Olasyke: were you actually doing 153km/h? Yeah. That should be 93mph. Road speeds are calculated per mile in the US and not in KM. I deliberately left the KM being a Nigerian who's been used to kmph. |

shegzee43: $280 0n gas? what kind of car? What's the speed limit on these highways? AC was on ALL THE TIME. Drove around for 5 days. Plus, gas is more expensive in Vegas than in SLC. Posted speed limit, for the most part, was 80mph (129kmph). |

spartachico: Has the salt melt away ... how come you never stopped at the real salt lake to take the pic of the lake that dried up The Great Salt Lake is drying up. That said, I have never been there before and I doubt I'd want to go. Visiting and staring at a lake, ocean or river isn't exactly my thing. If I am not fishing or swimming in it, I consider it to be a waste of free time. |

hansomb: the heat is a child's play to sokoto or Kano heat. Not sure because I haven't been to the North of Nigeria. I do know one thing though; temperatures in the US are usually not normal. They are either too hot that people walk around topless (mostly males). |

GboyegaD: Vegas is cool at this period of the year you visited though. That said, it is less humid, so it is preferred to Houston hotness for me. Vegas was too hot for me. I think it is safe to say I am unconsciously adapting to and prefer cold. The only place in Vegas that eased the burning heat was the hotel room. |

victorazy: Get yourself electric car mehn!!!
Anyway, whats their unit price for fuel over there. I hate electric cars with every fiber of my being and so do a lot of people. They are mostly declared a total loss after an accident compared to conventional cars, except it is a dent. I have seen Teslas break down on roads and even saw one en route to Vegas. My best guess would be battery-ish. There is nothing fascinating about electric cars. I am never getting one except Utah laws phase out gas cars. |

Octopus is calamari? Yes! A lot of the buffets in SLC here have plantains and they are bigger than the sheets we have in Nigeria. Calamari is squid. |

Jakumo: Minor point of correction Sanchez.
Area 51 is way the phuck out in the Nevada Desert and is NOT within the city, regardless of what is written on that wall. Workers in that fabled top secret base where UFO craft are stored typically take flights from 'Vegas Macarran Airport to Area 51 and Groom Lake which are again NOT in the city of Vegas. I think you're mistaken. There is the REAL AREA 51 meant for the US Air Force and it is highly classified and then there is Area 15 pretty much a sci-fi-ish area. I'd like to believe Area 15 is a copy of Area 51. Both are in Nevada but Area 15 is in Vegas, just a couple of minutes away from the Strip. |

It was cheap, to be candid and two major reasons why this is so is because I booked the hotel about 2 months ahead and then baby girl confidently packed jollof rice and Afang Soup + garri. Else, A week to the date, a room would cost nothing than $331 per night and then eating out would have spiked the quoted amount. |

1stGenAmerican: 😀😃😀😃 You took the advice that I gave you at the beginning of your relocation thread about seeing America through road-trips since SLC is a modest drive from many great places—I’m so thrilled! I’m happy you enjoyed Vegas and I laughed so when I saw how much you enjoyed Area 15. All men, even guys who say they hate Vegas, walk into Area 15 and lose themselves immediately as it’s so much to see and experience. Seems you guys enjoyed your trip and what makes me happy is that as a Nigerian, you’re getting out to see, learn, and experience instead of complaining about boredom and everything else. It’s hard for some outsiders to fathom but this is a great country and you’re learning and experience America the way it should be learned and experienced. I’m so happy to read about your experiences and can’t wait to see where your next road trip takes you. I did take it! Oh, I love Area 15 and I must confess, it was the one place that made the whole trip fascinating. Bulk of the Strip was super busy and the smell of hemp and cigarette put me off. Area 15 was just too immersive and fun. It's a disservice to self to be in the US as an immigrant and not experience America the way it should be experienced. I'd definitely be visiting Las Vegas at some point again. There's no doubt this is the first road trip of many. My next vacation destination will likely be Hawaii but it certainly wouldn't be a road trip (it is nearly 3,000 miles from SLC). What are some other cities you'd recommend for a JJC? I just might have another before Hawaii |

