You're incorrigible - how would you compare if we didn't use USD? What is a Naira trillion - definitely not a KSHS trillion -1kshs is worth 3.57 Naira as of today.

Your federal budget is equivalent to 28B USD (Dec 2017) - Kenya national budget was 26B (June 2017) and is set to grow to 29B in June 2018.

Your state budget is equivalent to 25BUSD (9 trillion Naira) - but 6 trillion is from the federal allocation - so the extra that state collect as their own revenue is 3 trillion Naira. - 8 B usd.

So give and take - total Nigeria budget is 28(federal)+8B=36B USD - for the GIANT.

Kenya 47 devolved counties - collect their own revenue (they are not federal - so mostly fees and rates) - total of about 1B USD - add that to kenya 29B - and you have 30B.

Nigeria (federal+state);36B USD. Kenya(national+devolved) 30B. The GIANT indeeed.

And for reference check south africa budget - federal and provincial - and just know NIGERIA is not a giant of anything...serious.

And while at it - building new cities to escape current problems in old cities - Eko City that is - can you please add some green to that ugly concrete jungle. This especially as they wait for another skyscrapper to be constructed - trees and grass could be growing. Nairobi is magnet because it has 2) huge forests and of course the only national park in city in the world where animals roam freely (not a zoo!) in huge plain and lots of greenery. That make people want to visit or live in Nairobi

If kenya merged it 45 banks to 18 banks like Nigeria did in 2010 or like South Africa's 4 - then we would have similarly have mega banks. Not that we don't have - some of the most profitable banks in Africa are in Kenya - Equity & KCB for one.

Nigeria merged banks is deluding you otherwise Kenya can ran so many circles around Nigeria in the financial and intermediation sectors - let not even talk about SACCOS where kenya led Africa or M-pesa (mobile payments). Or how do you think Kenya has grown without OIL or Diamond or Gold - like most African countries.

Obviously Kenyan banks are not collapsing and there is no need to merge them.

Ethiopia - with Addis & Tanzania - with Dar - are definitely growing and will provide competition to Kenya & Nairobi. That I can't deny. But Kinshasa, Kampala, Lagos are dead as dodo.

U realize with Lagos having a bigger economy than ur country, there’s far more potential in Lagos than Nairobi(although I see Nairobi as a future hub). Lagos will catch up. Eko Atlantic alone(apart from the other cities in construction in Lagos) will house more than 1000 scrapers. As u saw eko Atlantic is virtually empty, let’s wait till Eko Atlantic grows(next 10 yrs). In 2030, Nigeria’s economy is expected to exceed 1 trillion. Kenyan and Nigerian comparisons wouldn’t make sense then(that’s if we solve some of our issues)

With the growth of Ethiopia, it poses some strong competition to Kenya in the future...

If you GDP is 400-500B - what is 1B dollars - I mean kenya has about 75-80B USD GDP - budget now nearly 30B per annum - and nobody talks about 1B usd! That is pocket change. Kenyatta family alone are planning 50B USD city on their private land.

PLEASE SHOW US MEGA PROJECT OF SAY 200B USD - that would really shows how ambitious Nigeria can be? I mean Kenya don't even shout about 500m usd project. Cooked fake GDP cannot and will not provide you with regular supply of electricity or water or sewage or even internet. In all aspects Nairobi beat Lagos. The same way Kenya beat Nigeria. Except in "GDP" that simply don't make much senses to me.

Lagos is also planning to have 3,000 mw that is 24 hrs, uninterrupted power for its citizens in the next 5 years- hopefully, other states follow its lead.

As Nigerians, one of the characteristics that define us is our sense of optimism. When you're at Nigeria's level, the only way to go is up. Currently, we're building new smart cities from scratch to challenge the best cities in the world. Nigeria has some of the richest people on the continent. Our entertainment industry(movies and music) currently also dominates the continent. We currently have a booming tech sector. Nigerian companies are all over the continent. We supply aid to our west African brothers when they're in need.We're currently in the process of diversifying our economy away from oil. And we have the largest economy in Africa.

Despite our enormous challenges, we've made some big wins. Now imagine if Nigeria had a more functional government across all tiers. Hopefully, we'll get there.
