Education / Re: I Regret Graduating With A First Class - Nigerian Lady Says by samuelpeters(m): 8:10pm On Nov 12, 2023
It doesn't mean she should regret anything.

First class/BGS and her department didn't see any reason to retain her?

Is she that unemployable.

The OP is right to feel betrayed. What stops the so called friend from telling him. If the friend really values him.

Personally, I don't call anybody "Friend" until I have seen some level of commitment and trust in the friendship.

OP, just congratulate him and move on. You guys can still be friends but don't let him in on everything going on with you again.

Education / Re: Indian Vs Nigerian University Grading System by samuelpeters(m): 7:17am On Aug 05, 2023
MrsTwrite:

I know everything about the grading system sir, I graduated with a second class upper. The bad side of graduating with good result here in Nigeria is that, once you're seeking for employment, these so called managers, after screening and interviewing you, might just decide to ghost you simply because they cannot see you taking thier positions.
A graduate with a good result really find it hard to get a good job.
Unlike the western world, they're blessed with sense, they appreciate good things.
I don't entirely support the idea that employers are afraid of graduates that know their onion.

Having a good result is one thing. Knowing the field and what it's all about is another thing.
Education / Re: Indian Vs Nigerian University Grading System by samuelpeters(m): 7:13am On Aug 05, 2023
Acidosis:

Beyond getting jobs, the grading system also helps them mentally.

The second class thing sounds like "slavery". Imagine someone saying that you're a second class citizen and you carry that certificate (mentality) everywhere you go.

Then imagine defining a 3.49 CGPA as "second class" "LOWER". The degree will mess with your mentality at some point. Is it even fair? 3.49/5.00 is 69%. So a man who scores a cumulative 69% at the end of a four year programme is a second class lower citizen of the university? Pathetic!
I feel borderline CGPA like 4.49,3.49,2.49 e.t.c. should be adjusted to the next class of degree.

It's really crazy graduating with this kind of CGPA.
Education / Re: What Does Bsc. (hons) Means? by samuelpeters(m): 6:27am On Jun 27, 2023
Honours means you graduated with either first class, 2.1 or 2.2.
Also, honours is added to our degree because it is compulsory to complete our undergraduate with a research work.

In some countries, you can graduate without honours if you didn't complete your degree with a research work.

This is the much I know.

Education / Re: Students’ Loan: FG To Introduce Tuition Fees In Universities by samuelpeters(m): 11:56pm On Jun 14, 2023
chukel:
you dont know what tuition fee is, even as a graduate. It's disgraceful. Go and bring out your receipt. You will see tuition, zero naira. Then u will see all other levies charged by ur school and not FG. Levies like accommodation fee, exam fee, development levy and all sorts of nonsense the schools charge which ends up as the school's IGR. FG gets nothing cos the tuition (main school fees) is zero.
I'm really surprised students/graduates don't know these things.
It's really shameful.

NLegendforte:

Oga do your research well. Are you educating me on this stuff? Sch fees include many fees and charges from school which you pay at once or by instalment. Medical school pay the highest followed by other professional programs
You don't pay tuition in federal universities.
What you pay are service charges.
Romance / Re: Do You Still remember the name of this thing? by samuelpeters(m): 11:36pm On May 27, 2023
Desktop charger.
Omo I really enjoyed it.
How time flies.

That charger was important when you want to revive your battery.
It was also important when you want to charge at public places. Better they steal your desktop charger than your phone.

Again...most people de use atleast two batteries. So if one de phone, the other go de charge with desktop charger.

I took the recent utme and had a very high score but am confused about the course to pick between pharmacy, nursing and dentistry

I don't want to make mistake in choosing a course

Please I need your advice
Those three courses are great.
Everything depends on what you want to do after school.
If you plan to japa, Nursing will make it easier for you.

If you want to stay here...I would advice Pharmacy if you are a guy. You will make a lot of money as a male pharmacist with a good hustling spirit oh...

Anatomy do not have much to contribute in Nigeria. This is the bitter truth about these courses.

You can start gaining ground when you move further to MSc and PhD.
BSc Anatomy cannot do much for you.

The bible say as a husband you should love your wife
And give your life as Jesus Christ gave his life for the church

So be more loving as you saw her
Well, everybody with their beliefs.

You are assuming too much.

My Life's view are basically from the Scriptures and my experiences not what one Pastors/Clergy/Clerics says. If it conforms to what the Scriptures says and I can verify with my own experience, then all good.

If not, they are just hot air. Water at the back of a Duck!
Okay.

Which scripture are you quoting tonlay claim that the wife has to submit to your faith or denomination
Hehehehe...
Did I quote any scripture?
If we said that; the woman should submit. Then a Man's faith and believe is part of what makes the man. A woman can't claim she wants to be with the Man and hates his church or believe. Infact attending another church is a great dishonour to the Man.

In All, Your church and believe has influence in your life. Something as simple as the way we pray is influenced by the church we attend.

If ever I decide to attend a Church, my views about life will be from the Scriptures and not what my Church think.

Also, the Husband Church could be preaching wrong doctrines and also wrong views about life, so why would/should the wife follow him to his own church?
Whether you like it or not, your church influence how you view and Interprete the word of God. Except you just a church goer.

If she doesn't like my view, there's no marriage.
Religion / Re: Disobedience To Husband And Issue Of Attending Different Churches by samuelpeters(m): 1:00pm On Apr 16, 2023
baralatie:

It is the same way the other side
The church she attended is what made her the way she is
If you cannot leave you church to attend her church for love
Leave her for her husband
Sure I will.

This shouldn't be a problem in marriage.
Because that marriage isn't supposed to start if there's no agreement between both of them.

After leaving her father's house, her village, everything about her but she can't leave her church?

Are we now saying wives should only submit to her husband in some aspects?

If you love your wife you will love her church views and you will contribute vtobher church development
The man is the head of the house. She can't submit to everything except my faith or denomination.

Does it matter? Is it not same Jesus that is being preached in those other Churches?

And how do you know that the Husband's Church preach the RIGHT DOCTRINES?
I hope you know your church and believe system has influence on how you view life?

If she loves the way you view life, she should know your church also contributed to it.
Religion / Re: Disobedience To Husband And Issue Of Attending Different Churches by samuelpeters(m): 12:48pm On Apr 16, 2023
Personally, I see this as something that should be discussed before one tie the knot. Some of our GFs turned wives do not want to change their church or believe that the husband will join them in their churches.

I always discuss this with any woman. If you love me, and you want me, then you should also know that my belief and faith are part of what made me who I am that you have come to love. I can't change my church for you, and you can't continue to attend yours while answering my name, living in my house et al.

If you can't accept my church then the marriage would end before it begins.

It will not have much effect. Try and improve in other areas like leadership, humanitarian services, research et al. This would help boast your overall profile as a Scientist.

Graduating with Second Class Lower as a Medical Laboratory... How Bad is it?
It's not that bad. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, your license is the most important. It may only affect you if you want to further your studies. Even at that, you won't have much issues, If you continue to improve in other areas of your professional life.

Many State varsities in the south have been paying up to these range of fees.
The varsities should be able to fund itselves from the money generated after befitting facilities might have been built and handed over to them.
UNN is not a state university. It is one of the top universities in Nigeria with a very strong alumni. They are not the only ones experiencing this our Nigeria.
It is day light robbery
