Politics / Terrorists Openly Celebrates Eid-el-fitr In Borno, Zamfara Communities. by Racoon(m): 10:53pm On Apr 13
"Terrorists Release Video Showing Their Eid-El-Fitr Celebration Openly In Large Gathering At zamfara Community."
https://youtube.com/shorts/vDE0vv8WiFI?si=uWVC_h0Wm8jbLttk

Some bandits in large numbers observed this year's Eid-El-Fitr prayers and other festivities in the open in zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria.

The terrorists, who seem to be unperturbed, gathered at the Eid ground in Munhaye town in zamfara on Wednesday to perform the two raka'at prayers to mark the end of Ramadan fast.

In a viral video posted by a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad basin, Zagazola Makama on his X handle, the bandits calmly celebrated Eid-El-Fitr without any visible apprehension. The bandits could be seen with their guns. They reportedly took hours to recite the Quran and also engaged in wild jubilation.

“Bandits in zamfara state have released a new video showing its members celebrating the recent Eid-el-Fitr  festival in Munhaye community in zamfara state,” Zagazola said.

Some Nigerians have taken to their X handles to express displeasure with the terrorists' gathering without being arrested or challenged by police personnel or soldiers.

For instance, Blessed (@BlessedOdoba) tweeted, “There’s no way the community or government securities will not know that they’re gathering.”

@swiss_basquiat wrote: “This is what APC has reduced Nigeria to. A taliban state like Afghanistan.”

Adafi (@opeyemi44238349) tweeted, “Does this mean that an entire village is a bandit group?”

Chado (@realchado) wrote: “The government, security agents, community didn't know they were gathering? This country is so funny.”

ISWAP Terrorists Openly Celebrate Eid Al-Fitr In Borno
The Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād has released pictures of its members celebrating the recent Eid-el-Fitr festival in a yet-to-be-identified section of the Sambisa Forest, Borno State.

Muslims in Nigeria last Wednesday joined their counterparts around the world to celebrate Eid-El-Fitr, signalling the end of the one-month Ramadan fast.

The Nigerian government initially declared Tuesday and Wednesday as a public holiday and later extended it to Thursday. In pictures released by ISWAP, sect members are seen praying in an open field, some with their guns by their side.

The images may be part of the sect’s efforts to counter statements by the Nigerian military that the Islamist insurgent fighters were on a steady retreat, with troops seizing a sizeable territory hitherto occupied and controlled by members of the terrorist sect.

Since the death of JAS leader, Abubakar Shekau, ISWAP has been consolidating its grip in locations around Lake Chad.
But the military has been launching offensives against terrorists and bandits’ positions in North-East and North-West Nigeria.

Last Thursday, SaharaReporters reported that some bandits in large numbers similarly observed this year's Eid-El-Fitr prayers and other festivities in the open in zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria.

The terrorists, who seemed to be unperturbed, gathered at the Eid ground in Munhaye town in zamfara on Wednesday to perform the two raka'at prayers to mark the end of Ramadan fast.

In 2023, as saving governor your people voted massively against you as a result of your sympathy towards bandits!
Unfortunately for Nigerians Bola Tinubu picked you as State minister of Defense to compensate your lost.
Continue challenging your elders for a cheap political aggrandizement, zamfara masses are patiently waiting for you.

