To me I don't think there's anything to be scared of since you're a PR holder, and you've reported at the police station, let the police know that you've sent the other phones to Nigeria and I'm sure they'll resolve the issue of the locked iPhone8 cos that's the major bone of contention, the only loss here might just be $50 since the woman said they value the phone at $200

I think this is the best thing. I don't know how their police operate over there. My move would have been to recall the case from the police station and accept the $200 she's offering for return. Then picker and seller can see how to balance on the remaining $50. It seems like the easy way out.

You buy a phone via deal finder, picker picks , you sell the phone off instantly prob cos you got another great deal and needed the cash. Now would you be responsible for the phone

If the ish is repairable. Let both sides repair it. If we want to go by normal buying and selling. Seller is responsible for phone until buyer completely test everything in his presence and leaves with the phone.

Chisom has to return phone to Tola, Tola returns phone to seller(if possible) if it's not possible Tola chats with seller to see if he can get any amount of refund. Tola owes Chisom a responsibility.

Tola buys phone , sells off to chisom when phone was still offshore .

Phone clears in Nigeria , chisom gets his phone .

Phone turns out to have network issue . Note : sellers description never stated such neither does tola knows, neither did picker know.

Phones ownership had been taken by chisom from pickers end .


Who's responsibility is it for phone to be fixed ?

Majorly the fault is Tola's. It has to be assumed that Tola is a deal finder as such he should have asked the seller if the phone was unlocked. Which is what our pickers always tell us to ask, ask and ask questions.

Minorly, Chisom also has a fault cos he should have asked Tola properly if the phone was OK and unlocked.

Tola however has to be the one to take responsibility, he can however plead with Chisom for them to share the cost.
Reason being if Tola had not sold it offshore, but brought it in country he would have been the one to repair it.
