Linda Ikeji is giving us sibling goals with her latest acquisition, a brand new Mercedes Benz GLE for her sister, Sandra.

Although it is not Sandra’s birthday, Linda revealed that she simply bought the car as a token of appreciation for her hardwork over the years.

She wrote on her Instagram page;

To the most hard working woman and best human being I know. When I started my company in 2004, whenever I dressed up to go to work, she would dress up and follow me. Almost every day for 7 years. Except when she had to go to school. For years, we didn’t make much but she never stopped believing in me or hustling with me. She worked as hard as I did, if not more for our lives to be better. All of it can well be considered as a desperate damage control exercise on the part of the CEO. It can also be taken as an admission of sorts of the mess they have made and how they wish to prevent the same in future.

Russia's Central Election Commission says the turnout in the presidential election has exceeded 50 percent.

The commission says 51.9 percent of Russia's nearly 111 million eligible voters have cast ballots as of 5 p.m. Moscow time (1400 GMT).

Election officials say efforts to encourage a higher turnout are in line with the law. Some Russians have reported being pressured by employers to show up and vote.

Election commission chief Ella Pamfilova also says officials around the country are taking quick measures in response to claims of violations.

Independent election observers and activists have alleged numerous incidents of ballot stuffing and other irregularities in Sunday's vote, which President Vladimir Putin is certain to win.

Russia's Central Election Commission says it is quickly responding to claims of violations in the presidential vote.

Commission chief Ella Pamfilova says "we are immediately reacting to all claims no matter where they come from." She says officials quickly sealed a ballot box in the southern city of Rostov-on-Don where ballot stuffing was reported.

Election officials have responded similarly to allegations of ballot stuffing in the town of Lyubertsy just outside Moscow and the far eastern town of Artyom and have been looking into several other complaints.

Pamfilova's deputy, Nikolai Bulayev, says "we are not hiding ... even the smallest violations."

Independent election observers and activists have alleged numerous incidents of ballot stuffing and other irregularities in Sunday's vote, which President Vladimir Putin is certain to win.

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny says he has boycotted the presidential election and is advising other Russians to do the same.

Navalny has been barred from the presidential campaign because of a criminal conviction widely seen as politically motivated. He has urged his supporters not to vote because of the absence of any real competition in Sunday's election, which President Vladimir Putin is set to win easily.

Navalny says in a video posted on YouTube that "on election day, one should usually want to say 'I voted,' but in fact I'm here to say that I didn't go to vote."

He criticized the seven contenders challenging Putin for failing to protest ballot stuffing and other irregularities that were tainting the election, saying on his blog that "such candidates aren't worthy of your vote."

Russian election officials say they are looking into several incidents of ballot stuffing in the presidential vote.

One incident was recorded in the town of Lyubertsy just outside Moscow. Irina Konovalova, the head of the election commission for the Moscow region, says all ballots in the box were declared invalid.

And in the far eastern town of Artyom a man tossed several ballots into the box, according to Tatiana Gladkhikh, the head of the regional election commission. She says the ballot box was sealed and the man was arrested.

What happens when you take the Overwatch League's top two teams and make them face off in a rematch? Ask New York Excelsior and Seoul Dynasty fans, who just witnessed one of the most intense series that stage two has to offer yet.

But just like Dynasty and Excelsior's match-up during stage one, the night ended with a tiebreaker win for New York, a hard-fought victory achieved only after dozens of intense back-and-forth teamfights throughout the night.

President Trump has chosen a new secretary of state, untested in diplomacy but more attuned to the president’s views and way of conducting foreign policy, at a time when the United States is facing an array of delicate and potentially dangerous national security challenges.

Seeking what he called “a different mind-set, a different thinking,” Trump said Tuesday that he was replacing the reserved and cautious Rex Tillerson with CIA Director Mike Pompeo, a former House of Representatives firebrand with strong “America First” and hard-line Republican credentials.
“With Mike, Mike Pompeo, we have a very similar thought process. I think it’s going to go very well,” Trump said as he left the White House for a trip to California.

Last year's 89th Oscars ended in chaos and confusion, making it the talk of the world. Conversely, Sunday night's 90th Oscars — which was hosted, directed, produced and even stage managed by the exact same people — went about as smoothly as the Academy could have hoped, but it, too, deserves its own chapter in the history books.

