There’s a budget for the HOA. And all their expenses are captured in it. As at now the 17 members have the law to their favor, they will even be nice and lenient if they didn’t suspend the 5 that are with the Governor.

To seat the house need 1/3. And not 2/3.
You can do more research.
2/3 is needed when they went to impeach or suspend.

The status quo is that they remain House of Assembly members-elect, not yet inaugurated hence not yet part of Edo HOA.

3 members that have been inaugurated before can form a quorum. And they select a Speaker tempura to swear in the remaining 14. Deputy clerk of the house is available to conduct that. This is a simple thing. Except you want to say the 3 HOA members can’t form a quorum.

But you are a blatant hypocrite for sidelining the position of the law and conflicting the authority of HOA members with that of members-elect. Until the members-elect present themselves to the elected Speaker of Edo HOA for swearing in, they are not part of the Assembly.

This was the same senerio that played out when Saraki was elected Senate President to the dismay of APC majority members. The APC Senators had no option that to submit to Saraki for their inauguration. This is the position of the law, let stand by it.

Did you read in their letter to AGF that were prevented from accessing the HOA chambers to take oath of office?
Also their seats can’t be declared vacant by both the Governor and the Speaker because they’re just members elect, until they take oath of office before we can start counting the 180 days legislative attendance.
3 members out of 9 that was inaugurated can form a quorum and select a Speaker temporary to swear in the 14 once they have the service of either Clerk or Deputy clerk available. And all this is what they’ve done.
The AGF has looked at the law and he advised with the backing of the sections of the constitution.
When the AGF advised PMB to desolve the APC NWC, nobody fault him but now that it’s against your wish you said he is wrong. How can 7 be greater than 17.

You see reason why Obaseki and his Deputy were so serious about Oshiomhole not entering Edo for the election?

Don’t mind those online voters without voters card. If the Assembly should impeach both Shuaibu and Obaseki before September 19. That will be the end of road for both of them and the winners will be the tax collectors. They’ve cashed out.
As it is now Obaseki will find it hard to concentrate on his campaigns outside Benin, because 1 hr is a lot of time in politics. His impeachment won’t take 3 weeks if those against him truly mean business.

The 14 lost their seats already. INEC has not conducted elections because they (14) went to court to challenge the declaration of their seats vacant.
They did not go for inauguration and were asking for a new declaration which the governor refused to give. they went to court to challenge the declaration and lost. instead of resuming they went to Abuja. Now they are relying on the same declaration to be sworn in after they lost their seats. Unfortunately, you cannot eat your cake and have it.

Both you, the Governor and the Speaker are not saying the truth. The Governors proclamation is done once in any assembly tenure. The speaker can’t just wake up one day and declare seat of those that have not been sworn in vacant.

This Speaker didn’t know what he’s saying. You can’t declare vacant seat of someone who is yet to be sworn in.
Also it is the duty of the House Clerk or Deputy clerk to swear in members elect.
As it stands now there are 5 PDP members in the house.

Same issue with POI. In a sane society POI is not eligible to contest because he has a case of 700M pending. Pure case of misconduct

POI is not found guilty yet by a court of competent jurisdiction. Until then he is innocent until conviction.
Until the chief judge receive a letter from the house , and set up panel of enquiry that find the governor guilty of the offenses levied against him, Obaseki is also innocent of any misconduct.

when some of you talk about illegality yet still support obaseki, it baffles me. was it not illegality for 10 out of 24 members to be innaguarated at night with one of them wearing short knickers, was it not illegality for the Governor to remove the roof of assembly complex, who maintain the state assembly under the purview of separation of power? illegality begat illegality

What they don’t know is that if those Lawmakers should have their way by impeaching both Governor and Deputy. It will take more than a year before the court can upturn their impeachments.
And as things are right now. The security apparatus is in Favour of the 17 lawmakers.
