The Nigerian market isn't ripe for SaaS products.

What almost everyone needs right now is access to food, water, electricity, telecommunication, finance, infrastructure, and transportation.

Our startups should try solving this problems instead of trying to build a scheduling app.

RomanceWhich Of These Is Worse: Masturbation Or Premarital Sex by SALVATION30(op): 8:49pm On Aug 08, 2023
Throughout my over 6 years on this platform, I've read various posts by individuals who share their struggles and challenges with masturbation. But I rarely see any about premarital sex. Instead, it seems like a lot of people encourage it.

I created this thread because I want to hear the honest opinions of others.

In my own opinion, if we look at it objectively, I think engaging in premarital sex is worse than masturbation.

The worst things that can ever happen to someone who masturbates are:
Depression
Erectile dysfunction
Addiction to porn
Stunted growth
Loss of essential minerals
Reduced relationship with God, etc.

The worst things that can happen to someone who engages in premarital sex are:
Death
Incurable STIs
Spiritual attacks that can lead to mental illness and incurable illnesses
Risk of being used for rituals, etc.

But above all, the best option is abstinence.

Let's hear your opinion.

Reading the comments of the first 3 page has made me realize one thing: most of you all deserve this government.

The organizers(which is a publicly listed company) said they spent over 4 billion naira and some foul-mouthed illiterate are still spewing senseless remarks.

Until most of Nigerians learn how to not jump on the bandwagon, Nigeria will forever be underdeveloped.

Purchase of Foodstuffs (from people with families to feed)

Purchase of goods and cothing (from people witj families to feed)

payment to professionals (interior designers, DJ's, ...)

Sponsors would be able to sell more product and services

Participants would have better opportunity to showcase their services to the world

Taxes received by government will be used to build infrastructure, social amenities, ...

The list goes on

If the government can match the economic effort of the organizers of bbnaija, this country would be better than it currently is

Pray for Nigerian youths

Well Said.
We concur.

Very Useless.
This reminds us......

The Big Brother Show: Painful Statistics of what should be an illicit business

Total number of votes cast during Britain Got talent 2017 = 6.2million votes

Total number of votes cast during American got talent 2017 = 52.1million votes.

Note: American population is almost twice Nigeria's population.

Mind you, most of the votes cast on either Britain or American got talent are *absolutely free* because you can vote on their websites & on the Apps without paying a dime.

Total number of votes cast during “Big Brother Nigeria” 2018 = 170million votes @ N30 per sms for a show that contributes absolutely nothing to their lives.

It is neither a talent show or life enhancing or promoting show. A show where adults are kept in a cage to freely give & take sex on National Television, while the organisers make more money from the youths.

If INEC organises general election this weekend and ask Nigerian youths to vote on their mobile phones @ N10 per SMS to elect leaders that will shape their futures & the country, they will ask Nigerian Government to credit their accounts 1st before they will agree to vote in that magnitude.

Wasted Generation” ~ Prof. Wole Soyinka called them.

“A generation that play too much, sleep too much and engage in idle chatter and gossip" ~ Chief Obafemi Awolowo foresaw

A generation of illiterate graduates ~ Atiku Abubakar called them in 2016

A generation that are constantly not concerned about the deteriorating conditions of their senses & not bothered about their own future~ Osquare78 knows them.

We all must be wary of this generation.... they are the larger chunk of Nigerian population.

It is pathetic. 170 Million votes Multiplied by N30 = N 5.1 billion and the winner got N25 million plus an SUV worth N12 million a trip and electronics.

To destroy the future, destroy the seed (children and youths)...

Pray for Nigeria youths to open their eyes and for God to touch the hearts of those who engage in such illicit business.

So unfortunate!

We Rise!

Guy this an adult reality tv show.

Do you think all of the money made by the organizers belongs to them. These guys are massively contributing to the Nigerian economy.

Do they pay the hotels with stone.
How do you think they buy the foodstuffs, rent space, hire DJs, pay caterers, ...

Are the people working for these organizers not people with families?

Don't blatantly join the bandwagon

If you can show me a video where the participants have actual sex (penis inserted in the vagina) I'll stop talking.

