Father to late Davido’s friend, DJ Olu, has stated that his son wouldn’t have died had it been he returned to the United Kingdom where he was supposed to commence his postgraduate lessons.

A candle light service was held for the late Disc Jockey where friends and family members paid him last tribute, with Nigerian music stars such as Mayorkun, Naeto C, Asa Asika and others also present, at the service at Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos.

The service was very emotional as speaker after speaker poured eulogies on the late DJ Olu who was found dead alongside a friend, Chime Okafor last Saturday.

Seni Saraki, son of Senate President Bukola Saraki, spoke about how the late DJ Olu was like the elder brother he never had and would really miss him.

DJ Olu’s mom, Bidemi Abiodun said she would miss his son, adding that his death has shattered a part of her life but she will remain strong because she knew he was resting within the bosom of the Lord, while his brother called him his mentor and friend.

DJ Olu’s elder sister said she saw him as an elder brother even though she was older.

His father, Dapo Abiodun, said he would miss his son revealing that he questioned God for the kind of tragedy that has befallen him

Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu has directed all tertiary institutions that have conducted post-UTME examination to immediately refund money taken from candidates.
The minister has also declared that post-UTME examinations already taken are null and void; threatening that any institution caught still conducting the examination under any guise would be sanctioned.

The minister made this position known yesterday, in a press statement issued by Deputy Director Press and Public Relations, Ben Bem Goong. The strong-worded statement reiterated the Ministry’s position that post-UTME examinations have been cancelled with immediate effect and no institution should conduct such examinations. The minister warned that once the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has certified a candidate worthy of admission into any of the tertiary institutions, that candidate must be deemed fit by the institution.

According to the statement, students who have already been offered admission by JAMB may be screened by the institutions but this must not involve the conduct of any other entry examination. The candidates can be screened by verifying their certificates but not through the conduct of examinations.

The minister stated that it is unnecessary to subject students to further examinations when they have been offered examinations by JAMB since they will still have to go through between eight or 12-semester examinations throughout their four to six years study in the institutions.

Three men have landed in prison custody after they were arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly engaging in public fight over a new Sex worker brought in a popular hotel.

The incident happened at the popular hotel in Ijegun area of Lagos.

The suspects were Ekene Williams, 21, Oladejo Hammed, 19 and Kelly Ozor, 19. It was gathered from police sources that the new lady simply called Joy, came to the hotel to resume work and her presence was said to have attracted the attention of the hotel patrons including the suspects.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the three suspects were separately scheming on how to have Joy for Sex before another randy man identified as Ossai Kingsley surfaced and there was squabble over who will first taste her as she just resumed for work at the hotel.

It was learnt that Kingsley maneuvered his way, gave Joy a better offer and she agreed but the suspects resisted the move which caused serious problem in the hotel.

The disagreement led to serious fighting during which the suspects allegedly broke bottles, attacked Kingsley and also stole his money. The hotel management contacted the police and the suspects were arrested and charged to court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and assault under the Criminal code.

Indonesia's notorious traffic congestion was on display for the world after the country's president was forced to walk two kilometres through the scorching heat to attend a military parade.

Graft-ridden Indonesia is home to one of Asia's most inefficient bureaucracies and gridlock plagues many of the archipelago's largest towns.

The country's traffic nightmares were aptly illustrated when President Joko Widodo had to walk more than two kilometres to attend a ceremony marking the 72nd anniversary of the Indonesian military's founding.

Widodo and senior government officials were held up by gridlock as they approached the military parade in Cilegon, a port city about two-and-a-half hours drive from the capital Jakarta, the presidential palace said.

After a 30-minute wait, "the president then decided from inside the car that he would walk," Widodo's guard Ili Dasili said in a statement.

National police chief Tito Karnavian, who was also stuck in the jam, joined the president.

A man, Dennis Helmer, whose wallet was stollen nearly 50 years ago during a burglary at his parents’ house has surprisingly got his wallet back.

The 78-year-old who lives in of Westmont, New Jersey, received a call recently from one Don Williams, who told him a wallet containing documents with his name was found in the ceiling of his Bellmawr home by a contractor.

