Na kazeem be that na, they will wreck you. It may even be possible that the fault with the car is one that needs a small check. Change mechanic and get a scan tool for your personal use.

Thank you. But I think it is subjective if we look at it that way. You can address people by their first name and still hold them in high esteem.

By that same logic a 45-year old would feel funny being addressed familiarly by a 25-year old in the office context.

The workplace is not egalitarian (unlike a friendly gathering of peers) - it works best with a hierarchy - so as to avoid conflicts over disagreement in business execution. After all, owners of the business (and their representatives) have different responsibilities and ownership than workers, management, etc.
Then it's totally an individual thing, desired just for the benefit of massaging one's ego and sense of self importance. However, understanding cultural diversity, it is courteous to address people in the way they feel highly esteemed.

I personally don't feel offended when kids address me by my first name. I introduce myself that way all the time.

Nope! Include the correct prefix in the introduction. It helps to keep things formal, at the initial stage.

There are too many mannerless kids in the workplace these days, who lack proper etiquette.

Once a lady introduces herself using just her name, without any prefix, they latch on to that, and start calling the lady by her first name.

If she now protests at the familiarity, people will think she is making a mountain out of a molehill.

Let the person who is introducing herself, be the one to say you can call her by her first name.

I do not believe that clothes (in particular, "pants" wearing) are a "salvational" issue.
After a brief struggle, I personally, discarded my "pants" collection years ago.
The interesting thing was that I never even wore fitted pants...or too-tight pants.
I understand that God's people should dress differently than the world, but I am not quite sure, that threatening the loss of Heaven based on "pants-wearing" is appropriate.

HOWEVER, the Lord exclusively deals with the "heart".
When He transforms a sinner into a saint, there are noticeable changes that begin to take place...through sanctification.
The Holy Spirit begins His work.
Example:
A lady who perhaps used to wear extremely "tight" or "form-fitted" pants (which include professional, blue-jeans, or casual) will gradually buy less tight or a higher-sized pair of pants so that she is not misrepresenting who she is.
She may eventually figure out that pants no longer work for her and that appropriately "fitted skirts/dresses" are more appropriate for her.
When Christ gets ahold of a person, and they truly understand who he/she belongs to, change will take place...gradually..but eventually.
Not every Christian woman, though, will feel convicted about the "pants-wearing" issue.
So if a Christian woman chooses to continue wearing pants, then they should be fitted appropriately.
I love this motto that I heard from a minister:
Whatever is worn should be "loose" enough (pants/shorts/shirts/skirts/dresses), "high" enough (shirts that cover chest area), and "low" enough (skirts/dresses)...to cover business."
While what you've written up there is logical and appeals to the human sense, I can still see the cloak of religion all over it.

How you arrived at this very thought process, I very much understand. I was there before. If you find yourself giving up trousers for skirts after you've got saved, it's simply because the knowledge with which your salvation got hinged amplifies the need to 'work' to please God rather than rest on the finished work.

You can't please God! No, not by your dressing or anything else. The thing is, once you are a believer, the Father is eternally pleased with you. It's an inheritance.

English is just a language... can you read or write Swahili? can the British read or write Yoruba,Igbo or Hausa?? if not then there is no shame if you can't read in English also.
It becomes a proof of intelligence when you were born and nurtured in an English speaking country.

Your grandpa couldn't read nor write but knew a lot about astronomy and science. We are not stupid here you know smiley

Well, unless someone is deliberately launching a smear campaign against your person, which is very unlikely since you haven't been active on this space for a while now, then this account adds up. You've never been conservative about who you are here on nairaland, so when a profile is given that matches yours, you don't expect we go on a cycle trying to figure out who it is.

I think I can relate with the situation. Most probably, she just loves the attention the guy gives her. You know when a guy is first wooing a lady, he makes her feel so special especially if he is a funny kinda guy. I was once carried away with chatting with a guy and there was absolutely nothing between us. He was just a friend and knew i was in a relationship. He just brought newness and I just liked it.

I don't think you should take any rash decisions tho, 3years is not a joke. The likeness she has for the guy will soon wear off, just play along but don't keep your distant and don't be so conscious of the other guy because if you do, you would be giving her the opportunity to move farther away from you. That would be playing right into the guys hand.

Yes. He was following the SUV too closely from behind and on speed, so when the driver applied brakes, he just rammed into it.

For the brother, they assumed he was the driver of the vehicle when he came looking for who was involved in the accident. Very similar to what happened with Ishi.

What happened to you was very sad. Sometimes I try to advocate for this 'one Nigeria' stuff, but the more I see incidents like this, the less convinced I am.

It was few months ago I witnessed how these boys burnt down someone's SUV because of one of their erring brothers who while moving with reckless speed, slammed into it from behind and died in the process, injuring the passenger.

The driver of the SUV could have been lynched if he hadn't escaped from the scene as soon as it occurred. A brother to the injured passenger who came to check on him at the hospital was beaten to pulp and almost set ablaze if not for timely intervention.

What more can we say of this lot? Extremely crude and dangerous. Presently, I don't see a solution to their menace if not disintegration of the country. I just hope by some miracle, there could be a turnaround to this trend.

Please, I need suggestion on a SUV (tokunbo/Nigerian used) that is maintenance friendly. I need it primarily to commute to and from work. My budget is 1.4m.
I have checked out some Honda CRV, Toyota RaV4 and Hyundai's santa fe and ix35 (on Jiji only to get idea) . Its all confusing

The Bible says we should pray for our enemies; but the question comes, what kind of enemies should we pray for? are they just normal enemies that hate us or those that persecute us or satanic enemies? Someone said "nobody will kill him and repent". Let me ask you! But what if the enemy is unrepentant and continues killing people?. should we pamper enemies that increase the population of hell fire? should we pamper enemies that do not want to repent until they have killed 200 people?

The enemies I am against here are not really those persecuting or killing you for righteousness sake or those that just hate people normally. I mean those unrepentant enemies that kill "anyhow": e.g ritualists, heartless armed robbers.. Anyway the law enforcements are there!!

What should you do to those unrepentant enemies Killing souls that are ripe for harvest or that are ready to be saved?

Some murderous enemies need to die if they are unrepentant. You may not kill them with your hands, but your prayers can make the law enforcement agencies kill them.

Even the EcoMode that we all assume it’s slow, just get to a well balance road, you will bow sir.
Perception differs. What might be considered fast for some may not be for others. A 130hp ride just won't do it for me. It was designed for economy, not speed. Even my legediz benz can go faster than it grin.
