Politics / Re: LP, PDP Kick As US Report Says 2023 Poll Reflected Nigerians’ Will by emkz: 11:02am On Apr 26
emkz:
Still on grace. Some leaders became Nigerian leaders with minimum effort.

In the 60s, the leader of the opposition preferred to be a regional head and sent someone else to be prime minister.

After northern elements ousted Aguiyi-Ironsi, they picked a young Berom christian who was not even a General to be Head of State. The guy who took over from him did not stay long, but the new leader was in hiding when he was brought to take the seat. In 1979, an unknown teacher won the election over heavy hitters.

Let us skip to 1993. Since 1966, one name was prominent in coup circles. He received the best training but messed up when he got the seat. Then in 1999, someone on death row was brought out of jail and made president. After him, a taciturn, politically tactless fellow was made president with a quiet unknown deputy. Within 3 years, the quiet deputy took the seat. In 2015, a man previously hated for alleged religious bigotry won the seat. After him, someone who was mocked, insulted, and cursed by those who hated him won the seat.

To balance the conversation, it is the same seat many worked, lived for, died for and died in. Someone even won the election and all strings were pulled to prevent him from taking the seat. Another person has been contesting it years before many nairalanders creating silly topics were born.

One thing is clear: there is a powerful force guiding who leads Nigeria. In some cases, the lowly, the rejected, the hated, the weak are picked. Yet we mock.

Has our mockery changed anything?

My advise to everyone: Be there for people. Help as much as you can. Fight for others. Stand for the things you believe in. Stay true to your convictions.

Such is life.

For those wondering why I share the comments above, many did not want Tinubu to win.

That is why he won. His party was against him, many were against him as they blamed him for Buhari's failures. He himself did not expect to win the primaries or the elections. He was afraid on the day of the primaries. We could see it. During the primaries, his hands were visibly shaking as he struggled to read.

He was mocked.

Then something began. Akpabio gave a glowing speech praising himself and stepped down for Tinubu. The one that shocked me the most was Tinubu's arch-enemy, Ibikunle Amosun, who step down for Tinubu. Those who didn't stepped down were down-stepped in the primary elections.

The man himself said he didn't expect to win.

On the day of the election, Tinubu was exhausted and clearly afraid. The confidence was gone (see pictires below). He didn't cut the confidence of a person who believed he could win the elections, unlike the others who went into elections with foolish confidence.

He was mocked yet again.

I heard one newspaper even preprinted a headline to mock him hoping he'd lose with the words: "Tinubu finally lulehs". It was the newspaper and TV station that showed the greatest bias towards Tinubu and mocked him the most.

Then results of Lagos came out. Tinubu was mocked. Osun came out, he was mocked. FCT came out, he was mocked. Southeast states came out, he was further mocked for not even scoring up to 5000 votes in one state and getting zero %. In the estimation of the exigent masturbatory lovers of Nigeria, the elections in those states were free and fair.

Then results from core Yoruba states showed up starting with Ekiti. The devil in Dino Melaye wanted to take over, but he was stopped. Ondo showed, Ogun, and Oyo. People's songs changed.

Yobe results followed, a core APC state and Atiku took it. Then Gombe went to Atiku. Katsina came out and Atiku defeated Tinubu. People started bracing up for an Atiku presidency.

From out of nowhere, Niger state results came out, and told Tinubu: "we gat you". Many did not know Tinubu had long ties to Borgu in Niger State. As we were waiting Plateau came out and went to Obi. Benue showed up and went to Tinubu. Other states showed up, including Kebbi, where Atiku narrowly defeated Tinubu. Atiku took Sokoto, but zamfara stood strong for Tinubu. Tinubu only won one local government area in Kaduna State. Atiku's minions started celebrating. Note that Obi was non existent in the northwest.

The results that completely ruined Atiku's chances came from Kano where Atiku came a distant 3rd! At that point, the elections were over.

Goodluck Jonathan was sidelined and mocked by Yar'adua's henchmen. Within a year, he became president and went further to win the elections.

Finally, the chosen ones are not usually the popular ones. Mind who you mock today, because you have no control over tomorrow.

