During the Biafran war, all the technical professors in University of Nigeria Nsukka became legends. They designed bombs, grenades, rockets, etc. In short, they designed a refinery to refine crude oil.

Prof Gordian ezekwe led the Rocket Group under Biafran Research and Production Directorate (that was Lockheed Martin, Boeing, etc in one). The accomplishment is uncommon as they not only designed the systems, they designed production systems, and manufactured the stuff, while under sanctions and blockade, which made it impossible to even import salt. Prof Njoku Obi while under the sanctions invented a vaccine which the WHO approved for the treatment of cholera. That vaccine was later used during the Kano 1970s cholera outbreak.

The ingenuity of the Igbo man is second to none, Nigeria is just a terrible limitation

What has this got to do with the original post on this thread?

If everything happening online is reflective in reality, Obi will be President.
I’m closer to Edo than Ibos and I can tell you one thing for sure, Ibos had absolutely nothing to do with Obaseki or PDP winning the last Edo Gubernatorial election.
Wetin consign conductor with drivers license!

Personally, I think this hatred for Igbos is not necessary and it is affecting the rest of the country. I feel that’s why we have a President that is not competent enough. Most people voted for him out of tribal sentiments rather than competence.

RedboneSmith:

How many Kue names exist among the Edo? I'm just asking for enlightenment purposes, as I have not heard any other one apart from Osakue. Can you make a little list, if you can?

But Kwe names are very typical among the Igbo:
Anikwe - If the Earth deity agrees
Uwakwe - If the world agrees
Mbakwe - If the community or town agrees
Ohakwe - If the public agrees
Agbarakwe - if the deity agrees
ezekwe - if the Eze agrees (I don't like translating eze as king, as that is not what it originally meant)
Nzekwe - if the titled man agrees
Umunnakwe - if the kindred agrees
Igbokwe - if the community agrees

And the list just goes on....

Even if we accept the argument that 'osa' was originally derived from the Edoid, it was simply grafted unto a typical Igbo name structure.

Saying that Osakwe was borrowed from the Edoid is like saying Ijesurobo was borrowed from Latin. Ijesu is derived from the Latin name for Jesus, which is Jesu. But it was grafted unto an Edo naming pattern. You can actually observe other Edo names like Osarobo, Oghenerobo and Obarobo, which follow the same pattern. Osakwe follows a demonstrably Igbo name pattern.

How many other Edo names follow the Osakue pattern? It would be pretty telling if there were many Edo people bearing Obakue or Oghenekue for instance, but I don't think there are. (Feel free to correct me.) If other names of that pattern don't exist in Edoid or are not common in Edoid, then it will even be tempting to reach the conclusion that Edo Osakue was influenced by Igbo Osakwe, despite the 'osa' element possibly being originally an Edo loan.

Just as there are many "kwe" names in igbo are there "kue" names in Edo.

Here is a list i can remember but there are so many others.

Osamakue
Ikuenobe
Ehikue
Iyalekue.

Now i repeat Osakwe is of Edoid origin, it is very obvious unless you can bring proof otherwise.

The core igbo speaking people do not use "osa" in their names. This "Osa" prefix/suffix is predominantly being used by the Edo speaking people.

If it was "chi" or "chukwu" , i bet no one will argue this. I would expect to hear Chukwukwe if it was an igboid name.

That some people are bearing Osakwe instead of Osakue doesn't make the name igboid. Its just spelling differences and doesn't change a thing.

Now let's take a deeper look into the name "Osakwe"

Looking at this name, every good student of Nigerian culture and language will recognize the name is of Edoid origin and not igboid.

First the prefix "osa" is mainly used by Edoid groups in their names especially those who speak Edo language and it means God. Hence majority of those in Nigeria whose names begin or end with "osa" are from Edo state or speak an Edoid language.

On the other hand igbos and igboid group uses the prefix "Chi" and "chukwu" in their names as their own prefix and it also means God. So you find many igbo names with like Chidinma, chukwudi, Chinonso etc.

This gives another perspective on the origin of that name. Everything is not arguement, just learn and move on.

First, Ojukwu used what he has (which is his father's wealth and eastern people's money) to fight the war not ijo money. If ijoh has money then why didn't adaka borow make use of it to fight and defend his newly found republic then? why did he allow the republic to fall under 10days only for him to die like a chicken?

