Nigeria’s earnings from oil production and sales in the 27 months Pres. Buhari has been in office is far less than what the previous government led by ex-president GEJ earned in one year, Daily Sun is reporting.

Since the Buhari government came to power, oil price has been in the all-time low, to the extent that a barrel of oil once sold for $27. Previous oil price peaked at $120 per barrel once, during the GEJ’s government.

According to figures from OPEC on Nigeria’s oil earnings since 2010 till date, the Buhari government has raked in $58 billion since coming to office. The statistics showed that the Jonathan government earned a total of $453.5 billion between 2010 and 2015.

Switzerland’s first insect-based food aimed at humans will go on sale next week following a revision of the country’s food safety laws, a supermarket chain said Monday.

Switzerland’s second-largest supermarket chain, Coop, announced it would begin selling an insect burger, and insect balls, based on protein-rich mealworm.

The products, made by a Swiss start-up called Essento, will be available in a handful of Coop branches, including in Geneva, Bern and Zurich, as of August 21, according to a statement.

Switzerland is the first European country to authorise the sale of insect-based food items for human consumption, a spokeswoman for the country’s food safety authority told AFP.

Swiss food safety laws were changed last May to allow for the sale of food items containing three types of insects: crickets, grasshoppers and mealworms, which are the larval form of the mealworm beetle.

These insects, long used in animal feed, must be bred under strict supervision for four generations before they are considered appropriate for human consumption, according to Swiss law.

The process of amending the 1999 constitution was concluded on Wednesday by the Nigerian Senate , they also voted in support of the Local Government Autonomy and 28 other bills up for amendment in the 1999 Constitution.‎

The Senate also approved single term for president and governors as well as voted for Independent Candidacy.

The Senate also approved the separation of the office of the Minister and Commissioner of Justice from the Attorney General of the Federation and of states to create an independent office of the Attorney General of the Federation insulated from partisanship.

The lawmakers voted in favour of the amendments that the President must nominate Ministers within 30 days and attach the portfolios of the Ministers to the Senate when sending for confirmation.

‎The Red Chamber amongst others voted against devolution of powers and in favour of immunity in respect of words spoken or written at plenary sessions or committee levels.

However, the Senators voted against ‎35% affirmative action for women as ministers and public office holders while in favour of Independent Candidacy for elections in Nigeria.

Everyone has had that moment where they met someone they were so attracted to that they were willing to go to strange lengths to get their attention.

But it’s more rare that such a moment turns into a wildly successful viral tale, as it has in the case of Twitter user @KelliAmirah, a Georgia native going to school in Washington, DC.

The young woman’s story began with her and a friend getting picked up by an Uber driver on their way to a party on a Saturday night.

Elated with her success, Kelli described the entire incident on Twitter to a massive response. However, the story wasn’t over yet.

Four days after the original thread, Kelli returns with a tweet reading: ‘Update: I hate my life’ along with a text conversation with the Uber driver showing the man revealing: ‘I’m married.’

The Senate on Wednesday approved the membership of former Presidents of the Senate and Speakers of the House of Representatives of the Council of State. The lawmakers however rejected deletion of the Land

Also ill-fated was the move to alter the Second Schedule, Parts I and II of the Constitution to move certain items to the Concurrent Legislative List to give more legislative powers to states.
The lawmakers also rejected the 35 per cent and 20 per cent affirmative action at both federal level and state level, respectively.


The proposed amendment was to also delineate the extent to which the federal legislature and state assemblies can legislate on the items that have been moved to the Concurrent Legislative List.

A Nigerian man with an unsual medical condition leaving one of his legs suspended in the air will now receive treatment to be sponsored by the Kogi State government. The man was spotted by Barry Idakwo in a village near Ugbamaka, Olomaboro local government of Kogi State.

Ahmed Attah, the special assistant on Health to Governor Bello who also works at Specialist Hospital Lokoja revealed that the young man is expected in Lokoja today for treatment under the auspices of the Kogi State Health Funds for Indigent Citizens established by Governor Yahya Bello.

Researchers in the United States say a trial in which American teenagers used a vaginal ring to prevent HIV infection has proved successful. A further such study will now be run with teenagers in Africa.

The girls used a flexible plastic ring, embedded with anti-retroviral drugs, which was changed every month over a six-month period. It’s part of a drive to develop a device which women can use to protect themselves from HIV infection, so they don’t have to rely on men to wear condoms.

Reporting the development at a conference about HIV science in Paris, the researchers said they were encouraged that the girls used the ring and said they liked it.

Caden Benjamin is addicted to eating toilet paper A 10-year-old boy who is constantly hungry due to a rare condition eats rolls of toilet paper if he is unable to get any other food, Dailymail has reported.

