Messi, already the leading scorer of all time for both Barcelona and La Liga, bagged his 500th goal in 633 appearances. The forward now has 450 goals in 526 games with Barcelona and 50 in 107 games for Argentina.

Although he did not manage to score in the past four games, Messi has been on fire so far in 2016, with 26 goals in 28 games.

His haul of 309 league goals has him comfortably ahead of Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo (256), while he closed on Gabriel Batistuta's record of 56 goals for Argentina by netting his 50th against Bolivia last week.

Chadian President Idriss Deby faced off against more than a dozen challengers Sunday as he seeks another term after more than 25 years in power in this central African nation which is battling Islamic extremists.

The election comes amid mounting international concern about Chad's human rights record. Four activists are currently awaiting verdicts on charges of trying to disturb the peace and resisting arrest. Internet access was down in the capital of N'Djamena on election day, residents reported.

Deby, who has been in power since 1990, could face a second round of voting because of the large number of candidates. It could be one of the toughest challenges he has faced, according to Thibaud Lesueur, central African senior analyst for the International Crisis Group.

"It's quite unprecedented to have so many people in the street," he said, noting that many have been afraid to demonstrate against the incumbent.

Chad, a former French colony, is now home to the French military's operations in Africa. Chadian soldiers are also on the front lines of the battle against Boko Haram, the Islamic militant group based in northeastern Nigeria.

Many Chadians see the cooperation with the international militaries, including the French, U.S., Cameroon, Niger and Nigeria, as international acceptance of Deby's leadership, Lesueur said.

Two suicide bombers who carried out the attacks in Brussels airport also identified as brothers Khalid and Brahim El Bakraou. Brussels bomb suspect Najim Laachraoui is still on the run after the blasts which killed at least 34 people and left around 200 injured. La Libre Belgique newspaper said another person had been arrested. DH, which first reported the story, also said the man detained in the Anderlecht district had been misidentified.

Police and prosecutors have been declining all comment but will hold a news conference at noon GMT. Laachraoui is believed to have accompanied brothers Brahim and Khalid El Bakraoui to the city's airport yesterday, where they blew themselves up, killing 14 people.

Paul Okoye of Psquare has pleaded with his twin brother, Peter, to bury the hatchet and collaborate with him again, like it used to be- in the old days.

The demure half of Psquare, who released a deeply emotional solo single- Call Heaven– during the week, has now penned an equally moving note on his Instagram page.

Paul lashed out the fans on social media who have been clamouring for a Psquare reunion. He declared in the post- that he’s more keen on ‘family love and care’.

“All you all want is Psquare,…all I want is family, love and care!!! Social media is the new root of all evil!! There’s family before Psquare and there will always be family after PSquare ….Jude was only a scapegoat and a victim. The person who has been keeping us together for all these years,..the truth is peter and Paul have issues.”

He admitted that even after Jude, their elder brother, stopped managing Psquare, the problem still persisted- noting that this is indicative of the fact that himself and Peter have ‘issues’.

“For the first time I decided to do something outside Psquare and that is the case study here. I have always supported my brother 100% from His personal endorsements to dance with Peter which some re still on my I.g… Now I have just 3 questions… Why is it that these things are happening immediately I realized (released) muno’s singles under rudeboy Recordz. Davido Singer's ''Baddest'' album may not be released in 2016. Davido has revealed that his highly anticipated album ‘’Baddest’’ may no longer be released in 2016. The album was scheduled to drop in 2016 with the singer releasing singles such as 'Fans Mi' featuring rapper Meek Mill, and 'The money'. However the Sony Music deal came along and changed the scheme of things with Davido expected to drop two albums and the albums now billed to have a more international appeal as seen in Davido's collaboration with Meek Mill, his unreleased collaborative effort with Trey Songz and his likely collaboration with others like Future, Idris Elba and Young Thug.

The Portuguese, who has had an outstanding scoring record since moving to Los Blancos, needed only 228 games to reach the La Liga 250-goals mark, which has only been achieved by two other footballers: his longstanding rival Messi, and Spanish legend Telmo Zarra.

The latter needed 269 games in Spain's top flight to score his 250 league goals, which is an incredible achievement considering he set the record in the 1950s.

