The Senior Special Assistant to former President Jonathan on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe, on Sunday listed the errors his boss and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) made before the 2015 election. Reacting to claims that candidacy of Jonathan was in error, Okupe said that the decision to pick the former president for re-election was in order but that chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, should have been removed because he was partial and compromised. Below is his full statement: The impression created in the media recently that the candidacy of Goodluck Jonathan was an error is itself a grand fallacy which totally undermined the whole truth about the sanctity and correctness of the wisdom of the PDP National Executive committee which made and ratified that decision. All over the world when an incumbent signifies intention for a second term it is customary that the established machinery of the party wholly backs and gratifies such intentions. If any error was made it was firstly the failure of the PDP administration to sack the unfair and compromised electoral Officer who was allowed to conduct the election in spite of his obvious and profuse partisanship. The second error was the inexplicable acquiescence of the PDP government to the use of the infamous Card Reader which was skilfully manipulated to the disadvantage of the PDP presidential candidate. The third error of the PDP was to have fielded a good, God fearing and patriotic man who in spite of his enormous power, the avalanche of deployable arsenal of war at his disposal, transformed himself to be the victim and refused to fight so that his countrymen may live and his nation survive. The situation in Burundi today is highly instructive. Certainly history will treat Goodluck Jonathan as one of the greatest heroes of this generation of African Leaders. Definitely NOT an Error by any stretch of imagination. I speak today not as a spokesman for President Jonathan, an episode and a proud chapter of my life which has since come to a close but rather I speak as a student of History and a veritable stakeholder in the Nigerian project. http://plusmouth..com.ng/2015/11/2015-election-mistakes-jonathan-pdp.html |

Reuben Abati is the Former media aide to ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan and has written an article about President Muhammadu Buhari’s newly-appointed ministers. Abati’s article, titled “Super Ministers and other stories” was published on the website of The Guardian today, November 13. It reads: “Have you congratulated our new Ministers?” “I am still thinking about it, actually. I don’t know whether to congratulate them or to commiserate or to pity some of them. They have merged Ministries that need not be merged. Some Perm Secs are now floating. Six months and this is it?” “What kind of talk is that? You have come again oh”. “I wonder too. At least you can see that round pegs have been put in round holes, and shame on all you doubting Thomases, our government is good to go.” “”Who is talking politics? Can we discuss Nigeria and leave politics out of it? And please, leave that thing about pegs. Some pegs are neither round nor square, they are misshaped.” “Everything is political.” “I know. Very soon, you will also insist that that funny walking stick Ngige was carrying about, like the rod of Moses, is also political.” “Okay, what is your point?” “I have said it before and I repeat it again. I still think whenever Ministers are to be screened by the Senate, their portfolios should be attached. It helps to prepare the prospective Minister mentally. It deepens the screening process, and makes it even more participatory.” “There is no such Constitutional requirement.” “Everything doesn’t have to be in the Constitution.” “Okay we have heard. You have said it before. When next we are appointing Ministers, we will disclose their portfolios”. “What do you mean we?” “Na we, now” “Ehen” “See, I usually don’t vote. But this last election, I got my PVC and I voted. Those PDP people already had their cup full. I voted for change.” “Me too.” “But the campaign is over, and I see too many of you still locked in an election mode.” “Na so e be. As I dey sef, I dey wait for 2019. Na for Baba side I dey.” “This Baba syndrome is a problem. It is breeding a culture of mass sycophancy, hypnotism and amnesia.” “Grammar!” “When you elevate a government to a semi-divine status, you lose sight of your responsibility to hold government accountable. The ascribed, contrived, or self-imposed divinity of elected officials is a threat to democracy.” “I think you should be holding this conversation with your brother, Patrick Obahiagbon, I beg. Simple matter, you want to give somebody headache. One of these days, I will arrange a meeting between you and the Igodomigodo. Any little talk, somebody must look for