Education / How To Take Note Effectively In The Classroom by Samstyle(m): 5:19pm On Sep 08, 2018
Note taking in the classroom one of those strenuous exercises students must engage themselves in, to excel in education. This is apparently because, how a student take note in the classroom, may inversely determine how he/she will prepare for examination.

EFFECTIVE NOTE-TAKING IN THE CLASSROOM
In this article, I will be discussing those tips or guides to take note effectively in the classroom. This, will help a lot of students out there, to improve in their writing and listening skill. So, how can one take note effectively note taking in the classroom?

HOW TO TAKE NOTE EFFECTIVELY IN THE CLASSROOM

Below are guides for effective note-taking in the classroom:

1. Come to class early.
2. Keep your writing materials nearby.
3. Be present minded.
4. Use abbreviations.
5. Listen carefully.
6. Note only essential points.

Yeah, those are the guides for effective note taking in the classroom. Meanwhile, in other to paint a clearer picture of these guides, I will buttress on each of them in the following section. So, here we go!

Come to class early:

It is probably impossible to take note effectively in the classroom, when you don’t come to class early. Coming to class early helps to give you a time of respite before the lecture begins. And this is very pertinent, cause it enables your brain to relax and function effectively.

Coupled with the above advantage, coming to class early also help to make sure that you don’t miss important parts of the message passed in the class. So you see, coming to class early is really a useful guide for effective note taking in the classroom.

Keep your writing materials nearby:

This may obviously look trivial and unimportant, but I must let you know that you can not possibly improve your note taking skill except you learn to always keep your writing materials nearby. I personally recommend that you get your writing materials ready even before the speaker comes in, because you may not be able to do that when the speaker eventually comes. Even if you manage to get ready at that crucial time when the speaker is in the classroom, you may have missed something important. Thus, this point is very essential for effective note taking in the classroom.

Be present minded:

This is another important point i must emphasize on in this article. Being present minded is a “must do” for effective note taking in the classroom. Before the speaker or teacher starts speaking, you must forget about every other thing, and focus on what the speaker is asserting. Without this, it will be very difficult, if not impossible for a student to take note effectively in the classroom.

So, if you really want to improve your note taking skill, you must learn to be always present minded in the classroom.

Use abbreviations:

Abbreviations are inevitable in note taking. They go a long way in helping a student improve his or her note taking skill. It is pertinent to note that note taking can be made vastly easy, if one has a good knowledge of abbreviations. This is apparently because, when using abbreviations, a person do not necessarily have to write down full words as they are supposed. Words are made shorter and easier to understand. And by so doing, one can write faster.

Listen carefully:

Inversely, for a student to take note effectively in the classroom, he or she must have good listening skill. Without a good listening skill, one may not be able to hear what the speaker is saying. This is why listening is a foundation for every other guides in this article. One can not take down anything in the classroom without listening. So for you to improve your note taking skill, you must learn to pay attention and listen assiduously in the classroom.

Note only essential points:

During note taking, one is note expected to write down all that the speaker is saying. Only important messages, are to be noted. Many students thinks that note taking, has to do with writing everything that is said by a speaker. This is note true because, the speaker may sometimes digress in his speech. He may start-up a joke, or something irrelevant to the topic at hand. Thus, it is advisable to only take note of those sentences that are important to you when taking note in the classroom. This will help to save your time and energy.

Education / Important Guides To Help You Pass The Ongoing 2018 JAMB Examination by Samstyle(m): 5:31am On Mar 10, 2018
So, if you really want to score 250 and even above in JAMB examination, without sending any kobo to anybody, then here is a great guild to help you do that.

• DEMISE YOUR FEAR/TENSION

One important fact, many Jamb candidate don't know is that, any examination writing in fear/tension, is already a failed one. If you really want to make a good and reasonable grade in JAMB examination, then you must first of all, nullify your fear and tension. I am very much aware, how great and strong your tension is. Especially, now that the examination is fast approaching. But you must learn to end that tension and fear. Tell yourself that you must pass the examination no matter what. Increase your ambitiousness for success, and promise yourself not to fail. If you have successfully done this, you are already halfway to your success.

• PREPARE A STUDY TIMETABLE

Just as I wrote in one of my articles on "how to pass WAEC examination" it is very key, to create a reading timetable in cases like this. Apparently, all JAMB candidates are expected to take four(4) subjects in JAMB examination, and as so, it is important to make sure, that your timetable cover all your four subject, each day (Giving each subject at least 2hours everyday). However, this should also depend on the time you have left before the examination. Most of you are only reading this, just few weeks to your examination. But that notwithstanding, no time is too late. You can still make it if you are really enthusiastic.

• READ ASSIDUOUSLY

When you must have finished constructing a reading timetable that suits your schedule, then it now time to start a voracious reading. Note that you don't read for JAMB, the same way you read for other examination, since JAMB is strictly a CBT (Computer Based Test), with objective question only. I recommend you read for understanding, and to grab main ideas in all your topics. This is because JAMB questions are often aimed at knowing if a candidate has an in depth knowledge of a topic.

