The Governor has no right to swear in any assembly member.
It is the job of the Clerk or the Deputy Clerk supervises by the Speaker or Deputy Speaker.

The new elected lawmakers aren't active as their tenure starts counting after the do elections! The new lawmakers can't stop banks from giving loans to the governor! Impeachment proceedings can be done but in the context of what is happening, obaseki can reverse his impeachment in court pending after the elections, he can still run for governor until the court address the impeachment clause, This lawmakers tenure starts immediately after the edo elections, so they don't really have to take big decisions!

I beg to differ with with you on the impeachment. Once the Inquiry panel that would be set up by the chief judge find Obaseki and his Deputy guilty of misconduct allegations, and he is impeached he can’t contest the election until the court upturn the impeachment. Section 182 of 1999 constitution as amended stated it clear. It will take almost a year before the court will give judgement on the impeachment will be delivered.
Fayose and Ngige’s Impeachments were upturned by the courts before they were able to contest elections.

There's one Committee that is required to be constituted by the chief judge before he can be impeached. If the chief judge doesn't set up the committee they can't go through.

The courts are there to compel the Chief Judge to constitute the panel of Inquiry.

Both can be impeached at the same time. As it stands now Obaseki and his Deputy’s chances are 50/50.
But I don’t think they will impeach them.

At the end of the day it's court that will decide if he was properly impeached or not by which time election would have come and gone.

Thanks at the bolded. I’ve been explaining this to them here but they won’t sit down and reason. Those fighting Obaseki knows that what they’re about to do is illegal. But they will have their way before the court will decide the case. The election would have come and gone.

My point is so far there is House clerk or deputy in their sittings and they have the required number by law. It they impeach the Governor and the deputy, it is only the court will determine the legality of the impeachment and before the judgement will come, the election would have come and gone.
Remember that those fighting the Governor have the security apparatus in their support. Once they illegally impeach the Governor the police and DSS will withdraw his security details. The Chief Judge wil swear in another Governor. All these are not going in Favour of the Governor. The courts won’t give judgement till maybe next year and by then this fighting the Governor would have their way.

The Ondo case is difference because those that wanted too impeach the deputy governor are not up to 2/3. But as this moment Edo’s case is more dicey for the Governor. Can’t you see the mace there?
I don’t pray they initiate impeachment proceeding against Obaseki, because they will have their way. Go and ask Fayose, Nyako and Ngige how they were illegally impeached. It took the courts almost a year before upturning their impeachments and By then they’re gone.
If they impeach Obaseki before the election he won’t be on the ballot.

Sadly if they succeed in impeaching the Governor before the election. He won’t be eligible to participate in the election. The Governor should have make peace with those 14 members elect and buy them over to his camp. As it stands now the Governor have a lot to lose. Because they might impeach him illegally.

Is Obaseki removing the Mace constitutional?
In telling you that if they choose to Impeach him with the numbers they have presently, they will have their way and tell you and Obaseki to approach the court. All Obaseki did today is against the constitution but you see nothing bad in it. If the opposing side choose to go the illegal way also Obaseki will be the biggest loser at the end of the day. If they impeach him illegally it will take the courts not less than 6 months to decide the case. And do you know he won’t be eligible to contest the upcoming election as an impeached candidate? At the bolded is my fear for the Governor. With just a 3 trucks of combined security forces nothing Obaseki and his supporters can do. I remember how Fayoski and Ngige we’re impeached.

Nothing is impossible in Naija politics. They will do everything to make him go down. As it stands now they’re succeeding in distracting him. By Monday another issue will arise.

You're missing a point. September 19 election is just for the Governorship seat alone. The house members will be there till 2023.

If they impeach the Governor before the election. PDP won’t have candidate because he won’t be eligible to contest any position again until the impeachment is upturn by the court. And that will too late to do.

What’s playing out in Edo state is beyond September 19. Today is 6 and that means there is more than 5 weeks for anything to happen. Don’t be surprised that those fighting the Governor will do everything to frustrate him. As at this morning only 5 members of the House are still supporting the Governor from 10 as at Monday.
Those laying siege at the assembly complex can do that for how many days? We’ve seen how a Governor was impeached in this country in less than 3 weeks. And it took the courts more than 6 months before they gave ruling that the impeachment was illegal. But the perpetrators has already achieved their aims. I won’t be happy if they do that to Obaseki because he won’t be eligible to stand for the upcoming election. I don’t like the Governor but those fighting him are now making someone like me to start having soft heart towards him. But can he win the fight ahead?

Na today I know say Edo people are with the Governor. I dey among the mammoth crowd gathered at ring road presently. The House of Assembly chamber is presently crowded by Edolites who upon hearing about the planned coup by Oshiomothief started trooping to Osadebe complex to ensure the Governor and assembly members are protected. The crowd has overwhelmed the invading policemen on hatchet assignment.