Health / Nigeria First To Introduce New Vaccine Against Meningitis – WHO by ManirBK: 5:45pm On Apr 13
Nigeria has become the first country in the world to roll out a
new vaccine – Men5CV – recommended by the World Health
Organisation (WHO), to protect people against meningitis.
The world health body, in a statement on Friday, said that the
vaccine would protect people against five strains of
meningococcus bacteria, and described Nigeria’s feat as
historic.
It said that health workers would begin an immunisation
campaign aimed at reaching one million people.
The statement said that the vaccine and emergency
vaccination activities are funded by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance,
which funds the global meningitis vaccine stockpile and
supports lower-income countries with routine vaccination
against meningitis.
According to the WHO, Nigeria is one of the 26 meningitis
hyper-endemic countries of Africa, situated in the area known
as the African Meningitis Belt.
It noted that in 2023, there was a 50 per cent jump in annual
meningitis cases reported across Africa.
“In Nigeria, an outbreak of Neisseria meningitidis
(meningococcus) serogroup C outbreak, led to 1,742
suspected meningitis cases, including 101 confirmed cases
and 153 deaths in seven of 36 Nigerian states, between
October 2023 and March 2024.
The states are Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina,
Yobe, zamfara.
“To quell the deadly outbreak, a vaccination campaign was
undertaken on 25–28 March 2024 to initially reach more than
one million people aged 1-29 years,” it said.
The statement noted that meningitis was a serious infection
that leads to the inflammation of the membranes (meninges),
that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
“There are multiple causes of meningitis, including viral,
bacterial, fungal and parasitic pathogens.
“Symptoms often include headache, fever and stiff neck.
Bacterial meningitis is the most serious, and can also result in
septicaemia (blood poisoning). It can seriously disable or kill
within 24 hours,” the statement added.
It quoted Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General, as
saying that meningitis was an old and deadly foe, adding that
the new vaccine holds the potential to change the trajectory of
the disease, preventing future outbreaks and saving many
lives.
“Nigeria’s rollout brings us one step closer to our goal of
eliminating meningitis by 2030,” Ghebreyesus said.
He said that the revolutionary new vaccine offers a powerful
shield against the five major strains of the meningococcal
bacteria – A, C, W, Y and X – in a single shot.
All five strains cause meningitis and blood poisoning.
According to him, this provides broader protection than the
current vaccine used in much of Africa, which is only effective
against the A strain.
He said that the new vaccine has the potential to significantly
reduce meningitis cases and advance progress in defeating
meningitis.
“This is especially important for countries like Nigeria where
multiple serogroups are prevalent.
“The new vaccine uses the same technology as the meningitis
A conjugate vaccine (MenAfriVac®), which wiped out
meningococcal A epidemics in Nigeria,” the WHO boss said.
The statement quoted Prof. Muhammad Pate, Nigeria’s
Minister of Health and Social Welfare, as saying that Northern
Nigeria, particularly the states of Jigawa, Bauchi and Yobe,
were badly hit by the deadly outbreak of meningitis.
“This vaccine provides health workers with a new tool to both
stop this outbreak and also put the country on a path to
elimination,” Pate said.
According to him, Nigeria has done a lot of work preparing
health workers and the health system for the rollout of the new
vaccine. (NAN)

Politics / Only The Blind Will Say Tinubu Has Failed – Matawalle by Fareke: 2:38pm On Apr 13
By Idowu Isamotu

Anyone mistakenly seeing President Bola Tinubu as a failure or a weakling is either blind or misguided and unable to see the new Nigeria that is emerging, according to Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence.

He said this while responding to the threat that the North might vote against Tinubu in 2027.

Daily Trust had reported that the forum, through its spokesman, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman expressed regrets that the region voted for Tinubu during 2023, noting that going forward, the region will prioritize unity and consensus in selecting a candidate for the highest office in the land.

But the immediate past governor of zamfara State described the forum as a “political burden”, insisted that NEF is not, and can never speak for the region.

He added that he and other leaders would not allow “some elements” to bring Northern region into disrepute.

In a statement on Saturday, Matawalle wondered why many people overlooked what he termed “overbearing attitude” of the forum on issues that affect political unity and cohesion of the country.

"This NEF is more of a political burden to Northerners. The group is seeking to erode other people’s rights in order to be recognised or made relevant in the scheme of things despite the failure of their sponsored candidates in the 2023 general elections.”

“In as much as many have overlooked them in respect of their utterances, it is pertinent to underscore their overbearing attitude on issues that affect political unity and cohesion.

"They cannot offer any positive idea or thought about the future of Northern Nigeria or, indeed, of Nigeria and its unity and togetherness.

“We all know President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR won the February 2023 presidential election convincingly. So, who is the NEF to want to undermine the president’s victory and even threaten to unseat him?”

The group is yet to visit any of the ministers dealing with issues of security, agriculture, water resources, police affairs, education, health, budget, foreign affairs or any head of security agencies in the country so far for first hand knowledge of government programs and actions. ”

“The majority of them are more interested in faulting the government so as to be recognised or accorded some relevance.

