Politics › Re: Crisis Looms As Faleke Declines To Pair With Allege Audu's Replacement by Sanuzi(m): 7:21am On Dec 01, 2015 |
Waiting for Season 2 shegxy9: James Faleke, late Abubakar Audu’s running mate in Kogi state governorship poll, has written a letter to Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the APC national chairman. According to Faleke, he is not a party to supplementary poll to decide the next governor of Kogi state after a leading candidate Prince Abubakar Audu died on Sunday, November 22. Faleke believes that since the November 21 governorship election produced the candidates of the APC as clear winners, there was no need for a supplementary poll, The Nation reports. He also declined to pair with Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who was allegedly named the APC’s candidate for the supplementary election on Saturday, November 28, insisting that he should be declared governor-elect on the APC platform.
According to him, he said rather than substitute its late standard bearer at the governorship election for the purpose of a supplementary election, the party ought to have urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare it the winner of the poll since the expected results from the scheduled election would be inconsequential. Faleke’s letter to Odigie-Oyegun reads: “Please take this letter as confirmation to dissociate myself from the unusual and strange supplementary nomination of my humble self as running mate to Alhaji Yahaya Bello, this also serves as a notice of rejection of the purported and illegal nomination of myself as running mate to Alhaji Yahaya Bello. “It would amount to a betrayal of trust and injustice on the part of the party to pick Bello who. “I wish to put it on record that I was neither consulted by anybody before my name was submitted as running mate to a man who has since the conduct of primaries, abandoned the party, took the party to court, worked for the PDP, thereby causing our party to lose his polling unit 80 votes to his ally party PDPs 116, repeating same feat at the Ward level with APC scoring 1,146 to PDP’s 2,058. “While it is true that the said Alhaji Yahaya Bello participated in our party primaries, it’s trite that party primaries are conducted to produce a candidate and once a candidate is produced, the congress, being an ad-hoc tool for that purpose, should automatically extinguish. “It is clear from this injustice, that our party is on the path of rewarding disloyalty and discourage loyalty through this act of impunity for which we all fought the PDP. “It may also interest you Mr. Chairman Sir, that the said Yahaya Bello, since the conduct of the primaries, had been aloof from party activities as it is on record that he did not attend a single meeting or campaign rally of the party. “Mr. Chairman Sir, I am sure that it is neither in your interest, nor that of the party in particular and the public in general to lord an illegality on the people of Kogi state. “Please, take note that I am not interested in surrendering the mandate the people of Kogi State bestowed on the Audu/Faleke joint ticket at the November 21 poll as I remain the governor-elect. “I believe in the leadership of our great party to resolve this in the shortest possible time, failure upon which I shall be forced to seek redress in the court of law.” Faleke maintained that the idea of a supplementary election should not arise because the APC had already won the governorship slot by polling 240, 867 to beat Governor Idris Wada of the PDP who polled 199, 514. According to him, there was no way, the outstanding votes could sway the poll’s results, adding that only 25,000 of the 49, 353 registered voters from 91 units from 18 council areas where the supplementary election would take place have their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). He said: “Information at my disposal from the National Secretary of our party, the All Progressives Congress and my telephone conversation with your good self, confirmed to me that the party had issued INEC form and submitted my name as running mate to Alhaji Yahaya Bello in the forthcoming unusual and strange supplementary election scheduled for 5th December, 2015, covering 91 polling units in Kogi state to elect a “supplementary governor”. “Mr. Chairman, you may recall that an election was conducted on the November 21, 2015, in which I was running mate to the late Prince Abubakar Audu: I therefore remain fully committed to that joint ticket which received the blessings of the party leadership, including your good self, evident from your attendance at the campaign rallies to ensure total victory for your great party through which the people of Kogi State massively and overwhelmingly voted for us. “Following the demise of my principal after the announcement of results from the polling units, wards, local government areas and the state, our party had highest number of votes of 240, 867 against PDP’s 199, 514, thus creating a difference of 41, 353 votes between the two leading parties. On the strength of this, I hereby state clearly that I remain the governor- elect of Kogi State on the platform of our great party.” |
Politics › Re: Fraudulent Billing At Abuja Electricity Distribution Company Exposed by Sanuzi(m): 7:21am On Dec 01, 2015 |
God win oooooooooooooo. Josh316: I'm writing this to ensure that someone from the AEDC, and Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission hear my voice and take me seriously, before a hefty lawsuit lands on their desks.