• STUDY PAST QUESTIONS

I have been able to go through many JAMB questions of the past, and one of the important things I found, was that JAMB often repeat its question (students who have written JAMB before can attest of this). Sometimes, the new questions JAMB ask, are only 20%, and the rest will come from the previously asked ones. More so, it is also important to read your textbooks and your notebook for more comprehensive detail on some unintelligible topics.

• PREDICT YOUR SCORE

Predicting your score even before your examination is also an important tip, though not a must. Predicting your score before examination help to foster your ambitiousness, and forces you to read harder in other to achieve your predicted score.

• PLAN YOUR SUBJECTS

When I say plan your subjects, I mean you should before your examination date, arrange your subjects in the way you will love to attend to them (the way that suits you). JAMB is a CBT (Computer Based Test), with limited time for candidates to answer its questions. Therefore it is very important to plan your subjects, as this will help you save more time, and reduce the chance of you getting confused.

• INVITE GOD

Inviting God to help you through is another inevitable tip to make a good JAMB result. Over the years, it has been reported that many candidates fail JAMB examination because of some unprecedented factors that wasn't their fault. E.g electricity failure, wrong questions etc. There are many unforeseen errors that can take place during JAMB examination, and are capable of causing you great damages. This is the main reason why you need God to guide you through.

OTHER IMPORTANT TIPS FOR SUCCESS

- Try to familiarise yourself with your center before the stipulated date for the examination. Make sure you appear at your exam center 1hour before your exams starts. This will help you reduce fear/tension.

- Finally make sure you are not mentally stressed before your examination date. I know many candidates will not want to even think about sleeping the night before their examination date. But believe me, this can make you mentally disordered, thus making it impossible for you to even understand questions in the hall. So, please make sure you are well relaxed, and possibly refresh your memory when you wake up.

Webmasters / Tutorial On How To Set Up A Blogger Blog For Beginners by Samstyle(m): 9:57pm On Jan 20, 2018
If you have been looking for a comprehensive detail on how you can start up a blogger blog for yourself, and equally earn from it, then search no further, because you are actually reading the right tutorial, to help you do that.

In this tutorial, i will explicitly explain what a blog is, the probs/cons of having a blog, how to choose your blog niche and lastly, how to create your blogger blog. So, I enjoin you to read assiduously, and enjoy the tutorial.

OK let's get started.

how to start up a blog, blogger blog, blogger tutorial, blogger blogging, create a blogger blog, create a blog

WHAT IS A BLOG?

A blog is simply a website published on the World Wide Web, to meet the need of its readers, and is meant to be consistently updated by the blog owner/writer.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES/DISADVANTAGES OF BEING A BLOGGER?

Being a blogger is one of the most stupendous job for enthusiastic educated persons, who loves writing; and will wants to earn from it as well.

Below are some of the advantages of being a blogger:

• It earns you good cash
• It gives you great prestige
• It diversifies your knowledge
• It makes you very popular
• It gives you the opportunity to teach others.

However, blogging also has one disadvantage; which I think is the core reason why many people always jettison the idea of blogging. And this is nothing else but the fact that blogging is too strenuous and debilitating. Although, I still believe that, one's choice of niche can reduce the stress he will incur in his blogging career.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR BLOG NICHE?

Before we discuss on choosing the right niche for your blog, it is important to really know what a niche is. A niche is a blogging term which means, the category/aspect a blogger is writing on E.g A blogger can be writing on Technology, Tutorial, News, Education, Health, Motivation, Sport etc.

Now that you know what a niche is, what are the determining factor when choosing a blog niche?

Sometimes people go into blogging, without having the right niche in mind. Thus, making it impossible to grow their blog, or even getting them stranded later. This is why it is important to choose a niche that suits you.

Below are some core things to put to consideration, before blogging on any niche.

• Your Passion: This is the core determining factor, when choosing a niche for your blog. If you sidestep passion when choosing your blog niche, then believe me, you will wake up one day, not knowing what to publish and ending up copying other blogs.

• Time Needed: Choose a niche that correspondence with the time you will want to spend blogging. Some blog niche can be too strenuous, E.g News. To go into news blogging, you must prepare to spend almost the 24 hours of the day blogging, else you will be outdated and overruled by your competitors. This is why almost all news blogs, are managed by group of people. So make sure you can afford for the time needed to manage your blog niche, except you have a partner.

• Your Plan/Aim: Don't choose a niche, because you see many people going into that niche. Make sure you have an exceptional plan for your blog niche. Don't do what others are doing, have your own style. Have a dream for your blog, and work towards achieving that.

If you have chosen your blog niche, then you can join me, as we create your blogger blog together.

