rayopt:Don't deal with new accounts without escrow, especially when they have no long reputation or history of successful and honest trades. The account was opened on 21st December. Although I have little cause to approach those new accounts for any trades, I normally look at every new account suddenly trading all funds or some funds with suspicion. 2 Likes |

Civetcat:How do you produce more when farmers and farms aren't safe? Do you think the minister will produce the food by himself? A lot of the agrarian villages have been sacked by armed herders who kill our people for sports. |
Foreign Affairs / Re: US Plans To Station Nuclear Weapons In UK As Threat Of WW3 With Russia Increases by samsard(m): 3:30pm On Jan 31 |
Armaggedon:You really are incredibly stupid if you don't know what nuclear war entails and if you think you're just going to be an unaffected spectator. This is not pre-colonial times. There are sophisticated weapons capable of sending all of the planet into a nuclear ice age if only the US and Russia detonate a fraction of their weapons. Like I said earlier, you're probably incredibly stupid if you think this is conventional disaster. You also have to be incredibly callous/wicked to want that level of destruction because you don't like a group of people. |
Business / Re: Dangote Refinery To Import Crude Oil From The United States by samsard(m): 11:21am On Jan 30 |
Available9:You're still talking sentiments. Firstly, the 50% forex figure is imaginary. Until recently the government gave forex to companies that needed to bring tooling and equipment from abroad, and Dangote is not the only beneficiary. It's to encourage local manufacturing and job creation. Also, a lot of Dangote refinery's cost is funded with foreign loans and investments from outsiders. The stake the Federal Government has through the NNPC is on the promise of crude oil supplies amounting to some millions of barrels of crude supply. Nigeria has pledged a lot of its current crude production in forex forwards. That means that if we're producing say a million barrels a day we essentially only have access to say 700k barrels because the rest is promised as debt payment for foreign loans. We are not able to achieve peak crude production now because of crude oil theft and other factors and part of the available production is basically paying off debt. |
Business / Re: Dangote Refinery To Import Crude Oil From The United States by samsard(m): 10:12am On Jan 30 |
Available9:Some of you people comment and reason with sentiments without looking at all the fundamentals that are wrong with our country in terms of oil production and refining. |
Business / Re: Dangote Refinery To Import Crude Oil From The United States by samsard(m): 10:10am On Jan 30 |
Slayar:Dangote is a private business though. Nigerian has dedicated large chunks of its production to repaying debts it took on the promise of oil production. Our crude alone cannot service Dangote refinery at this time because the government has obligations to meet. 1 Like |

Car Talk / Re: Automatic Transmission And Gear Repairs In Nigeria by samsard(m): 5:59am On Jan 28 |
Hello, guys. Please my 2002 RAV4 revvs at about 4000rpms at about 100km/h or 60mph. I did some research and I learnt it should be around 2500rpm at 100km/h. Even to a novice like me I can tell it shouldn't be revving that high at that speed because it makes a noticeable sound. What could be the issue please? |

Wemoveee:I come to this section to read posts mostly about vacancies because I don't know when I'll need the information here. I have known this thread since like 2020 & until recently I only commented once or twice & deleted it because the information relates to people who know me by my Nairaland username. Unless you're my personal person you won't have an idea how much I earn. Plus I feed my wife with any useful information here since she won't listen to me and & actively check by herself. I do my business on the Business section. If some of us wanted to brag about high earners, we could brag all day because I do business with some of them & I'm friends/relatives with some, fortunately. I don't depend on anyone even if you're x10 earner, so even mentioning them adds nothing other than context. You can earn above average and be depressed if it can't fund the lifestyle you're used to, even if people think you're okay. 1 Like |

Wemoveee:Please get the f*ck out, Mr. Proud Under sabi. If you aren't dumb you'd know people actively seek out opportunities even when they earn relatively well. My cousin has worked with a good number of the international NGOs in this country as a consultant or documentary photographer and he tells us he's always applying for things despite that relative success. You undersabi people think 350k is enough to be content and stop seeking new opportunities. 1 Like |

Aleksandra:LMAO. I'm no government worker though, but if you people find 350k so hard to believe, what if I told you someone's earning at least 4.8m monthly working remotely for a foreign organization as a young person? Some people would consider 350k their own struggle money. I won't mention mine though although I'm by no means rich and some people know me on Nairaland. |

tsdarkside:Dont display your ignorance of economics in public. The US dollar is the global currency for trade. When companies invest, operate and generate revenues and profits they'll repatriate that profit in USD. China has a lot of European and American companies who set up there and it works. If we weren't irresponsible losing valuable FX to corruption and fuel subsidy/importation we would be able to settle FX obligations like every country does and they'll keep their valuable service here. 21 Likes |