The wallet’s contents included Helmer’s 1957 Selective Service card, a St. Christopher Medal, a 1956 receipt for his $168 tuition payment to Drexel University and photos including a snapshot of Helmer posing with his Camden Catholic High School prom date, The Inquirer reported.

It turns out the Williamses had had a fire, and in refurbishing their house, a contractor had found the wallet in a ceiling, along with some books and a newspaper from 1945, Helmer said.

Don Williams saw Helmer’s name in the wallet, looked him up on the web, and made contact. Helmer said the wallet was apparently stolen during a burglary at his parents’ home in 1970. He said he never knew it was missing until Williams called him.

The Nigeria Police Force named one of its facilities after the security officers who were killed and injured during a bank robbery in Imo state. Nigerian policemen are getting better encouragement for their hardiness based on the naming of a new office complex after two deceased sergeants, Chukwudi Iboko and Sunday Agbo, who died in a bank robbery in Imo state.

A third sergeant, Otu Attang, who lost one of his eyes in the assault that occurred at a Zenith Bank branch in February 2017, was also immortalized. National police chief, Ibrahim Idris, confirmed that the initiative aims at giving better encouragement to brave law enforcement officers.

The complex, located at the Nigeria Mobile Police Force 20 situated in Lagos was commissioned on Thursday, September 21, 2017, by Idris. As Punch News reports, the structure was built in honour of the late policemen and their colleague who survived the attack.

The men had put in a tough resistance against the armed robbers who stormed the bank premises on the fateful day. “This is built in honour of late ChukwudiIboko and Sunday Agbo and other rank and file of the Nigeria Police who died in active service.

A young teenage girl and the boyfriend who planned her own kidnap so as to raise money for her birthday bash have been arrested by the police.

The Ogun state Police Command has arrested one Tohebat Adebayo for simulating own kidnap in conspiracy with her boyfriend, Afolabi Ogunremi ( 30), according to The Nation.

It was gathered that the 20-year-old girl staged her own abduction to raise N200, 000 and fund her forthcoming birthday bash.

On the day of the planned kidnap, she reportedly left home for Lafenwa market, Abeokuta, but never returned which prompted the parents to go searching for her and later reported the case at the Lafenwa Police Divisional Headquarters.

In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that an unknown man called the parents to inform them on phone that their daughter has been kidnapped.

Abimbola added that the caller demanded the sum of N200, 000 as Ransom from the girl’s parents to effect release from the kidnappers.


“Based on the report by the parents, the Divisiobal Police Officer, kayode Ayilara, led detectives to an abandoned house inside the Government Reservation Area where the girl was being kept.

“The discovery led to the arrest of Adebayo who happened to be the security man in the house.

“On interrogation, Adebayo claimed to be the boyfriend of the girl and that they both planned to simulate her kidnap in order to raise money for her forthcoming Birthday from the parents,” Abimbola said.
According the Police Image Maker in the state, the commissioner of police, Ahmed iliyasu, has ordered that the case be transferred to the Command’s anti-kidnapping and cultists for further investigation.

The Lagos State police command has arrested two Uber drivers who specialised in robbing women of their valuables at gunpoint.

The drivers, Fosta Rufus, 30, and Franklin Jogbodo, according to the Special Anti Robbery squad boss, Mohammed Sanusi, picked up their targets around Lekki, Ajah and Victoria Island areas of Lagos.

This is the second of such arrest of Uber drivers in Lagos. It was gathered that the suspects were accused of robbing their victims of valuables such as jewelry, expensive phones and cash, and their victims are mainly ladies who go out at night.

Lagos State police boss, Imohimi Edgal, who paraded the suspects at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, said the suspects sometimes would follow their victims to an ATM machine from where they would force them to withdraw cash at gunpoint.

He added that the suspects have admitted participating in three different robbery operations in the past. “On one occasion the suspects collected the sum of N86,000 from their victim using her Access Bank ATM. They have both confessed to the crime.”