dictionary. You too dey show. Na only you?” “Leave am make e dey yarn. People who have become Ministers have become Ministers.” “Look at it this way, I know one of those old Ministers. The day he was given a portfolio, a very important one at that, the guy said he didn’t know what the Ministry was all about. I was shocked.” “Well, I am not shocked.” “He ended up creating problems.” “We know.” “So, what usually happens is that when a man takes a Ministry, he had no prior knowledge of, he spends the next six months trying to figure it out.” “That’s why Baba has chosen experienced people who have been in government at senior levels.” “But one of them has said he is there to learn” “Who is that?” “You go and find out.” “If I may play the Devil’s advocate, I think what the man means is that he is open to ideas. As human beings, we are always learning. At the retreat, the point was made clear that this is not a cabinet of learners, but drivers. People who are ready to move things forward.” “Were you there? Suppose they can’t move anything.” “Someone told me. I have my contacts.” “You are just a bloody gossip. The truth is that some Ministers spend the whole time learning and moving nothing” “I see noise-making has started already”. “We don’t need noise. I want to see the change I asked for with my PVC.” “Fashola is the luckiest guy.” “Baba meta, himself.” “What is that?” “Power, Works, Housing. The Holy Trinity of Government.” “E remain make dem add Finance.” “Fashola is mai mhe-en.” “I don’t envy him. I actually sympathise with him. I hope he has not been set up for demystification and disambulation.” “Why don’t you speak like a normal human being?” “Those three key portfolios make him a Super Minister.” “They should just have named him Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy.” “No. We don’t need that. Every Minister is important.” “Fashola in that assignment, I tell you, will need the services of a doctor, a massager, and prayer warriors” “Don’t worry yourself. The man will do it. He performed in Lagos. The moment he left, Lagos shut down. See how Ambode is struggling with Fashola’s big shoes. It is just Fashola’s wife that I pity.” “What has his wife got to do with this? Please.” “You don’t know? This one that they have made him a Baba Meta; I swear, when next the man shoots straight, his wife go born triplets! One for Power, one for Works, and the other for …” “Amaechi wife, na twins that one go born.” “Are you guys alright?” “Wait oh, e be like say na only one Baba give Amaechi. Transportation.” “Na two. Transport not Transportation. Baba has added …ation for Aviation. Amaechi is in charge of Transport. He is in charge of Aviation, add the two: Transportation. Him na Baba Ibeji.” “With control over 15 parastatals/agencies. God! You have his phone number?” “No. I no get. But Baba didn’t treat our brother, JFK well” “He is in charge of Solid Minerals. That is a very strategic Ministry. It is like Agriculture. A developed Solid Minerals sector will further diversify the economy and increase non-oil revenue.” “But na only one they give am.” “Me, I thank God that he has a portfolio. I think PMB gave him Solid Minerals deliberately to please Fayose.” “What has Fayose got to do with this now?” “Everything. You know he was the one who begged President Buhari to give Ekiti State, a solid ministry. He said Ekiti people don’t want any yebuyebu Ministry but a very solid one.” “So?” “So, the President has shown that he listens, and he has given the people of Ekiti State, the Ministry of Solid Minerals!” “You are not okay.” “Ekiti is solid. Whatever Fayemi is able to do in that Ministry, his efforts will be appreciated. But as for Amaechi and Fashola, well…” “Who is in charge of Niger Delta? That is another strategic Ministry” “Na Pastor they put there oh. Pastor Uguru.” “Me, I just hope the man knows that that is not a Ministry where you go and chop guguru oh. It is an important portfolio.” “If Uguru likes, let him chop guguru. As long as he does not chop alone, and the people of the Niger Delta get enough popcorn too.” “But wait a moment, is that not the same Pastor who during the Ministerial screening swore that God forbids him having anything to do with PDP members?” “He didn’t swear. He said it.” “He will probably need a one-on-one retreat with President Buhari. This is a government of nobody and a government of everybody.” “Hey! Even our critics are beginning to quote us as if they are quoting the Bible. Patapata we go win again o, winner! ” “Just tell your Uguru that he is not an APC Minister, but a Minister of the Federal Republic, whose doors must be open to everyone.” “Hen, hen. Are you looking for contract already, or a consultancy? Do I give you the man’s number?” “I don’t need his number. I am making commonsense.” “Oh, you want to become another Ben Bruce, the commonsense Senator? He goes about saying