Secondly, Ojukwu hire white machineries to help him fight not to make weapons. And the reason behind Ojukwus hiring of white machineries is because, he noticed that the war is longer between biafra and the nigerian state only. the war escalated to world war3 in disguise.

The deadly bomb or missile known as ogbunigwe and rest of the weapons including amoured cars and tanks was manufactured by godian ezekwe and co. Not by any white machinery.

Ojukwu did not fight that war with weapons belonging to the nigerian state because there were little or no weapon left in eastern region then that was why at the early state of the war Ojukwu solders was seen fighting with cutlass and sticks no wonder they say necessity is the mother of invention.

Boro of cursed memory is nothing but a weak sadist that chose to pick up a fight with his brothers instead of his real enemies. Hate and foolishness blinded and led him to his early grave with nothing to show for it. and may I remind you that borow did not fight for ND republic he only fought for ijoh republic.

The lies you're trying so hard to sell to me cannot fly because I am among the people who know that for years now the nigerian state and many propagandists has been working tirelessly to put Igbos in bad light but thank God for internet.

As far as there is no recorded history of war between Ijoh and Igbo simply means that there was never a time ijohs were capturing Igbos as slaves because, it is only when you're defeated in war that such thing can happen. since the history of the world, its only the act of war that can lead to the capture of young males and females even married women to slavery.

Lastly, it is recorded in history that it is only the great Igbos and the binis that fought and gave the british tough time for a whole 32yrs which ijoh no even near.

Rest mr liar!
you have finally mixed lies with ignorance in write ups....u try,,dooh...but next time go lie to abokis nor be we Ijaws wey know pass una by far.

Ojukwu never used his father wealth but Ijaw oil money.
ojukwu father does not have that kind of money to prosecute such war..
it was oloibiri oil money which was cornered by evil men like michael Okpara and ojukwu that were used for the war......everyone know this except the ignorant ibo youths which you and cownu have brainwashed with mighty lies

The name is Adaka Boro not borow mr hater.
Hatred on Boro will not make you spell his name well.

Boro made a great and Godly fight that he was rewarded with the creation of rivers state out of the demonic ibo dominated east....that's why Rivers state will never forget Boro,,,,the immortalized him with many things,,,,like Boro park at rivers state...Boro university in Bayelsa...Boro college in Bayelsa....Boro day, a big celebration in the niger delta every may 16....so many people named their children Boro....every agitation in Ijaw land is called Adaka Boro struggle.....IYC is too is Adaka Boro.....what a great man!! No man death or alive is more honoured like Adaka Boro..

Boro is the most honoured man on this earth apart from Jesus and mohamed......Boro is the 3rd savior behind Jesus and mohamed.

Ijaws captured igbos and sold them to the white men,,,no sane person denied this fact,,,so I don't have to waste argue it with you, because you know it yourself.

Now to your ignorant part:
Ijaws were the first to fight the europeans... don't be so ignorant that you only know the ones that are shouting on roof top like the benin one.
how possible is it that British will get to the upland binis without first defeating Ijaws? or will they jumped over Ijaw to go meet binis? or you don't know geography location?

Few Ijaw fight with europeans: Kolokuma Youths led by a warlord called by Bekekala vs british forces.............not to talk of the later fights like:
Nembe vs British.
King Jaja vs british.

but, if I may ask, how did ibos fight the british?
this is a lie sold to you by cownu
Politics / Re: Tears In Biafra Land As Ijaws Join Referendum Suit In Abuja,,, Video by enemybulldozer(m): 11:55am On Apr 30, 2023

you are confused in putting your lies..

First: ojukwu used Ijaw oil money 💰 in the name of eastern government budget to prosecuted the war.
Ojukwu used Ijaw oil money in the name of eastern government money to hired white machineries to come trained his soldiers how to make weapons and other tactics..

ojukwu used weapons belong to nigeria of eastern to fight the war.

so have you seen how it goes?
Boro who was not even position holder used his own money to fight full country with little arms..
Boro sold his properties to afford the fight.
If Boro had got half of the advantage of criminal ojukwu, nothing could stop niger delta republic.

Now back to the main topic.
Ijaws were never taken as slaves for once as you want to line a lie.

