wirinet: I honestly do not see the problem beyond ego centric problem especially by government and its officials. If as okupe said, there is nothing extraordinary about the 4 new demands by ASUU, then why is the government so annoyed? If it is just to sign what had already been agreed it by the attorney general and the inclusion of a universally accepted non victimization clause, then wherein lies the problem?...... I think ASUU would have won the ppls mind by given gej a benefit of doubt! If he fails †̥ implement ASUU's demand! They can now come back †̥ desk! Don't u think is annoying? After several ours they spent with the president, they promised getin back †̥ president that they want †̥ pass d message †̥ the various chapters. Which dey did and 75% agreed †̥ call-off the strike.. If they had adhead †̥ the turnout..... Proof festus Iyaya would still be breathing today! Instead they went further for a nec meeting which they said the Fagge himsef was not part of and all calls †̥ reach wasn't thru!! Hoping there would b a goood news, instead they came up with conditions else they won't call off the strke,, I understand FG has failed them but since they were able †̥ meet with Gej in person! They would have just respected his office and see if he will keep †̥ it! Den if he fails †̥? The public will see its all from d president!! ASUU has lost it all cos its so obvious that fagge is upto someting and Gej will not allow such!! I suggest they call it off and see what's happens January!! |
esbjay@gmail.co:just listen †̥ ursef...... |
ASUU should go †̥ hell for all I care!! ASUU is the key problem of our Education system! |
gbengadada2004: Sincerely, I don't think threatening ASUU to go back to class (without any concrete and documented agreement) is a rational thing to do. Nigerian leaders are shameless. Primary schools in some other countries are better than the best Nigerian university. I spent my first few months abroad weeping. I was asking God and myself: ''why is Nigeria like this''? Nigerian students sit on benches (some don't even have seats) including where I lecture. Many lecturers do not have office blocks. I have never used power point to teach in Nigeria (because there is no facility to carry it). Researches are not funded. Lecturers are paid peanuts. I told someone my salary and he was surprised. Lecturers earn over £4000 monthly (1millon naira) in the UK. They have grants (some over £1million in 2 years) to conduct research. They have access to world-class journals free, textbooks and other teaching materials. Many teach just one or two courses (I was teaching 8 in a week). Many of the people that kept Nigeria where it is today have their children abroad, and these children are sponsored with stolen wealth (I know how many are in my school). Sometimes I wonder if Nigerian political actors have conscience at all..... Thank God u'v travelled out †̥ see for ur self... Did u ask the reason they are being paid such huge amount of money?? 1. They don't produce half-backed graduates †̥ their country. 2. They don't sell handouts †̥ their students. 3. They don't oppress the students. 4, they don't take bribe †̥ pass students. 5. They don't force their female student †̥ bed. 6. They are not curtist.7. They don't use 10yrs lesson note †̥ teach their student 8. They are proud of their job. 9.they are not lazy lecturers. Finally they are not greedy but contended with their pay... Plz learn †̥ be a good judge.... |
But while will Nigerian politicians go this length?? Gej said it that the ASUU struggle is political and I think he's ryt cos is obvious now! Why will APC us ASUU †̥ fight PDP, when they knew the student, marketers, parents are in the loosing end? I beg Nigerian politician †̥ learn †̥ use methods that will help Nigerian in moving forward while seeking for power!! How will APC feel if such is done †̥ dem? For all I care is Nigerians Advancement not APC nor PDP!! God plz give our presido the strength †̥ do that will change 9ja for good! |

Mynd_44: Make than 5 time bitten.Good....... And ASUU should also be ready †̥ sign an agreement with FG too, that if after putting in all this funds in the sector withing the period of 5yrs!! ASUU should make sure Nigerian students won't be half-backed graduates....... Else FG should/will dissolve dis Union(ASUU).... The Agreements should be in 2ways. |

Aboki-polish:... Good looks with evil minds........ Abacha is the most handsome among past leader.......... Gues wht?? He was also d most wicked among dem too!! |
engrfcuksmtin: Am suprised @ the opinion of some posters in this thread on the no work no pay issue. Majority of us disagree with the policy of FG for withdrawing relief from from Biafara during the war? The policy is as good as good as the biafara/fg issue. Why should the govt go into an agreement that they view as not feasible? The argument that it was made by the previous administration does not hold water because if the present government can inherit foreign reserves from previous administration they shiuld be able to implement agreement reached by the the previous admistration. Looking at the agreement only 21% is for allowances which will be enjoyed by both. academic and non academic staff (most universities has paid non academic staff their share of the 30billion sent to them but rejected theirs on moral grounds). The argument of moral decadence among lecturers is not far from the truth (a common phenomenon in every sector of our dear country) but the fact remains that Universities in Nigeria are poorly funded and there is need for rescue. If ASUU considers the student that are at home currently how about the future students? What will they meet? Considering what is on ground presently......God save Nigeria..... The problem in our Educational system won't end over night! I suggest ASUU should call off the strike and do over-hauling among d lecturers!! |
Olumidzti: how many days do your senators sit per week? & how much do they get?...... That's not the issue here, and even @that......if the lecturers wants †̥ earn like the senators? The had better go †̥ the pull and face the risk in being a Senator!! I support no work no pay rule joor!! ASUU should call of the damn strike.. D educational system cannot turn around overnight!! |
Hmmmmm........ Finally!! Up Gej. |
princemolak: Ex colonel? its a pity.....I keep saying it, the problem of Nigeria today. All generated from the northerners..... Whatsoever the problem may be goes †̥ them! Just imagine! Have always prayed for 1nigeria, but I think it will be better we go part ways cos they are not ppl one can live with?? The name Nigeria started in their hands and dis's where we are..... High rate of corruption, assassin, kidnapping, stealing... Just name it! All was as a result of the seed they sowed! They just came †̥ destroy the blessings bestowed on Nigerians with their selfish/greedy/ wicked minds!! Let's God's own ways be done in 9ja!! |

.... FG only sign an MOU not Agreement ooo! ASUU just changed the whole thing else they would have gone †̥ court!!! ASUU wants †̥ manage government lands so dey can privatise it!! ASUU should keep waiting for d N3trn!! Rubish! |
HNosegbe: The part of the agreement I don't understand is one that talks about FG funding of state universities. That doesn't make sense to me - why can't states fund their own universities appropriately, or design creative financing options?..... FG only sign an MOU not Agreement ooo! ASUU just changed the whole thing else they would have gone †̥ court! |
braine: Its the one in mosques she saw? She should come on Twitter and Nairaland to see what people are really saying• Its not her fault or problem since her children are all lounging at Harvad•in as much we blame ASUU/FG is not a yardstick for all dt insults on our Beloved minister......
