90 percent of indegenious Oil-well owners are Northern Muslims. It only takes one fanatic among them to sponsor terrorism with an unlimited supply of Weapons of mass destruction. |

Nigeria's population is definitely a curse. Overpopulation affects quality of life. The fertility rate in the North is 7.0. We need to educate people and put stern family control measures in place. |
EdoNation:Am sure you've never looked. Its right there in Edo State (Okomu forest reserve) |
Did anyone else notice that CDS Gabriel was the most quiet CDS we've had in recent time? It really felt like COAS Tukur buratai was the CDS while gabriel was a mere figurehead (perhaps to appease the south) |

We often hear our 'gallant' security agencies rant about how they are on top of the situation, even when we all know the truth. They often claim credit for maintaining the peace and defending our unity with their lives. While this may be partially true, so often, the full story remains untold. One of our more silent heroes are our local vigilantes. From community units, to 'grazing marshalls' curbing the nefarous activitities of herdsmen in Ekiti, to 'Civilian JTF' fighting against Boko haram in the North-East. They risk their lives daily for very little reward othe than actually protecting their communities. For me, local vigilantes are a symbol of true sacrifice in these torrid times and I feel much safer knowing they are around. Appreciate that vigilante in your neighbourhood today. |
I still hope that, come December 1st, the telecom companies would send us text messages telling us the directive to increase data was one big scam. If not, then we are in for it. The one sector that seems to be thriving despite the governments shameless antics to squeeze liquidity out of it. Affordable data has over the years led to the growth of our tech sector without government support. From blogging to ecommerce to manufacturing, increased broadband penetration has bouyed sucesses stories. Fast forward to post implementation of this policy - they would virtually kill the nigerian tech industry and put us years behind our colleagues in the developed world. |
Am kinda surprised that things like Buhari's Kitchen comments and Dss raid on Judges are what have been grabbing the headlines recently while a full-frontal attack is being waged on the Shia minority in the North. I really am bothered by the development and it's not just because it could escalate to something of more dire consequences. Firstly, the fact that a sitting Governor could declare an entire religion illegal is disturbing. Many people may argue that Shia Islam is not 'real Islam' or whatever but that's only because they are in the minority here. I do not claim erudition in Islam nor profess to be a scholar but Shia Islam is a part of Islam practiced by millions. Therefore, to wake up one morning and declare the religion illegal just because their ways and doctrines are unacceptable by some sects is disturbing. It really makes me fear for the future of Christians/Traditionalist/Irreligious in this Country. Secondly, the recent killings and the general response from the Authorities show me that we may just have passed our point of no return. You even hear reports of how Security agents accompanied Fanatics to carry out this pogrom. The Northern Muslim leaders since the start of the millennia have shifted from more tolerant ways to Wahhabist, puritan ideologies which has only propagated radicalism among ignorant, uneducated youths. I really do fear for the future. |
Nice. We need more passionate and educated people to speak raise awareness on cancer. It really could happen to anybody. Weldone |
Hope I don't bore you too much. So I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) September 2008 when I was just 14 years old. I'll admit as at then i had heard of cancer and knew it was bad, but I really wasn't prepared for all that was gonna follow. I went through 2 hellish intensive chemotherapy courses ( which is probably worse than the cancer itself) that lasted for 49 days. I was indeed a shadow of myself and losing about 35kg, my ability to walk and coordinate (albeit temporary) and not to mention I was stone bald from chemo!! Thinking I was in for some respite, I was told after some tests that the blast or cancer cells were still too many in my blood and I had to undergo another round of intensive chemo. I ran! I literally ran! My parents were so scared of losing me that they opted to take their chances with cancer and I supported them 100 percent. We decided to discharge me against the advice of the medical personnel at UBTH. I was later told that the doctors had predicted that I'd be dead within 6 months of non-treatment. Cancer has not been easy. It's a most formidable foe turned friend (I'll explain later) that won't rest till you're a cadaver. Since then I've had to deal with all sorts of life threatening ailments including Pneumonia, tuberculosis and crazy mental battles to stay alive. I also don't get too close to people cause I feel my time is limited, no need to get attached. But getting broken is not an option. I really do believe am a much better person today because of my experiences. A better Son, brother, friend, philanthropist (in my own little way) and humanist. Cancer has been that faithful friend, that little reminder that I've got to make use of every second of every minute of every day. Why am I telling you all this? Cause you may be going through hell right now. Just keep on keeping on. We're all a lot stronger than we think. HOPE THIS INSPIRES SOMEONE P.S. Now a graduate, NYSC calling...

There's already a form of state policing existing in the North in the form of Hisbah or Sharia police. Those guyz have more power than the actual police in some states like Kano. We need State police here in the South. If done right, those marauding herdsmen could finally be curbed. |
Atheists do 'convert' from Islam. I know a few myself. Many are just too afraid to come out, for genuine and understandable fears for their lives. You have a right to believe whatever, I respect your views. Don't just come here and shove it down our throats |
The Nigerian Humanist association encompasses all atheist, agnostics, non-religious, secularists and others who don't subscribe to theism. Prominent atheist in this group include Leo Igwe, Callistus Igwilo amongst other activist. If you're interested in becoming a part of this association join the facebook page @ Nigerian Humanist Movement. |
There's no serious government that is focused on capital development that does not borrow. For those who don't know, foreign creditors such as the World bank don't just hand over money on request, they do so after a critical evaluation and Monitoring. The current administration never denied borrowing from Foreign creditors. The biggest being the 75 million dollars world bank loan to facilitate water projects. As citizens, we should be more concerned with what each candidate plans to do once they come on board rather than crude attempts to defame one another. For those who don't know, Lagos is by far the most indebted subnational debt state of with over a billion dollars in loans yet nobody is whining because it is a foundation for the future. |
I'll like anyone who hasn't watched it to do so. In channels television BIG STORY show last week, Baba Gana, a notorious criminal in Taraba state spoke from his hideout about how the Fulani herdsmen group in the area offered him about half a billion Naira to supply arms to them to 'Fight' the government. Surprisingly, the states he claimed the Fulani mentioned are all the predominant christian states in the North - Benue, Plateau, Taraba and Nassarawa states (which is about 45 percent christian). We've seen a complete wipeout of some christian villages like Agatu, Kodunga in Adamawa and attacks on Southern Kaduna. The Fulani herdsmen attacks are a menace to society and constitute a big nuisance, but are they selective? Your thoughts. No insults please. |
Recently Funso Adegbola, daughter of Bola Ige expressed her opinion that Nigeria isn't worth paying the ultimate sacrifice for. Today is the worldwide Premiere of 93 DAYS - A tale on the Heroics of Stella Adadevoh and other doctors who paid the ultimate price during the Ebola crisis. I am a strong Nationalist/Optimist who believes firmly in the Need for us to build our land together. But sometimes I just wonder... |
When you and your convoy drive like madmen, how won't the gearbox have problem? Btw, 2 and a half years before it gave you problem, did you want it to last forever??" |
All, yes you are seeing this clearly! All of the radiotherapy machines in Nigeria have packed up. For those who don't know, Chemotherapy and radiotherapy are the two most effective methods of treating cancers. Why do we do this to ourselves? How would a patient is probably going through hell already cope with this news? Modern radiotherapy machines cost just 2 million dollars. How won't medical tourism continue to rise in our country? Am an 8 year Leukemia survivor, so I know the importance of treatment. This is a death sentence. This is inhumane. |
