https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uq0sYcIu-8s Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna, has alleged that the suspected thugs who invaded the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition meeting in Kaduna are government-sponsored. Speaking during an interview on Sunday Politics, a Channels Television programme, el-Rufai alleged that the administration of Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, was behind the attack. “It is very stupid for anyone to think I would invite thugs to invade an event of my party,” the former governor said. “The police were there, I don’t know what they are now investigating, they knew what happened, they provided covers for the thugs to do what they did, so thugs were government sponsored, we know them, we know the police officers that were there. “The government of Kaduna state was behind it (the attack). I will submit my evidence to the police service commission and the inspector general of police, if they care to take action.” On Saturday, suspected thugs stormed the inauguration of an opposition transition committee in Kaduna, attacking participants and damaging property.

Leader of South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema, has renewed calls for a united Africa governed under a single president, one parliament, one currency, and a common military command. Speaking at the Nigerian Bar Association’s Annual General Conference in Enugu on Sunday, Malema urged African leaders to discard colonial-era boundaries and embrace visa-free movement across the continent. “We demand one Africa, we demand a borderless Africa, we demand an Africa with one president, one currency, one military command, with one parliament,” Malema declared to thousands of lawyers and dignitaries at the event. The 44-year-old politician said Africa, with its vast endowment of diamonds, minerals, and other natural resources, has the capacity to build wealth and prosperity without dependence on foreign powers. “We must unite against the forces that seek to exploit us. The land belongs to Africans, and the minerals of Africa must be returned to Africans. We have the capacity to create industries and process our minerals here,” Malema said.

The African Action Congress (AAC) has called for the immediate removal of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over allegations of corruption, abuse of office, and intimidation of residents. In a statement signed by its FCT chairman, Agena Robert Ande, the party said it was “utterly appalled” by revelations linking Wike to the purchase of a $2 million mansion in Florida, USA, allegedly acquired through his wife and children to conceal ownership. The AAC further accused the minister of engaging in secret land allocations, nepotism, and illicit enrichment. According to the statement, Wike allegedly allocated a prime plot of land in Guzape II valued at ₦400 million to his 90-year-old father, Joshua Nlemanya Wike, in addition to other land deals involving close associates. “This blatant nepotism and favoritism demonstrate Wike's utter disregard for the public interest and his propensity for exploiting his office for personal aggrandizement,” the party stated. The AAC also accused Wike of threatening shop owners and market users in Abuja with land seizures if they fail to support his preferred candidates in the forthcoming council elections — a move the party described as a brazen attempt to intimidate citizens and undermine democracy. On allegations of illicit enrichment, the party questioned how the minister could afford such luxury acquisitions given his official annual salary and allowances, which reportedly stand at about ₦7.8 million. “It is implausible for Wike to amass over $2 million for the luxury acquisition without dipping into public resources, raising serious concerns about illicit enrichment, cross-border money laundering, and abuse of office,” the AAC said. https://voicenews.com.ng/aac-demands-wikes-removal-as-fct-minister-over-2-million-u-s-mansion-land-grab-allegations/

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected the plan by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to increase salaries of political office holders, describing the move as “tone-deaf” and “an affront” to struggling Nigerians. In a statement issued on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the proposal to review salaries of the President, Vice President, governors, and other top officials was ill-timed given the current economic realities. While acknowledging RMAFC’s constitutional mandate to review emoluments of public officers, the ADC argued that any pay rise at this time demonstrates how “disconnected” government has become from the plight of ordinary citizens. The statement noted that political office holders already enjoy numerous allowances and perks that cushion the effects of inflation, unlike ordinary Nigerians whose N70,000 minimum wage has been eroded by rising food and fuel costs. “How else are political office holders able to support their lifestyle of luxury and opulence if indeed these ‘outdated’ salaries mean anything to them?” the party queried. The ADC insisted that government has “no moral right” to demand sacrifice from ordinary Nigerians while increasing the salaries of politicians. Instead, it urged authorities to focus on raising the minimum wage to a living standard, ensuring timely payment of civil servants’ salaries, and expanding social welfare programmes to reach vulnerable households. https://voicenews.com.ng/adc-rejects-proposed-salary-increase-for-political-office-holders-demands-pay-rise-for-nigerians/
