The National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC)has tagged five Nigerian songs as “Not to be Broadcasted.”

The corporation released the list, saying it has banned the 5 songs from being aired.

The songs are: Olamide‘s “Wo” and “Wavy Level“; Davido‘s “Fall” and “If (Remix)“; and 9ice‘s “Living Things.”

The Federal Ministry of Health had in a tweet on Friday said that the video to Olamide’s “Wo” is in violation of the Tobacco Control Act 2015.

Rapper Falz had also in June criticized musicians who glamorize fraud with their lyrics, a criticism fans took to be directed at 9ice for “Living Things.”

Nigeria Indigenous rapper, Olamide Adedeji may be at risk of a N3 million fine and one-year jail term for promoting the use of tobacco in his recently released video, ‘Wo’. According to Dailypost.

The federal ministry of health had notified the public that the rapper had violated the 2015 tobacco act, warning that the video had “dangerous public health content”.

The ministry wrote on Twitter,

“The public is informed of the dangerous public health content & violation of Tobacco Control Act 2015 in “Wo” by @olamide_YBNL#ClearTheAir.‎

“The content & video contains scenes that violate the ban on Tobacco Advertising, Promotion & Sponsorship provision of the act #ClearTheAir.”

The 28-year-old rapper, who is signed to his own record label, YBNL, had returned to Ladi Lak in Bariga where he was raised to shoot the video of his latest single.

According to the 2015 Tobacco Control Act, it is prohibited to promote or advertise tobacco or tobacco products except between a manufacturer, retailer and consenting persons above 18 years of age.

“No person shall promote or advertise tobacco or tobacco products in any form.

“No person shall engage or participate in any tobacco advertising, promotion or sponsorship as a media or event organizer, celebrity or other participant,” it read.

According to the 2015 law, anyone who violates the law faces the risk of a fine and jail term of not more than one year.

Person that produces or publishes advertising, promotion or sponsorship content shall attract a fine of not less than N3,000,000 and a term of imprisonment of not more than one year.

For allegedly shooting in a way that could endanger lives of innocent residents of Lagos, two policemen said to be engaged by the hip-hop singer, David Adeleke aka Davido, have been arrested. The Head of Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU), ACP Abayomi Shogunle, said the two policemen had faced the orderly room.
A video in circulation on social media showed two policemen allegedly shooting into the air on the street in a moving vehicle in Lagos. Shogunle, said following complaints by members of the public, the case was immediately registered by the unit.
He said:
“On August 1, PCRRU was notified about a video in circulation on social media in which some men alleged to be policemen were seen shooting in the air on the street in a moving vehicle.” Shogunle, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said the Commissioner of Police in charge of Police Mobile Force (PMF) at the Force Headquarters, had identified the men following the directive of the Inspector- General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.
Shogunle said that the incident occurred on July 31 at 5p.m. on the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Road in Lagos. He explained that the two policemen, who were attached to the 20 Police Mobile Force Squadron, were attached to a private security company, Infinity Security Company.
Shogunle Davido engaged them to provide escort for him to his house while returning from abroad. He said: “Along the way, as seen in the video which has been confirmed from investigation, the two policemen involved started shooting into the air for no just cause.
“They have been identified and they have been in detention since then because investigation was conducted and after that they have been tried in orderly room and punishment has been recommended.
“We are only waiting for the appropriate police authority to review the punishment then we will make the full details known to the public. “One thing is clear that the conduct of those policemen as seen in that video is unacceptable, that is not part of what our officers should be engaged in.”
“They are no longer involved in any duty where they will carry any weapon. They will be in detention until the process is over before they will be released. “Investigation has shown that they have no justifiable reason to have expended or fired their weapons into the air.”
Shogunle also assured the public that officers dismissed for corruption would also be prosecuted in court in line with the Inspector-General of Police’s directive. He said: “Apart from dismissal, we are also going to see to the prosecution of such unethical officers in the court of law.”
The PCRRU was established by the Nigeria Police Force in November 2015, with a mandate to receive and resolve cases of professional misconduct brought against its officers.

