Hi TenaciousOrphan,

It is unclear to me from your post if your female friend is already in the U.S or not, Number 2 is giving the assumption that she's already in the U.S. In anycase, I'd express my personal opinion on the subject which will cover whether she's in the U.S already or not.

If she is already here in the U.S,
Summary: She should endeavor not to go out of status (fail to enroll and allow the DSO to terminate the sevis record)! If focusing on Ph.D. application for Fall 2024 means that she'd quit her M.S, that may not be a perfect idea as she will lose her F1 status and it will affect her Family in the end. If it happens that person X goes out off status, and gets admitted in a school with Full funding for Fall 2024, she'd need to apply for reinstatement of her Sevis record terminated by her M.S School. This may be a complex situation to handle. Again, based on the assumption that she's in the U.S, perhaps she should explore other means of paying the fees such as transfer to a school with a lesser COA and could accommodate payment plan or access other payment options accessible within the U.S.

Now, If she is not in the U.S already, I'd say that she should resume very early, hunt for any supplemental fundings (if applicable), and begin a conversation with the finance office about payment plan (sometimes, the conversation is different when you are already on ground, they maybe inclined to provide such pathway).

But right now, she should have a Plan B: search for smaller schools with lower COA that still have open admission window for Spring 2024. apply and get an admission. Incase the supplemental funding or payment plan conversation fails, she may perhaps seek refund and transfer her Sevis record to the new school with lower COA and have more flexible accommodation.

TenaciousOrphan:
A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT REQUIRES URGENT ADVICE:
A female friend whom I knew here in the USA is in serious trouble. She needs advice and assistance:
1. Though she has an M.Sc and 6 years teaching experience with 28 publications in Nigeria, she was admitted to one of the highly ranked Schools in USA as an Msc student without funding, she didn't admissions orientations before we met. After 30k GA was given to her, Her Tuition is still 35k yearly. She has managed to pay 11k, but the remaining 24k needs to be paid b4 registering for spring but she doesn't have the money to pay and she was advised to take leave of absence.
2. The major problem is that, she has her husband and 3 children in 9ja. The goal is to enter a Ph.D by fall 2024 in my school or any other school here and I am already helping her with that. BUT SHE WANTS TO LEAVE THE CURRENT MSC PROGRAM TOTALLY, AND CONCENTRATE ON GETTING PHD ADMISSIONS WHILE DOING UNDER-G JOBS FOR NOW.
THE BIG QUESTION IS: WILL THIS LAST STEP OF LEAVING THE PROGRAM AFFECT HER FAMILY WHEN THEY WANT TO APPLY FOR F-2 FROM NIGERIA: SHE NEEDS ADVICE PLEASE?

1. Which of these schools offered you funding? If one of them, then get the I-20 of the school with funding, If both, make a careful consideration of your options and get just ONE I-20, if none offered you funding, consider the odds for funding and make a choice, but you still getting one I-20.
I am not sure why you are considering to get two I-20 documents, you can only attend one of the schools at a time.

2. Congrats on your wedding. I do not think there is a problem with your wife having her maiden name on her passport. However, it is advisable to go with evidence to show that you are legally married such as your marriage papers (most important of course) as well as some marriage pictures etc.

3. If you are the one going to study, your wife gets F2 visa and not F1. F2 visa is a dependent visa.
I suggest that if the VO asks why she wants to go with you at this time, be ready to provide solid reason why she would leave her job to go with you. such as Our marriage is still young and about X months old and highlight how your wife will be a strong emotional support for you while you are in the U.S.

I hope this helps.

Emma549:
Hello Esteemed colleagues.
I'm new here.
I am got admission to Georgia southern university to study Msc in Electrical Engineering And university of New Orleans for this same course.
Please I intend to get my visa at Lagos Embassy.
Classes are starting in August 5 for GSU and August 14 for UNO.

My questions.
1. Can I get two form I20 from both schools.
I just got married in Dec 2021 and I intend to go with my wife.
2. My wife maiden name is still on her passport. Hope this won't have any effect at the interview.
3. What are the chances of issuing F1 visa to newly wedded couples with no kids yet.

Your answer to the question Why Arcadia University isn't convincing enough, articulate your point together as one with convincing points
You allowed the VO to play around that question for you.
And is the VO saying that IPCR isn't offered by your school ?? because I can Infer that from what you typed.

Get more reasons why the school, make some findings about your course and articulate your point.
Don't give up!!

Fire back

lalahhh:
Congratulations.........
I was scheduled to go for the interview today. I went there but I was denied. Here is how the interview went.
VO - Good morning
Me - Good morning, how are you?
VO - Fine thank you . Please pass your passport and I 20.
Me - I did
VO - so why Arcadia University
Me - I did an online research and I liked the structure of the program at Arcadia. Arcadia offers better expose and ...
VO cuts in
VO - why Arcadia University
Me - apart from this, one of my undergraduate lectures told me to apply to Arcadia University
VO cuts in
VO - You are still not answering the question I asked you ...
Me - like I said I did an online research and my sister did too and we decided for Arcadia University
VO - U know what, I did the same course you are going for. So why Arcadia University why not the school I attended . I bet if I google schools who offer IPCR I won't find Arcadia.
VO presses the keyboard and says you see I can't find Arcadia but I can find the school I went to.
VO - I regret to you inform but you cannot be granted the visa at this point . Pls go back and do your research well and come back.
Me - when should I come back ?
VO - you can come back tomorrow if you get a space while booking .
So I left , I'm planning to try again.
I don't know if I said anything wrong or probably the answer I gave him wasn't enough. Pls tell me so I can prepare for the next appointment.

Please I have a question

I have a friend who when the school pasted nysc list, they mistaken fixed 2.1 as her class of degree instead of 2.2 which is her class of degree. She corrected it in the school but seems it was not done and now on NYSC portal for registration, its saying she graduated with 2.1

Please how can this be rectified??

Thanks

registered with erudite consult
I discovered that it was their mail they even used to register my GRE and as such, I wont have access to it so now am forced to still transact with them and even at a higher cost.
Education / Re: How To Achieve High Scores On The GRE by Sbrainy(m): 9:53am On Feb 28, 2017
Congratulations @drhopeful

I need clarifications in these area

1. How long does it take to send ones GRE score to another school?

this second is a bit long. pls read

2. I didn't register my GRE by myself, its from a consult that helps in registration . I want to send my GRE score to some other set of schools , and since I read on earlier threads here than it is cheaper to send the money via ones bank and not third party because they will charge with the parallel market rate.
I have consulted the person and he is like he cant remember the password he used to create my account but if I need to resend, I should send the money to him and he will use remember password to ask GRE to send my score to the other school.
What should I do?

Thanks in Anticipation.
