You also stated 1k is enough for toiletries, tissue, soap, cream, wipes (as u don't get to bathe often or feel hot) , when you can't use the camp toilet especially if it's in a mess and cleaners don't want to clean it. we haven't even considered the ladies.

not all the food cooked in camp can be taken, you can get a runny stomach if care isn't taken.

then when you want to partake in other activities in camp , for certification or getting something that would help u out of camp ?


not everyone got enough money before coming to camp, some weren't privileged as you, clearance in some Nigerian institution can take everything u have before heading to camp. we haven't even talked about transportation for people coming from far.

I know of someone who brought a paint rubber of ijebu garri, big size milk n sugar just to scale through camp n the first week out of camp.

My brother, I'm not saying that going to camp with money isn't good or that 1k is enough, but when you don't have, what do you do? Steal, beg or kill yourself? No! You must learn to live within your means. I served in Mowe, Ogun State and I'm from Akwa Ibom. I know how I managed myself. You can choose to spend money if you have, but remember, there are people who are going to depend or live on what NYSC has to offer - completely! I was in that category during my time in camp and I'm still alive. Don't go overboard just to feel happy or rub shoulders with others. Imagine this, I'm from Akwa Ibom, never used to foods from the West but we were offered that and I ate with joy. I never had to reject. For me, it was an adventure - being subjected to a kind of rough life like you are in a war zone. But it was just for a period; it was a camp NOT my house. I knew I had only 21 days to spend there so I had to bear with the situation. Again, I'm still alive. If you can't resize your Kaaki, wear it that way and still be happy. Don't compare yourself with anybody.

Other camp activities? Please forget about them. Forget their certifications. Those papers are ripoff. They won't take you anywhere. If at all you want to learn something while in service, learn skills you can use to offer services online, e.g., how to write, graphic design, seo, mastering sound, video editing, and more. Don't go involving yourself in all kind of things. Focus on what is taking you there and even when you're posted to your PPA. Concentrate your mind on how you can develop yourself especially 'skillwise' and let every other thing be secondary and less important. Don't feel bad about anything, enjoy your life at your level. You don't need money to do registration of any form. You don't need money for food. You don't need money to charge phone. Wear your khaki the way it is if you can't adjust it. 1k can be enough for you till you leave the camp for toiletries and before you even leave the camp, NYSC would pay you some money to get settled. Don't have a beg anybody for anything. Believe in yourself. Believe in your God. Square up your shoulders and walk with dignity. You'll never become big when you beg, instead, learn to give from the little that you have.

I applied twice in ui and once in Unilag.

My brother, you've got to fight like a man. Men shouldn't be talking about depression because they can't find something to do. If no one's willing to employ you, then create a job for yourself and channel all your energy and resources into it to make it work.

As a person, I'd say that Nigeria has taught me a lesson. It's not about going to school to acquire a degree but learning a skill that you can depend on for your daily bread. I will never make a mistake of sending any of my children to any archaic Nigeria universities. From the moment they understand themselves to human, I'd get them to start learning something. Of course, YouTube can help. Such could be software development, web development, mastering the English language or learning any foreign language. As they grow, I can introduce them to some real hard stuff, e.g., mechanic, sewing, etc. After years of skill acquisition, before, during and after secondary education, they can now go to a tertiary institution (that's if they still want to, because acquiring a degree in this country seems to be a waste of time and resources).

To survive as one from a humble background in a country like ours, you must master at least five good skills (soft skills preferably). You can't put your hope on working for the government or any private organization after school in Nigeria. That's failure. Tertiary education isn't a priority anymore in Nigeria. Everyone's suffering.

The way forward especially for you is looking for something you can do to eat and then start learning a skill that can make you money in the next 4-6 months. Take your mind off the government; take your mind off corporate organizations. Look inward. What can you do to make money legitimately? Go for it! God's alive and He will crown your effort with success. Plan your life; see the bigger picture - one or two years from now!

Stop drawing sympathy from people. Rise up and fight. Encourage others to face life squarely. No one's going to make it happen for you if you don't rise up to fight. Life is fight brother. Put on a good fight. Stay away from negative businesses. Stay far away from them. God's aware of everything. Do your best and leave the rest for Him. No desperation but thinking, strategizing and putting lots of hard work. This is just a summary of my life story. If you need more inspiration, send me a PM.

At this point, there's no need to blame anyone. It won't change anything. Look at your mom as someone that is sick and needs help. Sickness isn't only when you are confined to a sick bed. I strongly suspect that your mom is depressed for whatever reason and needs to be counseled and prayed for. I don't know her, but for what I'm reading here, most times, she do regret her actions [even when you don't know], but doesn't know how to tame the voices in her head.

I'm very sure that she wasn't like this when she was young or in school. What happened? A number of factors could have a hand in this.

1. She might be harboring unforgiveness and finding it difficult to let go which led to her being depressed.

2. It could be that she promised someone marriage and disappointed the person, and then the person said to her, "Hey, you'll never enjoy your marriage to that man."

4. The devil might just be using her to shatter the family because your dad is making progress in life. I tell you, the best way to destroy yourself is making so much money in life without any root in God.

My advice to you: love your mom, forgive, and pray for her. Pray until she sense that you are praying for her. Since she's not physically sick, it may be hard for your dad to know what to do, but trust me, mom needs help. Don't just express your frustrations against her, take calculated steps to reclaim her from the devil.

Lastly, I wouldn't be ashamed to recommend you take her to SCOAN in Lagos. The family must remain together. Luckily, Ogun state is a stone throw from Lagos.

you can't manage it yourself. u'll need to visit ur eye doc to help you get better. like I stated earlier, there a number of conditions that could present with such symptoms and only by an eye exam would one be able to tell what actually could be the cause of yours and after which a treatment plan can be proffered. why don't u just make out time and schedule a visit ?
