MrSamsung: Is all good that you don't talk in the affirmative in matters like this. Yes with confidence but no with over confidence and boastful way because there is difference between affirmativ, confidence and boastfullness.
Now with the Nigerian politics you just talked about, I want to tell you that what you said is an aberration. Why? Because those men in your paragraphs are not the best and only men we have in a population of over 100million.
And besides the process of choosing leaders in a democracy are not as flawed as you mention. You got to choose them through party screening, primaries before the general election in which many men may and would contest. And it is the most important stage in selecting a leader in a democratic system which I think Nigerians don't know.
Also we are not practicing monarchy or hand-picked system. Even if that should happen you can revolt and fight with tooth and nails in the primaries and general voting.
But hey this is Nigeria, with dollars in a Bullion van you might corrupt the system. I am here being a realist while you’re just an idealist. We are in Nigeria and we have our own kind of democracy which is obviously somehow different in our approach from other developed countries. You spoke about party primaries and screening, does that even exists in Nigeria in the real sense? Those party just select someone as their candidate and most of the primaries they always have is just kangaroo type. This is applicable to both PDP and APC. America primaries is totally different from that of Nigeria and I always find it amusing that people relate two things operating under different ideology. |

InvestinOwerri: Most of you bigots can be so ridiculous while living in your fool's paradise. Let's even assume that it eventually becomes a contest between Atiku and Tinubu, you still believe that the bullion van theif can defeat Atiku? How possible is that?
Atiku lost narrowly to Buhari despite his massive support in the North and you think Tinubu can win him even in a free and fair contest?
Which Northerner will vote for Tinubu against Atiku?
Is it Igbos or SS that will vote for Tinubu or you think Yoruba votes is enough to make him win even when a good number of educated Yorubas won't even support Tinubu.
CONTINUE DECIEVING YOURSELF!!! Tinubu will defeat Atiku in a national election. Right now there is the usual Fulani sentiment and telling voters to vote another Fulani in the South will lead to voter apathy. Do you see what happened with Abia bye elections and the turnouts? Tinubu will easily win NC because there are lot of Christians there who think Tinubu is a moderate and not another Fulani man who will want to take their land. Tinubu will easily win the SW. remember we have the second voting power after NW. we just need to turn out massive number of voters out on Election Day. Third, even the SS and SE will be confused and there will definitely be voter apathy to vote another Fulani to power especially with the current trend of situation. They will vote Atiku but I fear the turnout will not make much impact. Lastly in the Core North, Tinubu just need to pick a strong vice like Zulum/ El Rufus or any other strong Christian lived in the North. That will break the bone of Atiku votes because people love Zulum/Elrufai and Atiku is not even a figure that command respect among the Northerners. If all this permutation fails, then Tinubu will just concede to an Osinbajo/ElRufai ticket and you will see Atiku crying at the face of defeat. |

MrSamsung: I guess you don't see how you suck with this flawed analogy of yours. Okay let me help you out.
Following your analogy, do we plan or predict or talk in the affirmative about the future when we are not a seer or God?
Or do we have ambitions and waste time in schools because we have this over confidence or certainty about how the future would be or what it holds?
So my friend when it comes to tinubu or whoever, you don't talk in the affirmative, boastful and pepper dem way that he is the next president.
By the way this country is the way it is not because it lacks the wherewithal to the making of a great nation but because of human beings like you being in the majority. Why? Because you guys are blinded by whatever and are REPEATING the same thing in the Nigerian political sphere yet expecting a different result. gosh You don’t talk in the affirmative but you talk with confidence. Just like some people always talk in the affirmative that Tinubu cannot be president. I also have the right to say Tinubu will be president. Now back to Nigeria kind of politics, you should know democracy is not the best alternative to choose the best among men. You can only choose the best among two options and unfortunately for Nigeria most of the heavyweight politicians are not actually the best we can offer but what can we do? If they presents Osinbajo, I will vote him over Asiwaju. If they present Fashola, I will vote him over Asiwaju In fact I will vote Zulum over Asiwaju However if the contest is between Asiwaju and Atiku, I will vote Asiwaju a billion times over. Elections are usually shaped by contesting candidates that’s why it’s easy to sway people. Someone might say I won’t vote Tinubu but if on Election Day he sees El-Rufai on the ballot, he might say I’ll rather vote for Tinubu than El-Rufai. Hope you get my analogy? |

