Yes, criminal liability in marriage, when legally married there are some crimes you cannot commit against your spouse not just rape.
Wow!
That's good to know.

I'm a Lawyer and I can tell you as a fact that there is nothing like rape between two legally married persons..
The only exception is when such happens when the Court has granted a Decree of Judicial Separation and the man goes ahead to sleep with her without her consent.
Apart from that, no man can be convicted for rape against his lawfully married wife.
Don't mind what ignorant folks have been saying in this thread.
Thank you.
Crime / Re: My Husband Raped Me. by samuelpeters(m): 5:53am On Sep 15, 2022
I have asked this question severally. Even to barristers.

It is very hard to prove rape in marriage.

Education / Re: End In Sight For ASUU Strike As FG Reviews ‘No-work No-Pay’ Policy by samuelpeters(m): 7:01am On Sep 07, 2022
zicoraads:

You be olodo.

If Jonathan had settled it how? Have you even seen the agreement and what it entails?

It's an agreement that requires funding over years, not something that one government can solve in its tenure. It requires a commitment of funding spread across years.

The other one is for the FG to stop the creation of universities, especially state ones that are being created anyhow. Is that one too a Jonathan issue?

The IPPIS or UTAS matter, is that one too a Jonathan problem? Or you think it's about money and 'Settling ASUU?'

Blame the party in power, APC. And go read up on ASUU's grievances while you're at it.
The committee set-up to visit our universities came up with the recommendation and drafted what the university needed.

A 1 trillion naira is needed to revitalize our universities, for them to be on par with African universities and world universities at large.

The then government had an agreement with ASUU to pay 200 billion each year for 5 years, In order to cover the 1 trillion.

The then government paid the first year. But couldn't pay no more......till today!!!

Like I said; if GEJ implemented this 1 trillion naira revitalization which was the major issue in the 2009 agreement, we wouldn't be talking about that today.

It's 1.3 trillion now due to inflation and useless naira. angry

The is the vital issue.. other issues are Earned allowances, review of their renumeration, autonomy.

UTAS-IPPIS is a recent development.

Now, tell me, what is wrong with IPPIS that the university system cannot use it ? grin

The FG is still playing to the gallery. In 2017, they set up a committee that they abandoned. They set up another one again sometimes around 2020, then another one again this year. All these committees renegotiated the 2009 agreement and came up with a workable solution that ASUU had agreed to.

Now you're setting up another committee to review what the last committee recommended to you.

This is the 4th committee since Buhari came to power. It shows an absolute lack of political will.

Buhari is a curse upon this land. May his type never ever happen to these lands again.
A 2009 agreement could have been settled by 2013. If the then government had the political will you talked about so much.
APC wouldn't have inherited such agreement.

Stop blaming this government!!
APC government has its own mountain of failures, but this ASUU strike is not part of their failure.

Did it not sell the same thing for long periods during this administration? What did he do?
Stop arguing nonsense!!
APC and PDP are both useless as far as this ASUU issue is concerned.

If PDP had settled this thing, we wouldn't be talking about strike today.

GEJ a PhD holder, who they said was a Lecturer at UNIPORT for sometime, was in a better position to settle ASUU.
Since he had first hand experience of the rot in the university system, and what an average lecturer is facing.
But he did nothing!!

Now you want to blame APC?

I'm not supporting this shameless government. But when it comes to ASUU, PDP is to blame.
In the end, both are still useless!!

Back to the topic;
If FG shifts ground based on this "No work, No pay" policy, and ASUU calls off strike, then they(ASUU) just wasted everyone's time. Because I haven't seen anything FG has implemented that concerns ASUU.

They better fight it to the end, no be say next year, them go strike again.

He can take it higher and deploy similar abilities on the nation's vast space.

Vote PDP
PDP power to the people
Common shut it!
Yen, yen ,yen...

When it comes to our tertiary education, no government had/has done anything. Both APC and PDP.

Was Atiku not in power when ASUU went on strike 1999,2001,2002,2003,2004,2005,2006 and 2007??

Oh, now he has the solution to our problem.

When it comes to ASUU matter, no government has been sincere with our tertiary institutions.

maryjames9:
Yes nothing will happen except the same template where Registrar will be asked to send directives for branch ASUU to call off strikes and resume immediately. Many will not resume not because they are not tired of the strike but because of fear of being blackmailed and sanctioned by ASUU. Some will return to work, lots of young lecturers will while the Older ones will not. Those who resume duty will be instructed to sign registers daily at Registry Departments of Admin Buildings.

Then, those who sign attendance will be paid salaries and hopefully backlogs of withheld salaries while using no work no pay on those who don't resume. Then, there will be mass recruitment to fill the vacant positions with jobless PHD and MSc holders looking for jobs.

Meanwhile, some Lecturers have decided to sign attendance and not attend classes until their "demands" are met by FG. Na God save the Nigerian students.
This is not possible Sha.

Do you know why ASUU is very strong? You can't replace them. Since you also agreed only young lecturers would resume, the older ones who are mostly professors and top senior lecturers won't.
You now want to replace professors with PhD holders grin
Just like NMA, you can't sack them and replace them anyhow.

But they pay dormant refinery staff members right and that won't encourage industrial idleness.
Dormant staff members is different from striking staff members.

The former is not doing anything because their industry/place of work is not functional. While the latter decided to stop providing tertiary educational services.

I get your point. But if they pay them, what about students? Who will compensate them for wasted time.

I still believe ASUU and FG are not sincere. Both do not want to shift ground.

But ASUU should have called off the strike, and start negotiation with the incoming government that would have atleast more than 4 years to implement their demands.

FG should not pay them shi shi. Atleast make them feel wetin students de feel.

Waahaala dey this country oOoOO
This ASUU sometimes I think they are greedy beyond redemption. Most of them in this ASUU body are members of the Non Academic Staffs (NASU) and members of other organizational body in the university system. Like HODs and Dean of faculties find themselves in this circle. Most of them lecture more than one or two universities at a time.

Chop here chop there and dem never satisfied.
Everybody just wan cashout

Note: I'm not against their agitations.
Yes Nigerian/Mohammadu Buhari government has failed.
Nigerian universities are not properly funded.

But.........
grin
ASUU should go and rest. If they fail to call off this strike, they will be under pressure. Other unions like NASU,SSANU and NAAT that decided to call off theirs for 2 months inorder for FG to implement whatever agreement they had are not fools.

Useless union!!

If Universities are still shut and campaign starts, any APC politician weh come my side I go stone am to death. Useless fools!!

On a side note;
I wonder why state universities are on strike. All state universities should pull out from ASUU and form their union. Academic Staff Union of State Universities (ASUSU).