Messi, meanwhile, needed 289 appearances to score 250 La Liga goals, 61 more than Ronaldo.

As a consequence, it comes as no surprise that Ronaldo has the best goals-per-game average, with 1.1 strikes per match.

Zarra, who scored a goal every 0.93 games, follows in second place, while Messi netted 0.87 strikes per match to reach the 250-goal milestone.

A former missionary from Oklahoma convicted of sexually abusing children at an orphanage in Kenya was sentenced to 40 years in a federal prison.

Matthew Lane Durham, 21, had faced up to 30 years on each of four counts of engaging in illicit sexual conduct in foreign places was sentenced on Monday.

He was also ordered to pay restitution of $15,863.

Durham had served as a volunteer at the Upendo Children's Home in Nairobi since 2012.

Prosecutors alleged he targeted orphans at the orphanage - which specialises in caring for neglected children - between April and June 2014.

"These were heinous crimes committed on the most vulnerable victims. He was their worst nightmare come true," US District Judge David Russell said while handing out the sentence.

Durham read a statement before sentencing in which he asked the court for mercy but did not express remorse for the offenses he was convicted of.

"All I wanted was to follow God's plan for me," Durham told the judge before adding that he he will try to commit himself to serving others while he serves his prison sentence.

Durham claimed he is innocent of the charges but said he was sorry that the accusations against him had damaged the orphanage and those it cares for.

"The Upendo kids do not deserve this," Durham said.

Prosecutors said Durham's actions have had a chilling effect on the lives of dozens of foreign volunteers in Kenya and elsewhere "who must now live under the cloud of suspicion, distrust and apprehension when they volunteer their time, talent and resources for the betterment of children in East Africa and beyond".

"There is a real perception among Upendo's local Kenyan community that more pedophiles lurk among the volunteers, especially the young male volunteers," prosecutors said.

A jury convicted Durham in June on seven counts of engaging in illicit sexual conduct in foreign places, but Russell acquitted Durham on three of the charges in January.

The orphanage's founder, Eunice Menja, read a statement in court Monday in which she said the sexual abuse was "not only a betrayal of the Upendo mission but of the trust Upendo placed in him".

"Matthew Durham defiled the children," Menja said as she fought back tears.

"Matthew has no remorse. After he got caught, he still denied. We're hoping that when he comes out he will be a changed man."

While many are showing unconditional love to Kendrick Lamar, French Montana can’t help but question the rapper’s successes, giving credit to the music industry's choice to favor him.

In an interview airing yesterday (February 23) on The Breakfast Club, Montana was questioned about a line that appeared in his recent mixtape, Wave Gods, in which he spits, “Why isn’t street rap selling like Kendrick?”

Initially dodging the question of why “street rap” doesn’t sell the way that Lamar’s record has, Montana ended up biting the second time the subject came up.

Reflecting on the music industry in relation to Lamar’s success, Montana went on to say that the industry has been favoring Lamar “because they position him, like they did at the Grammys, as the new music.”

“It’s not that it’s not the right thing to do, but you see like the whole thing was like Kendrick night,” the rapper continued. “That album don’t sound like nothing that’s out – the whole hip hop game don’t sound like that.”

Host Charlamange agreed with Montana, saying that while To love-vendor a Butterfly isn’t the type of album that he bumps in his car, neither can deny that it’s a good album.

“I feel like they just position you as the new face of hip hop,” Montana continued, referring to Lamar. “They put him on that platform so they can shift music towards that direction.”

While the conversation touches on some interesting points about the music industry and Lamar’s music in general, having a unique sound and 11 Grammy nominations certainly doesn’t hurt. Maybe Montana should take some notes — Lamar’s album sales have increased 411% since the Grammys aired.

Cesar Flores, 48, was refereeing a neighbourhood match in Cordoba on Sunday when he sent a player off for a foul.

The player, who police have not yet identified but goes by the nickname of 'Baldy', shot Flores multiple times, according to Argentine newspaper La Voz.

"The most serious bullet wound was in the head. He was also shot in the neck and chest," a police spokesperson told La Voz.

"The person who fired the shots was a player who had been sent off moments before.

"He went to his bag and returned with a gun and opened fire."