I am an Abuja resident, living in a two bedroom apartment at Mbora, Abuja. For close to three years, I have not had a meter. Fortunately, my landlord got a prepaid meter installed at my premises on the 11th of November, 2015. Prior to this, I had been exploited, and robbed practically by the AEDC Jabi office. They initially started by issuing estimated bills for 800 units consumed, even during the worst of the blackouts in my area. Then the evil tariff increase was implemented early last year, while they continued issuing their billing for their fabled mirage of 800 units consumed in a two bedroom apartment! The theft then took a new twist with crazy increases in the estimated units from 800 in January to 1280 units in Feb, and kept fluctuating between 1000 units and 1360 units as recently as Oct this year.
When my meter was installed on the 11th of November, I had gone to the AEDC office to inform them about the meter which had been installed and to urge them on the need for the bill for November to capture only the first 11 days of the month. I also procured N8000 worth of units which came to 525 units. As i write this, i have used only 380 units of the 525 within the 19 days of the month. NOTHING in my house has changed and i still run my AC and my fridge and freezer are switched on as always. My bulbs have always been energy saving
Now imagine my shock and anger when I returned home today to receive a supposed November bill stating that i had used 1280 units of electricity!!! As in HOW !!!
For starters, I had previously engaged this same AEDC jabi office in a battle over illegal disconnections to my apartment over a couple of unpaid bills which had resulted from my continuous opposition to the blatant exploitation. I had written their office and copied the NERC and their AEDC HQ on the need to review this estimated bill downwards as it was unrealistic and exploitative. They refused to review this.
Now that I have this evidence of exploitation, I have written to their Twitter handle, Facebook and to their customer care and I will write and submit a letter to their HQ, copying the Federal Ministry of Power, EFCC, and NERC, requesting a review and refund of the exploited bills paid as well as compensation for the refusal to review my bills to near appropriate estimates. i am willing to engage AEDC in a legal battle for refund and compensation.
I had been paying N20,000 monthly to just cover the bills which ran into thousands, sometimes as high as N55,000 a month due to the crazy estimated bills.
Thank God i now have a meter, but I shudder to think that these people have milked hundreds of thousands of unmetered consumers for services mostly NOT rendered. This is wrong.
I will update the house on how the battle goes. If MTN could be fined, AEDC CAN be made to give account of their evil exploitation as a lesson and a warning to other Electricity Distribution Companies. |
Politics › Re: The N155billion Malabu Scam: EFCC Quizzes Jonathan’s Associate by Sanuzi(m): 7:20am On Dec 01, 2015 |
Let them face the music now LRNZH: EFCC quizzes Jonathan’s associate who helped distribute ‘slush fund’
[img]http://media.premiumtimesng.com/wp-content/files/2014/02/621x480xDanet.jpg.pagespeed.ic.WSGMaPpxvS.webp[/img] Former Minister Dan Etete, the man behind Malabu
In continuation of its investoffice.n into the N155billion Malabu Oil deal involving former Petroleum Resources Minister, Dan Etete, and some top officials of the Goodluck Jonathan administration, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday interrogated a close associate of both Mr. Etete and Mr. Jonathan.
PREMIUM TIMES learnt that Aliyu Abubakar, a businessman with interest in construction, arrived the agency’s headquarters on Monday morning on the invitation of the EFCC and was still being grilled as at 6 PM.
Mr. Abubakar, this newspaper learnt, is being questioned for his alleged role in the laundering and distribution of at least $523million, being part of the proceeds of the controversial Malabu oil deal.
Investigators found that Mr. Etete allegedly transferred the funds into Mr. Abubakar’s account, from where it was diverted into several other accounts of individuals and organizations.
This website had on May 24, 2012 reported how the Nigerian subsidiaries of two multinational oil companies, Nigeria Agip Exploration Limited (Agip) and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (Shell), paid $1.1billion (N155billion) to the Federal Government in April 2011 for onward transmission to Malabu Oil, whose principal is Mr. Etete. Our subsequent investigations later showed that the EFCC had indeed investigated the deal, concluding that the transaction pointed at a “cloudy scene associated with fraudulent dealings”.
The EFCC investigation also clearly established that Mr. Etete’s Malabu only served as a money laundering machine, as substantial parts of the funds was later transferred to various accounts owned by “real and artificial persons” suspected to have links with the Goodluck Jonathan presidency and other government officials.
Presidency sources familiar with the matter said the EFCC intimated then President Jonathan and then Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke of its findings.