Nigerian has one of the highest unemployment rate in the world, Nigerians are one of the most unhappy citizens in the world, Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world,... so please tell me if these show (that is generation income for it's participants, employees and other businesses) is cancelled, how do you want Nigeria to escape these trap.

Don't be didactic.

*HOME TRUTH*

I run a manufacturing business and a trading business.
The biggest challenge in my manufacturing business is not power, or infrastructure, the biggest challenge is getting honest staff. Everyone we hire appears to be on a mission to steal as much as possible. Inflated invoices, recording less than the actual number of units produced. The worst part of it all is that all the fraud we've uncovered is not done by a single person, it's usually many staff who collude with each other, from production, to sales, to finance, even top management. There was a year I overhauled management 3 times in a year.........
But me, I've found a solution sha, I now use Indian management. So competent, so honest and so straightforward. I thought they were expensive at first with all the visa fees, accommodation, house staff, but now that losses due to staff theft have been reduced to a minimum, and efficiency increased, the Indian management has turned out to be cheaper than the previous Nigerian management. Now, all sensitive positions involving money go to Indians. Nigerians are only allowed in non-sensitive positions. I used to criticize companies like Dangote Group that hire so many Indians when there are many unemployed Nigerians, but now, I understand their decision.

My biggest challenge in the trading business is the same, getting honest staff. The form of trading occurs in the open market, and involves staff having access to huge sums of money running into a few millions. I know how much I pay to security companies to provide escorts for the staff, not to prevent robbery, but to ensure that the staff go straight to the bank to deposit the money after the day's sales and not disappear with my money. This money spent on security companies is even enough to be declared as profit. We have to spend on CCTV, biometric scanners and other things that wouldn't be needed if staff weren't looking for the slightest opportunity to steal.

It got so bad at a point that my main criteria for employing staff was no longer competency but honesty. At least, competency and skills can be learnt, but once you're dishonest, you're dishonest.

We always complain of the economy and how there are no jobs. I know people abroad who would have loved to set up job creating businesses in Nigeria but they can't because they can't get any trustworthy person to run it.

I know people in Nigeria with so much money, they want to start factories and other job-creating businesses but they can't because they are occupied elsewhere and can't get any trustworthy person to run the business. So instead of investing in the real sector and creating jobs, they'll just buy treasury bills, while the thieves are shouting no jobs.

Many big businesses would have been born in Nigeria if we could engage in partnerships, but we cant because you can't trust anyone. This is one advantage the Indians and Lebanese have over us in Nigeria. They can pull resources together and do mega-business, unlike Nigerians that because only one person must do everything since we can't partner, end up with small, tiny businesses.

Start a poultry and they will be stealing your eggs. Some will even go ahead to be killing the chickens so that they'll be allowed to take them home.

Start an entertainment/viewing/game center and they'll be pocketing your money. On the days you're around at the business, the money realized will be x10 of the money realized when you're not around..... Because they're eating your money.

Lease out a vehicle to a driver to use and watch as he'll finish you.

Start a restaurant, the same thing will happen. More than half of the total food ingredients will end up in their personal kitchens.

Even ordinary provisions shop, they will find a way to steal.

You'll see them with that their evil, wicked saying "na where person dey work, na there e dey chop, na e make dem dey callam workchop/workshop"...... Just imagine, justifying theft at work.

And you'll see these people point their crooked fingers at politicians when they're not any different. I usually say the reason most Nigerians haven't stolen billions of government money, is simply lack of opportunity.

*On every level, Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria*.

If the truth wanna kill the online fraudsters and criminals we have on Nairaland,
you guys should better die now.
We will continue to hit your head as much as we can with the truth and be against your fraudulent lifestyle ALWAYS.

GREED!!!

When we say we are our own problem they start grumbling.....

Okay listen to these examples:

1. You sell chicken and add over 40% profit ,you are happy forgetting that the person that bought the chicken sells tomatoes and pepper.

2. The tomatoes and pepper seller has to recover the excess she paid for the chicken, so she adds her own 42% profit margin.

3. Teacher will come and buy these 2 items with what? She has no other alternative than to increase lesson fees or school fees.

4. You will go and rent house from a landlord who has paid excess for cement, sand, chicken, tomatoes and pepper, lesson fees, how will he meet up if not by increasing his house rent by 60%.

