https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erHyfs2UY_8 Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has accused human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, of not having the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC certificate. The police commissioner had declared Sowore wanted for allegedly planning to incite public disorder and obstruct major roads in the state. “I want to make it abundantly clear that Sowore doesn’t have a NYSC certificate because of punitive reasons. He was posted to Adamawa, and he was evasive. He never did his service. “So such a person that is not even qualified to bear the NYSC certificate of our great country, Nigeria, will now be coming out to disturb the peace of Lagos? We will not allow it,” he said.

In his response, Governor Oyebanji expressed satisfaction with the quality and speed of work on the project, attributing the success of his administration’s infrastructure drive to the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu. SamGift0817: |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlElB5wK2_k Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Ayodele Fayose, has urged Governor Biodun Oyebanji to disregard social media criticisms and what he described as “cheap blackmail” from those he called “players of morbid politics.” Fayose made the call on Tuesday in Igbara Odo-Ekiti while commissioning the newly reconstructed 14-kilometre Igbara Odo–Ikogosi road, as part of events marking Oyebanji’s third anniversary in office. Speaking before a large crowd, the former governor praised Oyebanji for uniting Ekiti leaders across party lines and steering the state toward progress. He noted that the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in the state had revealed some betrayers within Oyebanji’s camp, but urged the governor to forgive them in the spirit of political maturity. “I am not here today to praise you, but to celebrate with you,” Fayose said. “Don’t be bothered about blackmailers and wailers barking at your backyard, especially those making negative narratives on the internet. The people of Ekiti are not moved by their rantings.” Fayose commended the governor’s humility and inclusiveness, saying his achievements and style of governance had earned him popularity among the masses. He also recalled reconstructing the same road project 21 years ago, expressing delight that Oyebanji had further improved on it. Predicting victory for Oyebanji in the 2026 governorship election, Fayose said: “In my mind, we have already concluded the voting. With what is happening here today, whoever is opposing you will be disgraced. I have no apology supporting you.” https://voicenews.com.ng/fayose-urges-oyebanji-to-ignore-social-media-blackmailers-predicts-apc-victory-in-2026/ |
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has berated Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Mr. Peter Obi, over his reaction to the United States’ recent designation of Nigeria as a “country of particular concern.” In a strongly worded statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Hon. Seye Oladejo (Mogaji), the Lagos APC accused Obi of attempting to “turn a sensitive national issue into political theatre rather than demonstrate statesmanship.” According to Oladejo, Obi’s delayed response to the U.S. action showed a lack of genuine patriotism, arguing that his eventual comments were “too little, too late, and too predictable.” “For a man always seeking microphones and hashtags, his sudden silence was deafening — until well-meaning Nigerians began to publicly question it,” the statement read. “It has become clear that Obi did not speak out of patriotic instinct, but out of public pressure and fear of further exposing his double standards.” The ruling party in Lagos accused the former Anambra State governor of finding delight in the nation’s difficulties, describing his attitude as “selective outrage” and “political opportunism.” “Real leaders defend their country in difficult moments. Statesmen balance criticism with dignity and national pride. But Peter Obi appears content only when Nigeria is under pressure, believing every challenge for the nation is an opportunity for his political resurrection,” Oladejo said. The statement further asserted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working diligently to tackle insecurity and strengthen Nigeria’s global standing through reforms and strategic interventions. https://voicenews.com.ng/lagos-apc-to-peter-obi-stop-jubilating-over-nigerias-challenges-patriotism-is-not-selective-outrage/