I jus couldn't believe it cus he is a man of God and he is happily married . So i dnt knw what he is doing there or is he preaching the gospel to all those unbelievers there How about you find out if he is the one? Do his pictures look like those in the public domain or something private or personal? Someone once called my attention to my profile on platform as that before and it was a cafish account. How they thought to use my pictures or why me, I'll never understand. |

infohenry: At what price, the ego will be bruised and he will start to keep his resentments to himself until it got to a breaking point, boom marriage is gone. This doesn't matter. It is just important, particularly for a man to have someone he honours and listens to. Men naturally know how to calm their wives and even make them rescind their decisions. But you see men? Ego gets in the way a whole lot and the way out for most is to live with it or take it to the one person their husband adores and listens to, depending on how serious the issue is. It's a no brainer, really. |
Family › Re: My Husband Doesn't Want Us To Get A House Help by Sanchez01(m): 2:54pm On May 10, 2023 |
infohenry: The worst marriage anyone can give. Two adults in a union must be able to settle issues without third-party involvement. If they can find common ground on any issue then they are not ready for marriage, those people you run to have not finished sorting their problems but are always already help others. Immediately you start involving people in your marriage that is the end. Some people are naturally stubborn and only a figure they deeply respect can upturn decisions they make. I have seen this way too up close and can confidently tell unmarried folks to flee from anyone of interest who doesn't have people they respect and listen to. |

Khastro: Usually these stories are half sided, someone had suggested a non-live in maid, another suggested the mom can talk with him, and a couple of other comments. The man won't wish his wife to die or faint, but this is advise for a committed relationship. Please show restraint, okay. I have a wife and a kid myself, and you are neither being a good listener, a good audience and way less an advisor Not in this case. She just put to bed and it is his responsibility to ease her discomfort, more than ever. The only one-sided or non-covered angle here is his reasons for not wanting a maid or help to assist the wife. Other than that, It's as simple as a woman puts to bed, she isn't finding it easy, rarely sleeps and hubby isn't exactly around to help. |

Xerona: he doesnt just want a stranger in his house... a non live-in house help wouldn't do much as i would still be the one to stay up most of the night. Unfortunately true. I'll suggest you have a heart-to-heart with him. He might have his reasons but it seems selfish, given your position. How about turning to a sibling from either side, someone you particularly vibe with, trust and is hardworking? You presently don't have too many options and I believe this is one option is worth exploring. |
Family › Re: My Husband Doesn't Want Us To Get A House Help by Sanchez01(m): 2:37pm On May 10, 2023 |
Xerona: Hello Nairalanders, there is an issue at hand. I have two kids and recently gave birth to the third few months ago. It's been really difficult for me since I practically do most of the house chores... my husband is hardly around because of work.
I came down with this strange disturbing headache that doesnt go away. So I went to see a doctor and she said the headache was as a result of postpartum stress and lack of sleep.
The truth is I'm awake most of the time because of the baby or when I'm attending to other household matter. I haven't had a good sleep in a long while. So when the doctor suggested I get a house help so I can find time and sleep when shes holding the baby. I knew she she was on point. But the problem is my husband, he wouldn't hear of it, he doesn't want us to get any househelp...
I even pleaded with him and made him see reasons why I needed help, but he refused... I'm beginning to think I ended up with the wrong person because I dont understand why anyone would deliberately want to subject their wife to this kind of torture.
My kids are age 5, 2 and 3 months... I go to the market, cook, clean, i even do school run too...He's a contractor and will be travelling back to work next week.. yet he doesn't want me to get help... What are his reasons if any? How about you suggest a non live-in help; someone who comes and goes? If helps are not on the table for consideration, how about a sibling from either side? |