This was an Oscars ceremony that had a lot going for it. Humor and charm (Jimmy Kimmel is the Bob Hope of his generation, and this year, as best I can recall, President Donald Trump's name never came up). Memorable presenters (it was lovely to see Golden Age legends like Eva Marie Saint and Rita Moreno receive standing ovations, and surreal to see Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway present best picture again). Diverse and popular winners (I had never seen a standing ovation for a cinematographer until Roger Deakins' first win on his 14th nomination, or a quicker standing ovation than the one accorded Jordan Peele's best original screenplay win or any standing ovation during a commercial break until Guillermo del Toro returned to his seat with his best director Oscar). And truly special moments (including Kimmel and friends' trip across Hollywood Boulevard to thank the moviegoing public, and the performances of the five impressive best original song nominees, one of which featured 10 people who "stood up for something"wink.

Sure, some of the montages and presenters were a bit random, but overall, the show played really well.

The club lag 13 points behind fourth‑placed Tottenham Hotspur and the Europa League appears to have become their only shot at Champions League qualification. They play Milan in the last 16.
Wenger heard the travelling fans call for him to leave during a dismal first half at the Amex Stadium but he maintained he was the right man to revive the club’s faltering fortunes. This was a fourth successive defeat in all competitions – the first time the Frenchman has endured such a sequence since 2002.

Russian President Vladimir Putin boasted Thursday that Russia has developed a new generation of nuclear weapons capable of bypassing any missile defense system — a claim that drew a rebuke from the White House and raised the specter of a rekindled Cold War-style arms rivalry.

Some analysts said the bellicose tone of Putin's state of the nation speech appeared mainly meant to bolster a tough image in advance of this month's presidential election, in which his victory is a foregone conclusion. Others questioned whether the new Russian weapon, if it exists, would represent a genuine threat to American security.

South Korea’s president, Moon Jae-in, has worked hard to be a matchmaker in this month’s Winter Olympics, getting North and South Korea to march together in the opening ceremony and tirelessly urging visiting dignitaries from the North and the United States to talk. But as the 16-day Games end on Sunday and the Olympic euphoria wears off, Mr. Moon may find the hard part of managing these relationships is just beginning.
On Sunday, Mr. Moon scored a potential diplomatic breakthrough when Kim Yong-chol, a senior North Korean official attending the closing ceremony, said the North was willing to open dialogue with the United States.
It was unclear whether Mr. Kim attached any preconditions. After Vice President Mike Pence met with the South’s leader this month, American officials said they were open to holding preliminary talks with North Korea — but only to reassert their position that sanctions and pressure will not let up until the North starts denuclearizing.

Mohamed Salah scored in Liverpool's 4-1 win over West Ham at Anfield
It was another busy day of Premier League action on Saturday with action at both ends of the table.

While Mohamed Salah continued his amazing record in front of goal for Liverpool, West Brom's misery went on at the bottom.
Here, we pick out five of the best stats from Saturday's games.
Salah's deadly left foot
Mohamed Salah was among the goals yet again as Liverpool moved up to second in the Premier League table thanks to their 4-1 win over West Ham at Anfield. Salah got Liverpool's second with Emre Can, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane also among the goals.
Salah's strike puts him level with Harry Kane on 23 Premier League goals for the season but it is the number of left-footed goals that he has scored that cannot be matched. Salah is the first player in Premier League history to score 20 goals in a single season with his left foot.
Pardew's dismal record
If Alan Pardew was hoping for a response from his players on their return to Premier League action following the shenanigans in Spain, he did not get it. West Brom's 2-1 defeat at home to Huddersfield leaves them rooted to the foot of the table with any hope of survival fading.

Sports / Antonio Conte Says He Needs To Settle Differences With Chelsea Board To Stay by salau01(m): 8:36pm On Feb 21, 2018
Antonio Conte has admitted he would need to settle his differences with the Chelsea board if he is to see out the final year of his contract but would expect “several different scenarios” to open up at rival clubs should he depart in the summer.

Conte masterminded an impressive display in Tuesday’s Champions League last-16 draw against Barcelona, when Chelsea were the more threatening side despite the visitors’ monopoly on possession.

The Chelsea manager has seemed calmer over recent weeks after months of stuttering results and (largely recruitment-based) disputes behind the scenes, and he was back to his firebrand best on the touchline.

He described the performance as “almost the perfect game” but talk quickly drifted back to the 48-year-old’s future when he was interviewed by the Italian media. “In 14 years, Chelsea have changed coach 10 times, so they do have a tendency to chop and change here,” he told Mediaset Premium. “The media plays on this when the results are negative and they were already talking about me getting sacked after we lost the first game of the season to Burnley.

