STEPS FOR NURSERY .

1.Get well drained soils especially organically rich soil mixed with well decomposed poultry or cow manure.

2.Seeds can be soaked in warm water for a few hours, though not compulsory but it allows for an increased germination percentage and also to break any form of dormancy to a large extent.

3.Get your nursery polythene bags and fill with your alkaline soil.

4.Sow your seeds inside the grow mediums to a depth of 1cm or inch to 1.5cm .Then cover the hole lightly.

5. Create a shady or shelter over the new sown seeds until they are due for transplanting when the plant reaches 4 to 6 inches or when it has 6 leaves. Then spray water regularly at least each morning to maintain the moisture .

Germination is accomplished in approximately two weeks from the time of sowing. The plants can also be transplanted once they are 1ft tall to survive with minimal care. The recommended planting spacing at transplant is 2m by 2m. An acre can take 1011 stands while if inter cropped is concerned the spacing can be 3m x 3m which can take up to 450 stands per acre.

TESTIMONY SHARED ON AZOMITE USAGE BELOW.

I bought my first 10kg of azomite in Feb this year. I'm an organic farmer and very keen on trends in soil amendments for improving soil quality rather than throwing fertilizer at things.
I read all the reviews on Amazon-something that would be useful to most people-and eventually got to the azomite website posted earlier.

I planted tomatoes just before the thick of the rains this year. For the first portion, I used azomite as a soil amendment via side dressing each plant.

I eventually got 2 more bags of the 20kg version in May 2017. Shortly after, I applied it to african bird eye chilli peppers transplanted in early July.

My observations:
Compared with the second tomato section to which I did not add azomite:
The tomatoes from the azomite portion enjoyed much better fruiting and I was able to harvest continuously for 8 weeks before shutting down. I had rain and humidity challenges which led to their usual pest pressures but despite this, harvest went on from June to August- determinate variety. Azomite helped with fortifying the fruits and increased fruit production.
The second portion was shut down after the third harvest. Only difference between the 2 sections was azomite- same ph, same soil profile, same other organic nutrients added. In fact, at the time I shut down the second section, transplanted about 3 weeks after the first, I was still harvesting from the first.

My African bird eye chillis are fruiting beautifully  with abundant flowers. If you know this specie, you'll know they only grow about 1-2cm which mine have done however they're also prone to fruit or flower dropping in high humidity and rainfall. I haven't encountered this at all. All transplants are thriving, flowers continue to bloom and the quality of fruits is beautiful- the gloss and sheen of vitality on the skin of the fruit testifies.

I just did a google image search for african birdeye chilli and couldn't find an unaltered or non-professionally shot image that looks like the one below taken on my farm 3 days ago using just my phone, no filter.

I bought some other things from seedworld recently and when I saw the invite for the group, my first reaction was relief that finally azomite is in Nigeria and I wouldn't have to jump through hoops to have it sent anymore. Second was the need to check that we were talking about the same product.


Azomite comes in powder, granule and pellet form. The only difference between what I bought is in the colour of the bag-green vs red- and text on it. Mine was the powder or micronized version, this is granule. Both integrate into the soil after applying water.

Its not a fertlizer. It adds essential natural micro nutrients which most soils are depleted of and supports increased nutrient uptake for greater yield and quality.
I'd say its definitely worth a try.

LAW OF MINIMUM AS IT APPLIES TO AZOMITE.

*The father of fertilizer 'Jusus Von Liebig developed the "Law of Minimum" .This is important in understanding the importance of AZOMITE and what it does.

The Law states that plant growth is determined by the the scarcest, "limiting" nutrients .If even one of the many required nutrients is deficient ,the plant will not grow and produce at its optimum.
