Lagos State signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA), an agency responsible for the control and regulation of advertisement displays in Lagos State, has announced the launch of its 2022 mobile advert stickers.

Managing Director of LASAA, Prince Adedamola Docemo, in a statement released in Ikeja yesterday, said the agency would not use the traditional ceremony for this year’s launch, noting that with the launch, “The 2022 mobile advert sticker will be in force effective January 2022, hence the 2021 sticker will become invalid from January 1, 2022 as all mobile advert stickers will expire on December 31, 2021.”

He explained that the launch is “To review and redefine the mobile advert sticker product and use the opportunity to holistically assess the process for better performance.”

Prince Docemo disclosed that the 2022 sticker has been upgraded with a QR code scanner application, which is readable with a simple smartphone. According to him, “The sticker has been enhanced with internal control mechanism, which comes with a hologram-finish and specialised bar codes with serial numbers.”

He said the improved security features of the sticker have anti-counterfeit properties, which run on a robust and secure database platform, an authentication system against fraud.

Prince Docemo explained that this layer of security measure is to ease confirmation and quicken the process of compliance for clients. Stay ONLY on the extreme left if you are turning left. The MIB gisting innocently by their traffic cubicle are codedly watching out for this.

Don't run the light for any reason. if you are coming from clinic road.

If you are coming from Ikorodu road, jibowu axis, heading to Herbert macuulay way, i.e, you are heading towards clinic road.

The road splits into 3 lanes
If you are going straight or turning left (to Harvey road, University road, Onike, iwaya) Avoid the lane on the extreme left. Maintain the middle lane.

Rule : Don't be absent minded, avoid the lane on the extreme left. You maintain this arrangement till you get to Sabo. /commercial avenue traffic junction. After you cross Sabo traffic junction, this enforcement ceases.

But maintaining left lane most times, will save u.

But sometimes the boys will steal Oga’s money or goods or even use their own accounts to receive payments meant for oga’s account.
That’s against the codes of the trade.

Some will open accounts secretly and hide away big phones that are permanently on silence mode. They use it at night without OGA’s knowledge.

Some smarter ones open accounts for their relations and friends and stash money there that can never be traced by oga.

Some open accounts with false names and save so much money. When they are settled with N2m, they go and do name change and become big boys overnight.

Some Ogas also overdo the thing. They accuse you falsely around the 5th -7th year when you are due for settlement and send you back with nothing. Even if you stay, there will be a lot of mistrust. And to make matters worse, some will collect back all your SIM cards so you don’t ever contact their key customers and convert to your own. But trust the smart boys, they start writing down every phone number in books ahead of time.

However a good number of Ogas had done well, settled their boys well, opened shops close to theirs for them, allow them still sleep in their houses for a while until they balance well, allow them come to their shop with customers and claim it is their second shop, offer credits to the boys who sell and refund later, and some even allow the boys use their company names as subsidiaries on their invoices and signage just to encourage them.

Some of the boys treated well end up growing large and even supporting the old oga when OGA’s hand is no longer “financially strong”.

Only area left is the role some madams play in all of these.

There are instances were some nwaboys went awol or ran away from ogas house due to the wickedness and overbearing attitudes of their madam, they couldn't endure any longer so they had to pack out secretly and leave their ogas house even without touching or taking a single dime from ogas money.

I'm a witness to an incidence like that just about 2months ago. In this case, it was the 2 umu boy that ran away, the wife literarily pursued them.

The oga was gracious and honest enough to confirm that not even a Kobo of his money was missing

Some ogas are so weak that their wives more or less dictates how things are done in the shop or house, even when it's against their wish.

Their wives are more controlling, domineering, aggressive, insensitive as if they're the ones marrying the man. Sometimes they shout or maltreat umu boy even in the presence of the oga and the mumu man will be there without action or saying anything instead he'll just be looking like a castrated donkey

I since came to the conclusion that the problem confronting many Nigerians is ignorance/lack of (access to) proper information/refusal to be abreast of current happenings.

During that mandatory N50 charge on every POS transaction & the subsequent decision to reverse same following widespread outcry against the policy, I was in Lagos then & I remember visiting this pharmacy to purchase a particular medication & when I gave the cashier my debit card during checkout, she included N50 to the original cost of the medication & when I asked why, she pointed at a printed mgt statement informing all customers of the CBN directive to charge each POS transaction N50.

I refused. I told her it was N50 which wasn't a big deal but I wasn't going to pay because same policy had been reversed by the CBN. Thereafter, I informed her if N50 policy that had already been canceled was going to hinder our transaction, she should keep the medication. Na so she comot the illegal charge & I paid.

I won't even mention the most recent one where I sent some "hungry" AMAC tax/levy collectors running away in shame after they'd almost succeeded in extorting our business of over N46,000 in the name of "signage permit". All it took was sourcing for the proper information online & when I confronted them with it, people who had been harassing our staff & threatening to seal our premises for days hurriedly left & since then, never returned.

The first statement is so true.

Sometimes Gmap misbehave and tells you to exit the roundabout to go to Apapa road., in this wise, the Apapa road, I'm talking about is the one at Ebute- Metta, ( the road that directly leads you to Oyingbo).

Let's say , you mistakenly took the 1st exit on the roundabout instead of the 3rd, ( and you just discovered, you were supposed to take 3rd exit, and not the 1st.

1st exit - Abebe village road, surulere, festac, Apapa, orile bound.

2nd exit - Eko bridge. VI, island, Lekki bound.

3rd exit- Apapa road, Ebute meta.

Often,those two short road stretches are often empty periodically (so an inexperienced driver won't have vehicles to use to determine the direction of traffic). He/She might likely become a victim of the lapses of the LASG traffic signage unit.
