Dest8sman:💯. The entire rot is hidden behind Lagos, our national heritage ![]() |
Lol, after 12 years It's indeed a sadwaste situation ![]() |
Waltersmith refinery in Imo State has become a huge success story. They're probably the most successful modular refinery operating in Nigeria. This company has continued to expand operations in leaps and bounds. However, there are critical issues they must be aware of and strive to be proactive at all times. Waltersmith refinery is owned a Northerner from Kogi state. But he is getting maximum support from government and people of Imo State. But he must not take it for granted. Nigeria's economy and particularly the petroleum sector has been deregulated. That is why fuel can be sold for 640 per litre in Lagos only for same fuel to be sold for 710 in Maiduguiri. The cost of moving it across long distances is blamed for the price differential. Similarly, in the cement sector, price of Dangote cement in Obajana, Kogi state is much cheaper than in P.H or Taraba state. Distance between the source and the end user is blamed for it. Therefore, it is expected that diesel and fuel or any other derivative produced in Waltersmith refinery must be cheaper in Imo State than anywhere else in Nigeria. If that's not the case, then there is a problem! Waltersmith must be proactive and intentional if they want to enjoy long lasting mutual harmony between them and the people of Imo State. What happened to Shell in Ogoni should be a warning to them on how not to abuse indignous people. Shell did not even have much assets on ground in Ogoni compared to Waltersmith that have invested in a huge refinery. So, while Shell could easily pack up and cut their losses, Waltersmith won't afford such. It would lead to severe losses. The time of taking Igbos for granted is over. Also, they're never as docile as the people of Niger Delta that allowed themselves to be raped by the Nigerian state. I pray that Waltersmith would continue to enjoy maximum peace and cooperation with the people of Imo State. But it must be mutually beneficial. Based on the aforementioned examples using cement and deregulated imported fuel, it is expected that diesel and fuel must be significantly cheaper in Imo State than elsewhere in Nigeria, particularly for products coming from Waltersmith refinery! How much tax is Waltersmith refinery complex paying to the government of Imo State? CSR initiatives? The company must ensure that they don't abuse privileges or take Imo State for granted. If you're in Imo State or informed about Waltersmith activities, pls kindly let us know! |
Waltersmith has been producing in Imo State with full backing from the state government and indigenes. They're so comfortable that they've continued to expand operations. However, I would like to know if they're paying tax adequately and also improving the lives of the indignous people through CSR. They should be proactive and not wait until their is agitations. Secondly, it is argued that proximity to source of fuel makes it cheap for those in the catchment area, therefore is diesel and fuel cheaper in Owerri and Imo State for those that get supplies from Waltersmith? |
iceking4:I agree with most of the things you said here. Yes, party primaries keep bringing out terrible candidates that leave Nigerians between the rock and a hard place. In 2015, I was forced to choose between Buhari and Atiku, two lacklustre candidates that had nothing tangible to offer. However, Obi's emergence in 2023 was fortuitous, almost Devine. Someone like Obi will never win primaries in parties like PDP and APC and the reason is corruption. Obi won't compromise and bribe party delegates with dollars. I also agree that only a revolution can bring about progressive democracy and not the nonsense we have now. But after studying Nigeria critically, I realized that such revolution will never happen. In fact, it's easier for Nigeria to fight another civil war than to have a revolution that the masses will unanimously push for. Corrupt politicians will immediately play the religious and tribal sentiments, and Nigerians will change course from fighting the politicians to fighting themselves. We saw how #Endsars ended. Tinubu and his men in Lagos changed the narrative and claimed Igbos want to destroy Lagos and yorubaland. Unfortunately, many Nigerians can't reason critically, so they're like zombies in the hands of these wicked politicians. I saw Obi's emergence as the closest Nigeria will get towards emancipating itself. Why? Because someone like Obi that emerged with the masses support will do everything to perform, knowing that if he looses the masses support, he is gone. It would have brought in a new dimension in our polity whereby it's the masses that will determine who rules them and not party agents or cabals. Such a situation would unleash the Nigeria of our dreams. But we lost it. However, time is running out for Nigeria. Countries that fail to evolve, end up imploding. |
