Again you can't place the entire blame on teachers. Students fail due to many reasons.The school which a teacher was killed wasn't mentioned as the best performer in previous years.And,worse it it all,the teacher killed wasn't a headmaster. Clearly, the parents were just dumb as their kids.
A quick look at the world's best education performers will reveal many stuff which most of African nations fail to implement. Look at south Korea which does very well on education,you will not hear a parents killing teachers due to bad results.

South Korean kids have long daily schooling hours,
They have better infrastructure, a good ratio of teacher to pupils,uncrowded classrooms, very disciplined kids,they use their mother tongue,less corruption, well paid teachers,and et cetera.

Now are schools in Kenya doing what Koreans do?

You can't place all students failure on teachers.There are many reasons why students fails,yes it includes bad teachers but it is not all about that.You have to consider other stuff..
Poor upbringing of children ( undisciplined kids)
Poverty or let's say starvation ( children can't learn while hungry)
Low salaries and incentives to teachers
Overcrowded classes( a ratio of teachers to learners)
Some kids were born dumb,just dumb!
