You're saying issues, there is no bigger issue than the belt. That's pro-wrestling 101. I once saw Shawn Michaels tell Bischoff that the best way he could get back at HHH was by taking his belt, it's very logical. The only reason they ended fighting against HIAC without any title on the line was because they had exhausted and cost eachother the opportunity at the belt. Again, it makes no sense for the characters of Cody and Paul to neglect the MITB briefcase for a tag team match that leads nowhere. Have them lose their opportunities to get a spot at the MITB first then this tag action can happen; that's what I mentioned earlier about excuse and reason. If they wanted to do that, they could have done it that way, you cover up your logic holes in the process.

Did Cody pin John Cena during that mitb match or not? He did but hasn't made a challenge yet.
Who challenged John the next night on raw? It was punk. Cena accepted and named the venue.
Cody pinned Cena in that tag match hence can always lay a challenge anytime for the title.