maasoap:Lol, every unbiased and informed Nigerian knows that Obi won 2023 election. Obi won SS, SE, Lagos, Abuja, Nasarawa, Plateau etc. He also won in Benue and Taraba and got significant votes in urban centers across North. Obi won most states despite INEC rigging him out in Rivers, Benue etc where he actually won. You're the dishonest and deluded one if you continue to deny the facts. |
crixlight2:Two wrongs don't make a right. Buhari was the worst thing that happened to Nigeria. A foolish old man who was so nepotistic he preferred to build infrastructure in another country with borrowed funds and also filled every post with his incompetent kinsmen. We all condemned his actions but today, Tinubu is doing exactly the same. If those that condemned Buhari then refuse to condemn Tinubu now, then it makes them hypocrites. Anyways, I agree with you that if a consensus candidate won't bring up Obi as flagbearer, then let Tinubu continue. I believe Tinubu will be better than Atiku, eventhough they seem to be two sides of the same coin, in terms of corruption. It is the North that will suffer severely from Tinubu's poorly executed reforms. |
Lanre1st:Obi will never be a bigot like Tinubu. He will never allow millions of Nigerians to sink deeper into poverty the way Tinubu did. He will never remove Northerners and replace them all with Igbos like Tinubu did. Tinubu has reduced Nigeria to Oduduwa republic, Obi will never do that. Continue decieving yourself. |
iceking4:Your hypocrisy is finally in the open. According to you, non of them is fit to rule Nigeria. So, Nigeria should not have a president? Or we should allow a criminal to rule since according to you, non of them is fit? Can you tell me a single politician dead or alive in Nigeria who is as clean as Obi? If you can't mention any politician who isn't corrupt like Obi only to categorize Obi among the criminals shows you're a dishonest human being. Atiku is extremely corrupt and there are tons of evidence! Tinubu is extremely corrupt, likely the most corrupt politician in Africa! Obi is certainly among the most incorruptible politicians in the history of Africa. Yet you categorized all of them as the same ![]() Shame on you!!! |
iceking4:You're the one who has refused to understand basic English due to your hate. Of course, it was INEC that rigged the election for Tinubu. Everyone with an open mind and who is well informed knows this fact already. Obi won Rivers State landslide but INEC claimed Tinubu won Rivers State. Obi won Benue state but INEC also rigged it for Tinubu. Same thing happened in Akwa Ibom etc. Continue deceiving yourself by saying you're not Yoruba and how you've never supported anyone. Yet you're so hypocritical and biased. |
Godfullsam:PDP primaries was a dollar bazaar between Atiku and Wike. The bidding was so tough alongside influence of state governors that tried to control their respective delegates. Any politically informed adult in Nigeria knows that dollars and governors influence outcome of primaries in PDP and APC. If you don't know this then I'm sorry, you're not even informed enough to discuss politics. The true test of popularity is not during party primaries, but during election. The fact that Obi won most states despite everything INEC did to rig the election shows he is the most popular presidential candidate that ever contested election in Nigeria. Obi won landslide in Rivers and also won in Benue but INEC rigged those states. If the actual votes were counted without manipulations by INEC, the gap between Obi and Tinubu/Atiku would have been in excess of 3 million. That was what INEC saw and shut down real time upload, claiming their was a glitch. You really must be a very dishonest person not to acknowledge these facts. |
Godfullsam:Another post completely lacking in common sense and logic. Delegates in APC and PDP primaries voted for the highest bidder. Dollars were flying around and someone like Obi can never be involved in such corrupt practices, so he moved over to Labour party and got the ticket without bribing anyone. Again, Peter Obi took a relatively unknown party with no state governor, no senator, no house of reps member and not even a local government chairman. Yet, Obi took this unknown party and won most states than the ruling party and the main opposition!!!!! Yet they said he isn't the most popular politician in Nigeria ?!!!!Can Tinubu or Atiku or Kwankwaso or any other politician in the past or present achieve what Obi did? Nigerians with clear conscience can see beyond the hate to know the truth. |