he is making commonsense.” “He is right. We need commonsense” “We don’t need commonsense. Too much commonsense caused all our problems. What we need is uncommon sense, to get rid of common nonsense. Tell him.” “Who is in charge of Finance?” “That’s the Ogun State Ministry.” “What do you mean Ogun State Ministry? I am asking you who is the new Super Minister in charge of our money?” “She is from Ogun State. Kemi Adeosun; she speaks fone.” “I hope she won’t become a Madame No.” “Madam what?” “Madam No Money. “Nobody will try that with us. We will tell that person what to do.” “This is part of the problem with governance; too many people claiming to know what should be done. I don’t remember PMB making you a Minister, adviser or errand boy. When these Ministers start failing, we will talk again.” http://plusmouth..com.ng/2015/11/everything-doesnt-have-to-be-in.html |
Ibe Kachikwu(Minister Of State Petroleum Resources) “Our policy direction is to find more money, find more oil, find more gas, monetise them and put money in the hands of the government. “We have dwindling resources and yet the whole nation depends on this ministry to provide the resources. “We will absolutely require you to show an ability to deliver the sort of change mantra that we are looking for and undergoing. “This cannot be done by one person; I do not have the magic wand, but I might have some good ideas and those ideas will come from all of us and all of us will have to buy into it. Babatunde Fashola(Minister Of Power, Works and Housing) “We are here to work with you, in solving problems on ground as quickly as possible, we want to know if some of those problems are man-made or systemic. “We want information on what has been done, what remained to be done, and what are the future plans, we want to continue from there,” . “We need to do more so as to regain lost time. Nigerians are anxiously waiting for improved power supply nation-wide. Dr Ogbonnaya Onu ( Minister of Science and Technology) “One assurance that I will always give you and I have said it repeatedly, is that as your son, I will never do something that you will be ashamed of. “It is better for me to leave politics than for me to do something for my own selfish interest that will make you to be ashamed of your son. “I will continue to act in a way that Nigerians will know that Ebonyi State is truly the Salt of the Nation. “I want to assure you that I will make sure that I will be the best minister Nigeria ever had,”. Rotimi Amaechi(Transport Minister) “I am not as bad as people from the outside say I am. I only engage based on principles. I neither take nor give bribes. If you want to relate with me, don’t give me money. I will also not give you money. I don’t want to go to jail so I won’t steal. But I won’t spare thieves,”. http://plusmouth..com.ng/2015/11/read-key-quotes-made-by-fashola-amaechi.html |

In this article, Charly Boy believes that poorer couples have more time for sex than richer couples. He went on to trace kids who become street hawkers as products of lower income couples having more children than they can cater for. You can read his article below; “Go ye into the world be fruitful and multiply, oh! yes that’s what the good book says. However certain people take this literally. They see children as a blessing from God and they view it as their duty to fulfill this prophecy by promoting procreation, rejecting all forms of birth control, including natural family planning. “Children are viewed as a reward from God and the more children one has, the more one has been blessed by God but the big question is, does this put food on the table especially in this hard times?!! “I’m still trying to wrap my head around why the poor have more children when they can’t afford to raise them. And why the rich have fewer children when they can afford to have more. The population demography of any society is vital in Nation building and governments around the world have effected policies to control this growth. A very good example will be China’s one child per family policy, which has now been upgraded to two. It will be commonsensical to say that people breed their kind this means a rich family is most likely to have rich children, and a poor family, poor children. In Nigeria we have a large majority of low income earners who are multiplying the number of children they have. Children they cannot afford to take care of. So wouldn’t it make common sense to say that the less one earns, the less children you should have? “This is one of life’s ironies. “People who are rich and can afford to have more children will not yet those that cannot afford it do. Low income spouses spend more leisure time together than families of high income earners. It will be typical in our society today, to see a high income family where both couples are gainfully employed, close work late and get home from a hectic