Fashion › Re: Why Is Society So Obsessed With Looks? by SeanT21(f): 5:38am On Jul 13, 2009 |
mohawkchic: ~Hang on a Minute, wasnt it the same "Society" that placed emphasis on "Looks" and became obsessed w/ the Importance of "Outer Beauty" rather than "Inner Beauty" !!. . . Made Judgements or Treat the Not-So-Pretty differently?
~So Some succum to the pressures. . .seeking Perfection at any given moment, wudnt blink to spend as much as they can to achieve "The Perfect" look. . i dont blame them. . Damn if you do,Damn if you dont!! ~Yeah some folks will say "I Care More About Inner Beauty Than Outer Beauty Yadi Yada Ya" But who are we fooling really? Looks Does Really Matter And "Society" favours Attractiveness!
~Anywho, for me the Need To look good hasnt taken on A Life On Its Own I love to look good! Sue Me!
~Me think there's enuff room for The Natural Beauties ~Not Obsessed And The Obsessed to all roam about in "Society"!
~Here are some Factors i think contribute to why Folks cud be obsessed w/ looks, depending on the Individual/State of Mental Mind Or the suitation they fond themselves in. . .needless to say each Individual differs soOooo. . . .
~Emotioonal Insecurities :Low Self-Esteem ~Scared To Be Perceived Otherwise ~Self-Interest:Self-Centered: Births Obsession! ~Seeking Perfection/Acceptance In A Professional/Personal Capicity :Looks/Interaction/Making An Impression ~Vanity: One Of The Cardinal Sins Of Man ~Trying To Hard To Fit IN:Seeeking Approval from M8's/Family/Spouse/BF/GF/Strangers ~BDD Sufferers:Body Dysmorphic Disorder believe that they are so unattractive and unacceptable to others that they even avoid social interaction for fear of being ridiculed: The BDD sufferer will undergo repeated surgery. Many sufferers may have over 50 procedures done and still feel that they are inherently ugly and unacceptable, both to themselves and others.

FL Gators: Ok, I'm not the best dresser in the world, but I know I dress good so I know when I see horrrible.
There's this Nigerian that lives across my dorm building. She's always wearing this long skirts and flowery shirts.
She's nice and friendly and all, but how do I tell I to let go of those wardrobes?
I invited her to come shopping with me/ my friends yest, but she was like "Nah, I'd just stay in my room". I don'tknow what else to tell her, but. . . . one day my mouth go fit say sth I shouldnt say
I mean, she has so many long black and brown stretchy dress and diffeent colors/type sof flowery shirts that I don't even know if they're same or different. My advice to you is to "MIND YOUR BUSINESS".Let the girl be.She will grow out of it. |
She Broke the G.O.P. and Now She Owns It By FRANK RICH SARAH PALIN and Al Sharpton don’t ordinarily have much in common, but they achieved a rare harmonic convergence at Michael Jackson’s memorial service. When Sharpton told the singer’s children it was their daddy’s adversaries, not their daddy, who were “strange,” he was channeling the pugnacious argument the Alaska governor had made the week before. There was nothing strange about her decision to quit in midterm, Palin told America. What’s strange — or “insane,” in her lingo — are the critics who dare question her erratic behavior on the national stage. Sharpton’s bashing of Jackson’s naysayers received the biggest ovation of the entire show. Palin’s combative resignation soliloquy, though much mocked by prognosticators of all political persuasions, has an equally vociferous and more powerful constituency. In the aftermath of her decision to drop out and cash in, Palin’s standing in the G.O.P. actually rose in the USA Today/Gallup poll. No less than 71 percent of Republicans said they would vote for her for president. That overwhelming majority isn’t just the “base” of the Republican Party that liberals and conservatives alike tend to ghettoize as a rump backwater minority. It is the party, or pretty much what remains of it in the Barack Obama era. That’s why Palin won’t go gently into the good night, much as some Republicans in Washington might wish. She is not just the party’s biggest star and most charismatic television performer; she is its only star and charismatic performer. Most important, she stands for a genuine movement: a dwindling white nonurban America that is aflame with grievances and awash in self-pity as the country hurtles into the 21st century and leaves it behind. Palin gives this movement a major party brand and political plausibility that its open-throated media auxiliary, exemplified by Glenn Beck, cannot. She loves the spotlight, can raise millions of dollars and has no discernible reason to go fishing now except for self-promotional photo ops, , The full article - http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/12/opinion/12rich.html?em
WOW~~Speechless!! |

Latoya is speaking the truth. I said the same thing yesterday on another topic.I believe someone is gonna get arrested for murder sooner or later. The LAPD said they were gonna turn this case into a Criminal one.I guess they are thinking the same thing I am thinking. Most of the folks that were with MJ days before his death said he was filled with energy and even dancing around but then a few days later he's dead.Something definitely does not add up.I hope that person is brought to Justice. |