He said that a KIA Rio with registration number BDG 376 EP used in perpetrating the crime and other valuables, which including Samsung Galaxy 7edge plus and iPhone 6 plus, allegedly collected from their victims identified as Nancy Nzuegbo and Eze Chinonso, were recovered from the suspects.

An Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Thursday dissolved a 12-year-old marriage between one Francis Stephen,45, and his wife, Ogechi,36, over impregnation of sister-in-law.

The President of the Court, Mr Adegboye Omilola, said the court had no choice, but to dissolve the union as the petitioner (wife) insisted on divorce in spite of its mediation and family members’ intervention.

“Since the petitioner insisted on divorce after several interventions, the court has no choice than to dissolve the union in spite of the fact that the husband still claims he loves his wife. “The court pronounced the marriage between Mrs Ogechi Stephen and Mr Francis Stephen dissolved today; both parties henceforth, cease to be husband and wife. “Both parties are free to go their separate ways without any hindrances or molestation,” the president said.

Earlier, Ogechi had told the court that her husband for whom she had four children, impregnated her younger sister in 2016.

“When I gave birth, I invited my sister to come and assist me to take care of the child, but I did not know that my husband had established a love relationship with her. “She confessed to me that my husband was responsible for her pregnancy when I discovered that she was pregnant,” she said.

According to New Telegraph, Hassan, a student of Accountancy Department, School of Management and Business Studies, was said to have ‘felt empty’ after he handed over N30 in alms to the beggar.

A five-year-old kindergarten pupil, Jackson Riley has been suspended from school for making a terrorist threat in Modesto, California.

According to the Mailonline, Riley told his teacher at Great Valley Academy that he couldn’t take off his bag because he had a bomb inside.

The School officials then sent a letter home, saying Jackson violated a school code when he ‘intentionally engaged in harassment, threats, or intimidation’. When his parents Ian and Michelle Riley complained that the rule only applied to students in grades 4 to 12, the school sent a second letter saying Jackson had made ‘terrorist threats.’

Latest violence follows an attack by Rohingya insurgents on police posts in the remote Rakhine region. Almost 400 people have died in clashes between security forces and Rohingya Muslims in Burma, the country's military commander has said.

The numbers, posted on the military's official Facebook page, are a sharp increase on the previously reported toll of just over 100. The statement said all but 29 of the 399 dead were insurgents, whom it described as terrorists. The statement said there had been 90 armed clashes including an initial 30 attacks by insurgents on 25 August, making the combat more extensive than previously announced.

Advocates for the Rohingya, an oppressed Muslim minority in overwhelmingly Buddhist Burma, say hundreds of Rohingya civilians have been killed by security forces.

According to the UN, some 38,000 have fled into neighbouring Bangladesh. It comes after Chris Lewa, director of the Arakan Project pressure group, told ABC: "So far reports—I think quite credible—mention about 130 people including women and children killed.

"That happened on Sunday when suddenly security forces cordoned [off] the whole area, together with Rakhine villagers. It seems like this has been a major massacre in Rathedaung." The latest violence follows an attack by Rohingya insurgents on police posts in the remote region, prompting a huge military crackdown.

The insurgent group that claimed responsibility for last week's attacks, the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army, said it acted to protect Rohingya communities.

Burma's leader, Aung San Suu Kyi has said the "terrorist" attacks were "a calculated attempt to undermine the efforts of those seeking to build peace and harmony in Rakhine state".

The Burmese government has repeatedly denied claims the Rohingya are facing genocide. It previously brushed away evidence of human rights violations as fake news and "propaganda".

Young people helped carry the elderly, some on makeshift stretchers, and children carried newborns.

Two black American lesbian pastors, Twanna Gause and Vanessa Brown, tied the knot on August 24th at the New Vision Full Gospel Baptist Church in East Orange, New Jersey. Gause’s father, Mr. Gause, citing “differences in theological beliefs,” refused his daughter’s invitation. “My father would not come here because he does not believe in same-sex marriage,” Ms. Gause said. “He told me the devil tricked me into this, and that if we had been married in biblical times, we would have been stoned to death.” Ms. Brown, 46, and Ms. Gause, 45, are both pastors of Rivers of Living Water United Church of Christ.
