I wouldn't consider this a dip. No one in crypt0 goes crazy over a 5% move. Bitc0in is at 60.5k same area it has spent the last 3 weeks. The last dip was that from 50k to 40k

The last thing I'd say today is on the rave about the next this or the next this or that...

I've seen this happen over the years with betece, eith, ada, bnb, doge and even shiba.... Anytime  coyn A pumps folks are looking for the next coyn A.

Fact is, after these years, I'm yet to see the next betece or eith... If you're looking to diversify, look for something that makes such coyns different...

If looking at meme coyns, look for characteristics in that coyn that'd attract whales. Big money doesn't go around buying every coyn.... There are certain characteristics that make whales want to accumulate a coyn...  Like it or not, for a coyn to have a sustained pump, certain things are usually involed, either utility is huge, whales have accumulated loads i.e absorbed selling pressure,  or retail have fomo'd in... Add the last two and you have a doge or shib
InvestmentRe: Investing In Digital Currencies; Looking At The Bigger Picture by Sailor1:
One other chain I'm quite bullish on cos they do something differently is luna... I like the way they implement their decentralised stable coyn a d synthetic stock offerings.... As ust grows, it'd likely attract regulators as

1-2 yrs ago, I was preaching on NL how stable coyns would play a part in crypt0 and finance going forward. With the regulatory crackdown oversight on such stable coyns which are backed by fiat, the crypt0 world would sure evolve as it's always done....

The ust stable coyn built on terra and backed by crypt0 has significant promise. Of course, there are iterations on other chains e.g vai on bsc and dai on eith but Terra is doing something unique with its iteration. Come to think of it, why can't a stable coyn e collateralised on bitc0in and a host of other assets (incl fiat backed stable coyns)... That's every crypt0 traders dream. Dai does this but it's growth hasn't been as strong
InvestmentRe: Investing In Digital Currencies; Looking At The Bigger Picture by Sailor1:
Since the selloff, layer 1 tokens have vastly outperformed. Layer 1 coyns are base tokens of smartchains on which other stuff is built. E.g eith, bnb, one, sol, ftm, dot (listed below). Hopefully, after they cool down, stuff built on them start moving e.g. cake, aave,

I believe defi would form a significant portion of crypt0s future.... Looking at total value locked, these are one of the reasons why eith is a silent achiever. The value locked in eith is more than double the value locked on every other chain put together with change to hold.

Even though the fees on eith are huge, it now seems that big money does not care and like it that way. These high fees only serve to propell the price of eith as a huge amount of eith is burnt daily in fees compared to others. With the last shib pump, an insane amount of eith was burnt in transaction fees as shib is a token built on eith.

What most don't understand is that for their coyn to succeed, the chain on which its built must succeed. If eith fails, same goes for all erc20 token same goes for bnb and binaz smart chain tokens such as cake. That's the reason why I hold some layer 1 at base level

For virtually every other chain outside eith, the selling point are their cheaper fees yet most new innovation is always first built on eith. Imagine if eiths fees drop... That'd kill virtually every other chain.

Like I always say, in tech, there are not always multiple winners. So when diversifying, make sure youre not selling the winner to buy the loser. Good example is selling Apple stock to buy Nokia....

I don't say this many times but if there was a coyn now that stood a chance against betece in the long-term, it would be eith.

Still on bnb,

It's always been part of my portfolio allocated to exchange tokens.. I'm not saying this cos it's pumping but cos it's always managed to keep up with the market. I've been trading bnb since it was below 10usd......

At it's current market cap, moves will of course be gradual but binaz has put alot into it.

Two things I like about it;
a. It usually goes under the radar. This is mostly cos a good number of exchanges have do not list it cos of absurd reasons. You'd hardly see any analysis of bnb like you see of others but yet it continues to outperform them.

b. The tokenomics and utility is significant. Very very few coyns match it in this aspect. I'd say only betece and eith can match its tokenomics
InvestmentRe: Investing In Digital Currencies; Looking At The Bigger Picture by Sailor1: 10:59am On Nov 06, 2021
Who remembers these two charts? Shared both early on this thread

To me, the whole essense of trading is to outperform the market. Bitc0in and to some extent eith are benchmarks for the market. If by trading you can't outperform the market or those two, you're better off holding those two coyns and going to sleep... The whole essense of trading is to outperform the market which truthfully, very few do

Most folks don't own them two cos they believe they're expensive.... What they forget is that those two will continue to outperform 99% of crypt0 coins for a very long time.

Both charts are bnb against betece and eith... Weekly against betece and monthly against eith. To me, bnb has come closest in challenging both since inception.... But even at that, it has struggled

What of hotbit? And which one has low cost of transactions and low or minimum trade in terms of $ and more reliable accordingly or in order @ the bolded?