“But I can tell you that the investigation suffered a setback since the presidency got wind of it,” one of our sources had said. “There is high-level complicity in the deal and there is therefore high-level cover up. The report is gathering dust on the president’s desk.”
Relying on court papers in the United States (where some consultants sued Malabo for breach of contract), checks at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and on its own investigations, the EFCC had established that “a prima facie case of conspiracy, breach of trust, theft and money laundering can be established against some real and artificial persons.”
Mr. Aliyu and the beneficiaries At the heart of what is clearly a brazen theft of public funds is Aliyu Abubakar, quizzed for the first time Monday since May 2012 when PREMIUM TIMES first exposed the deal.
Mr. Aliyu had very close business ties with Diepreiye Alamiesegha, convicted former governor of Bayelsa state, who died on October 10 this year.
Mr. Alamiesegha it was who picked Mr. Jonathan as his running mate in the 1999 governorship election in Bayelsa state and whom Mr. Jonathan succeeded in office after the former was impeached over corruption charges.
The late governor played a major role in Mr. Jonathan’s national politics, serving as a major influence, an adviser and at a point, a top campaign official. Mr. Aliyu, through companies co-owned by him, received direct payments of $523million (N81bn) from the largesse.
Investigators believe that the businessman, introduced to the president by Mr. Alamieyeseigha, was Mr. Jonathan’s front in the transaction.
Sharing the money On August 16, 2011, Mr. Adoke and the then Minister of State for Finance, Yerima Ngama, coordinated the payment of a first tranche of $401.5million (N60billion) into a First Bank account 2018288005 belonging to Malabu.
Another $400millionn (N60billion) was, based on the duo’s instructions, transferred into a Malabu Bank PHB (now Keystone bank) account 3610042472 from a Nigerian government account with JP Morgan International Bank. The balance of the funds was reportedly lodged into Mr. Etete’s account with Zenith Bank.
Immediately Malabu received the money, the distribution began. Rocky Top Resources Limited, co-owned by Mr. Aliyu received $336 million (N50bn) from the Malabu Keystone Bank deposit. Other companies that got money from the Malabu curious transfers include A-Group Construction Company, also co-owned by Mr. Aliyu. It received $157mn (N24bn), while Novel Property and Development Limited, also co-owned by Mr. Aliyu, got $30 million (N4.5bn).
Companies not linked to Mr. Aliyu but got money from Malabu include Mega Tech Engr Co. Ltd, which received $180 million (N27bn) and Imperial Union Limited, $34million (N5.1bn).
Some sources had told PREMIUM TIMES that those companies, like Mr. Aliyu’s, simply acted as fronts for political office holders, who helped to facilitate the transfer, as they had no basis to receive such huge sums of money from Malabu.
PREMIUM TIMES extensive investigation into this matter had shown how, in order to cover up what is clearly one of the most elaborate corruption schemes in Nigeria’s history, Mr. Jonathan tapped Mr. Ngama, and Mr. Adoke to hurriedly transfer the funds to Mr. Etete on August 16, 2011, a day before the then Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, assumed office.

She should return 75% of the Said loot .then she will be divinely healed . Mlaide: The immediate family of former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison Madueke seem to have given up hope on the ailing health condition of their daughter.
This is just as the embattled ex-minister has ordered her relatives to jet her back into Nigeria this Friday as her condition grew worse last weekend.
DAILY POST exclusively gathered that the former oil Minister has not been responding to treatment since Thursday, a development that has been given the family sleepless night, hence her decision to return to the country in other to seek for spiritual help.
Mrs. Madueke has been bedridden in a London hospital following her removal as overseer of the oil ministry by the new government of President Buhari.
She’s said to be battling cancer. A close insider who would not want his name in print, hinted DAILY POST that the family has concluded plans to visit popular Lagos-based Prophet, T.B Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations for prayers.
“They have decided to fly her back into the country this Friday to seek for spiritual help. The condition worsened last weekend and she personally asked the family to return her to the country.
“She has not tasted any solid food since last Monday. She did not speak throughout Thursday. When she eventually spoke Friday morning, she ordered them to return her to the country to visit Prophet T. B Joshua for prayers,” the insider further added.
Meanwhile, the ailing former Minister had in a recent interview denied stealing a dime while in office.
According to her, she left $5.6billion in the NLNG account, contrary to the report that she milked the nation treasury dry before leaving office.
Let the will of God be done in her situation.Really sad but i pray she gets better for a chance to clear her name.

