A trap is being set for Sowore just as it was done for Dele Giwa, except in the case of Sowore, if DSS is saying his actions are capable of causing unrest, then they're are actually right because what in the world did I just read?

You're right. Those who took out Abacha did so to placate the South West in particular (who they deem an important piece of one Nigeria) as well as others who were aggrieved of Abiola's death, as they didn't want to risk instability in Nigeria due to their interest. And it didn't help that Abacha was becoming uncontrollable especially with his moves in the mode of payment/transactions of Nigerian oil.

And I ask, why? Even so, why should it happen now? I don't care about Tinubu one bit but where was this call when OBJ was using Maurice Iwuruwuru to rig elections blatantly? When in 2003 we would be on the queue and elections results for our local government will be getting announced? Shouldn't this have been the perfect time to start this call?

I know the usual response "should we continue doing the same thing because it happened in the past?" But my response is, why not, especially since not only did we allowed it for OBJ, we allowed it for two other presidents in GEJ and PMB.

Whatever we do though, we should always remember that presidents will come and go but Nigeria will remain for many years to come. Special demands such as this should be made in the interests of the people of Nigeria, irrespective of our feelings for the current occupant of the seat of the presidency.

If the problem is the fact that Hamas, Hezbollahs, and Houthis missiles are not reaching its targets and doing the intended damages like those of the IDF, then maybe they should work on that but enough of this selective outrage.

The story is the same in politics too. While we have not had women governors, we have had senators. Now go and look at who the male senators have produced in politics vis-a-vis the women.

The point is, we got to where we are today because men opportunities were significantly reduced in favour of women, despite the fact that men when they get opportunities distribute to other men and women alike.

The problem is, Igbos overestimate themselves while underestimating the rest of the country. Just as the South East and North (west, east and central) had their way in 1999 and Yorubas couldn't say or do anything about it, if Umahi for instance is the choice of at least South West, North East and North West, I can tell you for free it matters less what the Igbos do or say. Another case in point is of the current president. Although the South wanted Obi (or at least wanted him more than Tinubu going by the results of the election), the North wanted Tinubu (or at least wanted him more than Obi).

As such, in the Nigeria of today, only the likes of Rochas, Umahi and Soludo have pathway to the presidency as a person of Igbo extraction. Obi, Abaribe, Uzodinma will suffer the same fate as those in the past such as Awolowo, Falae, Buhari (pre 2015), etc.

The military guys who handpicked OBJ were not stupid. Of all the things that he can be accused of, no region or ethnicity can really accuse him of marginalising them. But look at Buhari on the other hand who was rejected severally by Southerners before his handshake with Tinubu's ACN. When he finally clinched power, rather than go after his criminal Fulani brothers, he instead focused on ESN and Igboho.

My point is, the fears of/opposition to the idea of the presidency of certain candidates from certain region or ethnicities will always be valid, even if we currently struggle to admit it or understand why.

I would rather Lookman didn't take this route especially considering that he is doing this for another Italian club in Inter Milan. He should remember that before him, there had been a certain Antoine Griezmann who even bought himself out of Atletico those years to seal a Barca move, only to find himself back there just few years after!

We fix our own road and pay local vigilante for our security. They want to tax people like residents of Zamfara who already paid their taxes to Bello Turji. Or maybe we pay taxes and another Bello from Kogi uses it to pay for several years of his own children's school fees.

Maybe this is the final push and I'm all for it. The government has toyed with everything its citizens hold dear without resistance. Maybe now that they want to toy with our money, they can finally get what they have been asking for. Nigeria is due for a hard reset.

It is an unfortunate situation but my only worry is how we have conveniently miss the elephant in the room: Nigerian democracy! With Buhari, most people thought because he was Fulani that is why he is soft on these bastards but let's not forget we saw this same trend during Jonathan, when he was forced to drop General Azubuike due to his second term ambition. Tinubu is towing the same path currently. Even Obasanjo went to war in Zaki Biam and Odi but allowed a parallel judicial system all because of his second term ambition, which in part has a hand in our current situation.

The truth is, if Nigeria is still practicing democracy and the Fulanis as we have come to know are the major perpetrators, insecurity is not going away anytime soon. Not because they have the number, but because they have a very strong influence on the Northern region and its people. In fact, currently, more than 85% of the Norhern traditional and political leaders are of the Fulani stock.

Democracy will always ensure the presidents/elected leaders panders to their voting block/where their votes will come from, as against taking decisive actions in the interest of the entire country.

A critical flaw in Nigeria democracy, is allowing just about anyone (mostly people who have nothing to protect and/or lose) to vote and be voted for. In my opinion, only people who have proves of having contributed to the country in measurable ways (civil servants, military service, employers of labor, tax payers, etc) should have the right to vote. American democracy is working because majority of their voters have a stake in the country (at the very least, as taxpayers) and knows that their votes have consequences. The problem is, Nigeria only just copied the American democratic system in its entirety, without considering our peculiarities or putting our own touch.

The dead man doesn't know the cost of foolishness. The American society will have to deal with the aftermath because if a family of just three kids can produce one black sheep, then imagine a man with 25 kids.

One of the things I'm most grateful for is that my parents kept it manageable. With just four of us, at one point there was one who nearly joined a cult and another almost eloped with a man. What saved the day was that we were four, which gave my mum the opportunity to be in the know and act in time.

As usual, the common theme: security companies hiring misfits without military/paramilitary backgrounds and without background checks, while the government pretends like this is normal. Very unfortunate because these are preventable deaths. Nigeria failed another of its citizens. A country (I don't even know if we actually are) where anything goes.

These ex-corpers didn’t started it, though. NYSC created this situation when they allowed female corp members to wear hijab. Nothing should've been allowed to be added to that uniform.

My sisters who have never wore trousers all their lives did because of NYSC and so several thousands of other Nigerians. Trousers was against their religious belief, yet they wore it, not because they were stupid, don't love their religion enough, or don't know how to fight for their right. They did because they respected the laws of Nigeria and understand that Nigeria must always come first.

NYSC can appeal, but they will most likely lose, except they can withdraw the wearing of hijab rights that muslim female corp members currently enjoy. These ex-corpers are citing their religious beliefs, being the exact same religious belief that Muslim female corpers cited when making demands for the wearing of hijab, which NYSC allowed.

The skirt will eventually turn to mini skirt. Let the traditionalists also make their own demands. It is what you get when you think too highly of yourselves you start asking for special treatments; or think people of other faiths who had wore the official uniform for several decades without complaints - despite it may conflict with their beliefs - are stupid.

Institutions and organisations are usually kept as neutral as possible for a reason, and it is time for us to find out why.

If they're not killing their members like Ayo Daramola and Funsho Williams, they're poisoning them like Wike and Sen. Rafiu. It is a PDP thing.