drlateef:Lol, another delusional post. "North now hates Obi according to this guy because of his religious and tribal politics" They lie shamelessly to themselves in the believe that Nigerians are mumu that can't think. What exactly did Obi do that Buhari, Atiku, Tinubu etc hasn't done worse? Buhari who is a muslim visited several churches during his campaign including Redeem. Tinubu hired fake bishops and visited many mosques during his campaign. But they keep calling Obi out of hate! Today, Tinubu has turned Nigeria to Oduduwa republic but this bigot doesn't agree he is the worst bigot president Nigeria has ever had, even worse than Buhari. He doesn't accept that North now hates Tinubu because of his bigotry and several anti North policies. But he believes North hates Obi who hasn't done them any wrong. Your hypocrisy and lack of logic is nauseating. |
Omobude244:Honestly, it's irritating seeing so many dumb quotes. Is it that these guys don't understand the meaning of popularity again or their hate has made common sense to flee from them. I have been asking them to mention just a single politician in Nigeria today who is more popular than Obi but instead of answering that simple question, they keep running around like headless chickens. Again, I challenge them that Obi is the most popular politician in Nigeria today, anyone who believes otherwise should mention the politician who is more popular than Obi ![]() ![]() ![]() |
ganye1:If Obi isn't the most popular politician in Nigeria today, who is? If you can't answer that simple question then every resources spent on your education is a total waste! |
How old are you? Let me guess 13. So, that makes you a naive juvenile. I said Obi is the most popular politician in Nigeria today, if you weren't so senseless, you would have countered me by saying that Mr A or MR B is more popular but no, you chose to be unfortunate. I have no time for nitwits like you. Godfullsam: |
Yorubas have proven incapable of building decent cities and settlements. Lagos would have been exactly like Ibadan, Ogbomoso, oshobo and the rest if Nigerians left it for them. They really have a long way to go. |
I blame your unfortunate parents for raising a mannerless thing like you. Now, go roll in the sand with your fellow juvenile delinquents. pricklewane: |
Paraman:Lol, you really must be counting on INEC rigging massively again. Although, that will likely happen except the national assembly is able to reform it and make it independent while ensuring that technology such as BVAS and IREV becomes mandatory. In a free and fair election today, Tinubu can only win in SW. |
In other words, Anambra and Abia are the two most prudent states in Nigeria. Good, the states will eventually become the 'Asian Tigers' of Nigeria if they continue on that path. |
Crowdboom:I hope you understand basic English. I said mention any politician in Nigeria today, you believe is more popular than Obi. Mention just one from any of the zones. NW? NE? NC? SW? SE? SS? |
leokid866:Obi actually won several Northern states, particularly in the middle belt. He also got significant votes in urban centers across muslim North. He achieved that with an unknown party without structure! Should he be in a party that has structure like PDP, it would be game over! If he gets full backing from North and INEC is prevented from rigging massively again, then Tinubu is out. |
Prince111111:I want to believe you're intelligent. So, can you mention one politician in Nigeria today who is more popular than Obi? If can't do that then the joke is on you. |
Paraman:It depends if North decides to act wisely or foolishly. Tinubu will only rule for 8 years if North decides to be selfish and greedy again. |
Kentursky:If they're wise, it's better to support Obi who will be pan Nigerian in his policies and reverse the terrible damages Tinubu is doing to North. Someone like Obi is not a do or die politician. He wouldn't mind ruling for one term. Even if he rules for 8 years and develops North, won't it be better than allowing Tinubu turn Nigeria into Oduduwa republic? Do you think North will ever recover if Tinubu remains on that seat for 8 years? |
Christistruth03:How does this thing you wrote relate to the fact presented by op? Talking about foreigners speaking our language, a Syrian man in Dubai who incidentally married a Yoruba woman refused to learn Yoruba language. Instead he chose to learn Igbo and today, he speaks Igbo fluently in Dubai despite the fact he has never stepped foot in Nigeria! |
It's indeed a sadwaste situation