ok oooooooooooo 400billionman: By Yinka Kolawole
STARTING a business in Nigeria has become more cumbersome over the last one year, according to “Doing Business”, an annual report by the World Bank Group measuring the regulations that enhance business activity in 189 economies and those that constrain it.
Business-bottleneck According to the “Doing Business 2016”, the 13th in the series of the annual reports, ranking by ease of starting a business moved the country down 8 places from 131 to 139; access to credit also moved down 7 places from 52 to 59; while access to electricity moved 1 place down from 181 to 182. The report claims that the process of starting a new business in Nigeria is hampered by government bureaucracy, with people resorting to third party agents to help them facilitate the process of business registration. The World Bank report also highlighted unstable power supply and lack of access to credit facility as major drawbacks for a business start-up in Nigeria. Nigeria was rated as the 21st worst country to do business in the world, meaning there are only 20 countries where it is harder to do business than Nigeria. The report ranks Nigeria 169 out of the 189 countries considered in the survey. Nigeria’s position is virtually unchanged from that of 2014 when it was ranked 170 globally. Worse still, Nigeria is placed 39th among African countries listed in the report which puts Mauritius top on the log as the best country in the continent to do business. Mauritius is promoted as a tax haven in the continent with excellent ratings in enforcing contracts and paying taxes.
Procedures The World Bank report indicated that 8 procedures are required, over a period of 28 days for starting a business in Nigeria, using Lagos as a case study. The procedures include: Reserving a unique company name at the Corporate Affairs Commission [CAC], taking average of 5 days to complete; preparing the requisite incorporation documents and paying the stamp duty, 7 days; signing the declaration of compliance [Form CAC 4] before a Commissioner of Oaths or notary public, 1 day and; registering at the Corporate Affairs Commission and paying the fees at the bank desk of CAC, 11 days on average. Others are: Making a Company seal, 1 day [simultaneous with previous procedure]; registering for income tax and VAT at Federal Inland Revenue Service, 4 days; registering for personal income tax, PAYE, at state tax office, 2 days [simultaneous with previous procedure] and; registering business premises with Lagos State government and paying the business premises levy at a designated bank, 1 day [simultaneous with previous procedure]. Though the report indicated that some improvements were recorded in few areas where some reforms made doing business easier, it however noted that the general business atmosphere in the country remained grim.
Improvements The country’s ranking for ease of registering property moved up 4 places, from 185 to 181. In particular, the report indicated that the Lagos State government made property transfer less costly by reducing fees for property transactions. Also, the report noted that Nigeria strengthened minority investor protections by requiring that related-party transactions be subject to external review and to approval by disinterested shareholders. This reform applies to both Kano and Lagos. However, all other indices showed that the country’s ranking either remained unchanged from the previous year or even got worse.
Methodology Doing Business 2016 presents quantitative indicators on business regulations and the protection of property rights that can be compared across 189 economies. It measures regulations affecting 11 areas of the life of a business.
Ten of these areas are included in this year’s ranking on the ease of doing business: starting a business, dealing with construction permits, getting electricity, registering property, getting credit, protecting minority investors, paying taxes, trading across borders, enforcing contracts and resolving insolvency. The report also measures labour market regulation, which is not included in this year’s ranking. Data in Doing Business 2016 are current as of June 1, 2015. The indicators are used to analyse economic outcomes and identify what reforms of business regulation have worked, where and why. This year’s Doing Business report continues a two-year process of introducing improvements in 8 of 10 Doing Business indicator sets – to complement the emphasis on the efficiency of regulation with a greater focus on its quality.
Findings The report finds that entrepreneurs in 122 economies saw improvements in their local regulatory framework last year. Between June 2014 and June 2015, the report documented 231 business reforms. Among reforms to reduce the complexity and cost of regulatory processes, those in the area of starting a business were the most common in 2014/15, as in the previous year. The next most common were reforms in the areas of paying taxes, getting electricity and registering property.
Parameters Parameters used in the report include: data on starting a business, ease of obtaining construction permits as well as property registration, stable power supply, access to credit and enforcing contracts. Others are: protecting minority investors, trading across borders and resolving insolvency.

Politics › Re: Chibok Girls Were Never Missing. by Sanuzi(m): 6:51am On Dec 01, 2015 |
Let them come and explain this on Channels,Ait and TVC what they really mean thunder74: We stumbled on this article on a page with the heading MUST READ - News and Essays. It seems to be bringing a perspective to the naughty issue of the kidnap of over 200 girls from Chibok in April 2014.
