OK, so I'm working on the assumption that you have bought your domain name and hosting, you have a wordpress website and have the woocommerce plugin installed. Essential things you need: 1 paid security plugin, one that alters your wordpress login URL from the default one. the last thing you want is for someone to use brute force to break into your account. have a recaptcha set up from google, this reduces bot attacks. 2 have an exit intent pop up, so that when someone tries to leave your website it gives them a money off coupon off any of your products if they subscribe to your mailing list. 3 set up a facebook ads account and have a retargeting pixel. this way, they are reminded of your business after they leave your website 4 google analytics 5 then this is the most important step, create an account on printful.com. their platform can be integrated with woocommerce etc. they have a list of products that you can customise and list on your website. the beauty of working with them is that you can make your products very unique so that you stand out from anyone else using them. they are more or less a manufacture on demand company. when someone orders your product, they manufacture it then and ship directly to the person. once your shop has been set up, you don't need to do anything else other than send traffic to your website 6 another plugin you can add is one that does currency conversion. this way people in different currencies can pay using their local currencies rather than having to deal with exchange rates etc. To see an example of what I mean, check out my novelty products store http://www.segilolapublishing.com/product-category/novelty-products/ as you can see it is customised with the cover of one of my books. when people order an item, it is posted to them automatically. I don't need to hold any stock at all and no one else has the same products as I do. I hope this is useful to someone |
LOL OK First I will assume that you know how to register your own domain and build an ecommerce website using woocommerce. Is that correct? or do you need me to talk you through? Also, if you would like to customise your products, you will need high res images or make up any memes you feel your buyers would be interested in. you need to have a target audience in mind eg dog lovers if you want to customise your product with dog related things or maybe beer drinkers. it's totally up to you. Any questions, or can I proceed? |
one of the things I have come to love about nairaland is how helpful a lot of people are. it definitely negates the notion that nigerians only help when they get paid. in that light, as I am not a pro like most of you, I would like to share how you can set up your own ecommerce store that sells things like tshirts, picture frames, clothes etc etc that ships internationally without you having to hold stock or do the shipping yourself. you can customise the products yourself using your own pictures if you like. is this something you all know or would you like me to share how to do so? |