The boy identified as Caden Benjamin, from Standerton in South Africa, weighs 14 stone 2lbs (90 kilogrammes) because of his constant overeating.

Now, he has been diagnosed with genetic disorder called Prader-Willi syndrome, which is characterised by an obsessive compulsion to eat. His mother Zola Benjamin says it means Caden will eat anything he can get his hands on.



‘At one point, Caden was eating toilet paper. He’d eat rolls of it,’ she said. ‘Actually, he’d eat any paper he would find in the house. If there’s nothing for him to eat, he’ll scrape together the dirt he finds on the floor and eat that.’ Several years ago, he was forced to undergo a tracheotomy and he now breathes through a tube inserted into his windpipe.

Prader-Willi syndrome is a rare, incurable disorder that affects thousands of people worldwide, resulting in physical, mental and behavioural problems. The condition is made worse by the fact that people need less food than their peers because their bodies have less muscle and tend to burn fewer calories.

Ebony Naomi Oshunrinde, is a 19-year old Canadian producer better known as WondaGurl.

She has been quietly dominating the US music scene. She rose into the limelight at the age of 16 when she co-produced the song “Crown” on Jay Z’s album Magna Carta Holy Grail. From there on, she has worked with talents like Drake, Usher, Kanye West, and Rihanna.

Oshunrinde is self-taught. She started producing using her keyboard when she was only 9 years old. Later on, she downloaded music software and taught herself how to produce using YouTube videos.

His wondrous blue eyes stem from a condition called Waardenburgh syndrome. Out of every 3000,000 babies, one is born with this rare genetic condition which changes the pigmentation of the eyes. The condition is more common among people with white skin.

The young boy hopes to become a world-renowned soccer player one day. His favorite team is FC Barcelona.

Abushe has dreams of playing for his beloved Barcelona one day and being able to provide and look after his family. He currently lives with his grandparents who educate him.

At first, his parents assumed he was born blind but later discovered he can see. His family has chosen to view his rare syndrome as a “gift from God.”

People with this condition often have very pale blue eyes or different colored eyes, such as one blue eye and one brown eye.




The condition can cause hearing loss and changes in coloring (pigmentation) of the hair, skin, and eyes.

Although most people with Waardenburg syndrome have normal hearing, moderate to profound hearing loss can occur in one or both ears. The hearing loss is present from birth. Luckily, Abushe is said to be able to hear.

Waardenburg syndrome is named after the researcher P.J Waardenburg who first precisely described the disorder in 1951. At least 1,400 cases have since been recorded in the medical literature.

amantha Kedder, 24, has reportedly given birth to a litter of German Shepherd puppies after being hospitalized with severe stomach pains. Doctors were surprised to see Kedder go into labor, as she didn't know she was pregnant.
"It was even more of a shock when three tiny puppies came out instead of a baby," said Dr. Emmett Brown of Provo Medical Center. "To be honest, we didn't know this was possible. It's both a marvel of modern medicine and extremely disturbing at the same time."

Researchers have uncovered a link between sense of smell and fat burning.A team of researchers has recently made a surprising discovery: mice that cannot smell their food do not gain weight. A new study explores some of the reasons behind this.

Researchers led by Andrew Dillin, a professor of molecular and cell biology at the University of California, Berkeley, were surprised to discover that mice lacking a sense of smell do not gain weight, despite being fed a high-fat diet.

The results of the new study were published in the journal Cell Metabolism, and the findings point to an unexplored link between olfactory neurons and weight gain.As the authors of the research explain, it is known that our sense of smell, together with the olfactory input from the environment, help us to select and appreciate food. The sense of smell and that of taste are heightened before a meal, and they tend to decline immediately afterward.


Also, results of a new study published by JAMA Cardiology add to the evidence of an association between higher body mass index (BMI) and increased risk of cardiometabolic diseases such as hypertension, coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes.

The sexually transmitted infection is rapidly developing resistance to antibiotics. Experts said the situation was "fairly grim" with few new drugs on the horizon. Around 78 million people pick up the STI each year and it can cause infertility. The World Health Organization analysed data from 77 countries which showed gonorrhoea's resistance to antibiotics was widespread.


Dr Teodora Wi, from the WHO, said there had even been three cases - in Japan, France and Spain - where the infection was completely untreatable. She said: "Gonorrhoea is a very smart bug, every time you introduce a new class of antibiotics to treat gonorrhoea, the bug becomes resistant." Worryingly, the vast majority of gonorrhoea infections are in poor countries where resistance is harder to detect.

"These cases may just be the tip of the iceberg," she added.

Gonorrhoea can infect the genitals, rectum and throat, but it is the last that is most concerning health officials. Dr Wi said antibiotics could lead to bacteria in the back of the throat, including relatives of gonorrhoea, developing resistance.