Two years ago, Audra Tatum had her legs crossed with one foot on the dashboard when she was involved in a crash that deployed the airbag, sending her foot into her face, CBS News reports.

<i>“The airbag went off, throwing my foot up and breaking my nose,” Tatum, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, told CBS. “I was looking at the bottom of my foot facing up at me.”</i>

Besides her nose, Tatum broke her ankle, femur and arm, telling CBS she still walks with a limp and can’t stand more than 4 hours at a time.
“Basically my whole right side was broken, and it’s simply because of my ignorance,” Tatum said. “I’m not Superman. I couldn’t put my foot down in time.”
Tatum underwent several surgeries and weeks of physical therapy. It took her over a month to start walking again.
Two years later, she’s still facing obstacles.
“I can’t do my career as an EMS. I can’t lift patients anymore,” she explained. “I can’t stand more than 4 hours at a time. Once I’m at that 4-hour mark I’m in tears.”
Now the mom is using her story to warn others.
“I keep telling everybody, you don’t want this life,” she said. “You don’t want the pain and agony every day.”
A local fire department is helping to spread her story to demonstrate the serious consequences of resting your foot on a dashboard.
“Airbags deploy between 100 and 220 MPH. If you ride with your feet on the dash and you’re involved in an accident, the airbag may send your knees through your eye sockets,” the Chattanooga Fire Department warned in a Facebook post that has been shared more than 1,600 times.
If there wasn’t an airbag at all, Tatum predicts her injuries could have been even worse.
“It could have done so much more damage. It did make it break my nose, but I could’ve hit the dash a whole lot harder without that airbag,” she said.

37 assorted vehicles have been intercepted at various locations in Lagos with a duty paid value of N1,374,122,679 following an intensive anti-smuggling operation by the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
They include eight Lexus Jeeps LX 570 (2017 model), 12 Land Cruiser Jeeps (2017), 17 Toyota Hilux vans (2016, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010 and 2009 models).
The brand new vehicles from China were smuggled into the country in connivance with some Customs officials who have since been arrested and may face prosecution after investigation.
Comptroller General Customs (CGC), Colonel Hameed Ali, who disclosed this to newsmen in Lagos, yesterday, also said that apart from the seizure of the vehicles and rice, the anti-smuggling operations yielded another 156 assorted seizures including bales of used clothing, Indian hemp and used tyres.
He said the owner of the vehicles claimed he refurbished them and if he can prove it, his vehicles will be returned to him, but if he cannot, he will be prosecuted.
“The owner or the claimer said he refurbished them but the vehicles do not look to me as refurbished. But we have asked him to go and bring proof of evidence. If he does and he can convince us, he takes his vehicles because we want to be fair. But if he cannot, they are outright seizures and he himself will be prosecuted for possession of smuggled items. We have 37 assorted vehicles and the entire component has a duty value of N1,374,122,679.
“He is going to sell them at the price he determines and yet he does not want to pay anything back to the Nigerian people. It is not government because government acts on behalf of 180 million Nigerians. It is not Customs because if we collect, we don’t even see the money. But this deprivation is to the entire 180 million Nigerians,” he said.
Also, a total number of 12,081 bags of smuggled parboiled rice with a duty paid value of N149,007,658 were seized.
He used the occasion to remind that the Federal Government’s ban on the importation of rice and vehicles through the land borders is still in force.
“Nigeria Customs Service remains resolute in its determination to enforce these policies. NCS will continue to work towards crippling smuggling and getting them out of the illegitimate business.
In the face of security and economic challenges, no responsible government will fold its hands while unpatriotic elements continue to engage in illegal activities that will further compromise national economic and security well-being of her people. NCS as one of the enforcement agencies of government will continue to work towards ensuring compliance with all extant laws of government imports and exports in Nigeria. For those who use violence as instrument of intimidation, let it be known that going forward, NCS operatives will not hesitate to use appropriate force to deal with any threat intended to obstruct performance of statutory function,” he said.