Politics / Boko Haram Sacks Military Camp In Niger, Bandits Attack Emir In Zamfara by treesun: 9:45am On Apr 26
Many feared dead; residents flee Niger communities
•Security agents whisk Emir away to safety in Gusau
By Wole Mosadomi & Idris Salisu

Minna- Suspected Boko Haram insurgents yesterday sacked the military base at Allawa town in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, as residents fled communities in the area to avoid being shot or kidnapped.

This came as bandits also yesterday attacked the palace of the emir of Zurmi, Alhaji Mohammed Bunu, but failed to kidnap him as he was whisked away to the state capital, Gusau, by security agents.

The Niger incident was said to have happened at about 1:30 am, as the insurgents “invaded the town on motorcycles with not less than three on each bike fully armed. They were said to have numbered about 200.

Our correspondent reliably gathered that the armed men must have embarked on a reprisal mission after the military neutralized about fifty of them in a fierce battle in the area last week.

An eyewitness in the area who pleaded for anonymity, also told our correspondent that a greater number of the insurgents stormed the military camp and sacked those on duty, while others invaded Allawa town and rained bullets on houses.

Cash, foodstuffs and other handy valuables were carted away from the residents of the town and other adjourning villages.
At press time yesterday, the number of casualties recorded in the village and on the side of the military and the terrorists could not be ascertained.

“There was a fierce battle between the insurgents and the military and it was around 1:30 am. It lasted for some hours.
“Because it was midnight, the number of casualties could not be ascertained,” the eyewitness said.

The military camp, it was also gathered, had been deserted by the military personnel deployed to the area.
Consequently, residents of Allawa town and adjourning communities, such as Pandogari, Kukoki, and Bassa among others, have started fleeing the area to safe grounds.

Just last week, suspected Boko Haram members ambushed and killed two military officers and four soldiers at Karaga in the same Shiroro Local Government Area.

Efforts to get confirmation and response to the issue from the state police command through the spokesman, Superintendent of Police Wasiu Abiodun, proved abortive as his number could not be reached.

Similarly, bandits yesterday attacked the palace of the emir of Zurmi, Alhaji Muhammed Bunu, but failed in their bid to abduct him.

A resident of Zurmi, Malam Aminu Sale, told our correspondent in a telephone interview, that the bandits went straight to the emir’s palace and started shooting sporadically.

Security agents whisk Emir away to safety
But, the Emir was whisked away by the security agents to Gusau.

The source said when the bandits could not succeed in abducting the emir, they destroyed one of the transformers and a telecoms mast network booster in the area.

According to the source, the bandits killed three people who were kidnapped during the incident.
He said the bandits, who entered the town at about 11:00 pm on Wednesday, also attacked the house of a former Military Administrator of Nasarawa State, Col Bala Mande, retd.

“We, the residents of Zurmi town, have witnessed a terrible situation in the bandits’ attacks. This is not the first time the bandits have entered Zurmi town, it is not the second time.

“Similarly, the bandits again on Wednesday night, attacked Maru town, the headquarters of Maru Local Government Council where they killed one person and kidnapped three people,” a resident of Maru town, who identified himself as Aminu Maru, told our correspondent on telephone.

According to him, the bandits spent more than two hours operating in the town without confrontation.

iwaeda:
Bandits have attacked the palace of the Emir of Zurmi, Alhaji Bello Muhammad Bunu, killing three people and abducting some residents of the town.

The bandits, who stormed the town around 10pm on Wednesday, according to locals, also attacked the residence of the former Military Administrator of Nasarawa State, Colonel Bala Muhammad Mande (rtd).

Traveling across Quang Binh to stunning cinematic locations

While Col. Mande, a former minister of environment under Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration was not in the house, Emir Bunu was in the palace when the bandits launched the attack, Daily Trust learnt.

During the attack, the bandits also destroyed a GSM mast and burnt two generating sets located adjacent the emir’s palace.

A resident of the town who pleaded anonymity, told our reporter that upon their arrival in the town, the bandits went straight to the emir’s place and opened fire at the entrance gate in their efforts to gain access.

He said: “Gladly, the gate was locked, otherwise they would have gained access into the palace and probably reached the emir’s apartment. He was the main target because they attempted to kidnap him not long ago.

“In fact, he just returned to the town on Monday after the first attempt to kidnap him failed. The emir was silently moved to the state capital, Gusau, where he spent a week there,” the source said.