Read article below and feel free to share your thought by commenting
=============
By John Darlington
In the run-up to 2015 general elections part of the campaign promises of the All Progressives’ Congress was a double assurance that should they have our votes and be voted into power the abducted girls in the dead of the night from a school dormitory at Chibok will be rescued and reunited with their families. This sounded encouraging and thus drew the attention of Nigerians and the international community.
The then federal government under former President Jonathan was seen as none other than a clueless regime that must be jettisoned at all costs and this was followed by growing impatience as the nation waited anxiously for May 29 to send the administration packing and as luck would have it this was achieved by instrumentality of the ballot box in the general elections that took place on March 28 this year.
‘Chibok girls’ as they are fondly called was used to score cheap political points and so much noise was made. The former President everyone would recall had his reservations when the news of the ‘abductees’ first hit the nation’s airwaves. It soon made news headlines and was widely reported by the world press and former President Jonathan was given two options either he produces the girls which his ‘cluelessness’ has occasioned or immediately relinquishes his hold on power.
Several demonstrations by Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora commenced to pressurize President Jonathan to produce the abductees. I too was enraged in no small measure against the seeming inaction of the former administration under President Jonathan considering the agonizing pains the parents were passing through over the sudden loss of their children to the devil-may-care jihadist insurgents.
The All Progressives’ Congress held tenaciously to this Chibok story and had everyone taken in that gave them that magnetic pull. As luck would have it, the elections were held which, reports say, they won by a landslide. Buhari assumed the reign of power on May 29, 2015, and six calendar months on nothing has been said about the Chibok girls or the efforts in place to rescue them from their abductors and the story is gradually disappearing like a fading star in the firmament.
The babel of voices that trailed the abduction of the girls have suddenly become extinct and the parent’s like receding hills have thinned out. Ah… this brings so many things to the mind of this author. Could we have been fooled with the Chibok story by a cast of neophyte actors to solicit for votes all in a bid to get to power? Did they really deserve our votes? Life appears to be going increasingly uphill in Nigeria since they took over power about six months ago amid pleas for patience by the Nigerian regime inAbuja and this leaves me astounded in no small measure.
What about what looked like sponsored protests at the period under sad review? Who were the people whose services were retained? How much were they paid for this massive fraud, hypocrisy, and a range of elaborate deceptions?
This writer can infer that lies, deceit were designed on whose back they rode to power in that nothing has been heard about the parents nor the relatives of the purported abductees. Buhari who capitalized on the Chibok story to attract our votes has suddenly gone as quiet as he could be. This is very disheartening!
Now the question is: Were there ever abductees from a secondary grammar school dormitory at Chibok? Why has the fiery noise eventually thinned out? Were the Chibok girls mere non-existent spooks and phantoms, a mere hallucinatory, delusional fantasy designed to bamboozle the generality of Nigerians in a criminal bid to solicit for votes? Politics › Re: History Coincidence by Sanuzi(m): 6:47am On Dec 01, 2015 |
Noted see me for that research dominzy: Can a history teacher explain this ...
Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.
Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.
Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both their wives lost a child while living in the White House.
Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head.
Now it gets really weird.
Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.
Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.
Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.
John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.
Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.
Now hang on to your seat.
Lincoln was shot at the theater named "Ford."
Kennedy was shot in a car called "Lincoln" made by "Ford."
Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.
And here's the "kicker":
A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.
AND...................:
Lincoln was shot in a theater and the assassin ran to a warehouse...
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and the assassin ran to a theatre...
Worth a share ...!! Fb.com/dominzyymcmb |
Politics › Re: James Faleke Has Committed Political Harakiri! by Sanuzi(m): 6:47am On Dec 01, 2015 |
Only him commit dat Halakri what? Ayatullah: James Faleke, the APC Deputy Governorship candidate has totally destroyed his political career by standing against his party, the APC.
I wonder why he refused to be patient with the party that brought him to limelight. He could have even been more patient and cool headed after witnessing how death took away Abubakar Audu.
Now that he wants to be the governor of Kogi state in an inconclusive election and choosing his own deputy among late Audu children without consulting his party, it is clear Faleke is on the way to political suicide.
Faleke will not be governor through the supplementary election of December 5 and his stance now which is against his party means he is not a 'deputy governor'.
Yahaya Bello and APC will definitely have to look for a Yahaya Bello/APC friendly deputy governor.
James Faleke may end up being remembered in Nigeria as an unwise, hasty and greedy politician. |