“But it’s no problem for me. In fact, I really like pressure. I just hope it doesn’t affect the players. In our line of work, we always have a bag packed. My intention is to remain here but if something were to change, there would be several different scenarios opening up.

“It’s no problem for me. I have said very clearly I have a contract to 2019 and I intend to respect it but anything can happen in football. I’m happy here but, to move forward with the marriage, everyone needs to be in agreement. All parties must be happy.”

The Italian Football Federation has expressed an interest in reappointing Conte as Italy’s manager, though he is more likely to remain in the club game if as expected, given his tempestuous relationship with the board, he leaves Stamford Bridge early. There could be openings in the summer at Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and both Milan clubs, positions he would surely find tempting.

As an opponent I suffered the Alba-Messi society often; let someone else suffer it now,” Ernesto Valverde said. And yet it has never been as productive as this season, their first under the former Athletic Bilbao manager. Alba has benefited more than anyone else from the departure of Neymar:
handed almost the entire left wing, the results have been spectacular – especially when he combines with Messi, which he does often. No one has more assists in Spain than Messi; only five players have more than Alba. And it is each other they are looking for: Alba has provided seven assists for Messi. When Alba progresses up the left, reaching the byline, his typical ball is pulled back towards Messi, dashing into the area, behind the defensive line, which is drawn towards its own goalkeeper by Luis Suárez. When Messi has the ball in a deep, just-right-of-centre position, the run he looks to often is Alba, sprinting in behind the full-back. “Only Leo sees those passes,” Alba says. And even if opponents see it coming, that doesn’t mean they can stop it. “We’d seen it, we’d analysed it, we’d worked on it, everyone does,” said Valencia’s assistant coach Rubén Uría when the classic Messi-Alba undid them at Mestalla. “But with that touch Messi has; he puts it in just the place for Jordi to score a great goal.”

Founder and leader of Zimbabwe’s Movement for Democratic Change party who battled Mugabe for years With the death of Morgan Tsvangirai at the age of 65 from cancer, Zimbabwe has lost a man of conspicuous courage. He took the country’s political scene by storm, becoming president Robert Mugabe’s only serious rival for the better part of two decades, and campaigned until the end for a better country with greater democracy and transparency.

Tsvangirai became prime minister of Zimbabwe in September 2008 as part of a power-sharing agreement with Mugabe. He was sworn in the following year, and remained in office till 2013, but the path to get there had been long and vexed.

Tsvangirai’s decision to help found, then lead, the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) in 1999 decisively tilted the political struggle in Zimbabwe from one between civil society and government to one that was based on a contest between political parties. He was arrested in both 2000 and 2003 on unsuccessful treason charges and, in 2007, was badly beaten while in custody. Even his bitterest enemies and detractors acknowledged his courage and determination.

Born in Gutu, Masvingo in the south-east of the country, Tsvangirai grew up in a poor family, one of nine children of Chibwe, a bricklayer, and his wife, Lydia, and never attained the educational qualifications required for university study. Much later, when already in political life, he attended Harvard’s Kennedy school programme for executive leadership, and tried to make up for his lack of extended education by assiduous reading. He had a liking for political biographies, and his hero was Nelson Mandela.

Mugabe had been a hero too, but when Tsvangirai began his career as a union official, first as vice president of the Associated Mine Workers Union in the late 1980s, and particularly as secretary-general of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions from 1988 to 2000, he began disputing Mugabe’s decision to implement economic structural adjustment programmes that badly affected his members. He was beaten by Mugabe’s thugs at this time, most spectacularly in 1997 when assailants tried to throw him out of a skyscraper window. However, they failed to intimidate him and, by the second half of the 1990s, he had become a formidable opponent of Mugabe and his Zanu-PF government.

Sports / Klopp Reveals Why Liverpool Are Top Contenders by salau01(m): 2:07pm On Feb 14, 2018
Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has insisted that his team is among the top contenders for this year’s Champions League, as they have defeated the best team left in the competition, Manchester City.

The Reds have arrived in Northern Portugal, where they will take on FC Porto on Wednesday in a round of 16 clash.

Klopp is already looking ahead to the latter stages and claims they are not afraid of heavyweights like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG and Barcelona.

Asked if he looks at those teams and thinks he can compete with them, he replied: “I know it already we can compete with them, I don’t have to look at them.

“I think probably the strongest football team in Europe at this moment is Manchester City. So we played them twice already at the highest level.

“PSG is a little different, but I don’t look at them, I know it already (we can compete with them). If we meet them (Manchester City) then we could beat them. That is how it is.”