day too tired and stressed to indulge in any intimate act but the lower income earner seem to have more leisure time and less distractions to focus on their love plays with their tomato selling wives. Why is this so? “Breeding children has become a recreational sport for the poor, I feel this is an issue that we all collectively as a society need to address. I use to think that it was mostly in the rural areas that this kind of demography is rampant but that’s not the case, the other day I was shocked to find out that a friend’s security guard who earns 30,000.00 naria monthly has two wives and ten children. Hummmmm, How on earth are they going to survive on that, what type of education, feeding, clothing can he provide for them in today’s Nigeria. Don’t they understand that intimacy between spouses is also an occasion to be savored and pleasurably enjoyed and not just for making babies? “We all need to wake up to the harsh effects that this is having. Government needs to have more enlightenment and sensitization programs that will address this issue. There is a need to inform the populace about the harmful effects of having children that one cannot afford to raise properly. The most obvious aftereffects are when you see children hawking in the street in order to fend for their families. This is not an issue for the government to tackle alone, the private sector also has to join in. The first solution will be circulating constant information about family planning: Due to a range of factors including education and location of living, poor women don’t have access to as many family control measures as richer women so richer women have substantially fewer “unintended” pregnancies than poorer women. “For all my brothers and sisters coping with survival I urge you all to think more about family planning, I know God blesses us with children but we must learn to plan our family according to our means. By the way, I have 9 children but thank God my school fees days are over or else e for hard ooooo. So my simple summary today is, cultivate your sperm according to your pocket size. A word they say, is good for the wise.” http://plusmouth..com.ng/2015/11/cultivate-your-sperm-according-to-your.html

On Monday Vice President Yemi Osinbajo asked the National Automotive Design and Development Council to design a comprehensive vehicle purchase credit scheme that would enable Nigerians to purchase home-made vehicles with ease.Osinbajo issued the directive when the National Automotive Design and Development Council, led by its Director-General, Malam Aminu Jalal briefed him on the activities of the council. According to Osinbajo, the council’s bill is taking time but it should be made to work for those who cannot afford new vehicles. Osinbajo said he was concerned about the strategy for raising funds as well as the pressure which the importation of used vehicles exerted on foreign exchange. He commended the National Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP), aimed at reviving the nation’s vehicle assembly operations as laudable with the capacity to grow the automotive industry. He further said there might be need for a high tariff on used vehicles although he expressed concern about the effect it might have on Nigerians and on transportation in general. Osinbajo further expressed concern about the spate of smuggling of used vehicles which had impacted negatively on the economy and urged the council to work in synergy with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), to develop strategies to curb the menace. Earlier, Jalal said one of the fiscal provisions of the National Automotive Development Policy is that it will increase customs revenue without increase in prices of assembled vehicles and make investments attractive and convenient. He said the objective of the policy is to “ensure the revival, development and growth’’ of the automotive industry using local content. Jalal expressed optimism that the automotive policy would curb smuggling. He added that it had provision for imposing protective tariff and levy as well as an electronic online solution to capture the 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN) obtained by NCS upon payment of duties. He added that full implementation of the policy would lead to massive employment generation, technological development as well as its intervention in the transport sector. