https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tu7GfpSLEdk Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of losing control of his administration amid the escalating wave of insecurity across the country. He said the scale and persistence of violent crimes across Nigeria suggest that the government is either overwhelmed or complicit. According to him, Nigeria possesses the necessary tools and institutional structures to combat insecurity but lacks the political will and honesty to deploy them effectively. “The government needs to come out and confess the truth that they are enabling this insecurity, and they cannot pretend that they don’t have all the tools that it takes to tackle insecurity. “The first enemy of government is government. The first enemy of the people is the government. You cannot commit a crime and last one week or one month, if you don’t have government people cooperating with you”, he noted.

The Federal Government has dismissed media reports suggesting a nationwide ban on open grazing, stating that no such policy has been declared. In a statement issued on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, explained that the government is pursuing a gradual, well-coordinated transition from open grazing to modern ranching systems, in line with global best practices and the realities of Nigeria’s livestock economy. He noted that Nigeria currently has 273 gazetted grazing reserves covering more than 4.5 million hectares, and the government is working collaboratively with state governments to revitalize, equip, and make these reserves fully functional for pastoralists and other livestock operators. According to the Minister, the objective is not to abruptly abolish open grazing but to create viable, sustainable alternatives that enhance productivity, minimize conflicts, and promote a modern livestock ecosystem. “Pastoralists, like every other economic group, require a structured business environment. The grazing reserves provided by law are meant to serve as business premises for livestock activities. Our responsibility is to upgrade these reserves and facilitate their proper utilisation,” Mukhtar stated. He emphasized that the transition is being implemented through policies that balance economic development, security, and social cohesion. https://voicenews.com.ng/fg-clarifies-position-open-grazing-not-banned-transition-to-ranching-ongoing-minister/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VzG0YRxeWI Buba Galadima, has taken a sharp swipe at the Tinubu led Federal Government, accusing it of spending “99% of its time politicking” while insecurity continues to worsen across the country. Galadima, a member of the party’s Board of Trustees, faulted the government’s handling of recent abductions and rising violence nationwide. He said the administration had “abdicated its primary responsibilities of protecting and saving lives of people and properties,” insisting that the focus had shifted almost entirely to political battles rather than security reforms. According to him, “The government has abdicated his primary responsibilities of protecting and saving lives of people and properties and has given 99% of it’s time to politicking.” He added that those in power were more concerned with weakening opposition parties than addressing the fear and uncertainty that citizens now live with.

“The Federal Government recognises the sensitivity surrounding issues of religious freedom and security, and assures citizens that firm, urgent, and coordinated actions are being taken to safeguard the nation,” Onanuga said. SamGift0817: |
The United States Government has expressed its readiness to deepen security cooperation with Nigeria by providing advanced intelligence support, defence equipment, and other strategic resources to bolster ongoing operations against terrorists and violent extremist groups. This development follows high-level engagements held last week in Washington, D.C., between a Nigerian delegation and senior US officials. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral security ties and exploring new frameworks for collaboration. Nigeria’s delegation was led by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and comprised key security and government officials, including the Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi; Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lieutenant General Emmanuel Undiandeye; Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; and representatives from the Office of the National Security Adviser. According to a statement issued on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, the delegation met with top officials from the U.S. Congress, the White House Faith Office, the State Department, the National Security Council, and the Department of War. During the engagements, the Nigerian delegation firmly refuted allegations of genocide, stressing that violent attacks in the country impact families and communities across all religious and ethnic lines. They noted that mischaracterising the situation only deepens division and distorts the reality on the ground. “The discussions provided an important platform to correct misconceptions about Nigeria, foster a constructive and solution-driven partnership with the United States, strengthen mutual trust, and promote a coordinated approach to protecting vulnerable communities, particularly in the Middle Belt,” Onanuga stated. He added that the United States also indicated its willingness to provide complementary support, including humanitarian assistance for affected populations in the Middle Belt and technical aid to enhance early-warning and prevention mechanisms. Both countries agreed to immediately initiate a non-binding cooperation framework and establish a Joint Working Group to drive coordination across agreed areas of collaboration. In turn, the Nigerian delegation reaffirmed the government's commitment to enhancing civilian protection measures. https://voicenews.com.ng/us-pledges-enhanced-intelligence-defence-support-to-nigeria-presidency/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvC9ATl9MDI Former President Goodluck Jonathan has cautioned that Nigeria's political space is increasingly being dominated by "rascality," urging political actors to embrace responsibility, discipline and a commitment to national stability. He issued the warning on Thursday in Abuja at a gala dinner marking the 10th anniversary of the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation and celebrating his 68th birthday. The event, themed "Legacy of Impact: Celebrating Our Journey," drew an array of high-profile political, traditional, business and diplomatic figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former First Lady Patience Jonathan, the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, former Senate President Pius Anyim, and other dignitaries. Addressing guests, Mr Jonathan lamented the absence of standards, training and accountability in Nigeria's political recruitment process. He argued that while every professional field requires certification, competence and discipline, politics remains the only sector where individuals ascend to leadership "without any form of preparation." "We must play our politics with decorum, with a sense of responsibility, not with rascality. Politics is not a business of rascals," Mr Jonathan said. He continued, "Even to teach in a primary school, you go through a training process, get a school certificate before you can even teach in primary school. But it is only in politics that there is no training."