InvestinOwerri: Egbon, you sure say you get sense at all? What has IPOB got to do with a criminal desperately trying to force himself on Nigerians by hook or crook?
Lol, you think paying some NFA's peanuts to be opening nairaland accounts and liking topics about the bullion van desperado will change anything? Do you think Nigerians are fool's that would be decieved by useless nairaland likes?
That you're even supporting such a character to rule Nigeria shows how debased you are. Election is a contest between two people and that’s what many fail to understand in politics. If in 2023, PDP presents an Atiku then the dynamics will change and people will be split on who to vote for between Asiwaju and Atiku and that’s when you’ll see majority people standing behind Asiwaju. However, if PDP presents a more credible candidate in 2023, like a young experienced man, then you can say Asiwaju might lose because people will be more willing to vote younger people. IPOd have been crying all around, using Mr. Canceller on Nairaland to open almost 100 moniker per day to like and share and kid themselves that they are winning. People are starting to understand better that the hate for Tinubu is not natural which explained why most of his posts are now getting more likes. Youths will always have their say, but the people (older) that actually vote will always have their way. Except if he chose to backdown for Osinbajo, Tinubu will be the president in 2023. Let’s just wait and see |

The IPOD canceller opening over almost 100 monikers was being paid by Atiku and yet they couldn’t match Tinubu like on Nairaland by real people.
That shows you the dynamics are changing. People are standing up for Tinubu because they know IPod just hated the man for no reason and it’s just starting.
Lest I forget, Tinubu is paying us 200k monthly as against 19k that Atiku is paying you guys. |

Crime › Nigerian Arrested In India With 169 Grammes Of Cocaine, Ecstasy Pills by Salewa97(op): 11:09pm On Mar 24, 2021 |
A Nigerian, James Morrison, has been arrested by the Excise Enforcement officials in Hyderabad, India on the charge of peddling drugs.
The officials held the 28-year-old Nigerian on Tuesday following a tip-off. They seized 153 grammes of cocaine and 16 grammes of MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine), a party drug commonly known as ‘Molly’ or ‘Ecstasy’ from the suspect during a raid on a house at MS Makhtha area of Khairatabad.
Morrison, who claimed to be staying in India on a student visa, was said to be a 'repeat offender' and had secured bail after being arrested on similar charges in 2020.
According to investigations, one Daddy Boy, alias John and Mike from Bengaluru appointed Morrison as his agent to sell drugs in the city.
It was alleged that Daddy Boy would send the contraband to James through agents. The Nigerian would then contact customers through calls or WhatsApp and meet them at Imax, Necklace Road, Somajiguda, Begumpet, and other surrounding areas.
He sells a gramme of cocaine at Rs 6,000 (about N32, 000) to Rs 8,000 (about N42, 000) per gramme and a gramme of MDA for Rs 5,000 (about N26, 000) per gramme.
The Assistant Prohibition & Excise Superintendent, N. Anki Reddy, who led the team, said that Morrison was earlier arrested in August last year on charges of drug trafficking and six grammes of cocaine seized from him then.
He said, "This James Morrison was arrested in the month of August 2020 in a drugs case wherein 6 grammes of cocaine was seized from him and 2 more accused Nelson Samuel Smith and Abdul Kareem Abdullah.
"He is telling that he came to India on a student visa around four years ago. As of now, there was no evidence of him having any visa. He further said his passport was deposited in a court case in Mumbai and only a photocopy of the passport was seized from him."
Items recovered from the suspect include: one Galaxy J7 prime mobile phone, one small weighing machine, a red tape and empty polythene covers weighing (86) gm and one long notebook showing transactions related to drugs.

Crime › A Nigerian Cocaine Trafficker Jailed For Nine Years, Fined €10,000 In Malta by Salewa97(op): 4:39am On Mar 18, 2021 |
A court has jailed a drug trafficker for nine years and fined him €10,000 for importing 360g of cocaine and other illicit substances, in a case dating back 10 years.
Uchena Anya, 38, from Nigeria, was found guilty of possession of the drug in circumstances denoting it wasn’t for his personal use, conspiracy to traffic drugs and money laundering by Magistrate Neville Camilleri.
The case revolves around a controlled delivery carried out by the police on 27 November 2010. The consignment of drugs was halted after a Romanian man, Attila Somlyai, was caught carrying 60 capsules containing around 600g of cocaine in his stomach at the airport the day before.
Somlyai had arrived in Malta from Dusseldorf and was arrested. He had cooperated with the police and carried out the controlled delivery outside a Sliema hotel.
Police investigations revealed that the drugs were meant to be passed on to another Nigerian man, Stephen Ikechukwu, who was also charged in separate proceedings. Anya was found to have also been involved in the importation plan.
Somlyai had explained how he had been travelling from Amsterdam to Dusseldorf and then caught a flight to Malta, where he was supposed to go to the Roma hotel and meet a Nigerian man. This plan was successful in October 2010, and the courier had consigned 28 capsules in his first visit to Malta.
Somlyai's second visit was unsuccessful, however, and he was intercepted by the police. X-rays had revealed a large number of capsules in his stomach.
Anya was arrested after police spotted him acting suspiciously in court when Somlyai was arraigned together with Stephen Egbo. https://www.maltatoday.com.mt/news/court_and_police/108411/cocaine_trafficker_jailed_for_nine_years_fined_10000#.YFLK12T3a_Y