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Jalal told State House Press Corps after the visit that the nation’s automotive industry had received very good response by investors in vehicle assembly since its policy review in 2013. According to Jalal, the objectives of the policy are to bring back vehicle assembly plants in Nigeria using Completely Knocked Down (CKD) operations and then develop local content. "The response has been such that we are now concentrating our effort to develop automotive local content. "And we briefed him (VP) on some of the elements of the policy that will make it robust, including the fiscal issues, standards, steels development and market development’’, the D-G stated. He said the automotive industry could encourage the steel industry in the country to come on stream adding that the automotive industry was recognised as one of the agents that could create many jobs and investments. He said the council had signed an MOU with the Indian automotive suppliers association and its South African counterpart interested in investing in Nigeria. He said the measure was to break the jinx of manufacturing engine blocks in the country as some of the organisations would bring in their technical partners via "follow sourcing’’ to supply the components for made-in-Nigeria vehicles. http://plusmouth..com.ng/2015/11/osinbajo-vice-president-osinbajo-calls.html |
According to the source said that Pablo Escobar’s money is still popping up in 2015! The Colombian drug lord has become popular again in pop culture because of a new Netflix show based on the life of a DEA Agent that tried to bring him down. Now a 65 year old farmer named Jose Mariena Cartolos recently found $600,000,000 on his farm that is supposedly link to Pablo! Hit the jump for more. At the height of its power, Pablo Escobar’s drug cartel was smuggling fifteen tons of cocaine (worth more than half a billion dollars) into the United States every single day. He made so much money that he had to spend $1000 per week purchasing rubber bands to wrap the stacks of cash.Pablo had so much money that he could not possibly spend it all. He had over 800 luxury mansions all over Colombia, owned football teams, he gave away billions of dollars to help build hospital’s, schools, work programs and even rebuilt entire ghettos for the poverty stricken people of Colombia. Even with all that going on, he still had too much cash to hide. So he started to bury it all over Colombia. The location of each money pit was known by only Pablo and his three closest associates. When Pablo was finally killed, the location of many of these money pits died with him. The CIA estimates there to be about 100 of these money pits that have yet to be discovered, each containing between five hundred million to one billion dollars. Fast forward to today. Meet Jose Mariena Cartolos, a 65 year old farmer who recently received a $3000 grant from the Colombian government to help him start a palm oil plantation on land that has been in his family for over 200 years. While digging the irrigation trench for the plantation, Jose discovered something big beneath his feet. After further excavation, Jose discovered several large blue containers with something incredible inside. Money, not just a few hundred dollars, not even a million dollars, heck not even 100 million dollars. This 65 year old farmer with nothing but the shirt on his back had managed to find one of Pablo Escobar’s money pit’s containing a whopping $600,000,000. Yup thats right, six hundred million dollars. It’s not clear what will happen to the money now, but many speculate that Jose Mariena Cartolos will not be allowed to keep the money, but it will most likely remain in Colombia and be used to fund social and economical programs that help those in poverty. This news will most likely create a modern day “Gold Rush” as people flock to the Colombian countryside with echo sounders and all kinds of scanning equipment, searching for more of Pablo Escobar’s hidden money pits http://plusmouth..com.ng/2015/11/farmer-finds-600000000-drug-money.html |

The party said the reason given by the tribunal for arriving at the “bizarre” decision is intriguing and further exposes the contradictions and double standards inherent in most tribunal rulings against PDP interests recently. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, said in a statement on Saturday that the “Taraba state tribunal ruling again brings to the fore the organized plan by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC Federal Government to deploy all unorthodox means to decimate the opposition”. “It is rather curious and a great conflict of irony that the Taraba tribunal sitting in Abuja on security grounds faulted the conduct of PDP primaries shifted to the same Abuja on security reasons”, the party stressed. The PDP said if the tribunal was faulting the party’s primaries as basis for its decision, it then means that no APC gubernatorial candidate can stand the test, as their party never had acceptable primaries in any of their states. The PDP said it had earlier alerted the nation and the international community of the grand design by the APC to use the judiciary to wrestle some PDP states, particularly Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Taraba states. “Evidence that Taraba ruling was a product of presidency manipulation can be deduced from the fact that few hours before the judgment was delivered, the APC had arrogantly announced their victory on the new media”, it said. PDP said it was totally confounded by the “brazen show of power by the executive and warned that the development clearly portends grave danger to our democracy and indeed national cohesion and development”. The party called on its members across the country, especially in Taraba state, to remain undaunted as the appellate courts will restore its well-deserved victory. http://plusmouth..com.ng/2015/11/aisha-alhassan-was-another-evidence-of.html