"Our region, the North, is united, disciplined and politically-driven enough not to listen and accept being teleguided by any group of elites who had fed fat in the past on the North’s resources and opportunities which had retarded development in the region and nation due to their selfishness.

“President Tinubu is poised to do a lot for the North as President of Nigeria, elected by the people of Nigeria, not by one ethnic group or the other, therefore, anyone mistakenly seeing President Tinubu as a failure or a weakling is making a mistake and should rethink.

"Such a person or group is either blind or misguided and unable to see the new Nigeria that is emerging. Therefore, the NEF’s statement allegedly expressing regret for voting for President Tinubu is unfortunate.

“NEF is not more than a group that has refused to accept reality and is living in delusion. The truth is that the North is proud of its support and vote for President Tinubu and will continue to be proud of her relationship with the President given the enormous change and development his government has brought to the region.”

Politics / Ijaw Cry Out Over Invasion, arrest Of Prominent Leaders By Soldiers by coputa(m): 6:17am On Apr 13
VANGUARD NEWS

PORT Harcourt: The Ijaw ethnic nationality in the Niger Delta yesterday raised alarm over the invasion of the homes of prominent Ijaw leaders and sons, and the arrest of some without proper explanation by the Nigerian Army.

An Ijaw leader, Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, and the Ijaw Youths Council, IYC, who screamed on the development, said things were getting out of hand, citing how the Army invaded the home of a former governorship candidate of the National Rescue Movement, NRM, in Rivers State, Sobomoba Jackrich, popularly known as Egberipapa.

Calling for his immediate release, they said soldiers whisked him away after killing two of his aides in the early hours of Monday, when they stormed his Usukon country home in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State,

Chief Sara-Igbe, said: “We have not got any details but the police confirmed that he is with one of the security agencies. We do not know which security agency they referred to.

“We do not want to assume anything. The police stated that a security agency had arrested him. We do not know which security agency. We do not also know what crime he committed. If he committed any crime, hand him over for prosecution or release him.”

Sara-Igbe, a former spokesperson of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, warned: “If anything happens to Egberipapa, we will hold the police accountable.”

Similarly, Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, vowing that Ijaw would not play second fiddle in the country, said: “We have sacrificed a lot towards the growth and development of this country and need not be treated as a conquered people.
”In the last few months, Ijaw lands and her prominent leaders have been invaded, harassed, arrested and embarrassed for whatever strange reasons by the military that the Ijaw people are yet to know.”

Spokesperson of IYC, Binebai Yerin Princewill, said the group received distress calls on how military men in vans and armored personnel carriers stormed the Osokun residence of Amb. Sobomabo Jackrich in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, wherein they killed two people, Jackrich was arrested and taken to an unknown destination.

“Nigeria is not a banana republic, Nigeria is a country governed by laws; whatever we do must be within the ambit of the law, and those meant to protect the law must not be seen breaking the law.

“Too many Ijaw leaders and critical stakeholders have been killed, harassed, and humiliated in the past few weeks that we are yet to know the reasons behind such attacks and invasions.’

“While the Ijaw Youth Council will continue to champion peace movements in Nigeria and Niger Delta. we will not forget to draw our attention to certain events similar to the Okuama attack on the military in the north and the perceived response from the military.

“While we are not against fighting crime in Nigeria, we want this to be done within the ambit of the law.”

Jonathan Lokpobiri, President of IYC, wondered why the military had taken a penchant for invading and arresting Ijaw people at the slightest provocation and refused to replicate the same treatment in other parts of the country where people killed military men in droves.

According to the IYC, the news is everywhere about “36 Nigerian soldiers killed in ambush by bandits. Nasarawa, 18/08/2023 (Punch); Bandits kill 10 soldiers in NDA attack in Kaduna -5/04/2022 (Al Jazeera); 17 soldiers feared dead as bandits attacked zamfara community: 25/07/23 (Channels)”

“At least 30 Nigerian soldiers killed in ambush after mine attack in Shiroro Niger state – 3/07/2022 (Reuters); and at least 50 Nigerian soldiers killed in a deadly ambush by suspected Boko Haram gunmen in Yobe State – 24/03/2020 (Premium Times).”

