Christianity Etc › Re: Christianity Is Not Fully Based On Bible Alone by SalC: 11:06am On Nov 21, 2013
Yes op you are on point.

Many people think it takes just carrying the bible for one to be a christian.

No, being a christian entails living a christ-like life.

Since the early christians were christians without the bible, then it doesn't take the bible to be a christian.

POPE II: that's the least seun hould have done , is it not obvious that the mods can't be knowledgeable about Catholic doctrine. Besides he doesn't ignore the divisions in Christianity , the non catholic mods will be reluctant to ban their protestantbrothers , they don't share our sensibilityv. How can someone call Mary n Ant and not get a ban ? A harlot and go free ? It is very difficult to b unbiased so I don't blame but need for a Catholic mod is too obvious for us to cross our arms and see our faith being rubbished and dragged in the mud .
Having or not having a Catholic mod shouldn't be our concern for now, what is needed is an unbiased mod who does things right.
If someone who calls him or herself a christian decideds to insult Mary in other to infuriate the Catholics, all i do is laugh at them because that won't make God degrade our blessed mother rather they are actually offending God who placed her in that position.
So please brethren lets face our business here and ignore the distractions.

Boomark: I tried to encourage people to seek the will of God and do it while you came to tell them to continue with the teachings of men and miracle just to discourage them as if there is no wisdom in what Jesus said in Mt 7:20-....

This shows that the difference between Christians and others is very very clear.

“One day, through the Rosary
and the Scapular, Our Lady will
save the world.”...............Saint
Dominic

Your saviour of the world is your lady Not Christ. And you called the person that said this a saint. Well for Christians, Christ is the savior of the world. It is not the will of God that any lady will save the world whether before or after Christ must have saved it.

Those practising Buddhism will equally give a list of their masters who urged their follower to continue praying with beads just the way you did. Muslims will have their list and miracle testimonies too.

You manage to quote 1Peter 5:4 to confuse people by adding and subtracting words. People own bible these days and they are wise.

You find my posts powerful and difficult to attack because i submitted myself to the one who has all authority. Before nko! Fear no go catch you to go against it. grin . You are wise in that regard cos it would mean fighting against the word of God.

And as for Sal C, angry am just SMH!!! For your follow follow attitude.

Christianity Etc › Re: Jesus' Final Response To The Exaltation Of His Mother by SalC: 8:06pm On Nov 20, 2013
Boomark: I see! I was even limiting myself to Paul. Even Peter, James, john and in Revelation, non of them mentioned the tradition of worshipping Mary and giving the glory that belongs to God to her.

Why? Because they were preaching Christ crucified. That is the foundation of Christianity and their traditions. It is not chaplet 'Maryfied' as your church preach.

So you don't even know what Phillip taught the ethiopian orally and you think it is about praising Mary? He taught the ethiopian who was reading Isaiah about Christ. Go and read your bible. Wherever they go they preach Christ to the glory of and in union with the Father.

Go and tell the Israelites that the law of Moses(which is written), God gave to them was oral traditions, let me see if they will not stone to death. Don't you feel your ignorance? SMH!!!
If actually you worship Mary or give her the glory that belong to God, then that is your problem not mine.

If you are truthful to yourself, you won't deliberately change the ethiopia I wrote to ethiopian just to make the case that suit you.

I still stand on my word that most of the old testament practices are passed down through oral tradition before they became written.

So you can shake your head again or prove me wrong.

Syncan: Do understand that I am not giving you an answer with respect to Infallibility, since that will entail some other things coming into consideration. The Command of "feed my Sheep" carries a moral burden. A burden, that the good shepherd does not hesitate long in guiding the sheep on the right path. He has a mandate to show the way, remember what Christ said "I lost none of those you gave me.." John 18:9. That is Christ "submitting his report card", same will be demanded of each shepherd, so the more you delay, the more you lose. However, Will Power to follow Divine illumination is not always instantaneous due to human frailties, you can see that from Peter on the issue of circumcision in the Acts. Also careful and prayerful study is made and reaction time depends also on the complexities involved. If it is very clear what he is to do; and he does not do it, then comes the condemnation which could only come from a later authentic magisterium,(Not like Hypollitus)...another "us".... Outside this, God will be the Judge.
If actually I understood all the grammar up there, then am ok even with the "us"

Syncan: He wasn't exactly indifferent, he spoke. But as one who is a custodian of the deposit of faith, he ought to have been more direct and clear on his stand and guide the flock on the way to go. His hesitation, followed by his agreement with those who sympathize with the heretics, suggests that he was at least inclined towards not condemning them...and this is against the belief handed down to him.
Pardon my curiousity but is it possible for a pope to keep mute over raging issues during his papacy and not held accountable for them?

Christianity Etc › Re: A Thread For Catholics by SalC: 2:37pm On Nov 20, 2013
Ubenedictus: good job, weldn, 1st it is hard to prove pope honorius taught heresy. 2nd a pope posses infallibility only when he teach in his office as universal teacher, and when he publicly pronunces a binding doctrine for the entire church. Honorius wasn't excerising infallibility so his case can't be used to disprove papal infallibility.
So in other words he was condemned for not speaking out against heresies?
Christianity Etc › Re: A Thread For Catholics by SalC: 2:31pm On Nov 20, 2013
Syncan: Pope honorius did not "teach" heresy. He merely failed to condemn one, hence did not stop, even encouraged, its spreading by his silence. Moreso, he never claimed his stand on the matter was binding on all catholics, which is a pre-requsite for infallibility as I earlier stated.
He neither made his opinion binding on all, nor condemned the other opinion. Infallibility claim cannot be invoked here.

This is to the best of my knowledge.
That means he was merely indifferent to the heresies of his time not that he taught them.

Your reason for opening this thread should be to seek solution not just to criticise.

You see? If some popes are burning in hell while others are not yet all of them practice the same catholic doctrine while on earth, then the reason why those few are in hell must be something other than the catholic doctrine.

Boomark: did you ask yourself who he was going to speak to? Is it the whole world? NO

Do you expect Paul to rewrite all that he taught in his letter to the Corinthians, Romans, galatians, Ephesians, Hebrew, timothy, etc, to this people. The revelations he got are in these letters and he knows them so he can teach them orally.

Don't be deceived by those who teach you lawlessness and tell you it is oral tradition. Na who we go ask? huh I hope i have guided you. You still have the right to continue believing your oral traditions. Na who we go ask?
The word Paul used in 2thes 2V15 is "we" not "I" signifying he wasn't just referring to his writings and oral teachings but that of the apostles and teachers of their time.

Today, we do not have the teachings of all the apostles in writing but the obvious thing here is they actually taught people( possibly oral traditions).

For instance, Philip went to ethiopia and taught the people, we don't have his letters to them ( if he actually wrote any) but we know he taught then( possibly orally). If this people carry on with his teachings, which are not written, that's oral tradition.

Let me also state that most of the teachings we have in the bible today starting from the old testament, were initially practice as oral tradition.
