Uchenna Kanu hit a hattrick for Cruz Azul W last night in their 6-4 win vs Atlas W. Her first goals for her new club in the Liga MX women 25/26 season. Just realised she did not make the Super Falcons list for Cameroun.

Chiwendu Ihezuo made the list and has been consistent in the Liga MX Women for Pachuca W with 8 goals scored already. Will be in action on Feb 23 for Pachuca vs Juarez W.

Kanu making a case for a spot in the final roster..

That nagging knee Injury have been a major problem for her I must say, The most complete forward the SuperFalcons have in recent years but didn’t live up to expectations…!

Would love to see the trio of Rinsola Babajide, Esther Okoronkwo and Rasheedat Ajibade upfront..

But again Esther Okoronkwo isn’t a Traditional "Target Woman/Poacher", she plays like a false 9 and those forwards who love to involve in play, drift wide and make things happen instead of doing the main job of scoring goals..

One reason I’m clamoring for a typical no.9 and I don’t think Joy Omewa who’s that type is a starter yet..

Nicole Payne can play on both side as a Fullback while we already have Chidinma Okeke and Shukurat Oladipo as backup's for Ohale and Demehin at CB as well as alternate Right/Left Backs

The Super Falcons of Nigeria are gearing up for the Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, and they've got a crucial warm-up against Cameroon. The teams will face off in two friendly matches in Yaounde on February 28th and March 3rd, 2026. Nigeria, the 10-time champions, aim to retain their title and qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil ¹.

NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, expressed confidence in the team's preparation, saying they're committed to doing everything to retain their WAFCON title. FECAFOOT General Secretary, Isaac Mandong, welcomed the opportunity to host Nigeria and strengthen ties between the two federations.

Is it not too early to bench Osinachi Ohale? Yes she has lost one or two yards of pace but she makes up for it with experience and good positioning.. I must say the Backline still needs a Veteran like her.

Also the Central Defense might also lack that height she brings one of the reason I will clamour for a tall CB as replacement.

In Midfield Madugu hardly play a Double Pivots, he prefers a Single DM and two CAM ( Ajibade & Echegini ).

But again moving Ajibade back to the Right Wing Is a big plus which I’m hoping he will consider..

🇳🇬 Been catching up with some of the Nigerian U23 players abroad we ain’t familiar with.

My takeaway is Nigeria have a really exciting talent in Chioma Okafor and Florence Onyinyechukwu Okoli.

They’re one of the fastest players I’ve seen at this level. Incredibly quick and causes so many problems for defenders.

Not the tallest but they makes up for it with their quick feet and speed.

They’re still raw. Needs to improve some of their actions when they gets into goal-scoring opportunities.

But that pace and their ability to draw defenders to themselves makes them players with special potential.

They closes down opponents so well in the opposition’s final third. Wins a lot of balls that way.

Excellent in one 🆚 one situations.

They Could do more defensively, tracking back to help out in defending. But they have got everything to go really far.

Remember their name… Okafor and Okoli

Both currently 22yrs and can play all positions upfront but Okoli is mainly a no.9

Nigeria 🇳🇬 SuperFalcons need a Kelvin Bassey in that Backline.

Whosoever that’s going to takeover from 34 years old Osinachi Ohale should be able to give us that CB vibes.

The Final Draw for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2026 will be held in Rabat on Thursday, 15 January 2025.

On the same day, the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) will also announce the winners of the CAF Women’s Coach of the Year and other outstanding women’s football awards.

The draw will mark a historic moment for the competition, featuring an expanded 16-team field for the first time. It will take place at 14h00 local time (13h00 GMT / 15h00 Cairo).

The 16 qualified teams are: Morocco (hosts), Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia.

CAF Awards – Women’s Categories Ahead of the draw, CAF will announce the winners of three Women’s Awards categories:

Ahmadu's voting is not only spiteful. It is condescending. For someone who was rated 4th best goalkeeper in the world at the Ballon d'Or, nobody matches her currently on the continent. This isn't even about patriotism (not that is bad) , it is about doing what is right and just.

And for those saying that their vote is their choice, I hope you all know that it could be you, in a different context someday. Imagine being highly deserving of a reward, and someone intentionally prevents you from getting it because they have the power to do so.
