Dam5reey1: Wrong choice of batteries and not enough panels or efficient charge controller. You should have done 12V 100ah LFP, 1.1KW panels and MPPT charge controller stand alone or Hybrid. LFP batteries are happy when you don't fully charge and will continue to maintain capacity when you have good sunlight. Just like @sapiosexuality has a properly designed set up which we actually designed together Lol. Boss. This dude saved me a lot. I'm still grateful. |

Indaboskikoboko: this your setup is max. How much would this roughly cost?
And how much load do you carry on this? Do you use NEPA or you are completely off grid? I think it cost me about 2.5M. 2.3 exact price but the stress, cost of logistics, etc., and it should be around 2.5. My load isn't much though. A TV, fridge, standing fan, rechargeable fan, 8 bulbs, a sound bar, decorder, and occasionally pressing iron and blender. The setup is more than enough for me. Considering the setup, NEPA is useless to me. It's pointless. What's the point of using NEPA if my battery never runs out? I tried it once in the first week and they almost destroyed my inverter with their unstable power. So yeah, I think I'm completely off grid. |

But still, could you tell me which companies are reputable companies? And how to buy from them direct. And which brand of battery, panels, and controller you are using in your setup btw.
Edit: I have tried getting my stuff from fouani but the smallest battery they had was 900k+ then followed by 2m+ so I was priced out Okay I see. My battery and inverter are SAKO. A LiPo4 200ah 5160wh battery and a 24V 3.5kva Hybrid Inverter. I contacted the company directly and they were able to send it from Lagos to my location. I got my panels from Fouani. 4 555w Jinko Solar Panels. I think Fouani and Gennextechnologies dot com are legit online sources for solar systems. I think from my little understanding so far Felicity, Sako, SRNE, Wellion are some of the legit companies but where you buy them is more important. |

Indaboskikoboko: Hi guys. I made a setup of 1 220ah battery and 4 180w batteries to atleast power my bulbs, fan and charge the phone a few times 24/7.
Since it is rainy season, there are some days that the battery doesn't get fully charged and I thought is to be expected. But when there is sun the battery us full within a few hours of sunlight. Today has been been cloudy for most of the day. I took a nap this evening and woke up sweating, just for me to go and find out my battery has drained.
My question is, is it normal for this type of situation to happen during days with low sunlight? Asking because I specifically installed 4 panels thinking they could be enough to get some juice for me during days like this.
Let me know what you think. Tips and advices are welcome too Chai. My battery has never drained since I installed mine. It's been two months now and running. Even under the rain, my panels sometimes charge. No matter how bad the rainfall is in the past two months I always get a full battery. I will suggest you add more panels and upgrade your batteries. I think it's better to buy the panels and battery yourself from a reputable company. And your charge controller too may be an issue. |

bigrovar: Unfortunately physics doesn't care about your believes. You can prevent a direct lightning by using active lightning protection systems like Indelec PREVECTRON3 last time I checked the price (sometimes in 2021) when USD was ₦580 it was over a million for the device alone minus installation.
Direct lightning is a very rare occurrence. What is common is electrical surge induced by indirect lightning strike or lightning strike in a near by location. This is why it is best ( more economical and practical and prudent) to invest in SPD. Lightning is a phenomenon that is still being understood there is no exact science that can predict it or guarantee protection against it. What exist are standard practice on how to increase your chances of surviving the effect and impact of lighting.
My central point is. You need an SPD. The Chinese and everyone who cares about important infrastructure installs SPD. Turning off a device or breaker will not protect against a lighting surge travelling 100s of miles looking for ground. It would arc and jump between contacts.. best to provide a path for it to follow. Of cause we are all adult and thus free to do whatever we think work for us. I get you. I'm not saying it in a way that is anti science but a sort of unbelieve that we've not found a solution despite our knowledge of classical and quantum physics. I believe that with some tweaking and application of Faraday, Gauss and Refraction laws it's possible that we'd find a solution just like Leo Szilard did with E=MC². A system that can give 100 percent diversion and guarantee against both direct and indirect lightening. Maybe there's no technology for it yet but I believe it will be found when engineers start exploring or tweaking the already existing laws in science. It's hard to believe that countries like China will spend billions of dollars on Gigawatts (not mega o) of solar energy and still leave their solar grid to any sort of chance. It has to be 100 percent efficient for them. Or maybe I'm overestimating them. |