Recalling that a Lieutenant Colonel in the Nigerian Army and five soldiers lost their lives in an ambush by the Boko Haram terrorists along Biu-Buni Yadi Road, Borno State, April 6, 2024, according to the Daily Trust, IYC said, “The Nigerian military cannot only be powerful in the South, and Niger Delta but not seen displaying such might in the north that far bigger crime is committed by insurgents and other criminal elements.”

The group, therefore, demanded to know the whereabouts of Amb. Sobomabo Jackrich, who is a former Rivers State governorship candidate of National Rescue Movement, NRM, in the last Governorship election in Rivers State and a critical stakeholder and leader in Ijaw nation.

“Council has also watched the President Bola Tinubu-led federal government of on how the military recently went to negotiate with bandits for the release of the 137 Kaduna students and in the process also had a handshake with the bandits, instead of enforcement of their rights. Only God knows what would have happened if it were to be in the Niger Delta.
“With the way things are going, the Ijaw people will not be surprised to wake up one day to see that the military has invaded former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s house. This attack by the Nigerian state on Ijaw leaders is becoming worrisome.

“We demand to know the whereabouts and offence of Sobomabo Jackrich. What is the offence of the Ijaw people in the Nigerian state,” the group queried.

Contacted, spokesperson of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Lt Col. Danjuma Jonah, said he was unaware of what happened to Egberipapa.

“I am not aware. Seriously, I am not aware,” he said.

Politics / Re: Phillip Shuaibu: Lessons For Deputy Governors by Difrent: 5:44am On Apr 13
coputa:

Philip Shaibu has been impeached as the deputy governor of Edo State and replaced by 38-year- old Omobayo Godwin. He has declared his impeachment illegal, but until a court of law follows suit, such a declaration would remain beyond his fiat as an erstwhile deputy governor.

In Nigerian politics, the heads that are reared up too soon are swiftly cut off and served in salomenic style as the prize for ambition in a gathering of power. Whenever deputy governors have replaced governors, it has been a case of restraint, and sometimes helplessness. Otherwise, it is only hostility that is displayed. That hostility now haunts Shaibu.

Since he indicated his intention to become governor, he has become the number one enemy to power in the state. Godwin Obaseki, the governor, has been open in his opposition to Shaibu’s bid. Obaseki’s grouse that Shaibu did not tell him has quickly become fierce opposition to his bid in all respects. It is a strange case of a governor being in the opposition together with the legislature, all arrayed in battle against one man.

As the theatre has unfolded in Edo State, turning theatrics to weapons in one of Nigeria’s most politically conscious states, the impossible fate of a deputy governor who aspires to be more than a figurehead has been laid bare.

Snippets from Shaibu’s side of the story which have come more out of compulsion than actual consternation or contempt betray feelings of betrayal. Having sunk his resources into a joint ticket, he feels he should now be the first name on what is a testament to its success story. But that is not how things work. In the cut-throat world of Nigerian politics, loyalty is often a knife sharpened for one’s back.

In his bid to become governor, Shaibu has evoked the homeboy trope. A career activist and unionist who rose to fame during the heady days of student unionism in Unijos, he considers himself the quintessential homebred politician who not only knows where the pulse is in Edo State but feels it first-hand. In this wise, Shaibu favorably compares himself to a certain favourite for the son of the Edo State governorship who needed a translator to commune with his kinsmen and spirits when he visited his community.

What iniquitous offence did Shaibu commit to impel his impeachment? What has changed to make a pariah out of a man who has claimed to have bankrolled elections in 2016 and has not been challenged?

Obaseki and his stooges in the state legislature sure have no coherent answer. Shaibu’s fate sealed from the moment private disaffection over the next governor of Edo State spilled into public disagreement is a remaking of the impossible remit of the Nigerian deputy governor. An office hamstrung by the Constitution itself is often made impossible by the clownish tendencies of governors who act like emperors, and crave control of everything.

What is happening in Edo State is history repeating itself. In 2010, as President Musa Yar’Adua dangled between life and death from the threads of a terminal illness, his closest aides and family members cared less for the president’s survival than to check his inevitable replacement by the Vice President to the office. This was until death checked them all.

