For the chicken grill, why don't you make it fun for the ladies. You and your friend can grill the chicken-say like a home barbecue.
You only need a grill and the rest is up to you and the boys.Y'all be serving the ladies. cheesy

You buy 4-5 chickens (frozen) and cut them into part-marinade with (a bit of garlic, chilli, salt, ginger, thyme, tomato paste and mustard).
In this case, you will still keep the fish barbecue hot on the grill. If you have a fryer, you can make potato chips and plantain.
Ketchup and mayonnaise on the table.

I quite understand that this could be a bit of a work for Naija guys but it's very unique and fun too.Y'all can be drinking beers around the grill while catching up.The ladies can just relax. Less expensive too.

I have loads of idea for parties like this, salads and some sandwiches- you good to go!
I'd buy into this idea, if it was for a fun, relaxing day out with a couple of friends, 10 at most. But when you have a gathering of 50, with kids involved, you need to be able to whip up the chops as fast as possible too. You are also assuming the op has the time and patience.

I love the idea but it's not practical for nigerian parties.

Sorry, it'll will be a waste for kids, they'll just have the puffpuff and mosa and throw away the rest. You can buy donuts at any fast food and just serve With the icecream, popcorn comes prepacked now, so easy

No vex, he doesn't need a planner, he just needs a vendor or 2. His budget or guest number doesn't need it.

The fish barbecue is a fantastic idea. Abeg what is gizdodo? Chapman or smoothie is not bad too but will 200k cover it?

We have ice cream maker so we can make for the kids...what else for kids?
How do I begin to describe Gizdodo? spicy dodo and gizzard. It's better you try it, don't know which Abuja outlet sells, maybe Grills in and Out in Wuse? It's always a hit at my parties.

The kids are easy to please, they could have waffles, popcorn, donuts and hotdog. A cup of Chapman is 350 naira or less, depending on your vendor. 100 cups is 35k, you are still covered. It all depends on the number of people you invite.

FamilyRe: Help Me Plan A Party For My Wife by sassygal(f): 6:03am On Feb 05, 2016
Hi Forfun, is she aware of the party or is it a surprise?

Since its a small party, major things to consider - small chops/finger food, drinks, canopy, chairs and music.

Canopy - a 10 ft by 20ft will do just fine. Shouldn't cost more than 5k to rent.

Chairs - 5 dozen at 500 naira =2500

Tables - 4 @ 500naira = 2000
Music - a dj, depending on your area- 10-25k

Food - since you want something different, you can have the regular naija small chops menu, also get some to grill chicken or fish barbecue with chips, asun or Gizdodo, hotdogs and waffles are not regular, for the kids, donuts, icecream will keep them happy. This you can get for 120-150k

Drinks - Get Chapman or smoothies, rather than the regular soft drinks and alcohol

P's. I hope I get invited!

Please I beg, only serious buyers should call - that is those ready to pick up a car within the next 20 days. For the person that called saying I am a scammer for trying to sell 2013 cars at these prices- they are not my cars, I didn't fix the prices, these are the prices the company listed inhouse. It will cost you nothing to come and inspect.
AutosRe: Honda accord, mitsubishi pajero, toyota fortuna 2010-2013 models at very cheap p by sassygal(op): 3:25pm On Dec 01, 2015
The prices are the minimum bidding price and they cannot go lower than that. If you place a bid and win but do not remit payments within 5 days, the bid goes to the next highest bidder on the 6th day.

The company buys cars in the year of manufacture, so the years indicated are the year of purchase

What about for hubby? Would it look strange for him not to wear agbada?
Do we have to wear same lace fabric?

I'm not a very traditional person and I consider myself prudent so really don't wanna shell out big bucks for aso oke. At the same time, wanna look stunning.
Uhm, yes it will be strange for him not to wear agbada and those alagas will fine him grin He could wear a gbariye though. Pictures attached. No you don't have to wear the same lace. Men wear polish lace often times.

Can2012:
Helloooooo my elders, e ku ikale o. Wedding coming up mid November and nothing has been sorted out yet. Below are my questions make una biko, abeg, ejo, please chip in anywhere you can. Thank you.

1. Yoruba couple: is there a way of doing away with the outrageous aso-oke of 100k upwards that will probably never be worn again?

2. It's just the traditional wedding and reception. I want white predominantly and I want it classy.
Bride in all white native, teal beads, shoes and purse. Groom in white outfit and teal cap.
Guests in teal and white.
Decor white and teal with touches of green on centre pieces.
Seems to me like everything might be too matchy matchy and bride and groom would look too much like the guests (I don't mind though) Guess this is where the aso oke comes in. Does anyone have any suggestions per colour adjustments or additions?

3. Rocktation, mentioned Jahlobia gardens to someone else earlier (thanks for this) does any one else know any other sensibly priced outdoor venues? I'd like the green background of the gardens to complement the white and teal outfit/decor.

4. Although it's a traditional wedding, would it make sense to have a first dance and dance to John Legend's "all of me"?

Thanks guys
With regards, Currently Flustered Human
Hi,

To answer your questions - you can get a cheaper alternative to the asooke that will still appear traditional - Get a lovely lace material which you could make iron and buba with or skirt and blouse and then get asooke for gele. Depending on your taste and budget - you can get a good outfit for less than 50k

2) matchy matchy isn't a bad idea, simply alternate the colors- if your guests use Teal outfits and white gele, you should use white on Teal gele.

3) which area is your wedding - will help narrow down outdoor venue
I
4) it's your wedding day, you can Dance to whatever tune you want to as long as you are happy , no one should tell u otherwise!

Cheers

3weeks to my wedding & my inlaws changed my wedding colors from purple & yellow to royal blue & yellow. Now I'm at a fix. I bought purple gowns for my bridesmaids & my sisters too have bought purple lace for their asoebi. What do I do now? I'm sad cos they've started sending the invitations & its written royal blue and yellow. Pls advise if there's a way out for me.
Is this your wedding or their wedding? Luckily you can combine all three.

Simply use a Peacock theme or stick to purple and royal blue with a touch of yellow. Or purple and yellow with a hint of blue.

A good decorator will know how to combine all three tastefully

I think my previous comment was insulting, I'm sorry.
Do you honestly believe a 'competitor' would advise an opponent? Whatever you believed is in your head alone! The sky is big enough for every bird to fly, besides she may not even be in my vicinity for me to want to compete with and I asked those questions because they are pertinent!

Where in the initial post did the op prove that she was capable of handling events, no qualities listed, no experience stated or you expect people to patronize based on sentiments?

Please be careful of insinuating rubbish