Jack Musa is the son of ex head of state, General Yakubu Gowon and Late Edith Ike Okongwu. Edith lived with Gowon during the war till his people allegedly kicked her out for flimsy reasons and took young Musa away from her. She relocated to America but many years later, she ‘kidnapped’ him on a visit to Nigeria and took him back to America. That move was probably wrong because young Musa became rebellious and didn’t approve of his mothers single and flamboyant lifestyle. To make matters worse, his dad Yakubu Gowon had allegedly cut him off for as long as he was with his mum.Musa eventually became one of the highest ranking member/ business partner of a Colombian drug cartel. He lived a rich and flamboyant lifestyle until he was caught in 1993. Musa was about 23 years as at that time. Jack Musa Gowon protested vehemently through his legal team that he was innocent and was framed up and his protest were ignored by the Jury and was harshly sentenced to 324 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release. As an inmate of Taft Correctional Facility, Musa Jack Gowon was a role model and a legal adviser to all the inmates He was well behaved and a source of inspiration to co- inmates who have given up on life. The prison warden loved and worshiped the ground he tread on Musa enrolled in one of the universities around and successfully graduated with a degree in Law as a prison inmate. This commendable act of Leadership did not go unnoticed and he was rewarded severally by prison authorities. While all these were going on, Musa’s family has never stopped fighting to get him out of prison and calls for his release began to grow louder. President Obama heard the calls for Musa’s release and acted in that regard by granting him a parole. Musa walked out of Taft Correctional Facility Bakersfield California as a free man on November 2nd and he is currently at ICE Detention Center Bakersfield CA where he will be deported back to Nigeria any moment from now. Musa Jack Ngonaadi is grateful to his Dad, General Yakubu Gowon, his friends and his relatives from his maternal side who stood by him and supported him also all through the period of his unjust incarceration that he did not commit the crime he was wrongly accused of. Musa will narrate his own side of the story very soon and he is grateful to God who kept him alive and well to see this day. http://plusmouth..com.ng/2015/11/jack-musa-yakubu-gowons-songranted.html

A prominent Sierra Leonean politician has sensationally claimed that the contentious arrival of 4,000 bottles of Joshua’s water to her nation was the key to the eventual decline of the incurable disease. Mrs Fatmata Kargbo gave the startling revelation in Lagos, Nigeria at The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) on Sunday 1st November 2015 “I am very disturbed and have had sleepless nights for not giving this testimony,” thecivil servant admitted. “When T.B. Joshua announced his desire to send Anointing Water to the countries affected by Ebola, I immediately contacted the presidency,” she explained, adding that after the government accepted his offer, she was appointed to head the team that would receive the blessed ‘water’ with alleged healing powers. As was widely reported in mainstream media, the Nigerian cleric paid for a private jet to transport the ‘spiritual items’ to Sierra Leone, alongside a cash gift of $50,000 to those affected by the outbreak. “I received the Anointing Water at the airport and submitted the consignment to the President,” Kargbo revealed.