The referee died in hospital on Sunday night.

Another footballer, Walter Zarate, 25, was standing beside Flores and also received a bullet wound to the chest. He was taken to a local hospital.

The gunman ran from the scene and is still being hunted by police.

Apple Inc. is producing an original TV series with rapper and producer Dr. Dre, according to a person with knowledge of the matter, as the maker of iPhones and iPads experiments with creating entertainment to sell more of its devices.

Dre, co-founder of Apple’s Beats Electronics, will star in and produce the series, called “Vital Signs,” said the person, who asked not to be identified because the project is confidential. It isn’t clear how Apple will distribute the show, the person said. Options include the Apple Music streaming service, iTunes and the Apple TV set-top box.

Apple has stepped up its investment in entertainment, bankrolling radio programs for Apple Music, a tour documentary starring pop star Taylor Swift last year and exploring the creation of a live TV service. The company also held talks with entertainment executives about obtaining exclusive shows for Apple TV, people with knowledge of the matter said last year. “Vital Signs” is an experimental one-off and not part of those efforts, the individual said.

Christine Monaghan, a spokeswoman for Apple, declined to comment. Dre’s publicist didn’t respond to requests for comment.

The series will span six episodes and be semi-autobiographical, according to the Hollywood Reporter, which reported on Apple’s plans earlier Friday. Dre, 50, who’s real name is Andre Young, sold Beats to Apple for $3 billion in 2014 with partner Jimmy Iovine. He was an executive producer of “Straight Outta Compton,” a biopic about the rap group N.W.A.

Nigeria's Nwankwo Kanu has been named among the Top 48 world football legends by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

IFFHS released the first phase of the list which includes Brazilian greats Pele and Ronaldo da Lima.

Notable Africans on the list include former World player of the year George Opong Weah, Roger Milla, Rabah Medjer, Muhammed Aboutrika, Mohmud El-Khatub and former Bafana Bafana captain Lucas Radebe.

FFHS were formed in 1984 under FIFA’s approval and they focus on archiving football records, statistics and records of associations across the globe.

Kanu was the last Nigerian to win the CAF African Footballer of the Year award in 1999. He played for Ajax, Inter Milan and Arsenal.

"Manchester City can confirm that in recent weeks it has commenced and finalised contractual negotiations with Pep Guardiola to become MCFC head coach for the 2016/17 EPL season onwards," the club said in a statement.

"The contract is for three years. These negotiations were a re-commencement of discussions that were curtailed in 2012.

"Out of respect for Manuel Pellegrini and the players, the club wishes to make its decision public to remove the unnecessary burden of speculation.

"Manuel, who is fully supportive of the decision to make this communication, is entirely focused on achieving his targets for the season ahead and retains the respect and commitment of all involved with the leadership of the club."

Guardiola announced in December that he would leave current club Bayern Munich in May after three years at the helm, with an intention to coach in England next season.

The 45-year-old Guardiola notched up the treble of Champions League, German Cup and Bundesliga titles in 2013, but in the last two seasons, Bayern have exited the Champions League at the semi-final stage.

The ex-Spain international previously coached Barcelona from 2008-12, leading the Catalan giants to domestic and Champions League glory in a remarkable run of success.

The much-travelled Pellegrini, 62, signed for City in 2013, becoming the first Chilean to coach in the Premier League.

The teenager who started his empire from a Harvard dorm room and successfully launched the most popular social network in the world outdid oil tycoons Charles and David Koch, aged 80 and 75 respectively, in terms of wealth this week, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Facebook Inc shares surged 15.5 per cent on Thursday, their biggest percentage increase since July 2013, after the social networking service posted quarterly results that blew away expectations on every key measure.

Facebook shares closed at $109.11 putting its market capitalization at about $308.6 billion. That would make it the fourth most valuable technology company, overtaking Amazon.com Inc, which was valued at about $296 billion ahead of its results on Thursday. Facebook said it had 1.59 billion monthly active users as of December 31, about one in every four people in the world.

Bill Gates, Amancio Ortega and Warren Buffet continue to hold their places as the three richest men in the world, with Gates at number one.

The financial guru behind New York Times bestseller Rich Dad, Poor Dad has filed for bankruptcy on one of his companies after losing a $24 million judgement.

