payless:Better to be a blue devil than a fake devil. Enough with your stupidity. Don't detract the thread! |
Good! This will put you in check from making any frivolous statements. |
@ Payless, I am trying to stop fake people from making false impressions. |
@ Payless, Post your full name and department you graduated from in Duke. I will check to confirm if you are real. If you are actually educated like you claimed, then you should know that most of the products are made in China. When people shop, they buy what they can afford. Try WalMart and see the amount of low quality products. Stop running down Nigeria. |
@ Payless, No need joining issues with ignorant person and probably half - educated. You are not stating any facts. The facts remain the same: there are broad range of quality products from the lowest of the low to the best, period! China makes most of those products, and that is a fact. Posting pictures does not mean anything. People should buy whatever quality products they can afford, home or abroad. |
@ Payless, Your argument is baseless. I was saying that I shop @ home depot regularly and will even be there today. This was to point out that I know a lot about the products they sell in their shops. I was not infering that I will checking MADE IN CHINA when I go there. You need to understand the postings before replying with ignorant comments. I wonder the side of America you live in (white house?). There are a lot of substandard goods here. Go to WalMart, WinCo, JCPenny, Best Buy, Sears, etc, Like I stated before there are BROAD RANGE OF QUALITY from the lowest of the products to the best that dollar can buy. Your statements are pitiful. One does not look down on his home country because he is based in America. I am a proud Nigerian American. But I am Nigerian first. Everyone knows that America is far more developed that Nigeria. That's not the point here, the point I am trying to make is that most of those products can also be found in the top shops in Nigeria (like Mega Plaza in VI and other high end shops). America also have low quality products made for the poor masses. I hope you will use Kohler and American Standard products for your little house in Nigeria! Be real! Let us not detract from the main topic. But I hate fake people trying to be whiter than white. Nigeria is a developing country and we want the place to be better. |
Am Alone:@ Am Alone, Please continue to do the good work in this thread. Much appreciated. @ Payless, Don't get carried away by Kohler products. I am going to homedepot this afternoon. Check all those products, all MADE IN CHINA. It depends on the shop u visited in Lagos / Nigeria. payless: |
payless:@ Payless, Those items you listed are all MADE IN CHINA. Just check under and you will find out. Even in homedepot ( I shop there regularly), you will find out that all those items have broad range in quality and prices. All can be found in the top shops in Naija. Quality for quality, most of those items will be cheaper in Naija. |
How can u say the pumps are functional when they are removed for whatever reasons? Functional pumps will mean they are in current use and serviced up to date. Anyway, get ur acts together before posting more pics. |
If you have the idea of the real costs of Aluminium windows with these sizes, please post them here. Thanks Window sizes: 2350 X 1200, 1800 X 1200, 1200 X 1200, 900 X 1200, 800 X 700, 600 X 600. |
Post evidence to show the land has C of O or Gov's consent. |
@Chyke4, How many plots are available at the moment? What is the size of each plot? Post pictures of the land and evidence to show that the land is gazetted by Lagos State Govt. |
Send clear pictures, if u are serious! |
Great threading, keep up the good job guys! |
LASYEM: |
You are not doing a good marketing with the quality of pictures of the house. Use digital camera (not your phone camera) to take clear and quality pictures of the duplex, and I would let you know about my next plan. |
Is the C of O individual or global? Are the lands free from government development plans/ acquisition? |
chaircover:@chaircover, she decided she does not want the husband when she met another man helping her out. Here in the USA, it is very common. I understand if you doubt the man's story. The other thing is that people get carried away easily when they come over here. @ poster, Sorry that this happened to you. Honestly, I was not surprised to read about it. Love is BLIND, right? The truth is that it happens all the time. I remembered when I was living in one of the European countries few years ago, there were instances of similar abandonment perpetrated by Nigerian women against their husbands. It was the usual story: successful and unsuspecting husbands in Nigeria send their new wives to Europe to have their babies, and the next thing after having the babies, the women will start having affairs and refuse to come back home. You should try and keep the communication open with your wife and hopefully she may allow you to see your son and maintain a close relationship. The courts favor women here. Those giving "evil" advise should refrain from complicating an already hard and difficult situation. Stay blessed! |
GEJ, please focus on the basic foundations and necessities of daily living before embarking on BIG white elephant projects. Nigerians need standard infrastructures and capacity building in education, healthcare, security, power & energy, rail/ road networks and communication systems to expand the economy and create good jobs for the people. |
aaidel:@aaidel, Thanks for the update. This is exactly what will need in this thread. We need to give objective and measurable data. I am not a construction expert, what exactly is a headpan (Is is a measurable unit or is the pan the construction workers carry on their head to move sand/granite/ gravel etc from one area of the site to another?) The more one is informed and educated on these details, the better one can discuss with the builders and engineers, and able to ask them meaningful questions in order to monitor and compare quality and cost. |
The Federal and Borno State governments have failed the peace loving citizens and residents of that State. What an irony as the motto of the State is "Home of Peace." The govt of GEJ remains spineless and unable to deal with irritants and home grown terrorist groups like the so-called BOKO HARAM. Where are the security forces? Bombings everday and no end in sight. |
Am Alone:@ all Civility and etiquette are very important rules to follow when in a public forum. Other people, including Non- Nigerians from around the world that may have interest in building and buying a home in Nigeria may join nairaland, and may I say they will be disappointed at the level of immaturity being displayed in this thread. No need to be emotional and be carried away just because people are erecting structures. Many of us want to start to build in Nigeria. I like this thread and I would suggest we use objective analysis and if you want to question or query anyone's postings, please do so with objective criticism. Thank you all. |
spyder880:@Spyder, Your posts remain very informative and educative. Keep it up! I am following this thread because I will commence a 6BR Mansion soon. This thread is about 6 BR duplex and the real cost. We should always use measurable data and not trying to compare apples and oranges. |
The government can really speed up and grow internet usage in Nigeria by introducing basic computing and internet applications courses in primary and secondary schools as part of the curriculum. My 7- year daughter uses the computer and internet for basic assignments and entertainment. I believe this is the key. The parents will by default learn how to use the internet as a way to assist their kids in completing their assignments. Govt can provide subsidy The provision of constant power supply is also very important. The government is really myopic in the way they have been dealing with power supply. They have been promising uninterrupted power for the past 10+ years and nothing has improved. How about investing in solar power, especially in rural Nigeria? There should be a National Policy and Laws in place to accelerate the growth of e- based business and banking, e-based courses in the tertiary institutions and building of necessary infrastructures to support the IT systems in the country. |
@brabus, do you know the recommended ratio of cement to sand/granite/ gravel etc mixing for such important stages such as foundation/ german flooring and decking and stairs for a Six BR Mansion? If there are any guidelines or recommendations from seasoned builders/ developers and structural engineers, please let us know so that nairalanders will be able to monitor the quality of their projects. Thanks for all your contributions. |
@Spyder880, I am planning a Six-Bedroom Mansion with 2 living rooms and a family room (den). Please can you tell me how many rooms you have from your house design, that will be downstairs and how many upstairs? I need it to be able to make some comparative analysis for my soon to commence project. |
@Spyder880, Good job! I like the way you are updating the building process without any ambiguity. Thanks for that, looking forward to the next update. |
@dolapobore U are still wandering in dreamland. We are discussing borehole right? I have a house in Lagos with borehole and I know the cost is less than 10% of your ridiculous estimate. We need real and serious minded people in this site, and not jesters like dolapobore. Get a grip! |