Another resident, who also did not want to be named, said when the bandits failed to gain access to the palace, they moved to the residence of the former military administrator and fired several shots at the gate, thereby damaging it.

“On their way out of the town, they killed three people and abducted some others. We don’t know the number of people abducted because when the bandits started the shooting, residents ran into the bush for safety.

“No one dared stay back when the bandits were firing shots. The magnitude of the gunshots was scary, hence, we all ran into the bush for our dear lives.

“We are calling on the government to provide enough soldiers to the town because the bandits may return again since they know the emir is in town. All they want is to abduct the emir and we don’t know why they want to kidnap him,” the resident said.

Another resident, Muhammad Inuwa said he was planning to relocate his family to Gusau as he could not endure the trauma the residents were going through due to attacks by armed bandits.

He said: “I am tired…We are struggling to cope with the economic situation and at the same time battling with banditry. The burden is too much for us to shoulder. I cannot bear it anymore.

“I am contemplating relocating my family to Gusau. At least, if they are in the state capital I can have peace of mind and concentrate on my menial job,” he said.

A father of six, Inuwa, also called on governments to come to their aid by providing them with adequate security personnel that would protect their lives and properties.

Police confirm attack

The Commissioner of Police in zamfara, Muhammad Shehu Dalijan, confirmed the attack but said he was not aware that some people were killed.

CP Dalijan, however, admitted that one of the staff of Zurmi emir’s palace was abducted by the bandits.

“He was not abducted in the palace as being speculated. Rather, he was abducted somewhere within the town.

“I can only confirm the abduction of one person and the burning of GSM service mast,” he said.

Daily Trust reliably gathered that three people: Sarkin Gida of Zurmi Emirate, Alhaji Yusuf Buhari; a local tea seller whose shop is close to the palace and one other person were those abducted by the bandits during the attack.

A relation, who preferred not to be named, said, “Sarkin Gida was not so lucky. He was coming out from the palace when the bandits started firing at the gate. So, when he started running, the bandits shouted at him and asked him to stop.

“They warned him that even if he entered his house, they would follow him inside and abduct him. So, he stopped and they kidnapped him along with the tea seller and one other person,” he said.

It was further learnt that although the bandits did not gain access into the palace, they looted all the properties in the emir’s family house also located adjacent the palace.

Another palace source, who pleaded anonymity, said the attack had shaken the entire members of the royal family, as according to him, “Our concern is the safety of the emir. It appears this time around the bandits wanted to embarrass the entire traditional institution. We will continue praying against them.

“Although we have not received additional security operatives, the personnel of the state-owned Community Protection Guard (CPG) and members of the vigilante group have been mobilised to the palace to protect the emir.”

Daily Trust recalls that Wednesday’s attack on the palace was the second of its kind in zamfara State, as the palace of Emir of Maru, Alhaji Abubakar Gado Maigari, was also attacked by bandits last year.

During the attack, a policeman and a physically challenged person were killed by the bandits.

Every State have their own Intelligent Individuals.
But there are States that made good efforts to increase the mass-intelligence of the people in general.
Anambra Under Peter-Obi was a very good example.
And this is not propaganda.
The progress was reported in the news those days.

Oga their are intelligent people too up not, u can compare imo state to zamfara.. they should stop using our reserve to stabilizer Naira.

this problem can be solved within 2 years if we pay attention to agriculture.

The government should disburse grants to farmers nationwide and setup committee to monitor the grant beneficiaries.

by next harvest, food will be plentiful and their will be food surplus.

It seems all the stories of carnage being visited on farmers by Fulani herdsmen and their variants from Benue to Maiduguri to zamfara to Oyo are all lost on you

So Iran Biko rest , I say rest in Jesus name.

Allah is the highest diety among the Arabian 350 dieties, it's either called sin, or many sin. Allah is not God the creator of heaven and earth. It's a man made god.

They should have convened in zamfara or Katsina the epicenter of danditry. Because clearly the convener has missed the mark. The issue in the Northern Nigeria isn't conflict by definition of the term. It is brazen criminal activities bieng perpetrated against the innocent populace. Now a big business. It's not dissatisfaction or disagreement among parties but sheer act of violence for financial gain nothing more.
