Creating a forum like NL isn't really tough or costly, you just need a team with excellent collaboration skills.With a team of 5, you can really achieve alot within 2 months.

the main problem is maintainance and updating, and scaling cost.

Now back to the question, the total costs depends on the 2 factors: employees rate(geography, skills and experience level), infrastructure cost and operating cost(hosting, aws, computer, electricity,...)...just google it or quora it or stackoverflow it.

But what I was trying to point out is that learning web design alone can be very limiting especially considering how employers could easily include web designing skills for job postings.

No VS is a one of the (several)text editor for writing codes. By third party I mean services that you delegate some roles eg instead of hosting your project in your PC, you can use heroku, AWS EC2, digitalocean,...(or any web hosting service), firebase helps with repeated backend operations(session stores, authentication,...)

Most of the time some jobs might require applicants to have at least basic knowledge some of the popular cloud service

You don't need a fancy computer for programing (especially web development since you'll mostly use third-party infrastructure eg heroku, AWS,...). I've been an old HP elitebook for over a year(though I plan upgrading it because I'll be venturing into ML). It's specs aren't great just 2gb ram, 64bits, 250gb,windows 10... I'll advise you to restart your PC, that's the ultimate solution for any software-related issue

Hello nairaland programmers, I need your help concerning this AWS issue I've been battling with for a while.
I tried signing up for AWS free tier, and everything was going on fine till i got an email that my bank(gt bank) didn't approve the transaction hence I should try sorting it out with them.
When I went to the bank to make inquiries, the customer care said I'll need a domiciliary account before I can pay to any foreign company.
The thing baffling me is that i know a friend who uses AWS and doesn't have a domiciliary account. Also, due to the fact that there are a lot of guys involved in programing in Nigeria, does that mean they all have a domiciliary account especially looking at how stringent getting it is.
Please how do i go about it?