And the circle continues, it is not about dollars, dollars is just an excuse, abi wetin concern garri, beans and yam with dollars.

The problem is you and I and our excessive greed.

Only a fraudster or criminal will be wailing about our above post.
We hope you ain't one of them kiddo?
If so, we understand your weeping about the honest truth.
No wonder you are your fellow children are always wailing and in serious pains reading our posts here.

Addendum:
The below are screenshots from a very recent party we went to grill Barbecue for one of our clients we met on Nairaland,
And the below are the amount of meats the food caterer hired for the event stole, ready to take home with her.
After telling people at the party that beef has finished!
(After being paid close to 2 Million Naira for her catering job!!)
A picture speaks more than a thousand words.
Shame on her and her online criminals here.....
That's why we need to embrace technology in every facet of our businesses

CelebritiesRe: Big Brother Naija: Problems And Likely Solutions by SALVATION30(m): 6:25pm On Aug 14, 2022
PeterPatterns:
“I remember very well in my season (2006 Big Brother), it was literally a highlight when there was a kiss like 3 weeks into the show. You guys were kissing on day one! Miracle and Nina kissed on the second day.” – Ebuka on his Bounce Podcast

This succinctly addresses the descent into debauchery which we have seen on the Big Brother Naija show as it has moved from season to season.
A kiss on an entertainment show may be generally innocuous. However as the motive morphs into a need to deliver a higher jolt of entertainment shock, create highlights and trend online the contestants yield themselves to greater levels of decadence with the unproven belief that it will save them from eviction.

The show has gone from third-week kisses to bathroom s*x, oral s*x, simulated s*x, under-the-duvet hand s*x, masturbation, blatant adultery, drunkenness and the vilest forms of communication. And the usual defense is: ‘It is rated 18.’
Yet some of the people who participate in these activities become household names and celebrities when the show ends. They snatch up endorsement deals from what might be considered family-friendly brands. For instance, Bam Bam and Teddy A appeared in an advert for a tomato product.

This comment is not to call anybody out or to embarrass them. Regardless, I feel that as a society, we have unforcedly developed short memories, grown a high tolerance for obscenity and our moral will seems snatched by the unyielding hands of the bandwagon effect. This is unfortunate.
Not to sound overly sanctimonious, I believe it behooves us all to take a long hard look in the mirror of decency or at least take a pause for introspection. We are all victims here including the people who participate in the show. Some of them have had their lives capsized by the events that occur within the show: ask Tega, the erstwhile married woman in the Shine Ya Eye Season.

Personally, I am not one to advocate for meaningless bans handed down by government agencies – they are always too broad and lack specificity. And boycotts, as a form of protest, have not really proven effective in these parts – they too, like bans, are unwieldy arrows with imprecise striking tips.
Rather, simple rule changes within the show would greatly suffice.

One, give a strike to anyone engaging in s*x or s*xual activity and define exactly what you mean by s*x.
Two, restrict access to alcohol or give extra benefits or coins to those who are able to abstain from it.
Three, deduct points or put fines in place for swearing and using dirty language.
This would broaden the appeal of the show, add more interesting plot twists and make its gamification more robust.

We cannot be more woke than those who ‘carry wokeness on their head’.
The animated movie ‘Lightyear’ included a kiss between two female characters. Though Hollywood is the ‘woke’ capital of the world, the movie still received a lot of harsh criticisms due to this, affecting its box office performance. There is no need to pretend as if these things do not matter because they do, more than we realize.
Try as you may you cannot outdo Hollywood; you only end up losing your self-identity in the dust in a desperate sprint to play catch-up.

We have to do better.
Godspeed.
That's very impossible.

There's no way bbnaija would generate huge viewership, sponsors and revenue if the points (sex, alcohol, profane language,...) you listed aren't done.

Nigerians are currently one of the most unhappiest citizens in the world. once in a year TV shows like this can actually relieve anxiety, depression and many more.

Also, don't forget that the organizers are also contributing to the economy. The cash made by their DJ's, interior designers, sponsors, participants,... can have a positive financial effect on a lot of people.

Even countries where religious belief originate from are embracing entertainment as a possible source of revenue.I remember reading a news about an Islamic country(probably Saudi or Dubai) wanting to Nicky Minaj for a concert.