Europeans who came to today nigeria, came through the sea and first met Ijaws.
Ijaws stressed them,,,Ijaws worried them for many years before they finally settled down,,,Ijaws fight them a lot,,,,,infact it took the europeans 100% efforts to defeat and silent the Ijaws.

so because of how the Ijaws disturb them and gave them run of their money,,,the europeans tend to work with the Ijaws and not not by using force.....they do business with Ijaws very well it makes Ijaws to be wealthy at then.

infact, it was the many fights Ijaws gave the british that made them to use indirect rule system in nigeria and not the forceful pattern of french against other africa countries.

The british don't want to experience again in other part of nigeria of what they experienced in meeting the Ijaws,,,,,so they decided to uses negotiation with the Yorubas and northerners and not force..

Some of the business of the europeans with the Ijaws was slave trading..
The reason, it was difficult to for Ijaw to capture Ijaw make it possible on the Igbo side.
So that was how Ijaws initially went to upland and captured Igbos and sold them to the whites...after forceful capturing, it became buying as capturing became difficult, because all Igbos ran to hiding that you see no one to captured......the british really used Ijaws in dirty games..
but, today, I don't think it dirty game.
The fact remains that you are the confused lying machine here.

First, Ojukwu used what he has (which is his father's wealth and eastern people's money) to fight the war not ijo money. Politics / PDP Wins All 32 Seats In Rivers State House Of Assembly by RiversMirror: 9:51am On Mar 22, 2023
The People's Democratic Party (PDP) under the leadership of Governor Nyesom Wike; has swept all the 32 seats in Rivers State House of Assembly in a historic landslide victory over any opposition in the state's political history.

The PDP is the incumbent party and among the eighteen political parties that participated in the just concluded State Assembly elections.

The election had earlier been postponed from March 11, to March 18,2023.

The postponement was due to the commission’s inability to promptly commence reconfiguration of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines utilized during the February 25 presidential election to enable their use in the state elections.

INEC was earlier restrained from tampering with the information embedded in the BVAS machines until due inspection was conducted and Certified True Copies (CTC) issued to candidates who are challenging the outcome of the presidential election.

After the conduct of the election on Saturday, March 18, and collation of results in the affected units on Saturday, the PDP has officially won in all the state constituencies, leaving no room for any opposition party in the State Assembly.

The results were announced by the Returning Officers of the 32 constituencies.

Politics / Imo: Mbaise Youths Say No Going Back On Support For Sam Anyanwu, Reject Ihedioha by mafasito: 10:42pm On Jan 09, 2023
Youths in Mbaise, Imo State, have reiterated their support for Samuel Anyanwu, National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as their preferred candidate, abandoning Emeka Ihedioha ahead of the 2023 Imo governorship election.

Reiterating their decision in a statement made available to Peoples Gazette on Monday, the youths accused Mr Ihedioha of “threatening and bribing people” to counter their endorsement of Senator Anyanwu for the Imo governorship.

In the statement signed by ezekwe Chilaka (Ezinihitte Mbaise), Anaele Onuoha (Ahiazu Mbaise) and Tobechukwu Ogbonna (Aboh Mbaise), the youths said Mr Anyanwu was declared the sole candidate for the governorship seat by Mr Ihedioha’s kinsmen.

They accused the former governor and House of Representatives deputy speaker of resorting to media blackmail to denounce the endorsement of Mr Anyanwu, adding that they were “tired of his (Ihedioha) political dominance, greed and selfishness.”

The endorsement comes as the PDP’s governorship ticket continues to cause a divide among party members in the build up to the state’s governorship election.

On January 14, 2020, Mr Ihedioha and the PDP lost the governorship seat to now Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC), when the Supreme Court declared Mr Uzodimma as the winner of the 2019 governorship election.

Health / Sandsclinic Partners Abia Govt For Telehealth In HIV Treatment by Archmend: 2:15pm On Dec 22, 2022
Succour, as SandsClinic partners Abia govt for telehealth in HIV treatment
By Okechukwu Ohuizu- December 1, 2022028

By Okorie Chizoba

Anew dawn awaits People Living with HIV in Abia State, as a new means of treatment that solves all manner of stigmatization is now in place.

This new treatment called Telehealth comes as a result of the partnership between a telemedicine company, SandsClinic and the Abia State government aimed at providing telehealth-specific services to people living with HIV (PLHIV) in the State.