“However, the devil fought hard and we faced a lot of opposition and obstacles.” According to the civil servant, even after obtaining presidential approval to begin distributing the ‘Anointing Water’ to the most affected zones, strong opposition from ‘internationally renowned medical organisations’ severely delayed the allotment. “Medically, they said there was no scientific proof that it could cure Ebola,” she explained, adding that some of the water was even ‘confiscated’ by medical personnel. It was only after several weeks of struggling that Kargbo found a senior ranking medical official who was sympathetic to her cause and managed to ‘smuggle’ in some of Joshua’s water to a clinic where Ebola patients resided. “The patients who received the Anointing Water testified that the symptoms disappeared almost immediately,” she sensationally claimed. “In the South East region where we were finally allowed to minister the Anointing Water, there was no new case of Ebola recorded from September 2014 onwards,” she further added. According to Kargbo, it was only the regions where Joshua’s ‘holy water’ failed to reach that Ebola’s spread continued, eventually beginning to decline in early 2015. She lamented that if not for the strong opposition, Ebola would have been conquered much earlier. “If we were allowed to use the water as directed by the man of God at that time, Ebola would have been rid from my country within weeks,”she asserted. According to a BBC interview with President Ernest Bai Koroma, if no new cases are recorded, Sierra Leone is expected to be declared Ebola free this week. T.B. Joshua claims his controversial water, newly branded as ‘Morning Water’ is anointed by God. “It is not the water that heals but God Himself since the anointing is done in Jesus’ name,” his website states. Last week, two survivors of a tragic helicopter crash in Lagos, Nigeria, claimed that it was Joshua’s water that rescued them from certain death. The father of Ooni, Prince Aderopo Ogunwusi, has said that he will prostrate for his son if occasion demands. He spoke against the backdrop of the taboo that forbids father to prostrate for his son in Yorubaland. Asked whether he would prostrate for his son, he said: ‘’Why not? It is a must and let me tell you that when occasions arise that I should do so, I will gladly do so the way other young and old will prostrate for him. It is his office and tradition that we are respecting and we will continue to do so’’. In an interview with Sunday Sun, the retired On-Air-Personality of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) said: ‘There is no cause for alarm. Even though the Yoruba culture forbids that father should prostrate for his son, the position of an Ooni is a powerful one that he must be adored, respected by all and sundry’’. Pa Ogunwusi, who expressed delight that the new Ooni understands the rich culture of the Ife people said: ‘’I am happy that he understands the rich culture of Ife people even before his election. I think destiny too has prepared him for this assignment even long before his birth. He added: “As it has been reported, he exhibited greatness since birth and followed it up till the moment providence bestows on him the responsibility of occupying the royal seat of his forebears. May God be with him. We thank God for this. it is an honour to the Ogunwusi family, the Giesi Royal House and the entire people of Ile-Ife, particularly the youths. Yes, he may be young, but his wisdom is more than his age. May God bless him more with the wisdom of Solomon to pilot the affairs of this our ancient town’’While praying for a peaceful and long reign, the elder Ogunsanwo advised his son to see his new position as a call to serve the people of Ife in particular and the mankind in general http://plusmouth..com.ng/2015/11/i-will-prostrate-for-my-son-ooni-of.html |

Obiano made this revelation while inspecting the erosion sites along the Onitsha and Owerri Expressways on Saturday, October 31, 2015. He reiterated that the Federal Government owed the state N25billion accruing from construction of federal roads in the state. "This is the reason why we must get permission from the Federal Government before embarking on palliatives on the eroded site. "It is very clear from the gravity of the erosion that the state alone cannot handle the project with its meagre resources because it will run into billions of naira’’, Obiano said. Thus, the governor called on the Federal Government to save the Onitsha/Enugu Express Road and Onitsha/Owerri Expressway from imminent collapse due to erosion menace. The Onitsha-Enugu road has caved-in at the foot of the fly-over at the new parts Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state while erosion has cut-off one lane at two points at Okija-Ihiala axis of Onitsha-Owerri road. Obiano said erosion posed danger to human lives and business activities in the area. He said he had made contact with the Presidency after inspecting the site recently. He said he had mandated IDC Construction Company to mobilise to site and start palliative works to save the road. The governor, however, advised Anambra people to bear with the state while it persuades the Federal Government to come to its aid and save the people from danger posed by the bad roads http://plusmouth..com.ng/2015/11/the-anambra-state-governor-willie.html |