bigrovar: Turning of a breaker is no sure way of stopping and the Electrostatic discharge you get from a direct or near by lightning. You best bet is proper ground and a well installed SPD. Even that is no 100% guarantee especially if it is a direct strike which nothing can survive. Seriously? What about countries, like China, that use solar to supply a large percentage of their country? Will a direct attack also attack their grid or there must be a higher method of protection against it? With the level of technological advancement, I find it hard to believe that there isn't any way to stop all types of attack. |

tplayer: You think the east doesn't show hypocrisy? You think if they were in America's place they wouldn't do worse things?
America is definitely flawed, absolutely, but I wouldn't want to live under a world hegemon that is autocratic.
As much I feel a dictatorial regime can be beneficial if the leader is benevolent and it may just be what some countries need currently to move forward, a lack of dissenting voices is not too good for human development. No one knows it all.
The number of people that have fallen out a window in one Eastern European country send shivers down my spine.😔😔 Truth is that people do not watch these channels to decide for themselves. They decide the truth and then may try to watch it once it a blue moon to confirm their bias. The most ridiculous channel among these big boys for me is RT. Their propaganda is so weird, strange and opinionated that I watch it just for laughs. Imagine a channel that can't critique itself in any form talking about objectivity. CGTN would have been like that but they don't carry the holier than thou attitude of RT or even continuously dish out top level Chinese propaganda. I just hope FirstPost and Wion do not end up like RT. The most objective for me, even though every channel still has a doze of bias, is France24. Nobody is safe from criticism. Not the president, not Israel, USA, Russia, china, not even France. They once ran a documentary on how France enslaved Africa something no state sponsored channel will dare try. A documentary that puts them in bad light. The problem is that people love to categorize western media as a single entity with a single ideology when it's obvious that BBC, the Washington Post and TRT World (western and eastern) are anti-Isreal. |

A305: I switched to IPTV live streaming by getting an android TV box last month. I also got Airtel 5G router. With the experience I have had so far; I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK TO DSTV OR USE ANY CABLE TV.
I watch more of Geopolitics news and football but hate it that I can't have access to RT news which is my favorite news network. I hate all the CNN, Bloomberg, BBC, Reuter, DW, France24, Euronews, Skynews, Nbc, Fox new of this world
They are all western manipulation and propaganda machine. I despise them all. The only news source I consume are Russian RT news, Al Jazeera and Chinese CGTN. Since the start of Russo-Ukraine war, RT was banned from YouTube. I couldn't get it anywhere, DSTV use to show it but they stopped even long before Ukraine war.
Ever since I began Livestream I have access to RT news, I have access to all live sports for free, I stream blockbuster movies and even old movies from yesteryears.
Sometimes I wonder why it took me so long to discover this. At this point, I don't care how much I spend on data, (currently I do the airtel monthly 20k unlimited data subscription), as long as I have access to what I enjoy to watch. I will stick with streaming. Lol. I used to watch RT and Al Jazeera too much too. Even Press TV until I realised they are all the same or worse. Now I watch all. Don't let these guys confuse you. Al Jazeera has semblance of objectivity but they are pro-Qatar, pro-Shia, anti-Isreal and the same thing goes for Press TV though at a worse level. CNN is pro-Isreal, pro-Usa, anti-Russia and the same goes for Fox News only that while Fox is Pro-Republicans, CNN is Pro- democrats. DwTv, France24 and SkyNews are the most objective you will find. DW is more into documentary and not really as in-depth as Aljazeera, CNN or even SkyNews. The most ridiculous for me is RT. They call every channel bad but they can't even criticise anything in Russia. Not even the president. It's too much propaganda for anyone to handle. It doesn't have the maturity or tact of Al Jazeera or CGTN or even the ridiculousness of CNN. So, RT is lying to you. If you really want something fair you either watch all of them or try France24 and SkyNews. I would have recommended Al Jazeera but they are only fair if there's no Qatari interest in the subject matter. |

Didn't your Smart TV come with an inbuilt decorder? You simply need to find out, and connect to a dish outside the house to get free channels depending on the satellites you connect to.
And for yours to suck 120gb when connected to a network means you must have been watching movies at 1444pixels and above. 720p and 480p will not suck that amount of data in four days. |