This April, Robert Kiyosaki's Rich Global LLC was ordered to pay $23,687,957.21 to the Learning Annex and its founder and chairman, Bill Zanker.

Kiyosaki had used the Learning Annex platform to organize several high profile speaking engagements, including a 2002 appearance at Madison Square Garden

Adele’s smash hit ‘Hello’ has broken yet another record, reaching 1 billion views on YouTube in just 88 days.

The previous record for the fastest time for a video to reach one billion views on YouTube was held by Psy’s “Gangnam Style,” which hit the mark 159 days after being uploaded.

The new record was announced by Guinness World Records Wednesday.

According to the record-keeping site, the video -- directed by Canadian Xavier Dolan and which was shot in Quebec -- registered 27.7 million views within a day of being uploaded on Oct. 22, 2015.

Other videos to have reached the one-billion view mark include Maroon 5's "Sugar" and "Love the Way You Lie" by Eminem featuring Rihanna. However no other video has reached the milestone as quickly as “Hello.”

Hong Kong: A Hong Kong bookseller and publisher, whose mysterious disappearance caused international uproar has suddenly reappeared on Chinese television, apparently confessing to his involvement in a 2003 fatal hit and run accident.
Gui Minhai, a Chinese national who also holds a Swedish passport, appeared on state TV Sunday, saying that he accepted responsibility for the crime and that he wished to face its consequences.
His supporters say they suspect he has been abducted from Thailand by Chinese agents because his publications have criticized the Chinese government. He is said to have been working on a book detailing Chinese President Xi Jinping's affairs for the publishing house, Causeway Bay Books, according to Hong Kong pro-democracy lawmaker Albert Ho.
But, during the appearance, he says he went to China voluntarily to see his aging mother and assuage his guilt regarding a hit and run incident in 2003.
China's state news agency Xinhua reports that Gui, 51, was convicted of drunk driving in August 2004.
He was reportedly sentenced to two years in prison, which was deferred for two years, after he struck and killed a female college student.
Xinhua alleges that, fearing prison, he went on the run in 2004. Chinese police have purportedly been looking for him since, although according to Leung Chun-ying, Hong Kong's chief executive, his case was never referred to Hong Kong police.
"The Gui Minhai case has not been reported to the Hong Kong Police or the Hong Kong Government," he told journalists. "We attach a great deal of importance to such and any other information that could help the Hong Kong Police and the Hong Kong Government to understand the case better."

Gui Minhai's sudden desire to return to China was said to have been driven by the news that his father had passed away and a wish to spend time with his elderly mother.
"Going back to my country and turning myself in was voluntary. This was not related to others," he told Chinese state television CCTV in an interview.
"I must take legal responsibility for my own actions, and I am willing to accept any punishment," he said on camera.
"Although I now hold Swedish citizenship, deep down I think of myself as Chinese. I hope the Swedish authorities will respect my personal choices, my rights and privacy, and allow myself to deal with my own issues."
Swedish officials declined to comment on the latest developments.
"We are aware of the information published in news media," a representative from the Swedish Embassy in Beijing told CNN.
"We continue to seek clarifications from the Chinese authorities."
A recent spate of arrests of human rights lawyers and activists in China has created cause for diplomatic concern and incurred widespread condemnation from human rights groups.
Last week a Swedish human rights activist was detained in China. Swedish officials told CNN they had visited the detainee and "he was feeling well, considering the circumstances."

As well as Gui Minhai, four other Hong Kong booksellers have also disappeared, triggering street protests and stoking concerns of Beijing's governmental encroachment despite the city's autonomy, guaranteed under a joint Sino-British agreement, signed in 1984.
The latest person connected to the publishing house to vanish, Lee Bo, disappeared last month.
"Gui's reappearance in Chinese custody reinforces concerns about the fate of his other associates," said Nicholas Bequelin, East Asia Director at Amnesty International.
"We can't exclude that Gui Minhai's videotaped 'confession' wasn't made under duress. We want to ensure he has access to a lawyer, as mandated under Chinese law."
He also raised that the CCTV segment did not seem to address the sequence of events that led Gui from Thailand to custody in China.

