On the contrary, capturing Kyiv if they (Russians) were that close would have brought an abrupt end to the war all over Ukraine with victory for the Russians. It would have given Putin 100% power to dictate the terms of any peace talks.

Alot of places of employment start closing at 4pm, and some as early as 3pm if the employee is on a flex time schedule. There's usually more demand for electricity at the start of peak hours i.e. people returning from work to turn on electric range, turn on AC, turn on laundry, turn on dishwashers charge their devices e.t.c..

In California and many other US states, the peak demand period is generally defined as the hours between 4pm to 9pm. By 6.30 to 7pm, sunset starts and the house remains cool for the rest of the night till maybe 11am the next day. So, it's not a bad idea to cool the house just before peak since the house would retain the coolness after sunset.

Green or no green power, It's common in developed countries for power companies to advice customers to use appliances that draw lots of power outside peak hours. Some power companies also charge higher tariff during peak hours to mitigate stress on electrical networks. So it's a win-win for both customer and company if heavy demand can be moved outside the leak hours. Customer saves money, while power company spends less money on maintenance.

Here is Tesla advising it's customer in Texas about the same peak/off peak usage in the attached screenshot. I wonder if Texas is mostly running on green energy too like California as mentioned by our man Basilico.

Huawei's mobile phone business was basically butchered in the some western countries. They were at the point of producing phones that could rival Samsung's.

Many or a good number of western countries also banned mobile phone companies from installing Huawei equipment from their high speed 5G network. That translates to lost revenue for the company.

The US crashing may bring down China as well. Most of its manufactured goods are sold to American customers. Canada and Mexico won't be spared too as they rely so much on the USA. Some African countries rely very on USAID too e.g. the US pays for 83% of HIV drugs in Nigeria and similar ratio for many African countries.
