Besides a lot of issues students are currently facing in Canada also has to do with Nigeria. I met a woman who came to visit her son who is an undergraduate in a university in Canada. She just paid the third year school fees of her son but she needed double more naira to pay the fees even though the school fees in Canadian Dollars was still the same as what she paid for her son 2 years ago. She had to sell one of her properties to raise the money cos the son can't drop out at this stage. If naira was stable it won't be this bad for students at least.

First off, I am not "consoling" myself in anyway, and I have friends and colleagues that migrated there via Skilled and Student Visa respectively. Migration is not my priority now.

Now, who taught you in today's world to strictly correlate population with the strength of the economy and number of job openings available?

Japan is is the world's 4th largest economy with 125m people and has 609k jobs advertised; Italy is the 9th largest economy with 58m and has only 168k jobs. Now in a deep contrast, China is the second largest economy with 1.4 bn people, yet it has 1.2m jobs.

In these scenarios, we see that UK with a much smaller population has slightly more jobs than Japan, which ranks ahead of it in both population and economy.

Then also, Italy with a larger population and economy than Canada has significantly lower job opening than the latter.

The same holds for the US too. There's a stark disparity in the job openings when compared to China and these two economies are the top two in the world, with China having a whole lot more population than the US.

Bringing it down to Africa, if we are to go by your "statistics", Nigeria ought to have the largest number of job openings in Africa, but is that the case?

It has a measly 8k job openings, while South Africa (with a much smaller population) has more jobs openings—33k jobs and Egypt has 13k jobs.

Truth be told, those Nigerians in Canada dey hear am. At this point, even the UK is a bit better than Canada especially in the area of jobs. The latter is not even a global leader in any key industry, and good jobs are very scarce.

Now, it's very difficult to get almost any kind of visa to Canada now. A simple LinkedIn search on "Jobs in Canada" results in 272k jobs; For the UK it's 650k; and the US is 5.8M jobs.

If any miracle happens and Nigeria's economy returns to near pre-2015 and security improves, I'm almost certain that most of those those in Canada will fly back!

Nearly all the successful entrepreneurs in Nigeria and beyond have once worked in a structured company for as few as 3 months to as much as 2 decades.

The few exceptions are individuals that comes from families with strong multigenerational experience in businesses or families with deep-pockets who can afford to float their ward's business infinitely—profitable or not!

The benefits are much, as it'll ground you on workflow, inter-departmental processes, new product development etc.

As a graduate trainee in a good firm, at least 2 years experience in it you will give you a decent foundation for you to start your own firm effortlessly, provided the funds are there.