Mrs Gates shared the post on Wednesday, October 28 on her Facebook page. The post which was accompanied with a photo of the seemingly happy couple rowing a boat, has garnered over 100,000 Likes. Read on for Mrs Gates heartfelt words to her husband as he turned 60. "When Bill first asked me out, he said, 'I was thinking maybe we could go out two weeks from tonight.' I told him he wasn’t spontaneous enough for me. So he called me an hour later to suggest we get together that night. He asked: 'Is that spontaneous enough for you?' "Bill, after two amazing decades together, your humor, drive, intelligence, curiosity, thoughtfulness, optimism – and, yes, your spontaneity– are as wonderful as ever. On land, at sea, and everywhere in between, I’m glad you’re by my side. Happy, birthday." http://plusmouth..com.ng/2015/10/bill-gates-turned-60-his-wife-melinda.html

he law-making function is one of the essential pillars of any society. No human society survives in the total absence of laws. Whatever the social system, the conduct of affairs must be defined by certain basic rules. These rules must be made by someone or some group and executed or enforced by some group. In a democratic environment, power belongs to the people who in turn elect those who are to carry out the task of law-making on their behalf. But in a despot and directly exercised by him or assigned to anyone of his choice. There are no clear lines demarcating the law-making function from the executive function. The two flow into each other and are often carried out by the same people. Therefore, the story of one inevitably leads to the other. Such is the case of law-making in Nigeria arising from its long history of military dictatorships. The story of the legislature is intertwined with that of the executive and evolves from the larger history of the Nigerian national itself. Nothing better captures this evolution than the process of constitutional engineering in Nigeria, for it is these supreme laws of the land that provide guidance for law-making. On the whole, these supreme laws or constitutions are products of the dynamic polity, itself a part of the political history of Nigeria. Therefore, it is within this context that the development of the legislature can be traced to the beginning of British colonization of what is now know as Nigeria. The first act in the formal colonization process was the annexation of Lagos in 1961 At the head of the colonial administrative set-up for the colony called The Settlement Of Lagos was a Governor aided by a ten-man advisory body. This advisory body later called the LegislativeCouncil commissioned in March 1862 was to be the forerunner of actual law-making bodies in the country. February 19, 1866, the Settlement Of Lagos came under the jurisdiction of a new British Colonial sovereignty known as the West African Settlement incorporating the territories of Gold Coast, Lagos, Sierra Leone and the Gambia. Barely one year later, Lagos and Gold Coast were severed from the larger settlement and brought under the jurisdiction of The Gold Coast Colony with its own executive and legislative council. In 1886, the colony was further broken down and Lagos became a separate political unit with its own governor, legislative and administrative council. By this time, the rest of Nigeria had come under colonial rule with the Protectorate of Northern Nigeria administered from Zungeru and Calabar serving as the capital of The Protectorate OF Southern Nigerian. The year 1906 was the turning point in the history of what is now the Nigerian state for its was in this year that the colonial administration began the process of creating an entity out of the disparate peoples of Northern and Southern Nigeria. It unified the Colony of Lagos with the Southern Protectorate and it became The Colony and Protectorate of Southern Nigeria and the Lagos Legislative Council was granted powers to make laws for the entire entity. But it was in 1914 that the unification process was complete. Sir F.J.D. Lugard was appointed Governor of the Colony and Protectorate of Southern Nigeria in 1912 and tasked with the assignment of effecting the unification of the Colony and Protectorate of Southern and the Protectorate of Northern Nigeria. Two years later, this task was accomplished with both colony and protectorates merged into what became The Colony And Protectorate Of Nigeria. Lord Lugard became the Governor and Commander-in-chief of this emerging nation. The Lagos Legislative Council continued to legislate for the Colony and Protectorate of Southern Nigeria, while the Governor made laws for the Northern Protectorate. The emerging nation was, therefore, a product of mergers but it mergers with tenuous links, the reason being the non-existence of a common forum for the elite of the Northern and Southern Protectorates. Kept apart, the natural understanding and confidence-building that flows from interaction would elude them for 32 years until 1946 when the Richards Constitution made interaction possible for Southern and Northern politicians. http://plusmouth..com.ng/2015/10/history-of-nigerian-senate-house.html |