One of my friends in the states bought over $3k worth of Shiba earlier last year and still holding it. Said he won't sell until it cancels 2 or 3 zeros. Holding few other coins including doge in the same pattern. Billionaire in the making.
I traded doge b4 and still hold it but I don't expect it to make as much returns this time as it did the last.
Doge has a market cap of 30B. A 10x from here will take it to 300B. For reference, eith with all it's utility and huge amounts being burned daily is just over 500 B...

There's a sweet spot where such coyns bring in the best returns. A coyn with 1B market cap needs 49B of new money to do a 50x. A coyn with 50B market cap needs 450B of new money to do a 10x.

With the proliferation of other football tokens, do you think this coin bows to law of TA? Be careful, this token has too many whales and pumps mostly on news
I have some exposure to chz which they're mainly built on. But then, I didn't get as much exposure as I'd have liked...

The distribution isn't great. But the fact it pumps on news is the reason I'm interested in it... I know it was included partly in Messi's transfer which could bring selling pressure. Football coyns pump together and they do so on odd occasions. Juv has held a better structure but it lacks the hype....

Either way, I take a while to fill my bags and would look for confirmation... But there's only so much a hyped token can dip in a trending market.

On splitting a portfolio.... This is something everyone should decide for themselves... I'd share how I do mine. It's worth noting that examples I gave are not exhaustive but most coys would fit into one of these groups.

There are several types of coins in this space. When I allocate my portfolio, I usually have this broad overview in my head to know what goes where... So I don't end up selling winners to buy losers

1. The market movers- this is limited to betece and eith and to some extent Ada.... These one's have stood the test of time...

2. Exchange coyns- during every alt season most exchanges pump their native coyns, I tend to have one or two in my portfolio..these incl bnb, ftt and the rest... Also, most exchange tokens have their siblings.. so when the leader is moving, one can expect te rest to follow. E.g bnb and cake, bake e.t.c.
Added to this group could also be some defi exchange tokens such as crv, dydx, uni...

3. The top 10-20 solid coyns: these are usually coyns that have their own ecosystem or Blockchain... They incl dot, uni, link, sol.... They tend to move at a good pace to. If the market moves, they move. They also have good structure and one knows where to take profits.. I also add one or two to my portfolio

4. These are coyns that could give insane profits but are equally as risky... I have a place for them as listed abv but wouldn't make them the bulk of my portfolio... These incl shib, doge....

5. The blue chip.... These are coyns you picked up on your research that you believe have huge potential but are not really proven... They can turn out to be flops or big wins... I'd include ksm, one, kava, icp, grt... in this group... They can be silent achievers. Coys that give huge profits with few knowing

6. Sport tokens... These are still relatively new and similar to meme coyns, buy they do have a potential for huge upside when you buy the proper dip on them...

7. Micros... These are no name coyns which usually pump towards the later phases of an alyt season... Most are practically useless but would give a 2x overnight... These coyns litter twhe whole place, and sadly seen to be where most folks are invested....

One thing I've been stressing for months here is simple.....

No one can say when this next rally will yop but one thing is certain, most will be bullish at the top and lose their profits... Thats a constant in crypt0...

I've been stressing this for months and cant stress it enough.... If you're going to profit successfuly from this rally, then by now, you should have identified the coyns that'd form the base of your portfolio....
There's a decent chance that most coyns could do a 3x from current positions in the nect 6 months.... Alot of folks would be aimlessly jumping from one coyn to another in the belief that they're day trading.... While this can be good and very profitable for those good at it, most end up buying tops and selling bottoms in the name of day trading....
Someone who accumulated early is better able to appreciate the overextension of the market and know when its time to start averaging out...

I'd say the best way of managing risk in crypt0 is knowing when to average into the market.... Someone who accumulated bitc0in at 30k is not losing sleep over minor moves.... and fact is that group would be the ones to average out before the top while those who say bought at 70k will be calling for higher numbers.

I can't beg folks enough to look at the big picture... That's the ultimate purpose of this thread.. The rally that happened towards the end of last year seems to be repeating itself...... If we don't learn from past mistakes, then we're doomed

you many valid points here.
the individual that believes they are smarter than others just because they are male, have deep psychological issues to resolve because there is no scientific proof of that.
I am all for individual accountability because a blanket accusation also leads to the opposite case, ie. male hating females on the basis of the actions of one or few men.
You make sense... Behaviour shouldn't be generalized. That said, some wrong individual behaviour do stem from a wrong imbibed culture.