From left. Mr Noel Nnayelu, Chief of Operations SandsClinic, Mr Chairman Campaign Committe for Prof Ikunne the PDP gubernatorial Candidate Abia State, Dr Mrs. Miriam ezekwe South East Zonal Coordinator NACA, Dr. Ehiemere- Executive Secretary Abia State SACA, Barrister Mrs. Ehiemere, Oscar Mbone, GM SandsClinic.
Exact News gathered that what this means is that, people living with HIV in Abia now have access to medical professionals, without meeting physically, at no cost to them.

Exact News also learnt that SandsClinic’s which has the aim of providing convenient and affordable healthcare that saves customers time so that they can face family and other things have brought privacy and quick service-driven innovation into the treatment of HIV that has not been seen before.

The Chief Operations Officer of SandsClinic, Noel Nnayelu explained that the firm’s Telehealth HIV programme is aimed at using technology to mitigate the problems of accessibility, stigmatisation and discrimination currently faced by people living with HIV.

Nnayelu said this while addressing journalists at a dinner, organised, by the Abia State Agency for the Control of AIDS (ABSACA) in Umuahia to mark the 2022 “World’s AIDS Day”.

He explained that SandsClinic has designed a digital interphase that connects patients with medical practitioners and enables them to communicate their underlying health issues.

Equalise to end AIDS
He said that the digital interphase will thereby enable the patients to receive immediate attention from highly trained medical professionals without delay.

Nnayelu further stated that the firm’s web app provides the technical capacity to enable remote audio and video consultations between doctor to patient and between doctor to doctor.

He said the web app can enable professional and patient-centred medical records, appointments for physical consultation for vaccination and hospitalisation, and electronic prescription (E-prescription) with real-time pharmacy communication, among others.

Nnayelu observed that the SandsClinic/ Abia partnership, which is a pilot model would eliminate stigma and discrimination, and create access to specialists in the various fields, including guaranteed privacy and confidentiality that would allow PLHIV to get the necessary psychiatric support they might need.

“This programme will offer more convenient access to follow-up care, specialists for faster diagnosis, telemedicine treatment and quicker interventions.

“This will further enable healthcare facilities to deal with less traffic, fewer readmissions, complications, reduce impatient, thereby reducing higher costs in treatment and services leading to massive savings.”

Dr Okechukwu Ehiemere, project manager/executive secretary, ABSACA, said that HIV is no longer a death sentence and urged carriers to do away with stigma and discrimination of any kind.

He observed that the takeaway from the theme of 2022; World’s AIDS Day, which is “Equalise to end AIDS’, is that HIV AIDS is no longer a death sentence.

Ehiemere urged PLHIV to avail themselves of treatment and live their normal lives, adding that PLHIV have to take it out of their system and do not need to wait for someone to do it for them.

“So why should we discriminate and stigmatise ourselves? Be positive and show who you are. This is no longer the time to hide and people no longer die as they used to die in the past. After today, be positive. You have to show yourselves and be proud of who you are and be happy. Drugs are available, services are available free of charge,” he said.

Ehiemere announced that the Abia State Government’s efforts at getting more PLHIV into treatment are paying off as about 42,000 out of 58,000 carriers are currently receiving treatment, against 11,000 in 2021.

He said that out of that 42,000, about 8,000 had been virally suppressed, stressing that this is no longer the time to hide and people no longer die as they used to die in the past.

Ehiemere said that ABSACA has submitted a bill on the domestication and stigmatisation law to the State House of Assembly, which according to him has passed first and second readings and is now at the committee stage and promised that the law will be domesticated in the State before mid, 2023.

He thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for increasing the number of facilities offering HIV services, noting that the number of primary healthcare centres offering HIV services has increased to over 1,108 as against the low number we had before.

Politics / Re: Peter Obi Should Forget About Presidency, You Can Never Win - IPOB by AyakaDunukofia: 7:04pm On Jun 08, 2022
Mazisimonekpa:
The Biafra people can’t exchange our freedom over presidential ambition of Peter Obi. Peter Obi should go & rest, keep whatever he have to offer & wait for Biafra. If he think we are joking, when the time come, we will know what Biafra people actually want. No election is a task

https://twitter.com/simon_ekpa/status/1534420795988103168

Look at the idioot, Ekpa, who says he's got a law degree and yet could not write a correct sentence. I don't know why my people are listening to him. IPOB is hurting my people and their livelihood especially in my Anambra state.