·Ondo State also required death to ultimately disarm the bomb that was about to detonate in the state. Since 1999, deputy governors in zamfara, Oyo, Kogi, Ekiti, Imo, Lagos, Osun, Akwa Ibom and Bauchi have all been impeached for farcical offences. It is a battle that is never far away from government with the prudent question being where next.

It Is disruptive that a governor should spend his last days in office orchestrating the impeachment of his deputy rather than consolidating his legacy.

The clearest lesson for Shaibu and other deputy governors, may yet be that in a duel of big dogs, it is impolitic to show sharp teeth.

Politics / Nigeria Terrorists Release Video Celebrating Eid-el-fitr In Zamfara Community by GistMedia0: 11:36am On Apr 12
In a concerning development, a video has surfaced showing armed terrorists in zamfara State, Nigeria, celebrating the Eid-El-Fitr festival. The footage reveals individuals with AK-47 rifles prominently strapped to their arms, raising alarms about the security situation in the region.

The video shows armed individuals, believed to be members of a notorious terrorist group operating in the region, sitting in what appears to be an organized Eid procession and prayer gathering. Instead of the usual scenes of peace and reflection associated with Eid-El-Fitr celebrations, the participants are seen openly displaying their weapons.

zamfara State, like many parts of Nigeria, has been grappling with a persistent insurgency by various extremist groups. These groups often carry out attacks on communities, leading to the loss of lives and the displacement of residents.

Politics / DHQ and National Assembly: Awake To Fulani Madness In Nigeria. by Antitankweapon: 10:29am On Apr 12
We call on every indigenous Nigerian - from the North, Middle Belt, and South - to awake to Fulani Madness in Nigeria. Awake and stand firm in putting a STOP to centuries of fulani oppression and madness in the North and Middle Belt.

From Sokoto, Zangon Kataf, Jos North, Benue, zamfara, Southern Kaduna, etc... the killings by the Sultan-led Fulani must stop. All these killings are because the Fulani want to steal people's land. Indigenous Nigerians must awaken now and now.

We say to Fulani thieves:

A) Nigeria is not available for migrants. Nigeria is not fulani homeland. Fulani homeland is in Futa Jallon. Not Nigeria. Fulani,, STOP your land quest in Nigeria. Stop killing Northerners. Stop attacking and ravaging the Middle Belt. Nigeria is not available for you.

B) Stop causing division in Nigeria. Stop North/South dominance contest. Northerners and Southerners are indigenous Nigerians, and we own Nigeria. Fulani,, stop detailing Nigeria's progress.

Sultan of Sokoto: Nigeria is not available for Fulani. Stop your war of conquest against indigenous Northerners and Middle Beltans.

Enough is enough.

Nigerian Air Force Bathes Terrorists With Fire In zamfara — Death Toll Huge
Following carefully conducted observation missions over the Camps of terrorist kingpins, Abdullahi Nasanda in Zurmi Local Government Area (LGA) and Mallam Tukur’s camp in Gusau LGA of zamfara State, air strikes by the air component of Operation Hadarin Daji on 10 April 2024, have led to the elimination of several terrorists and their structures.

Director of Public Relations and Information Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice-Marshal Edward Gabkwet, disclosed this Thursday in a statement.

He said Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission conducted on Abdullahi Nasanda’s Camp had revealed terrorists’ activities around some huts and thatched roof structures.

Some of their motorcycles were also observed hidden on trees.

Having established that their activities were consistent with terrorists’ modes of operation, the location was struck by multiple aircraft passes, thereby neutralising several terrorists.

Similar ISR missions were conducted at Mallam Tukur Camp, where terrorists’ activities were also observed. Air strikes conducted on the Camp neutralised several terrorists and showed several structures set ablaze and destroyed.

Air strikes were also extended to Kani kawa in Maradun town, under Maradun LGA of zamfara State, where terrorists, their enclaves and equipment were attacked and destroyed.

We are sounding logical. You will support the whole Delta state to be killed and give us audio report of terrorist killed in zamfara.

Double standards.

Please stay away from my mentions.

I don't like associating with anything negativity or bad energy

Terrorists Release Video Showing Their Eid-El-Fitr Celebration Openly In Large Gathering At zamfara Community
April 11, 2024
NEWS

For instance, Blessed (@BlessedOdoba) tweeted, “There’s no way the community or government securities will no know that they’re gathering.”