Prince Emmanuel Kanu, brother to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed deep appreciation to Nigerians who participated in the recent #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest held in Abuja. The demonstration, spearheaded by activist Omoyele Sowore, took place on October 20, 2025, with participants calling for the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu. However, protesters were prevented by security operatives from marching to the Presidential Villa, as police blocked access to several strategic locations within the Federal Capital Territory. During the protest, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, and several others were arrested. Sowore was later detained and charged alongside them before a magistrate court in Kuje for alleged incitement, disturbance of public peace, and disobedience to a court order. The court granted them bail on October 24, but their release was delayed until October 27, after they met the bail conditions. In a post shared on his Facebook page on Friday, Prince Emmanuel Kanu commended Nigerians from across ethnic and regional lines who joined the peaceful protest, describing their participation as a show of national unity and commitment to justice.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has issued a stern warning to nightclub operators, event centre owners, and fun seekers across Nigeria to desist from organising or attending drug-fueled parties, describing such activities as serious criminal offences under the nation’s narcotics laws. This warning follows a weekend operation in Lagos, during which NDLEA operatives raided Proxy Night Club, located on Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, over an alleged drug-themed party held between Saturday night, October 25, and the early hours of Sunday, October 26, 2025. Major Seizure and Arrests In a statement signed by Femi Babafemi, NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, the agency confirmed that over 100 individuals were arrested during the operation, including the club’s owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, and his manager, Joachin Millary. Both are currently in custody for further investigation, while others were profiled, counselled, and released after preliminary debriefing. During the raid, operatives seized approximately 384.886 kilograms of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, alongside other narcotic substances discovered in the club’s storage areas. “Any gathering organised for the purpose of consuming, distributing, or promoting the use of illicit substances constitutes a criminal offence under the NDLEA Act,” the statement read. “These so-called ‘drug parties’ will be met with decisive enforcement action.” Intelligence-Led Operation According to Babafemi, the operation was a product of weeks of credible intelligence and surveillance on the facility. Undercover agents reportedly infiltrated the club on Saturday night, purchasing and observing the open sale and consumption of drugs between 11:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m., before enforcement teams moved in to disrupt the event and make arrests. https://voicenews.com.ng/ndlea-warns-club-owners-fun-seekers-against-drug-parties-after-lagos-raid/

The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, says he has tripled his personal security following a series of death threats from individuals and companies affected by the federal government’s ongoing mining sector reforms. Speaking at a pre-event press briefing ahead of the 10th Nigeria Mining Week, scheduled for October 13–15, 2025, in Abuja, Alake said the threats intensified after his ministry revoked thousands of dormant and non-compliant mining licences as part of efforts to restore order and transparency in the sector. “In fact, I have had to triple my personal security because I’ve received several threats from those whose licences were revoked for one form of infraction or the other. One even sent me a text message threatening me directly,” the minister revealed. According to Alake, the threats, which included intimidating messages and coordinated smear campaigns, were attempts to derail the ministry’s resolve to enforce existing laws and clean up the mining industry. “They have employed all sorts of tactics — blackmail, sponsored media attacks, and even threats of violence — just to make us reverse our decisions. But I told them, you can go and study my antecedents. We are battle-hardened and we will not retreat,” he declared. The minister noted that the crackdown had led to the revocation of 3,794 mining titles, including an additional 1,263 mineral licences withdrawn in the past two years for failure to comply with regulatory obligations such as payment of service fees and commencement of exploration activities. Alake emphasized that the reforms were driven by the need to enforce the “use it or lose it” clause embedded in every mining licence — a global best practice that ensures titles are utilized productively. “Anywhere in the world, if you’re given a certificate of occupancy or a mining title, you’re expected to develop it within a stipulated period or lose it. That’s the principle we’re applying here,” he said. He accused some defaulting companies of resorting to threats of international arbitration despite years of non-compliance with Nigerian laws. “One company that hasn’t paid service fees for years is threatening international arbitration. I want to see the international judge who will rule in favour of a firm that violated our local laws,” Alake added. The minister, however, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating a fair and transparent environment for legitimate investors. “We are not against investors; we welcome genuine ones. But we cannot continue indulging defaulters who hold licences indefinitely and contribute nothing to the economy. From profitable investments come royalties, taxes, and growth,” he stated. https://voicenews.com.ng/alake-triples-security-after-death-threats-over-mining-licence-revocations/