This is not the Biafra which the founding fathers; Generals Ojukwu, Effiong; Colonels Nwawo, Achuzia; Rear Admiral Anukwu, Justice Louis Mbanefo, Frank Opigo, Prof. Eni Njoku, Dr Ibiam, Chris Okigbo, the Ogbunigwe scientists Felix Oragwu and Prof. Godian ezekwe etc. envisioned.

IPOB must retreat and reappraise their message and methods. In the same vein, should create the peace of mind for Ndigbo to exercise their universal suffrage in an entity they're politically being extinct.

Politics / Only The Best Is Good Enough For Abia State - Prof. Ukonne by IbileIfe: 1:03pm On Jun 03, 2022
2023: Professor Ikonne Sets to Adjust Abia's Sail

- By Chief Maxwell Kanu.

In the words of the American author, John Maxwell, "the pessimist complains about the wind. The optimist expects it to change. The leader adjusts the sails.”

Professor Uche Ukonne perfectly fits into Maxwell's definition of a leader.

His emergence as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP's gubernatorial flagbearer is indeed a trigger for a new Abia.

Professor Ikonne's expected victory in next year's gubernatorial polls will be a fitting, proper and deserving call to service, a call to reinvent Abia by recalibrating its economy and infrastructure.

He is not coming to learn on the job.A consumate administrator and academic colossus, Professor Ikonne is eminently qualified, prepared and equipped with innovative ideas with  which he will be adjusting Abia's sail for the better when he becomes governor next year.

His exhilarating performance as the Vice Chancellor of Abia state University still resonates.

Like a goldfish, Professor Ikonne has no hiding place. It is not therefore, a surprise that the PDP spotted him and saddled him with the task of deepening Abia's socio-economic and infrastructural ascendancy.

It is obvious that the party recognises  a competent leader, a doer and an achiever when it see one. For sure, the PDP sees one in Professor Ikonne.

With a plethora of youth and women organisations, civil society groups, academics and religious leaders as well as traditional rulers routing for him, Professor Ikonne is the man to beat in the 2023 Abia guber contest.

Born in Agburuike, Nsulu in Isiala Ngwa North, Abia State, Professor Ikonne's academic career spans over three decades.

He attended  Ngwa High School, in Aba  and later proceeded to Manila Central University, Philippines to study Optometry.

He also holds specialist master's degree programme in Hospital Administration at St. Jude College, also in the Philippines. On his return to Nigeria in 1985, Professor Ikonne served as consulting optometrist at the Park Lane General Hospital, Enugu, and was later to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Environmental Health Science from Abia State University.

In an ironic twist of fate, he would in later years, serve the University as Vice Chancellor.

From 2010 to 2014, Ikonne served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Abia State University and was seconded to Abia State Polytechnic, Aba as Rector on what was described as  Rescue  Mission.

Upon returning to the University, he was appointed its 7th Substantive Vice-Chancellor in December 2015.

He also attained the following positions:

Head, Department of Optometry – Abia State University.

Director, Institute for Distance Education, Abia State University.

Acting Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences, Abia State University.

Deputy Provost, College of Medicine & Health Sciences, Abia State University.

Professor Ikonne is a member of several professional bodies and has sat on many professional and academic Boards and Committees including:

Member, Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria from 1993 to date

Chairman of the Education Committee, 1993 to date

Chairman, Disciplinary Committee, 2007 to date

Vice-Chairman, Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria, 2009 to date. He was also Registrar, Nigerian Postgraduate College of Optometrists.

Professor Ikonne has in his kitty, an avalanche of awards including,  the African Optometric Educator Award of the year 2003 and the Distinguished Meritt Award of the Nigerian Optometric Association, 2006.

If elected governor next year, Professor Ikonne will join the list of erudite academics, especially Professor who were/are in partisan politics and who offered quality leadership and contributed immensely to national development.

The roll call include the second Republic governor of the defunct Bendel state, the late Prof Ambrose Alli, former Education Minister,

Professor Jibril Aminu, Former Vice Chancellor of ABU, Processor Ango Abdulahi, Late Minister of Petroleum, Professor Tam David West, Former Health Minister, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, Former Health Minister, Onikoye Ransom-Kuti, Former Education Minister, late Professor  Babs Fafuwa, Former Minister for Science and Technology, late Professor Godion ezekwe, incumbent Governor of Borno state, Professor Zulum among others.
