Jose Mourinho will continue to receive mega money from Chelsea FC as a result of his dismissal as manager last week.

Chelsea changed things up last Thursday as they sacked Jose Mourinho after a loss against Leicester City proved to be the final straw for owner Roman Abramovich. With the club racking up nine losses in 16 Premier League games to that point, the Russian billionaire eventually severed ties with the Special One, ending his second stint in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho had signed a new four-year contract this summer after leading the Blues to both Premier League and League Cup glory last season. Consequently, the club will reportedly pay the price for dispensing with his services. The Telegraph details the supposed terms of the severance package.

Under the terms of his Stamford Bridge departure, it is believed Mourinho will continue to be paid by Chelsea until he finds another job. It is also understood, however, that Chelsea will have to make up the shortfall in any wage cut Mourinho accepts at a new club until the end of this season.

Louis van Gaal is under increasing pressure at Old Trafford after Manchester United were beaten by Norwich City.

The Canaries flew away with the three points as goals from Cameron Jerome and Alexander Tettey sealed victory at the Theatre of Dreams.
Defeat to Norwich made it six games without a win for the Red Devils and leaves them nine points adrift of Premier League leaders Leicester.
United have already crashed out of the Champions League this season and now face the embarrassment of having to play in the Europa League.
Under-fire van Gaal urged his Reds to stick together after their latest setback and told them to believe in themselves despite a poor run.
But if the Manchester United board don’t share his view, who could the club look to as a replacement for the Dutchman.

President Yahya Jammeh has declared the Gambia "an Islamic state", but stressed that the rights of the Christian minority in the small west African country would be respected and that women would not be held to a dress code. The announcement came as the president addressed supporters in the coastal town of Brufut on Thursday, and the comments were later broadcast on state television and repeated on his website.
"Gambia's destiny is in the hands of the Almighty Allah. As from today, Gambia is an Islamic state. We will be an Islamic state that will respect the rights of the citizens," he was quoted as saying on the presidential website. In television footage of the address on GRTV, seen by AFP on Saturday, the president did not go into detail about what the change would mean for the country, but he reassured Christians and followers of other faiths they would be able to worship freely.

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Abubakar Audu, has emerged winner of the Kogi State Governorship election held on Saturday.

With results from the state’s 21 local governments now counted, Mr. Audu garnered 240, 867 votes as against the 199, 514 votes scored by his closest challenger, Ibrahim Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The APC candidate defeated the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate and incumbent governor, Mr. Wada, in 16 of the 21 local government areas in the state.

Mr. Audu has 41,353 more votes than Mr. Wada.

The local governments won by Audu are Ofu, Ida, Kabba Bunu, Yagba East, Yagba West, Adavi, Koton Karfi, Ankpa, Okehi, Ajaokuta, Ijumun, Olamaboro, Igalamela, Bassa, Lokoja, and Ibaji.

The PDP was victorious in five local governments namely Ogori Mangogo, Omala, Okene, Dekina and Mopa-moro.

Mr. Audu is returning as governor of the state 12 years after he was defeated by the PDP as he sought a second term.

He is being prosecuted by the anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, of misappropriating N11 billion of the state’s funds while he was governor between 1999 and 2003.

Mr. Audu has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

At the trial of the corruption case on March 4, the EFCC also accused Mr. Audu of ordering one of his aides to assault Haruna Ashade, an EFCC operative, for daring to take his photograph in court.

But despite his ongoing corruption trial, the former governor emerged winner of the APC governorship primary held in Lokoja on August 29.

He polled 1, 109 votes to beat his closest rival, Yahaya Bello, who scored 703 votes.

Once he is sworn in as governor in the next few weeks, his trial would have to be suspended as he would be covered by constitutional immunity from trial for the four years he would be in power.

For the second year in a row, the president of Russia, Vladmir Putin has been ranked as the most powerful person in the planet.

Defeating Barack Obam of the USA who came in as the second most powerful man and Xi Jinping, the premier of China who came in as number three and is described as the most powerful Chinese ruler since Mao Zedong, Forbes had this to say about Vladmir Putin, #1:

“We took some heat last year when we named the Russian President as the most powerful man in the world, but after a year when Putin annexed Crimea, staged a proxy war in the Ukraine and inked a deal to build a more than $70 billion gas pipeline with China (the planet’s largest construction project) our choice simply seems prescient. Russia looks more and more like an energy-rich, nuclear-tipped rogue state with an undisputed, unpredictable and unaccountable head unconstrained by world opinion in pursuit of its goals.”

Others who made the list of the world’s most powerful 25 were Supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Khameni who came in at #19. Narendra Modi of India.