Ada is always one coyn thats worthwhile holding.... It's been a strong performer for sometime and its rallies tend to alternate with eith...
News wise, it's smart contracts haven't really taken off...

From a marco view, it looks to be forming another base around 2 just like it did at 1 dollar earlier this year... As bitc0in seems to be set on another rally and of course an alyt rally afterwards, this might be the final loadup point for Ada....

I've staked my ada for 3 months and would look to add up as close to 2 dolls as possible.

One space I'm watching is the the remittance... The likes of Facebook and Twitter have been working hard on Crypt0 based remittance and beginning to role out offerings. MasterCard and Visa are also fighting hard to catch up so they don't end up as Nokia.

why are you using men as if he spoke out of a consensus with "Nigerian Men"?
There is no woman hating culture you can prove generally but there are badly socialised individuals who hate women and vice versal.
anyways, lets not distract the useful conversation happening here.
The was a reason I strayed into the general nairaland culture...I believe that statement stemmed from the female hating culture is rife on NL. Sadly, it's continued to grow. Most ladies are easily shouted down as an 0l0sho. You see alot of male folks congregate on a female only thread to reign abuses and to them, thats being alpha.

I had to create a thread a while back for the those who kept repeating that 'Nigerian ladies are useles and who felt foreign ladies were better. I had to explain that it's in the female nature to be hypergamous. (which isn't a bad thing). Nature has made it that way to enhance evolution of species. Even on this thread, once had to adress someone who kept repeating a certain phase- told the chap to limit his comments to women in his circle.

Finally, it's good it was addressed promptly by many so that it didn't linger

The thing I like about bitc0in and crypt0 is that in the grand scheme of things, its still early days... It's just edging into mainstream adoption....

When bitc0in was below 20k, I did say I had more confidence in the longevity of bitc0in and crypt0 than I did on the Naira... Then, I sounded like a rascal to most. Today my conviction is beginning to pan out... Not necessarily because bitc0in has gone on a rally but because the underlying dynamics are becoming obvious- bitc0in has continued to transcend borders and while the Nigeria and the naira looks more fragile. If bitc0in was a currency, it'd be 13th worldwide by market cap while the naira sits at 45. Worse still, the naira is set in its path of inflation while the bitc0in is deflationary and should ultimately trend higher with time.

One thing thing I like Bitc0in for is that knowing a good time buy even for somone who doesn't follow the space,  can be straightforward... anyday I wake and see a flurry of posts and comments like I saw on nairaland in May, then I know the time to buy is near.... Like I always say, if one loses money trading the most bullish asset of the last decade- one that has outperformed virtually every other asset class by at least 10x, then they have no one else but themselves to blame.

InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Sailor1:
A couple of days ago, bitc0in was trading at a very very modest 66,000 usd...

I scrolled back to mid May on this thread and while smiling read from page 1895 to a few pages afterwards
https://www.nairaland.com/878880/treasury-bills-nigeria/1894

Quite interesting how quickly a market can change....
I took the liberty of attaching 3 quotes I made then...

1.
jedisco:
I remember this post from a while back....

Today 3 months after, bitc0in nicely hit 30k....
Of course, the narratives are numerous and the FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) is everywhere...

For those who have waited to get into bitc0in, this might represent an opportunity, for those who believe, it'd eventually go to zero, again I say no worries.
2.
jedisco:
Of course, if bitc0in goes below 30k, I'd get some put in a cold wallet and let it be.... 3-6 months down the line, I'd look at what the price is and if I'm lucky its at 45k, I'd sell for over 50% profit. That's good enough for me..... The fact that bitc0in has not gone to zero as a good number predicted is good enough
3.
jedisco:
I love to diversify... But as tricky as investing can be and off all the stuff I invest in, if I was asked to name some that I could with some degree of certainty say I can buy today and in the next 2-3years, easily liquidate for profit, bitc0in would be top on that list... Worse still, I can stake it at 7% pa and let in cool down

Regarding, the naira, it's our national currency and difficult to criticize...but when Emiefele started his magic, I simply converted my naira to stable coyns at market price... Around that time, people were looking for where and how to buy dollars. If I wanted to, I could equally stake these stable coyns for about 7% pa and also not bother about volatility in naira or crypt0...

The crypt0 market has grown to almost 2 trillion dollar market cap. Whether I invest or not means nothing to the market....
It all still brings me to a something I've said on multiple occasions- that just as the internet did with communication, crypt0 will challenge and change the way value is held and transacted in ways we cannot yet imagine....

I usually would not blow my trumpet but on certain occasions, it's deserved.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Sailor1: 6:43pm On Oct 22, 2021
With reviews, one thing worth remembering is that its usually those that have problems that come out to give reviews... Hence when you go to the comments section of most apps (even well rated ones) on playstore, Twitter or Facebook, its usually full of complaints...