Music/Radio / Top Five Songs On My Valentine's Day Playlist by salau01(m): 6:09am On Feb 14, 2018
Valentine’s Day, that grandest alloy of sexuality, affection, and materialist orgy that provokes some of the loneliest and saddest feelings of the year in at least 22% of us, might be the most Harvard holiday we celebrate. In order to help us all find some love (or at least some sincere emotion) this holiday, I hereby present the five most appropriate—though not necessarily best—songs on my killer Valentine’s Day Spotify playlist, which the tech wizards over at 14 Plympton Street have embedded in full at the bottom of this article.

5. “Valentine Day” by Paul McCartney
I mean, come on. “Valentine Day,” which shares a name with the damn holiday, is the ideal song to kick off this playlist. Paul McCartney plays every instrument on this multi-tempo jam from his first post-Beatles album. The homemade feel takes you to a place both intimate and far away, as do the lack of words. Let’s face it: Lyrics will probably make you sadder, so why have any at all?

4. “Blue Moon” by Billie Holiday
Dating back to 1934, “Blue Moon” is one of the first examples of modern pop, inspiring countless covers from iconic artists like Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis. But none could match the relaxed bliss of Lady Day’s version. Holiday picks up the tempo and the mood for a “Blue Moon” that truly celebrates the narrator’s transformation from loneliness to exquisite romance. Plus, praying for the lunar spirit to grant you “someone [you] really could care for” sounds a lot less intimidating and more successful than asking your section crush for their number. If that strategy worked for Billie Holiday, The Crimson is proud to endorse it.

3. “A Case of You” by Joni Mitchell
If you’re not in tears by the end of this song from Joni Mitchell’s acclaimed album “Blue,” get out of my face. Stop reading this article. Never open The Crimson’s website again. We don’t want you here. Aching melody, literary lyric, and a vocal performance swimming in vulnerability combine with Mitchell’s typically masterful guitar playing for a devastating masterpiece about a love painfully nearing its end. “A Case of You” impeccably captures the longing and disappointment we all know (right?) from stoplight parties in the Quad.

2. “Hannah Hunt” by Vampire Weekend
Despite their reputation for too-clever Ivy League lyrics, Vampire Weekend can speak to the heart with the best of them. “You and me, we got our own sense of time,” Ezra Koenig sings over an instrumental track of bass and piano that sounds like it’s submerged in water. “Hannah Hunt” is a reflection on a cross-country road trip with the titular girl, creating its own world for the narrator to discover love and intimately discuss his fears. A mid-song shift to harder pop transforms the chorus from hushed vulnerability to terror. Oh, sorry, is this tonally out of line? It’s a great song!

1. “Yellow” by Coldplay
Early Coldplay may not be the obvious choice for #1, but I’ll answer these doubts with a question: Doesn’t haughtiness toward Coldplay come from the same fear of earnest emotional exposure that has classically doomed romantic endeavors? Chris Martin’s lilting falsetto professes a love that encompasses the whole universe: “Look at the stars / Look how they shine for you.” But the song’s simplicity and anthemic riff bring it back down to earth. Unfortunately, the stadium-filling capabilities of “Yellow,” the most romantic track on their excellent debut album, would lead Coldplay down a road that has included “Hymn for the Weekend” and a Chainsmokers collaboration. If Valentine’s Day is the holiday to listen to this gorgeous ode to love, on what tragic day can we listen to “Something Just Like This” and mourn their descent?

(Author’s note: This playlist and the accompanying complex outlook on love date back to last year, when I was single. Now that I’ve found the perpetual bliss of going steady, I merely offer this playlist as a way for my lonelier friends to process all their feelings. Happy Valentine’s Day, Lauren!)

The first taste of anxiety that usually greets contestants of Big Brother reality show occurred on Sunday, when some of the housemates who were earlier nominated in a supposed eviction were all packed in anticipation of possible ejection from the show.

Although the real situation was known to fans of the show who didn’t have to bother trying to keep their favaourite housemates in the house through public voting, the housemates soon knew it was all a hoax after show host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu jostle with tension by first announcing that some of them have been saved, and after a long straight face, disclosed to them it was all one of the tricks of Big Brother.

Celebrities / New Music Alert: Davido; Flora My Flawa by salau01(m): 7:06pm On Feb 12, 2018
It may be a little to early to jump into conclusion but Davido’s newest song ‘Flora my flowa‘ released today February 12th, maybe another new ‘Fia’. Less than 12 hours into the release of the song, fans have already started gushing about how much a hit-maker OBO is.