HOW TO START UP YOUR OWN BLOGGER BLOG

Starting up a blog isn't as debilitating as many people assume (if you have sufficient steps to guide you). To start up your own blog, you should have the following;

Education / Important Reasons Why You Don't Need A Boyfriend/girlfriend While In School by Samstyle(m): 6:44pm On Dec 26, 2017
Having a boyfriend/Girlfriend (being in a relationship) While in school, is prevalent among most Nigeria students. It is very difficult to find a mature student in Nigeria, who truly don't have a boyfriend or girlfriend, even from the secondary education level. Nevertheless, today I am going to explicitly explain, 6 reasons why you don't need a boyfriend/Girlfriend While in school.

So seat tight and let me take you through.

1. You Get Distracted:

There is no doubt that, the reason for most failure is schools today, is as a result of the concept of having boyfriend/girlfriend in schools. Students who are engaged in this act, finds it very debilitating to focus on their studies, as they would not only have to think for themselves, but their partners too. They spend much time on their relationships, than any other thing. And this, has lure them to failure. This is one of the main reasons why students are not encouraged to go in relationships while in school.

2. You Miss Classes:

This is also an uncontrollable disadvantage of being in a relationship while in school. However, when you ask some student, they will say, they can't leave school for any boyfriend/girlfriend, but this fact is uncontestable. One day, you will be conformed to do so, and after sometime, it becomes a regular tour. You may think, this is totally impossible, but it is just fact. So, if you don't want to Start missing classes, you had better jettison the idea of relationship in school.

3. You Might Get rusticated:

This is another essential reason why you shouldn't have a boyfriend/Girlfriend While in school. You might not be as lucky as those who have been in this game for many years, without any problem. What if you get a girl pregnant? I think it will be the end of your education. Parental obligations set in, and I am also very sure, you will regret that all your life time. It is important you stop this very act, except you want to be a victim of the above.

4. You Become Notorious:

This is very known in the secondary education level. When any student is engaged in this execrable act, he/she becomes very notorious, the whole school starts seeing such person as a negative influence, which they truly are. Parents start telling their children to totally isolate themselves from sure person, because it is not condone here in Nigeria. So, if you don't want people to know you as a negative influence, then stop the concept of boyfriend/girlfriend while in school.

5. To Much Pressure and Tension:

No student will want to look very dirty in front of his or her new relationship partner. And as so, they seem to be more cautious and tensed when they go out dressing abnormal or perhaps, doing that which they claimed they don't do to their partners.

If you want to live the most pressure-free school life, then desist from having a boyfriend/girlfriend while on school. You will kill your fear and tension in school.

Education / 6 Jobs That Will Fetch You Good Money In The University. by Samstyle(m): 9:08am On Dec 24, 2017
One of the most essential tip that can help a student live comfortably in school is, having a menial Job where little cash can be gotten from. if you have lived in any Nigeria institution before, I am sure you will be able tell, how helpful it is to have something doing in school. Today, I will share with you six menial Jobs, that can fetch you good money while in school. The jobs highlighted below have been carefully selected. And in fact, they are the most lucrative menial jobs for very student.

Now let’s get going!!

1. Designing and decoration:

With no doubt, decorating is one of the most profitable entrepreneurship job, that is fit for students. Any student with good skill in decoration and designing will at least, be able to eke out his daily bread thus, reducing the dependency rate on his/her parent. One other striking advantage of this entrepreneurship job is that, it is less demanding on student. It will never encroach on your study time, or stop you from doing all school activity, you ought to do.

2. Hair Dressing:

Today, hair dressing is no longer a Job for women. It is now a job for everyone. If you haven’t thought about hairdressing, then you must have been missing something out. Hair dressing is one of the most lucrative entrepreneurship job in the university. In fact, if you are very skilled in this aspect, it is possible that you totally sponsor yourself in school. The high test for fashion by many Nigeria students, has vastly made hair dressing the best and most lucrative menial job for student in Nigeria school.

3. Tailoring:

Just like hair dressing, tailoring is another venerable job for school students. Though, tailoring may demand much working materials, which might be out of a normal student’s capital. But this notwithstanding, tailoring can still be a source of good cash for students who want to live by themselves in school. All you need to do is to enrol in a training now, and be the best you can be, because there are much people doing this in school too.

4. Catering:

This might not be as lucrative as the other jobs I mentioned above, but without any doubt, it should also be a good choice of course for students who want to have something doing in school. Catering can fetch you good money if you are very good at it.

5. Blogging:

Blogging is an obscure job especially, here in Nigeria. it has to do with writing for others to read, learn or get information. On the other hand, you earn from advertising platforms. One important reason why I recommend blogging for students is because, the job conform you to learn more.

However, blogging is too stressful and might not be good choice for students, whose course of study is also stressful. So, before moving into blogging, you must make sure it doesn’t distract your schooling. Note that, you may have to go through good tutorials, before enrolling into blogging less, you stand to loose.

6. Photographing:

Photographing is another way to earn good money in school. Just like hairdressing, it is very profitable and less demanding. All you need for a start, is a camera, and at least a little knowledge of how the business works. It is also worthy to note that photographing is not as profitable as the other jobs I mentioned. But, It can also fetch you good cash if you are good at it.
