You are right... but like all whistle-blowers, he did it for "the good of the Society"........ which far outweighs any other consideration we might think of.

Just put yourself in the shoes of that man.... (even if you are a woman, just imagine that someone knew your husband has impregnated woman and was with her some days before you accepted his proposal for a wedding.... and did not inform you? ...or if you are the Mother of the man that is about to start life "being duped"!)