It is very important for an artiste to start a new music year with a momentous hit which sort of just rub off on his works throughout the year. From the way it is going, it looks like Davido is on the right track. Taking off this year, with winning African Artist of the Year, Song and Video of the Year at the Soundcity MVP in January.

However, the song ‘Flora my flowa‘ which is already available on Youtube might seem just like every other song sounds almost like a freestyle. Considering the hype that came before the release, I would have expected something tighter.

Well, like most Nigerian songs they hit you after several touches maybe if we listen to it more, we would start to feel it as much as others before it.

Politics / Allow Youths Assume Elective, Appointive Positions – UN Tells Nigerian Govt by salau01(m): 8:50pm On Feb 10, 2018
Jayathma Wickramanayake, the United Nations (UN) Secretary General’s envoy on Youth, has urged Nigerian government to make room for greater inclusion youths in governance in order for the country to fully benefit from the dividends of the youth demography.

Ms. Wickramanayake, who made the appeal at a press conference in Abuja on Saturday, said although youths in Nigeria are ready to contribute towards the attainment of the country’s attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), their participation in policy making and implementation process are still fraught with structural and legal challenges.

She commended the National Assembly for passing the Age Reduction Bill aimed at ensuring youths are given greater opportunity to assume both elective and appointive positions in government.

However, the UN envoy urged more legislative houses adopt the bill in order for the country to surmount some of the barriers preventing youths from becoming leading political actors in the country.

On the issue of youth unemployment in Nigeria, Ms. Wickramanayake called for a review of the education curriculum to ensure that youths are taught with proper skills that will match the prevailing needs in the labour market.

On the issue of youth migration from Nigeria to Europe through Libya, the UN youth envoy disclosed that the United Nation is working on a document known as the Global Pact on Migration to ensure that safe and regular migration of young people across continents.

Technology Market / Bitcoin: What Have Experts Said About The Cryptocurrency? by salau01(m): 7:25am On Feb 09, 2018
The American economist credited with predicting the 2008 financial crash has called bitcoin “the mother of all bubbles” and “much worse” than tulip mania. He told Bloomberg TV on 2 February: “It’s on the way down to zero. The fundamental value of bitcoin is zero.”

He said the other 1,300-plus cryptocurrencies were “even worse” and slammed the underlying blockchain technology. He added that blockchain has been around for 10 years and its only application is bitcoin or cryptocurrencies and they “are a scam”.

Roubini tweeted this week: “Cryptocrazies are also criminal Cyber-Terrorists.” He also claimed that his consulting firm, Roubini Global Economics, was targeted in a 2015 denial-of-service attack because he criticised bitcoin.
Jamie Dimon

JP Morgan boss Jamie Dimon said in mid-September that Bitcoin was a fraud that would ultimately blow up. He said the digital currency was only fit for use by drug dealers, murderers and people living in places such as North Korea.

The boss of America’s biggest bank said he would fire “in a second” anyone at the investment bank found to be trading in bitcoin. He later softened his stance, and revealed on 9 January that his daughter had bought two bitcoins.
Robert Shiller

The Nobel prizewinning economist predicted on 26 January that bitcoin would not be a “permanent feature” of the financial world. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Shiller hailed bitcoin as a “really clever idea”.

Politics / Trump Aide To Leave White House After Abuse Allegations by salau01(m): 7:18am On Feb 08, 2018
One of President Donald Trump's top White House aides resigned Wednesday following allegations of domestic abuse leveled against him by his two ex-wives.

Staff secretary Rob Porter said in a written statement that allegations that became public this week are "outrageous" and "simply false." Porter said photos published of his former spouses — in which one appears to have a black eye — were "given to the media nearly 15 years ago and the reality behind them is nowhere close to what is being described."

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is on the cusp of a major political comeback in a month's time -- and as he looks to seal the deal with a migration-weary Italian public, he is taking a page out of President Trump’s rhetorical playbook.

Italians will go to the polls on March 4, with many analysts believing that the most likely outcome is either a parliament where no party has the majority, or a victory for Berlusconi’s right-wing coalition -- consisting of his own Forza Italia party along with smaller, anti-migration right-wing parties.

But, after the shooting of six African immigrants by an Italian neo-fascist over the weekend, it was reasonable to assume that the 81-year-old would back away from the fiery anti-migrant language of his allies.

He didn’t. Instead he doubled down, blasting the left-wing government for letting the immigration situation in Italy -- which has a population of 60 million -- get out of control, particularly from Libya.
