Celebrities / Re: "Nigerians Suffering But Leaders Sending Money To Themselves" – Mr Macaroni by samsard(m): 7:44pm On Aug 09, 2023 |
Berrityga:Some of you people are pathetic with tribalism in everything that should be objective. I watch his skits and I don't understand Yoruba. What's wrong if he promotes his language and people with his art? And oh, he has had mama G and other people as guests on his video. If I was a creative I would feature as many of my people as are qualified. Get a life before dropping pointless criticism. |

IconicR:Park well abeg. He has over 800k subscribers on YouTube and frequently gets over 100k views per video. With that kind of subscriber base, he shouldn't be making less than $10k-$20k a month from YouTube Adsense alone. |

Politics / Re: "We must unite & defend Nigeria": Okupe urges Support For Tinubu on Niger crisis by samsard(m): 7:43pm On Aug 04, 2023 |
spiSeyi:If you weren't dumb you'd understand this is not the first coup in Africa. Do you have family members in the army you're willing to sacrifice on the alter of brute force? Hole you'll join the army to fight? If you weren't shortsighted you'd realise that if you destabilise your neighbour terrorists and several rebel groups will take hold? Do you understand that some of our security issues was because Libya was destabilised and several armed groups sprung up? Arms have been leaking from Libya to West African countries ever since. You should get yourself checked if you're supporting war mongering like we are America. 1 Like |

ThatCEO:The pack of bandits you're talking about is literally thousands of well armed fighters in large forests and expanse of land in several northern states. You people should have learned from the US army in Afghanistan that winning what is essentially a guerrilla warfare is not as easy as it sounds. Be it a democracy or a military regime the economic dynamics right now are different than 30-50+ years ago. Asides the political turbulence every time there was another coup, which my mom had to endure, a military administration in these times will likely draw a lot of sanctions and even further stall progress. |

Rich4god:You people praying for authoritarian rules because the current administration favors you. In an already corrupt government system you want to add absolute power? Lack of wisdom. There's the proverb about the forest saying the axe was one of them until it cut down everyone. Freedom of speech is an essential tenet of modern democracy. You cannot stop people from talking simply because you don't like what they say. 1 Like |

Foreign Affairs / Re: Niger Coup Leaders Prohibit Citizens From Using Social Media by samsard(m): 10:28am On Jul 31, 2023 |
Beverlyjean:Given the kind of bitter statements I see on Nairaland daily DSS would have arrested a quarter of Nairalander if they decided to act on it. We do in fact have a good deal of freedom of speech. Go on Twitter and see people. Freedom of speech anywhere is not an excuse for hateful speech yet a lot of it on social media in Nigeria goes without consequence. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Family / Re: Why Do Nigerian Parents See Pidgin English As "Bad English"? by samsard(m): 6:08am On Jul 27, 2023 |
illicit:I'd be more interested in ensuring kids speak many languages fluently than focus solely on English. Some parents apply the same logic even with their own languages. If kids read well enough, sometimes watch TV programmes in proper English & use it adequately in the right contexts, it'll definitely help them master English & each language with minimal language interference. |
Family / Re: Why Do Nigerian Parents See Pidgin English As "Bad English"? by samsard(m): 8:45pm On Jul 26, 2023 |
illicit:Most of my cousins speak pristine English when they want and they still speak pidgin fluently. This is nothing but faux elitism. We are capable of speaking more than one language properly. |

Sports / Re: Kylian Mbappe: PSG Accepts Al Hilal's £259m For Wantaway French Forward by samsard(m): 8:33pm On Jul 24, 2023 |
Benwallt:Messi is earning over a 100 million dollars annually. Abeg how many people earn that much? PSG wants to either force Mbappe to stay or they squeeze out a fat transfer fee for whoever is willing to pay. They don't want to let him go for free or cheap. It's a toxic relationship at this point. |
Politics / Re: Subsidy: ‘Endure, Tinubu Repositioning The Country’ – Keyamo Tells Nigerians by samsard(m): 11:38pm On Jul 22, 2023 |
Acekidc4:LMAO. For a while? It only gets expensive from here. Please don't cite local refinery as solution to bring cheap fuel. Petrol will remain expensive because crude is sold at international prices. We're headed down inflation & high cost of living. If the naira loses value Petrol will increase even more. Tinubu has already achieved his explicit goal of reducing purchasing power. 1 Like |
Politics / Re: Video Of Tinubu Campaigning To Crash Fuel Price Goes Viral Amid Hike by samsard(m): 6:01pm On Jul 20, 2023 |
AsomughaChuks05:LMAO. You sound ridiculous with this false hope, please. Petrol will not sell at 200 or lower unless crude oil price crashes by maybe 70% or naira appreciates to 200/$, which is impossible. Dangote will buy crude at international prices when he starts refining, so maybe slightly cheaper but still expensive nonetheless. When the person in power was from a minority tribe, people collaborated to give him bad press about removing subsidy. Now everyone's quiet and accepting the suffering. Did Nigerians trust Buhari when he increased pump price? It's just a matter of accepting suffering as a norm. 7 Likes 1 Share |

TemplarLandry:You people have no idea that it's an awful idea for a country that is in dire need of foreign investments. The moment you start to nationalize assets belonging to foreign nationalities, the little FDI coming in will dry permanently and we will make zero progress. Right now we need billions of dollars in FDI annually to make progress. Everyone with a populist idea on social media sounds like a great economist on paper until things backfire. It's like the fuel subsidy issue and printing of money that will drive us to hyperinflation. |

TOBILOBA2023:Nigerian mentality. I heard people in the UK prefer WhatsApp calls and in the US there's some level of preference for VOIP calls using iPhone. It's the same mindset with babes sometimes where they think you're unserious because of WhatsApp calls. 8 Likes 1 Share |
