@PhysicsMHD: Yeah! But it must not continue this way. Had it not been for the efforts of Governor Fashola, its possible some areas will remain as it is in Badagry town. @Ezeagu: perhaps you don't know that education was brought to Nigeria thru Badagry even Christianity and the likes. And mind you, Badagry has the first storey building in Nigeria, check on your facts. |
@Isinweke: that's just it, I'm proudly an Egun boy and had never denied it once even when the odds are low. It'd be better if Egun indigenes bear their local names, mine is Semasa as well and I cherish it so much. @Afam4eva: yes it is but that does not mean Yoruba names must overwhelm Egun names. Have you seen a Chinese bearing others name? |
If there's anything I'm proud of, its definately being an Egun boy and I stand for it anywhere and I'm as well proud you do. It'd be alarming if you get to know that I'm not even fluent as you suppose despite living there which is why I'm doing my possible best now being fluent in it. Circumstances is however never an excuse as you rightly said but we all have that duty of protecting what is ours-that's one thing I admire the Igbos and most Asians of. I'd gladly get to join your league of members on the group soon, I'm happy getting across to someone as well from my origin like you |

One major identity of any race without mincing words is their language. There is absolutely no race without an identified language to its roots. The Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, language is "the system of sounds and words used by humans to express their thoughts and feelings". Taking note of this, I wonder what the future holds for each culture or say ethnic group if their form of expression of feelings and thoughts are lost! A total loss I hear someone say? It is a big shame to cover up one's origin in the name of civilization and exposure. I was born and nurtured in Badagry and had been living a few of my last four yrs now of my entire life out of Badagry but I can say it with all dignity that I am ashamed of most indigenes of this particular community called Badagry who deny this town of its pride only to come home during periods of their needs to get support and run off without looking back. 'if you fail to impact on your community, your community will fail to regard you'. To get right on the point, parents are just not worth it being praised for their lack of seriousness to see that at least a minimal of their culture-the language is impacted on their wards; you can imagine a family where both are intra-related and understand the language and they fail to teach their children the ABC of their language? Excuse can be granted to inter-married couples but not sufficient likewise a big shame to those who fail to learn it as well forgetting very soon, history will never forget them to have ignored their moral obligation and with this, make the language extinct. It is high time we all, regardless of our background, go back and learn our identity and try not to make our identity lost forever in history just like the dinassours had been. Stand up for a just course now, our language must gain its pride amongst the rest and never be lost forever. |

It is a mere write-up to write the history of Lagos with no mention of Badagry neither can you write of Nigeria or the wider West Africa and Africa ignoring Badagry as well. Though the name, Badagry, came out of oral misuse of the name Gbagleme, it has never been a Bad-agreement land as assumed by some. Notably, Badagry had the first Christmas, first storey building and the likes been started all here and even the legendary Bishop Ajayi Crowther stayed in the storey building to translate the English Bible to Yoruba there. So far so good, the town has witnessed little or no significance change despite being the spear-head of most of innovations so to say in Nigeria. I wonder sometimes how the state of the town as been and thanks at least to the governor who made some democracy impact felt with a better road network in the town and some lightening as well. At this age now, where does Badagry hopes to be in the nearest future? Can it be likened to the likes of Ajah, V.I., Lagos Island, Ikeja and the likes soon? |
I'd advise everyone or the concerned people to ignore calling anyone for any admission process. You might end up regretting this at the long run. |

I've been sampling peoples opinion on who is supposed to be more active in a relationship and its alarming that out of almost 50 persons of which are 60% are ladies are of the opinion that guys should be because guys are the ones who do the chasing and talks. One even said that guys are the ones to do the calling, texting visiting and most in a higher percentage. My people, are guys meant to go thru all these and ladies, is it ideal or ok that guys must do most in a relationship? Its supposed to be a mutual feeling with equal and no greater weight at one end than the other or isn't it? |

Thanks for the advise. I did sat her down and spoke to her and she promised to change and I think I'm getting positive reaction from her but I don't want to be blinded by love. I'm thinking of what I can do with her if the same occur. For the fact of spoiling her on her visit, NEVER!!! She was only at the gate in a shop near there, that was the only time she stepped my environ and her visit to my hostel was not more than 9times since our 4yrs of getting together. I was also thinking I'm the only doing the loving as well. I really appreciate your responses and wish to act thereon. |

Music in Nigeria for the past two decade is HELL!!! I still could remember a few lines in the early 90s as a growing kid when sensible music is produced and I'm alarmed now hearing all sort of genres with meaningless lyrics. I wonder what the future has got for our music in the immediate generations to come. I wish I could do something fast to put an end to songs with good rhythms but very poor and bad message to pass across. God help Nigeria. |
