Former Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has accused the Edo State Government led by Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration, of sponsoring hoodlums to attack him during recent engagements in Manchester and Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo says he is willing to resign from office if President Bola Tinubu fails to secure victory in the state during the 2027 presidential election.

Either side of the coin is a failure. So you can’t police the state. You can’t secure the state. You fail. You don’t even have enough mental capacity to explain your failure.”

Describing what he sees as a lack of strategic direction, he said: “From all indications, the government has lost its map and it’s just waking up every day reacting to any new incident or the umbrage whether local or international. There is no rational observer who would say, this is the trajectory of where the presidency was headed to.”

He argued that the administration had not yet fully settled into a cohesive operational structure. “President Tinubu has lost control of his own government which he hasn’t had time to put together to start with,” he said.

Using a maritime analogy, Adebayo likened leadership challenges to a captain unable to navigate a ship: “They definitely are in the wilderness. And if the captain of a ship cannot find his way to the bridge… then he has no control over the speed of the sail…”8

The Federal Government has dismissed media reports suggesting a nationwide ban on open grazing, stating that no such policy has been declared.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, explained that the government is pursuing a gradual, well-coordinated transition from open grazing to modern ranching systems, in line with global best practices and the realities of Nigeria’s livestock economy.

He noted that Nigeria currently has 273 gazetted grazing reserves covering more than 4.5 million hectares, and the government is working collaboratively with state governments to revitalize, equip, and make these reserves fully functional for pastoralists and other livestock operators.

According to the Minister, the objective is not to abruptly abolish open grazing but to create viable, sustainable alternatives that enhance productivity, minimize conflicts, and promote a modern livestock ecosystem.

“Pastoralists, like every other economic group, require a structured business environment. The grazing reserves provided by law are meant to serve as business premises for livestock activities. Our responsibility is to upgrade these reserves and facilitate their proper utilisation,” Mukhtar stated.

He emphasized that the transition is being implemented through policies that balance economic development, security, and social cohesion.

Buba Galadima, has taken a sharp swipe at the Tinubu led Federal Government, accusing it of spending “99% of its time politicking” while insecurity continues to worsen across the country.

Galadima, a member of the party’s Board of Trustees, faulted the government’s handling of recent abductions and rising violence nationwide.

He said the administration had “abdicated its primary responsibilities of protecting and saving lives of people and properties,” insisting that the focus had shifted almost entirely to political battles rather than security reforms.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has cautioned that Nigeria's political space is increasingly being dominated by "rascality," urging political actors to embrace responsibility, discipline and a commitment to national stability.

He issued the warning on Thursday in Abuja at a gala dinner marking the 10th anniversary of the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation and celebrating his 68th birthday.