I took the liberty to look at mainstream bank apps on playstore... They all had worse ratings with numerous complaints. Kudas app does perform better than similar app only banks.
I'd guestimate that an overwhelming majority of kuda users have had no issues whatsoever...

Regarding new models, most would thread with caution and only place little sums there. With time their confidence in the platform increases. Also, they could more easily build a savings section where they pay people rates better tgan mainstream banks on held deposits. If the NSE was going to upgrade and enable folks buy and trade stocks easily on mobile as a way of attracting the youth, then Kuda is better suited than most others...
In all, they're still a young company but rate of growth has been impressive.

Thank you for this. I wanted to buy but looking at the chart I noticed that it is dipping. I will put an eye on it and buy when it gets to 0.27. Please which other coin will you advice me to buy now that has the possibility of doing great grin this week.
Sometimes the question people ask are funny. If I knew a coyn that was going to do well this week, I'd sell all my property and buy the coin.

On doge, I'd advise you not to go near it at these levels until it either retraces proper or flips 0.45 convincingly.....

Regarding what I think still has room, I'd tell you what I'm in and my targets...
Bch... Target is 1200

Zil...target is 0.245
LTC...target is 298
Egld... target is 210

I would have to swap to fiat and then to another coin which means accepting the loss on XLM.

Probably only XRP was the candidate to recover the difference, but too late now. So far XLM still has plenty upside to the high it achieved before BeeTee corrected, it would still be one of my picks as I like to signpost growth potential against recent highs achieved.

It is a laggardly coin but if the likes BTCash and Eithy Classic have market, I don't see why XLM won't
In a market as volatile as crypt0, loss is part of the game... Sometimes, its better to cut losses early or seek better opportunities elsewhere. The most important thing is that losses are few and shallow and profits outweigh them... But then, on xlm, no need to cut... It's just another pullback.

On Xlm, good chance it sees 0.64 before a possible retrace. It seems to have formed an awkward inverse head and shoulder which should make it see 0.64...

It's one of the old cargoes... It'd sure have its time.... Just that 'the masses' have left them for newer shiny stuff. In the past, xlm used to do x2 of xrp...but now na snail...

Another is LTC... I took a position at 255... My initial target is 300... Good chance it'd get there if betece holds but the thing just dey waka slowly... For a 17% move, it's spending so much time... Sometimes, I dey like the quick movers so I can lock in some profits quickly...

I was quite lucky with ETC... Noticed it had gone on a rally recently so I targeted it on the pullback. I'm still watching it.....when a coyn does you well, you go back for another

Quick 30% on this... Closed half for good profits.. let half continue with a target of 0.35... would close if I start seeing weakness..

Doge seems to be a gift that keeps giving...

Looking forward, I wouldn't be bidding same support twice on the way down...

I've attached a 6hrly chart of doge after the last pump... It kept bouncing off the 21 ema level until it had a second top about a week later...

The 21 ema on the 6hrly chart is currently at 0.215 (not constant)... I'd be bidding that level and selling on bounces...

Doge will keep pumping and be sold into... This market repeats itself. Retail folks would not stop buying doge for a while... Me na to dey buy low and sell for good profits...
Hehe... Another alert recieved... This one was sweet cos I traded it with size...

Quoted was my plan a few weeks ago, though betece wanted to thwart it, but my God no gree....

After the selloff, I got in heavy at 0.27 and added more at 0.3...
So far,
Took 25% off at 0.395
50% off at 0.4
Left the remaining 25% for a target of 0.42

Overall, approximately 45% profits on this.... Baba God noni

Taking some profits into fiat, and would cycle some into vet and bch....

Looking forward, if it takes 0.45 convincingly (I doubt), I'd look for an entry, otherwise, on the 5hr chart (attached), I see a possible 'inverse head and shoulder' forming... Already its formed the left shoulder and the head.. A good possibility of a dip to 0.27 to complete the pattern... Eitherway, if it gets there (0.27), I have no problem going this trip again.

i just wanted to know your entry points and if you trade daily and what percentage do you go out of the market per coyn
It's a mix...
A good chunk of my trades are entries I make when the market conditions are right and I allow them ride for a while... Most times in months... Usually I use a seperate account for this or I stake them to get some profits and they're out of my view.

On other occasions, when I have the time and market conditions are right, I swing trade..i.e target entry and exits on coyns depending on what betece is doing.. These may happen in a fay or take a few days.

Percentage per coyn is dependent on support and resistance levels. My targets are always based on a previous range