Taiwan’s ruling party has conceded defeat in the island's presidential elections, meaning opposition leader Tsai Ing-wen will become the island’s first woman president. By 7 pm local time (11am GMT), Ms Tsai, head of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), had recorded more than 4,655,000 votes, far ahead of Eric Chu of the ruling Nationalists or Kuomintang (KMT) with some 2,614,000 votes.

The beef between Nigerian superstars Wizkid and Dammy Krane turned bloody and physical early this morning, January 15 at Club Quilox in Lagos.

Here’s how it all started.

Last night, Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins held an exclusive ‘All Black Party’ at Club Quilox on Victoria Island, Lagos and it was star-studded. Pop stars like Tekno, Timaya, 2face Idibia, Sexy Steel, Skuki, Special Ed and many more were all in attendance. Apparently Dammy Krane was in the club as well.

Eye witnesses tell NET Dammy Krane got to the club a lot earlier before Wizkid came in around 4am.

Another source told us, ‘When Wizkid enterted the club, it seemed he saw Dammy Krane but didn’t go to meet him, then about 15 minutes later, it seemed Dammy was showing him some attitude, then Wizkid went to meet him. The next thing we saw everywhere had scattered. Wizkid broke a bottle on his head before bouncers separated them’.
Multiple eye witnesses say Wizkid clearly attacked first before bouncers tried to separate them. Then the club owner Shina Peller waded into the fight as well.

It is not clear if Dammy Krane was injured.

‘He took them to his office to settle it’, a guest told us.

We learn that both parties then came downstairs, back to the club and acted as if nothing happened.

Long before Drake became the international superstar he is today, the Toronto rapper served as a songwriter for Dr. Dre and Aftermath Records. This revelation came in part from a new book by author John Seabrook called The Song Machine: Inside the Hit Factory.

Genius highlighted some passages from the book that suggested that Drake worked at Death Row Records while Dr. Dre was there. This timeline is obviously off base as Dr. Dre left Death Row in 1996 when Drake would have been just 10 years old.

But the real story was uncovered by DJBooth, who reached out to John Seabrook. The author clarified that Drake did not tell him about specific years, but the Nothing Was the Same creator said he was working with Dr. Dre when he was “like 19.” This means that Drake would have been working for Dr. Dre around 2005. So, Drake was actually working for Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Records.

According to DJBooth, Drake told Seabrook that he and his longtime collaborator Noah “40” Sherib were paid $10,000 for their work and lived in Los Angeles at the Oakwood Apartments during that time. Obviously, nothing came of their work as fans know that Dr. Dre would not release a new project until 2015’s Compton. But Drake did tell Seabrook about his experience, which was included in the book.

“It was some of the most strenuous militant shit I’ve ever done,” Drake said. “But no useable songs came out of it. When I think of how he worked us, it’s no wonder he didn’t get anything out of it. It was just writers in a room churning out product all day long.”

Next up for Drake, he’ll see if he wins the Best Rap Album award at the Grammys in February for If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late.

Turan finally made his La Liga debut for Barca, having been forced to wait for their transfer ban to expire before he could be registered.
It took just eight minutes for the two players to link up as Turan provided the assist for Messi's opener.
And the former Atletico Madrid player was full of praise for Messi, who is expected to win the Ballon d'Or for a fifth time on Monday.
"I have never seen anyone like Leo Messi," Turan told Turkish newspaper Sabah. "He is a miracle from God. I like it when he does his things on the field.
"It's not jealousy -- I feel good, for instance, when he nutmegs someone."

Former president, Goodluck Jonathan has been named the International Person of the Year 2015 by the African Sun Times.
According to the African Sun Times, Jonathan was chosen due to his role in ensuring a peaceful transition of government in Nigeria.
"The award was given to Dr. Goodluck Jonathan who shocked the whole world by swiftly calling current Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and conceding his defeat in the March 29 Nigerian presidential election, thereby stopping the predictions of violent bloodshed in Nigeria, and keeping his words that he would not allow the blood of a Nigerian to be shed to further his political ambitions,” the publication said.
“President Jonathan must be applauded for creating a solid foundation for the growth of democracy in Africa. The world has started to recognize President Jonathan’s courageous act,” it added.