Teju Ajani, former country manager, Android for Google, has been appointed as the managing director for Apple in Nigeria.
Ajani, who will oversee sales and business development at Apple, announced the appointment in a LinkedIn post on Tuesday.
Prior to her new role, Ajani was the principal product manager at Oracle and business development manager at Google for Nigeria.
She also served as the YouTube head of content partnerships for Sub Saharan Africa between January 2014 and April 2018.
The software engineer said her years of experience will guide her in contributing to the organisation and impacting positively in Africa.
“The great thing about experience is that you get to take it with you wherever you go. Along the way, you get to know your (corporate) self and if lucky, figure out who you want to be “when you grow up”. Successes, failures, lessons learned, all go with you from place to place where you get to reflect, add and refine them,” she wrote.
“I’m excited to be starting a new role with an amazing company and brand, Apple, in Nigeria and bringing all that to bear. Having intentionally sought a role in Africa and worked specifically on the continent for the past decade, the pace of growth and possibilities are still exciting and make it a dynamic place to figure out how to bring another global brand to bear.
“Africa does have its challenges right alongside all the opportunities. It is a place that can reward long term vision versus short term focus. Technology is very much an enabler, just like it most of the rest of the world. However, the impact on Africa is, and can continue to be exponential.
“Being part of that enabling force is extremely rewarding and something I am excited to continue in a new capacity and bring all that experience to bear upon. Here’s to work adventures.” Source: https://www.thecable.ng/teju-ajani-ex-google-country-manager-joins-apple-as-nigeria-head

Business › Nigerian Cleantech Startup, Havenhill, Raises $4.6 Million Funding by Salewa97(op): 4:50am On Mar 10, 2021 |
Nigerian cleantech startup, Havenhill Synergy Limited, has raised $4.6m from Chapel Hill Denham Nigeria Infrastructure Debt Fund (NDIF) to aid the construction of 22 smart solar mini-grids in Nigeria.
Founded in 2010 by CEO Olusegun Odunaiya, Havenhill focuses on improving access to electricity in rural areas using mini-grids. The company also offers renewable energy services for businesses in Nigeria’s industrial and commercial hubs.
Havenhill’s solar mini-grid solution promises to connect up to 70,000 people as well in establishments in various communities to clean and reliable energy.
In a statement, the NDIF asserts that the recent funding round was in line with the Nigeria Electrification Project.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), access to electricity in Nigeria is still low and its rural electrification rate still stands at 39%. In 2019, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimated this gap costs Nigeria an estimated $29 billion annually.
So far, the Nigerian government has taken steps to develop the solar power sector, but there are still some questionable aspects of its rural electrification plans. We explored some of these questions in this piece.
The CEO of NIDF, Anshul Rai noted that Havenhill’s financing was completed from the fund’s recently concluded Series-7 capital raise, which also involved the participation of African Development Bank (AfDB).
It is noteworthy that cleantech is increasingly becoming an attractive investment destination as Briter Bridges reports that only fintech outperformed cleantech startups in attracting funding in 2020. https://techpoint.africa/2021/03/09/nigerian-cleantech-startup-havenhill-raises-4-6m/

Nigerian authorities have arrested a drug baron, who escaped arrest for unlawful importation of 5.250kg of heroin concealed in books from Pakistani city of Karachi to Lagos since June 2010.
Chidi Olife’s arrest in Lagos by the Joint Task Force Operation Unit of Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agent (NDLEA) came just as operatives of the drug agency in Adamawa State apprehended an illicit drug dealer, Rabiu Imam, on Friday with Tramadal tablet 225mg weighing 45.4kg and estimated at over N50 million.
A statement by the agency on Saturday said Olife was arrested “following vital intelligence on the drug source, flight details, date and place of arrival, weight and mode of concealment, name, phone number and address of the recipient of the consignment and a planned controlled delivery operation coordinated by the Commander NDLEA’s JTF, Adeniyi Olumuyiwa.” Source: https://www.google.com/amp/s/en.dailypakistan.com.pk/21-Feb-2021/nigeria-arrests-notorious-drug-baron-who-smuggled-cocaine-from-karachi-to-lagos%3fversion=amp
